Fighting For Your Life (Blood On The dance Floor remix) (5:58)
Fighting For Your Life (After Dark mix) (5:36)
Review: Lockdown Records has put together this useful new 12" which offers up the notorious duo of Matt Early & Lee Jeffries. 'Fighting for Your Life' is a classic pop single that comes with the electrifying Blood on the Dancefloor Mix and the sultry After Dark Mix, both of which are inspired by the iconic sounds of Michael Jackson. They make for effective dancefloor weapons that come with a hint of nostalgia and plenty of weighty grooves.

Bloody Mary (4:04)
Review: Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary, originally from her 2011 album Born This Way, is now available as a stunning glow-in-the-dark 12" single. Co-written and produced by Gaga, this track is a haunting electropop masterpiece. Incorporating elements of synth-pop, trance, and Gregorian chants, Gaga channels Mary Magdalene, a "feminine force" she revered since her Catholic school days. The song’s religious themes and dark, atmospheric production make it one of Gaga’s standout tracks. The limited edition features an etched B-side with pre-chorus lyrics and is housed in a striking picture sleeve. A great looking package for one of her best singles.

Let It Go (instrumental) (3:27)
Review: Lawson Jr'Music is based in Montreal in Canada and is a drummer, singer and music composer who has played all over the world since a young age. He brings a distinctive Afro vibe to his take on hip hop as demonstrated by this masterful new cut on BSide/Lawson Entertainment. 'Let It Go' is defined by its screwy bass down low and the echoing hits up top. Aside from that I'd an empty but atmospheric cut with yearning vocals and melancholic chords. The flispide instrumental allows the slick production to shine.

Montero (2:18)
That's What I Want (2:25)
Review: Kiss Klassics is keeping all you party DJs supplied with the best tackle once more here as this time they spotlight a trio of standout tracks from Montero Lamar Hill aka Lil Nas X's debut LP. Montero came back in 2021 and these cuts haven't been available on wax before now. There is the celebratory pomp and hefty distorted low end of 'Industry Baby' as well as the more deep sounds of 'Montero' with its strings, finger clicks and Afro-tinged beats, then the high-speed party pomp of 'That's What I Want' with its epic chorus and summer festival feel.

Review: This six-track EP, crated between the late 'Cloud rap' icon and producer Nedarb Nagrom, is a miraculous refind and repress. The EP originally dropped in 2016 during the early wave of Peep's rise to the broth cream of the etherground emo rap and SoundCloud scene. Peep was still in the thick of lo-fi, punk and emo experimentations, and fellow traveller Nedarb had already been a frequent collaborator. The Katy Perry song referenced in the title is a red herring, as these tracks are original internet artefacts through and through, bearing none of the same pop sensibilities; they're loose and aerated, packing slipshod 808s and drawly hooks from the pink-haired icon.

When We Die (Can We Still Get High?) (feat Lil Yachty) (5:05)
When We Die (Can We Still Get High?) (acoustic) (4:29)
Review: YUNGBLUD's hook-up with Lil Yachty is renowned amongst fans for its trippy production and tight, evocative, mind-melting bars. It has never before been on vinyl but this year's Record Store Day rights that wrong while serving it up with a superb, exclusive, introspective in-studio acoustic performance of the track. 'When We Die (Can We Still Get High?)' was first released on January 26, 2024 by Locomotion Recordings and Geffen Records and is a new school mix of alternative rock, psychedelia and hip-hop that explores themes of mortality and escapism with production by YUNGBLUD plus Matt Schwartz and Paul Meany. It's an introspective gem.

Review: Now released for the first time on vinyl in the UK, Parisian Nu-Disco sextet L'Imperatrice's 3rd EP Odyssee, released in 2015, was a 6-track journey through the dreamy, vintage sound of French disco-pop. Rereleased and renamed a year later under L'Empereur at a different speed, this gatefold contains the original EP as well as acoustic renditions of five tracks, plus a bonus track in Interlune, a strings piece that flows into the string instrumental of La Lune (Version Acoustique). The smooth bass and layered synth will hook you, but you'll stay for the vocal talents of Flore Benguigui who joined the outlet that same year. Her smooth tones are like melted butter against the bass. Odysee was a bold step for the band - but one that proved wildly successful and was just the beginning of the symphonic formula that L'Imperatrice has continued to refine to this day.

