Levitating (The Blessed Madonna remix) (4:05)
Review: The Blessed Madonna has remixed Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' featuring Missy Elliott and Madonna. This is the first track from 'Club Future Nostalgia', an entirely remixed version of Dua Lipa's global #1 album "Future Nostalgia", created in collaboration with The Blessed Madonna.

Review: This 12-inch picture disc version of Madonna's 'Erotica' single (taken from the concept album about sex and romance of the same name) is a thing to behold. It arrives, finally, courtesy of Warmer Music and is in honour of the tune's 30th anniversary. The picture on the vinyl is from Madge's Sex book but was withdrawn before it actually got released back in 1992. Three versions are presented here - the original album version, plus an instrumental and a radio edit.

Review: Disco heads are considered Modern Talking's 1985 maxi-single 'You Can Win If You Want' a classic for many years. It's textbook Scandi synth-pop from the group that contained producer and songwriter Dieter Bohlen, vocalist Thomas Anders and various other guest members during the 80s. The group put out some 13 albums but this one was always the standout. The original comes as a Special Dance Version and Instrumental while 'One In A Million' is also included on the flip for extra dance floor fun. This superb reissue comes on luxurious gold vinyl making it even more special.

Review: Mumford & Sons drop a surprise single release alongside Pharrell Williams, 'Good People', delivering on a long-awaited promise to hop in the studio together after years of knowing each other. Finally falling back on their immediate instincts, 'Good People' hears the band and the solo wunderkind sing of tiredness and revelation, making adept use of a dry, driving, sportsmanlike instrumental palette (think hand claps, stomps, gospel harmonies). Though cryptic in theme, the mood on this one-off is one of triumph and impending miracle works to come.

Review: Celebrating a decade of Kirsty MacColl's iconic album Electric Landlady, this special edition boasts half-speed remastered tracks that sound better than ever. MacColl's distinctive vocals and songwriting prowess shine through in every track, from the infectious energy of 'Walking Down Madison' to the poignant storytelling of 'My Affair.' With its fusion of pop, folk, and rock influences, this album remains a timeless classic which will reinstate with new audiences as well as once again chiming with those who fell for it first time round. MacColl's musical legacy and the brilliance of one of the most influential singer-songwriters of her generation cannot be overstated here. Fun fact: MacColl was once Johnny Marr's landlady.

Review: Rock dynamo Machine Gun Kelly has been busy of late. After a well received album in 2020 he is now back with another one, Mainstream Sellout, which is his sixth in all and is full of just as many big riffs. As always these are short put potent tunes and this is the second collaborative record he has made with drummer and producer Travis Barker. The record has plenty of pent up angst that fans old and new will feed off and plenty of entertainig lyrics.

'Faithful' here is a very personal song that reflects those battles. "As long as I can remember, I've wanted to be clean, and yet the disease I have is always present, it always follows me," he says. That is well expressed through this record with four sides of deeply intimate and tightly packed hip-hop bars that make a real emotional impact.

Review: Late last year in November marked the arrival of Theatre of the Absurd Presents C'est la Vie, a thirteenth studio album from much loved British ska collective Madness. It is their first new studio work in almost a decade and now it arrives on double vinyl. We're told that the record was written with the mantra 'Let Madness be Madness' and that shows with some real musical freedom and plenty of the quirky charms the band has always dealt in. It is uplifting yet melancholic in all the right places and another fine success for this Great British band.

Review: Moving away from their two-tone tingles and sauntering silliness, 'The Madness' was a thorough rebrand for the band - exploring a new name, a new sound, a rejumbled lineup, and all the new electronic music tech that te late 80s had to offer. Sounding more like Duran Duran than Madness as we know them, 'The Madness' hears a smattering of guest musicians join the party, including The Specials' Jerry Dammers on piano. It was this LP that caused such a furore at the band's Madstock festival in 1992, that a small earthquake erupted at 4.2 on the Richter scale in the London locale of Finsbury Park. Now you can relive said tremors of excitement with this reissue.