Genius (feat Lil Wayne - Lil Wayne remix) (3:13)
Review: LSD’s Remixes EP channels the group’s genre-blurring ethos into a collection that thrives on reinvention. Lil Wayne’s charged verse on ‘Genius’ adds grit without overshadowing the original’s playful intensity. MK’s remix of ‘Thunderclouds’ transforms its soaring vocals into a deep house anthem, all pulsing bass and late-night allure. Banx & Ranx’s reggae-infused take on ‘Genius’ radiates sun-soaked warmth, while Dombresky’s remix of ‘No New Friends’ packs a punch with relentless house energy. CID’s rework of ‘Audio’ dials up crisp, percussive beats that slice through its melodic core. Meanwhile, The Aston Shuffle injects ‘Heaven Can Wait’ with shimmering synth layers, balancing nostalgia with dancefloor readiness. Lost Frequencies’ remix of ‘Thunderclouds’ closes the record on a euphoric high, reframing its introspection with bright, festival-ready optimism. This is LSD’s universe expanded — familiar yet thrillingly unpredictable.

Review: This record marks a bold return to Lady Gaga's pop roots. It fuses the eclectic energy that first captivated her fans with a new and ever-fearless artistic vision that means she delves into themes of chaos and transformation while celebrating music's ability to unite, provoke and heal. Gaga has said that the album began as a response to her fear of returning to the pop sound her early fans loved. Far from merely nostalgic, Mayhem reinvents her signature style with a kaleidoscopic approach by drawing from her broad musical influences. Gaga compared the creative process to "reassembling a shattered mirror," and has created something beautifully new from the pieces.

Review: Lady Gaga's brand new album Mayhem documents yet another modification in look and feel for today's North Star of pop music: the 'Bad Romance' conquistador has described her latest record as "utter chaos", fusing influences from 90s alt-rock, electro-grunge, Prince and Bowie-esque melodies, funk, French electro-house, and analog synths. Headed up by the lead single 'Disease', Gaga's visually striking yet newly gothicized turn is quite unsettling, offering a fresh "era" in the pop pantomorph's approach, which invites comparisons to Taylor Swift and David Bowie, yet more latexy.

Review: Many critics have dubbed Lady Gaga's Mayhem, the superstar's latest full-length excursion, as a return to her pop roots - not to mention her strongest and most coherent set since breakthrough album Fame. Recorded at Rick Rubin's studio with the help of a crack team of producers, the assembled songs variously draw on synth-pop, EDM style pop-house, gritty industrial funk, the gnarled strut of electroclash and, perhaps more surprisingly, guitar-driven alt-rock. Naturally, Gaga is in fine form throughout, sassily and confidently delivering lyrics that muse on "love, chaos, fame and desire". This Japanese CD edition comes bundled with an art card, stickers and an expansive booklet.

Review: Lady Gaga's latest album is as bold, chaotic and emotionally charged as you would expect of the singular artist as she returns to her pop roots. Blending electro-grunge with theatrical flair, Gaga embraces fame and identity across 14 tracks that span snarling anthems like 'Perfect Celebrity' to raw love songs like 'Blade of Grass.' Along the way are nods to Bowie, Nine Inch Nails and disco, which all bring many layers of intrigue next to the vulnerability and bombast of the vocals. To that point, Gaga's voice shapeshifts from snarling to purring to belting as she examines fame's toll and personal transformation. Though maximalist to the core, MAYHEM never loses its heart and is messy, loud, and thrilling proof Gaga is still defining pop on her own terms.

Review: Lany frontman Paul Klein leave us in precious little doubt there that he's lovelorn - almost every song on this self-titled record bemoans some melancholic development in his romantic life, set to a cinematic soundscape that's equally beholden to the synth-starred soundscapes of the '80s and modern R&B. Luckily for all and sundry however, these plaintive and potent laments find a way to alchemically transform base angst into audial gold, arriving on a cinematic plateau in which the dislocation of the modern era is subverted to form a bittersweet party soundtrack looking likely to last the remaining days of summer at the very least.

This new era was announced a year ago and was ushered in with four singles including 'Congrats,' 'Love At First Fight', 'Alonica' and 'XXL' which all built anticipation for the album. Review: Returning after a veritable splash in the chart-topping world of pop nearly ten years ago - and having laid down three full studio albums already - Zara Larsson fleshes out her brand evermore with the upcoming fourth LP, Venus. In keeping with a full Larsson coming-of-age, the Swedish it-girl fulfils her promise of an album chock-full of "uptempo, fun dance songs", albeit with an glitzier edge, and the sound of an artist assuming more ownership over her output, centring on the theme of feminine autonomy in the form of tracks like 'Can't Tame Her' and 'On My Love' with David Guetta. She's come a long, long way from 'Lush Life', exploring a multi-temporal brand of electronic pop and reclaiming her place in the limelight.

The album traverses her evolution from angsty teen anthems to more mature, reflective songs like 'When You're Gone' and 'Keep Holding On.' Each track is a testament to her ability to blend pop, rock and punk elements seamlessly and, as such, serves as a nostalgic journey for longtime fans and a great introduction to new to the Lavigne party.

Review: Avril Lavigne's debut album Let Go remains a significant pop punk milestone. Emerging from Napanee, Ontario, Lavigne swiftly transitioned from singing Pentecostal hymns to winning a singing contest to perform with Shania Twain. By 2002, she transformed into a pop-punk icon, delivering hits like 'Complicated' and 'Sk8er Boi.' Her collaboration with the Matrix production team brought forth a blend of scrappy attitude and polished pop melodies, resulting in genre-defining tracks. Songs like 'I'm With You' and 'Anything but Ordinary' showcased her emotional depth and vocal prowess. Let Go's success, now certified platinum seven times over, paved the way for alternative-influenced pop, influencing a generation of artists and solidifying Lavigne's legacy. Now reissued on turquoise vinyl, Let Go continues to resonate as a raw and vibrant portrayal of teenage angst and authenticity.

Review: Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin stands out as an underrated album in her career. While lacking big hits like her debut, this album has higher-quality songwriting and a more refined execution of her signature sound. The album's ballads, though fewer in number, feel more sincere and impactful, with tracks like 'Don't Tell Me' resonating even today. The pop-punk tracks also shine, with songs like 'He Wasn't' and 'I Always Get What I Want' surpassing her previous hits in energy and grit. Lavigne's vocal performance is a highlight, especially evident on tracks like 'Forgotten' and 'Slipped Away,' where her range and emotion shine through. Under My Skin not only fixes issues from her debut but also elevates her songwriting and performance, making it a record of the 2000s that deserves more recognition. Now on marbled grey vinyl, another reason to dive in and purchase.

Review: Goodbye Lullaby, Avril Lavigne's fourth studio album, reissued on white vinyl, delves deeply into the emotional turmoil following her divorce from Sum 41's Deryck Whibley. The album oscillates between defiant anthems like 'What The Hell' and 'Smile,' and heartfelt ballads that reflect a pervasive sense of lost love. Tracks like 'Not Enough' and 'Push' showcase Lavigne's struggle with discontent and failed expectations, while the bittersweet 'I Love You' poignantly captures the inevitability of love's demise. The closing track, 'Lullaby,' encapsulates the album's overarching theme of defeat and departure, leaving listeners with a sense of unresolved melancholy. This reissue celebrates Lavigne's ability to convey genuine heartbreak.