Review: Six albums in and Madness had firmly established themselves as part of the British pop firmament when they released Mad Not Mad in 1985. It's a divisive album which captures Suggs' Camden Town likely lads in a period of transition as the 80s wore on and musical styles shifted. Moving on from the chirpy ska of their early days they moved into a more polished pop sound which landed them a billing on NME's 'Greatest Albums Of All Time' just weeks after its release. With the singles 'Uncle Sam' and 'Sweetest Girl' nestled amongst some of the bands' most introspective tracks (see 'Mad Not Mad') it's an important part of the Madness legacy, handily repressed on 180 gm wax for your listening pleasure.

In effect, it's a celebration of her Madgesty's links with dance music culture, showcasing 40 years of popular reworks of her biggest hits, presented in a 'rainbow edition' box set where each of the six slabs of wax is pressed onto different coloured vinyl. So, alongside classic early hits and reworks from 1987 remix album You Can Dance, we get revisions by everyone from Junior Jasquez, Jellybean, Shep Pettinone and Pet Shop Boys, to William Orbit, Aviici, Felx De Housecat, Jacques Lu Cont and Tracey Young. Review: There are a slew of live albums dropping in January whether by fluke or by design and one of the best ones is this. Madonna's Live In Dallas 1990 album comes on grey marbled vinyl and was originally recorded for a live radio broadcast. Her brilliant performance at Reunion Arena, on May 7th, takes in all of the very many Madge hits of the era, as you would expect. There is a particularly sensual version of 'Like A Virgin', an empathic version of 'Like A Prayer' and plenty of crowd-pleasing part starters such as 'Papa Don't Preach'.

Review: Mark Eric Malmborg was a 1960s Hollywood actor, male model and musician. Along with with arranger and ex-Animal Vic Briggs, Malmborg constructed this beautiful album, a unique pastiche of four freshman/Beach Boys sensibilities coupled with wistful melancholia. Defiantly soft, 1969's A Midsummer's Day Dream caught the tail end of Los Angeles' 60s pop innocence perfectly, just as it slipped into infinity. Though it forms part of an expanded edition that includes of fifteen extra bonus ephemera, this vinyl reissue is true to the original as it was first released, in all its orange-glowing glory.

Mars' first hit singles such as 'The Lazy Song', 'Just The Way You Are', 'Marry You' and 'Grenade', to name just a few, are thoroughly emblazoned onto the collective millennial repertorial cortex; fewer, however, will be aware of their collection onto a single (now limited edition yellow) record, which also charts iconic collaborations with Damian Marley, CeeLo Green and B.o.B..

The artists chosen to remix were all selected by McCartney himself and are said to feature "friends, fans, and brand new acquaintances." The record has picked up plenty of positive reviews already and that should be no surprise given the heavyweights included. The likes of Beck, Khruangbin, Dev Hynes, Ed O'Brien, Damon Albarn, Josh Homme, Anderson .Paak, Robert Del Naja, and Idris Elba all make for a contemporary mix with diverse results.

Review: The debut album by Malcolm McLaren - former manager of the Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls, and infamous producer in his own right - was known as Duck Rock. First released in 1983, it showed off as far-flung a mix of genres as hip hop, international music, rockabilly, and disco, not least due in part to its hand in the production duties by Fairlight pioneer JJ Jeczalik, Trevor Horn and Anne Dudley, all of whom would form Art of Noise, as well as further guest appearances by Africa Bambaataa and Thomas Dolby. An electrifying medley of the sample-tastic sensibility of the day, the album also plays out as a form of satire, parodying the oft-chaotic flights of fancy indulged by the very same era.

It comes after she had a fine 2022 that included an acclaimed collaboration with Simon Geoff called Aerial Objects and for this one she links up with sometime Ghostpoet, Brian Eno and Regina Spektor producer Leo Abrahams. The album was recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios while Melua was pregnant and finds her reflecting on her place in the world. "It's about the scene changing and being a woman in the music industry and how strange and lucky I feel to have a job I'm addicted to." It's a great listen.

Review: When it was first released, George Michael's Older was something of a shock to those who were used to his chart-topping hits of yore. Certainly, 1990's Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 was a mature and expansive album from one of pop's brightest talents, but six years later Older took a moodier turn on tracks like 'Jesus To A Child' and 'Spinning The Wheel'. There are of course some big bangers too, from the slinky funk of 'Fastlove' to 'Star People', but this was a turning point in Michael's career which finally delivered the creative freedom he'd always so vocally called out for. This expansive special edition of the album comes with additional edits, remixes and unreleased tracks to complete the picture for a landmark slice of British pop music.