Review: Avril Lavigne's The Best Damn Thing marked a return to her pop-punk roots when it dropped in 2007, shedding the sombre tones of her previous album, Under My Skin. Embracing an unapologetically energetic and bubblegum sound, Lavigne delivers an album filled with catchy, anthemic tracks. The lead single, 'Girlfriend,' with its infectious hook borrowed from Toni Basil's 'Mickey,' sets the tone for a record bursting with potential hits. Songs like 'I Can Do Better,' 'Everything Back But You' and the title track showcase Lavigne's knack for crafting empowering, high-energy anthems. The Best Damn Thing proves Lavigne's ability to navigate pop-punk territory with confidence, ensuring her place as a standout in the genre - fans of early Sum 41 and Pink will find much to love here.

Review: Mind Games, John Lennon's fourth solo album released in late October 1973, arrived amid personal turmoil and political unrest, reflecting Lennon's ongoing battles with US immigration and his anti-Vietnam war activism. Recorded at NYC's Record Plant with a stellar lineup of musicians, the album is overseen by Yoko Ono Lennon and produced by Sean Ono Lennon, offering a fully remixed and expanded audio experience. Lennon's songwriting delves into his relationship with Ono, showcasing heartfelt tracks like the title song and 'Aisumasen (I'm Sorry),' imbued with sincerity and emotion. Other highlights include the politically charged 'Bring On the Lucie (Freda People)' and the '50s-inspired 'Tight A$.' The album excels in composition, production, and lyrical depth, epitomizing Lennon's creative strength. Mind Games sees Lennon's resilience and artistic evolution. Its eclectic mix of themes and musical styles, from rock to balladry, renders it a timeless classic. With its heartfelt sincerity and imaginative flair, Mind Games remains a great listen through Lennon's multifaceted artistry.

Review: The all-female African supergroup Les Amazones d'Afrique, who've included some of the biggest stars in African music, here make a triumphant return, channelling a fresh sound on their third album Musow Danse. Forming in Bamako, Mali, in 2014 between three renowned Malian musicians and activists - Mamani Keita, Oumou Sangare and Mariam Doumbia - Les Amazones d'Afrique has since expanded to involve many female artists from across Africa and the diaspora. Combining a just cause - campaigning for gender equality and eradicating ancestral violence - with a slick, enticingly trap-influenced sound; we've got a potent cocktail on our hands. Richly melodic and far-ranging, Musow Danse blends pan-African styles and collaborative harmonies with gritty, contemporary pop, riffing off the idiosyncratic Congotronics producer Doctor L, and embracing a powerful pop sound led by 808s and glitchy synths.

Review: A new compilation which looks to celebrate the unheralded period of hugely successful Isle of Wight pop/funk band Level 42, named that after their cult funk days in the early 80s and their chart-topping victories in the middle and end of the decade. Music on Vinyl helps celebrate their 90s years with this compilation that spans the albums Guaranteed (1991) and Forever Now (1994). Originally released in 2007, this limited edition 2xLP set, pressed on vibrant 180-gram yellow vinyl, highlights the band's unique blend of funk, pop and jazz influences, with a mix of infectious grooves and introspective lyrics. The first side opens with the title track, 'Past Lives', a slick funk-driven number that sets the tone for the compilation, followed by the energetic 'Guaranteed' and the introspective 'Overtime'. Tracks like 'My Father's Shoes' explore deeper emotional landscapes, while 'Forever Now' explores the band's ability to craft smooth, soulful anthems. Side three is a ideal, featuring the infectious 'Model Friend' and the jazzy 'Romance'. Meanwhile, 'One in a Million' is a perfect example of the band's ability to blend pop hooks with sophisticated arrangements. Side four closes the compilation on a high note with 'If You Were Mine', a catchy, uplifting finale. The four-page booklet provides context for this fruitful period in Level 42's career, and the limited yellow vinyl adds an extra layer of collectible charm.

Review: This brand new 2xCD set celebrates Level 42's 1985 top three album World Machine, which was produced with Wally Badarou. The album reached #3 in early 1986 and features the hit singles 'Something About You' which peaked at #6, and 'Leaving Me Now' which went on to reach #15. In the U.S., a Shep Pettibone remix of 'Something About You' became their highest-charting single by hitting #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. CD1 includes the original album, while CD2 offers some fresh 7" edits, 12" extended versions, remixes and B-sides. Review: Here, celebrating its 40th anniversary, Level 42's World Machine returns with a special reissue of the 1985 album that launched them to global fame. Departing from their jam-based roots, the band embraced a more structured songwriting process and also set to work producing the album themselves with engineer Julian Mendelsohn. The result was a polished, pop-funk breakthrough led by the hit single 'Something About You' which of course became a Top 10 hit worldwide, including in the U.S. Follow-up singles like the emotive 'Leaving Me Now' and the infectious "'World Machine' cemented the album's success and helped mark a major turning point in the band's career and 80s pop history.

Now it arrives on white vinyl for the first time thanks to Death Note Music and reminds us what a talent he was. Peep's raw lyricism and distinctive emo-rap style set him apart with haunting melodies and melancholic production. The record delves into themes of loneliness and despair, resonating deeply with listeners navigating the complexities of modern relationships and Peep's poignant delivery and introspective verses capture the essence of youthful anguish with bars that reverberate long after the music fades.

Review: Seven years ago, Dua Lipa's debut album marked a confident, powerful entry into the pop scene. The British-Albanian singer effortlessly fused tropical house, EDM,and sleek pop with a distinct sense of self-assurance. Tracks like 'New Rules' and 'Hotter Than Hell' highlighted her knack for crafting catchy, anthemic hits, while 'Blow Your Mind (Mwah)' showcased her unapologetic style. Collaborations with Miguel and Chris Martin added depth, but it was her commanding presence that stole the spotlight on tracks like 'Lost in Your Light' and 'IDGAF', an empowering anthem of self-worth. While moments like the vulnerable 'Homesick' brought a quieter, introspective side, the album remained a consistent celebration of confidence, joy and resilience. This limited-edition picture disc version offers a tangible connection to this defining moment in pop music, celebrating an artist who knew exactly how to own her moment.

Review: Pop sensation Dua Lipa went through an early-career reinvention by the point of her second album Future Nostalgia, whose title will surely go on to provide much theoretical fodder for the musicologists of 2045. Embracing the now deemed "retro" influences of funk, disco and synthpop (though their redemption as such is contestable, given that there are modern examples of each and every one of these still being made), Lipa worked with a range of producers, including hitmakers like Greg Kurstin, Stuart Price, and Ian Kirkpatrick, to create a femme-forward bannering of almost every pop sound that has "hit" so far. This new 3xLP set further expands on the implied scopic ambition, pulling listeners into a titivated soundscape chock-full of alternate versions and visions.

Collaborating with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Lipa explores diverse musical styles, incorporating elements of acoustic indie pop alongside her signature disco flair. Tracks like 'End of an Era' and 'Houdini' highlight her knack for catchy melodies, while songs such as 'These Walls' and 'French Exit' reveal her willingness to experiment with different textures and arrangements. Hard to live up to her previous album's heights, the album stands out well with individual moments that sparkle with creativity and depth. The lush instrumentation and vocal versatility illustrate Lipa's growth as an artist, making it clear she is unafraid to take risks. The album is an enjoyable experience overall and might just surprise many critics.

With breakout rockstar energies and edgy hyperpop production, Atler Ego is a culminant musing on what it means to be a popstar or rockstar in 2025: like Taylor Swift, Lisa explores many different eras, with the album moving in five phases, each one representing a unique personality: in turn, Lisa appears in front of: a monolithic black rock structure, an outer-space catwalk, an enchanted garden, a green laser-beam motorcycle track and a volcanic red runway.

Review: Three months after rapper turned singer Lizzo's major label debut first appeared on CD and digital download, Atlantic has decided to offer up a deluxe vinyl edition of the well-received set featuring three bonus tracks. Prior to release, Lizzo admitted she wanted to become "this generation's Aretha Franklin"; while she's not at the late soul legend's standard just yet, there's enough on "Cuz I Love You" to suggest that she's going in the right direction. Her vocals are variously confident, powerful, strutting and tender, with the accompanying backing tracks mixing hip-hop and R&B style beats with raucous guitars, bombastic basslines, Daft Punk style synth stabs (think "Robot Rock" and "Technologic") and occasional nods towards more pastoral, semi-acoustic sounds. Above all, though, the album is funky, forthright and hugely entertaining.