There are of course some big bangers too, from the slinky funk of 'Fastlove' to 'Star People', but this was a turning point in Michael's career which finally delivered the creative freedom he'd always so vically called out for. This expansive special edition of the album comes with additional edits, remixes and unreleased tracks to complete the picture for a landmark slice of British pop music.

Review: More than a decade on from the release of her second album, Nicki Minaj enjoys a stratospheric reputation as one of the queens of contemporary American pop. It is in part thanks to this album, too, as it moved her away from there sounds of her debut into something more overtly fun. The first half is all hip-hop, the seance a mix of dance-pop, all of it with a variety of collaborators taking production credits. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and went on to be certified double platinum with singles like 'Starships' defining its sound.

It is an official bootleg edition because the album itself was never made available on vinyl back when it was first released back in 2003 and it also features mash ups like 'Begin To Spin Me Round' (Dannnii vs Dead or Alive) and 'Don't Wanna Lose This Groove' (Dannii vs Madonna). A collector's piece for sure for those looking to bring some playful pop perfection into their lives.

Review: If you ask us, Dannii Minogue is by far and away the better of the two famous singing and acting Australian sisters despite often being in Kylie's shadows. Back in 1997, she released Girl, her third studio album and one which now turns 25 years young with a special anniversary edition. Three of the record's singles - 'All I Wanna Do', 'Everything I Wanted' and 'Disremembrance' - managed to make it to number one in the UK charts and a fourth, 'Coconut,' became a chart topper in Australia. More dance-orientated than previous works, this album remains one of Minogue's best.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the global pop megastar's Infinite Disco live performance was first broadcast online in 2020, accompanying her album 'DISCO', which showed off just what she could do with the style. Now, with the aid of the House Gospel Choir, Teemu Brunila, Sky Adams, and Maegan Cottone, she brings her take on the style further to life with live versions of all the hits from 'DISCO'.

Review: When it comes to Christmas cheer in recorded form, no one does it better than a true pop diva. Mariah may wear the crown for some of her most iconic efforts, but who could ask for more than Kylie belting out a whole album's worth of seasonal classics? Australia's premier cultural export has the clout to call up some heavyweight collaborators, whether it's Frank Sinatra joining in on 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' or Iggy Pop joining in on 'Christmas Wrapping', but Minogue can carry most of these festive nuggets all on her own.

Review: When Kylie's Fever came out in 2001, it was world-conquering in a way that surpassed the dizzying heights Australia's biggest pop icon had ever scaled before. That's saying something, but more than 20 years later 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' remains a monumental slice of earworm magic, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Tapping into that warm, disco-infected house wave that to be quite honest beats the likes of 'Get Lucky' to the punch, there is endless joy to be found in this pitch-perfect slice of millennial pop. The first pressings of this came around 2017 and are already worth a mint, so don't expect these ones to hang around for long either.

Review: Kylie Minogue's Impossible Princess remains one of the most fascinating albums in the Australian pop queen's career. It's absolutely a product of the 90s, when genres and technology were colliding faster than the business could set up the barriers, and so glorious crossovers were taking place. But more importantly, it's also Minogue's most personal album, where she took the front seat in the songwriting process, and even got her hands dirty on the production with Brothers In Rhythm. As such, it feels like a window into the real person behind the pop persona, and it sounds better than ever on this limited edition marbled vinyl version.

Review: If there's anything that can make a Kylie album more appealing, it's a lovely bright orange vinyl pressing, which is what this is. Minogue, of course, is Australia's premier cultural export many decades into her career. Tension is her first decent-sized body of new work since the 2020 disco, dance and pop album Disco and is her 16th long player overall. This one has a hint of electro-pop to it but it's still rooted in glossy, accessible, happy dance sounds that will be popular at weddings for decades to come. Dutch DJ and producer Oliver Heldens has linked with Kylie for one of the better tunes, '10 Out of 10' and it's a vibrant mix of euro dane from across the ages.