Review: Quiet revolution seems to be the driving force of this sophomore set from lauded trio London Grammar. Lyricist and vocalist Hannah Reid has expanded her subject matter a little, though angst and love lost are still her major concern. Her delivery, too, is a little gentler, something presumably party inspired by the band's warmer and dreamier musical outlook. There are a few heartfelt sing-alongs, of course, but for the most part Truth is a Beautiful Thing is a more considered and voluptuous excursion.

The album marks a significant evolution for the band, reflecting their journey over eleven years since their debut If You Wait. With lead single 'House' symbolising empowerment, the album blends electronica with pop, showcasing tracks like 'Fakest Bitch,' which highlights Hannah Reid's powerful vocals and raw, introspective lyrics. The release follows their successful Californian Soil and notable touring achievements, including performances with Coldplay and record-breaking UK tour sales. The Greatest Love captures the band's shift from relentless touring to prioritising art and personal growth, a reflection of their expanded confidence and evolving musical approach. It's a celebration of their artistic journey and commitment to music, balancing personal and creative fulfillment.

Review: American singer Jennifer Lopez's third album This Is Me Then trend 20 years old in November 2022. On the day of its anniversary, Lopez announced she would be releasing a sequel in 2023, and we can't wait, frankly. This is a classic soul, R&B and hip-hop fusion with plenty of effortlessly catchy grooves and silky top lines from Lopez. 'Jenny From The Block' will always be the album's most iconic tune but the likes of 'Loving You' and 'Dear Ben' (Affleck, presumably, with whom is now back once again) sit up there with the likes of Brandy and Ashanti as classics of the era.

Review: Some Lorde fans were a little irritated by 'Solar Power', the lead single from her comeback album of the same name, primarily because it sounded far more influenced by cheery '90s indie-pop and summery blue-eyed soul than her moodier early work. She's carried that over into album, which arrives as a boxed high-res download with tons of additional content (poster, postcards, booklet and so on). The singer-songwriter's first set in for years is full of gently warming fare, from the opaque, dewy-eyed folk of 'Stoned in the Nail Station', to the early 2000s R&B-pop-goes-summer soul flex of recent single 'Mood Ring'. There's no glum moodiness here, just gently positive music to raise your mood in these most testing of times.

Review: This collaboration album La Comitiva on Bubbles marks a unique partnership between Erlend Oye and the Italian band La Comitiva. Blending indie pop, folk, and electronic elements, it delivers a fresh and innovative sound and new take on pop. Erlend Oye's soulful vocals and reflective lyrics are enriched by La Comitiva's rich instrumentation to create an immersive journey through diverse musical influences and inspirations. From the catchy rhythms of 'Garota' to the dreamy ambiance of 'Fence Me In,' each track offers distinct melodies and storytelling that stay with you. There are emotive vocals and dynamic instrumentation throughout as well as some genre-defying sounds all of which will captivate fans old and new.

Review: Since Light In The Attic embarked on its comprehensive Nancy Sinatra Archival Series, it has done wondrous justice to the towering career of the American popular singer. But the work isn't done yet, and the latest chipping-away at the cinderblock comes in the form of a reissue (surprisingly not ever reissued before) of Nancy & Lee Again, her second trailblazing duet album with Lee Hazlewood. Haunting, nostalgic and full of sunned takes on a marriage, splits, lost jobs and general social tumult - the stories are narrated by Hazlewood in his best gruff voice - the overall tone of this album could be said to be predictive of shoegaze, as it is generously doused in reverb, but the similarity ends there. Sinatra's stark Americana influences are most obvious; they shine through on the use of sublime slide guitar ('Did You Ever'), skiffling ¾ metres, and twangy banjo fingerstylings.