Review: Body Language remains one of Kylie Minogue's finest records, in particular finding some truly inspirational crossover between the Aussie pop queen's immaculate voice and a more sultry kind of club music. When an album opens up with a track as perfect as 'Slow', you know you're in for a treat. There are of course many different sides to the record, and there's space for different stylistic approaches besides the floor fillers, but it's the likes of 'I Feel For You' with its cut-up disco loops that give Minogue the backing she deserves to bring the club to life. This edition of the album comes pressed on blood red vinyl, all the better to set pulses racing.

Capitalising on the snappy production that electrifies tracks like the breakout viral hit 'Padam Padam', this double-vinyl release provides extended versions of the album which lets the tracks ring out for the run time they truly deserve. It also means all 11 tracks are now in a form better suited to drawn-out blends, which will no doubt satisfy the DJs amongst Kylie's considerable fan base. '10 out of 10' indeed.

Review: There has been a strong run of reissues of Kylie Minogue's albums in recent times, and it's a handy way to reflect on just how many lives Australia's pop queen has lived throughout her career. Here though, we're going all the way back to the start and the sugary pop perfection of her late 80s debut. While we now know there's so much more to her than 'I Should Be So Lucky', it's also tonnes of fun revisiting these unabashed feel-good hits and dismissing any guilty pleasure syndrome - this is the year of Barbie, after all. In keeping with the times, this is a neon pink vinyl edition too.

Review: American singer and songwriter Janelle Monae dropped her second album The Electric Lady back in 2013 and it was a fine follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut she broke through with in 2010. Critics again fawned over its songwriting and progressive soul style with influences of hip-hop, gospel, jazz, rock, pop and reggae. Dystopic cyborg concepts again defined the album with genre experience and plainspoken words exploring plenty of personal and emotional territory with guest appearances from high-profile names such as Miguel, Erykah Badu, Solange and Prince.

Review: American singer and songwriter Janelle Monae has been invigorating the world of hip-hop and r&b for well over a decade now with a series of well-received and still oft-referenced albums. The Age of Pleasure is her fourth and has been a long time coming for fans. The eight-time GRAMMY Award nominee has an inimitable style and visionary sound that often comes steeped in important social commentary. Monae herself is unwavering in her activism for social justice and the LGBTQIA+ community and this album shows she's just as fiery in the studio across two sides of wax that feature guests like Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, CKay, Sister Nancy and even the one and only Grace Jones.

Review: The work of American singer and songwriter Janelle Monae is being reissued now and for good reason - it has more than stood the test of time. After her second album The Electric Lady from 2013 reappeared back in June we are now traded to a limited edition clear vinyl version of Dirty Computer which was originally released back in 2018. It was the first one not to follow the Cindi Mayweather Metropolis narrative and moved away from her early psychedelic vibe towards a more pop, funk, hip hop and r&b style that also draws on trap, new wave and Latin. It was nominated for two Grammy Awards and got widespread critical acclaim for its celebration of queerness, female power, and self-worth.

This new double vinyl album The Collection looks at that period and has been carefully assembled and repackaged with plenty of her most well known singles, many of which became high chart successes for her in the States and across Europe. There are also some interesting soundtrack selections and a cover of 'Crazy,' which was originally a big hit for Seal. Other gems include of course 'Ironic' and 'Thank You'.

Yumi is a vocal coach and former singer who was active from the late 70s and through the 80s before opening her own Murata Yumi Vocal Training Room in 1991 and teaching ever since. This long-player was a later one out of the seven she released in all and is one of her most popular as it mixes up fusion, new wave, funk, pop and jazz across synth sounds. These are enjoyable and sophisticated sounds from this talented vocalist.

Review: Roisin Murphy seems to be getting more prolific with age. It's less than a year since the release of the critically acclaimed off-pop thriller Hairless Toys, and the Irish artist and former Moloko singer is ready to release the follow-up. Where its predecessor was bold, brassy and cheery, Take Her Up To Monto is an altogether more atmospheric affair, arguably closer in feel to her work with Moloko during the late '90s and early 2000s. Musically intriguing and largely downtempo in tone, it sees Murphy taking her left-of-centre take on pop in eccentric and evocative new directions. Even the album's most obviously upbeat moments - such as the cheery "Romantic Comedy" - feature musical backdrops that bristle with leftfield ideas and fuzzy, off-kilter electronics.
