Derived from the excellent Lyra-8, the Lyra-4 features a similar 'organismic' approach to synthesis. Four-voice non-linear architecture offers unique tones in a compact, portable format.

Supplier's Notes:
Introducing the revived version of LYRA-4 organismic synthesiser, the younger sister of the famous LYRA-8. "Organismic" means that LYRA uses some principles that lie in the base of living organisms. The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation. It's smaller and weighs less but is equally rugged in design, and still packs a lot of punch. This makes it easy to fit in a backpack and perfect for taking the LYRA sound on the road. And playing two LYRA-4s can actually sound very different than just one LYRA-8.

LYRA-4 is based on four generators, which will be referred to as voices. Their design is not like a traditional subtractive synthesis VCO. Instead of having a linear or logarithmic dependency on control voltage, they resemble the tone generators in old electric organs. Hence the use of the term "voices" instead of "VCOs". Lyra uses non-linearity a lot, and the voices are constructed in such a way that allows for non-linearity to express itself.

The voices are divided into two pairs (12, 34), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-4 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of delay with feedback. The delay has a unique possibility of self-modulation where the output signal modulates the delay sample rate, creating cool effects.

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

For all its experimental character, LYRA is a professional instrument. Its output dynamics and frequency response are balanced and ready for a live performance or studio recording without any additional processing.

SoMa Laboratory Harvezi Hazze Distortion Effect Pedal SoMa Laboratory Harvezi Hazze Distortion Effect Pedal SoMa Laboratory Harvezi Hazze Distortion Effect Pedal SoMa Laboratory Harvezi Hazze Distortion Effect Pedal

A versatile and unique distortion pedal with a wide tonal palette.
Notes: Harvezi Hazze is a versatile and unique distortion pedal with a wide tonal palette.

The heart of Harvezi Hazze is a waveshaper designed around a unijunction transistor, a relic from the early days of the semiconductor industry unearthed from the e-waste bins of flea markets in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The unique properties of the unijunction transistor allow one simple component to replace a number of very complex devices: depending on the operating mode, we can get a distortion, a limiter, a waveshaper and a generator - with a smooth transition between them. Experiments have shown that this transistor is an excellent basis for a distortion stompbox.

The name translates from Georgian as "a fault on the transmission line" or "signal jamming", and both the semantic and phonetic natures of it unequivocally imply what to expect - an impediment to the input signal, ranging from pleasant harmonic distortions to complete obliteration. The signal chain of the unit consists of an optical compressor with fixed parameters; a dual-mode distorting amplifier with either softer or harsher clipping; a waveshaper built around a unijunction transistor; and a tone stack section trying to tame all this mess.

Signal Chain:

Input -> Compressor -> Distorting amplifier -> Waveshaper -> Tone stack -> Output

Controls:

Gain - controls the output amplitude of the signal in the distorting amplifier section. Depending on the position of the switch, the distortion introduced by this section is soft (switch in the left position) or more aggressive with an abundance of high harmonics (middle position).

Spoil and Spread - control the operation of the unijunction transistor (waveshaper section). Spoil sets the point on the amplitude axis at which the wave will fold, and Spread sets the amplitude of the folding. The sonic meaning of these knobs can be described as follows: the higher the Spread value, the more severe the distortion will be, and Spoil changes timbre and response threshold. By adjusting Spoil you can achieve various gating and cutoff effects. At low Spread values, distortion sounds are mixed into the clean sound.

Tone - adjusts the brightness of the sound; the higher the value, the more high harmonics are present in the signal.

The switch regulates either the distortion mode in the amplifier section (left and center positions), or it turns on the total feedback mode (right position), when the values of all knobs begin to influence each other and effects occur such as resonance at certain frequencies and self-oscillation.

Level - controls the output volume of the signal.

The footswitch routes the signal through the effect circuitry or from input to output directly (true bypass).

The array of switches on the side of the unit gives a few more tonal options:

TONE STACK - routes the signal through the tone stack section (Tone knob).

BASS BOOST - enhances bass frequencies.

TONE MODE - changes the behaviour of the Tone knob (tilt or lowpass).

NOTCH FREQ - changes the central frequency of the filter.

HIGH CUT - attenuates high frequencies.

COMPRESSOR - routes the signal through the compressor.

The lower position of the switch enables the function.

Examples:

Compression:

Switch in the central position, Spoil, Spread, Gain - min, Tone - 12 o'clock.

TONE STACK - on. BASS BOOST - on, TONE MODE - off, NOTCH FREQ - off, HIGH CUT - off, COMPRESSOR - on.

Soft clipping:

Switch in the left position, Spoil, Spread - min, Tone - 12 o'clock, Gain - 2 o'clock.

TONE STACK - on. BASS BOOST - on, TONE MODE - off, NOTCH FREQ - on, HIGH CUT - off, COMPRESSOR - on.

Distortion:

Switch in the middle, Spoil, Spread - min, Tone - 1 o'clock, Gain - max.

TONE STACK - on. BASS BOOST - on, TONE MODE - off, NOTCH FREQ - off, HIGH CUT - off, COMPRESSOR - off.

8-voice organismic analogue synthesiser
Notes: Pink version of Soma's excellent Lyra-8. Brilliantly unusual synth based on eight analogue tone generators, functioning more like an electric organ or FM synth than a conventional subtractive architecture. Unique sound.

Supplier's Notes:

The DISTORTION is last in the chain, after the delay. It enables the delay to also influence the distortion.

Organismic drum machine with screws
Notes: Black version of arguably the best experimental drum synth in the world. Unique semi-modular, 'organismic' design with over 100 patch points and extensive controls for the four drum channels.

Supplier's Notes:
PULSAR-23 is an organismic drum machine designed by Vlad Kreimer. It has a semi-modular structure and consists of 23 independent modules. PULSAR can be used for the synthesis of percussion instruments and rhythms, bass and melodic lines, effects and sound landscapes, as well as a source of control voltage and powerful analog FX processor.
The PULSAR functions in three different modes: stand-alone, MIDI control and CV control. Moreover, all the above features and control modes can work simultaneously in any proportion or combination.
Additionally, PULSAR offers live circuit bending capabilities and the use of the artist's body conductivity to create patches and cross modulations. PULSAR continues the line of organismic synthesizers begun by LYRA-8, but now in the area of percussion instruments.

PULSAR-23 main features:

- 4 drum channels: Bass drum, Bass\Percussion, Snare drum, Cymbals\Hi-Hat
- 4 envelope generators with the unique ability to generate a sustain for the drum channels, turning them into noise\drone synthesizers. - 4 independent loop recorders with the option for individual clocking. They record triggering events, not audio.
- Clock generator with an array of dividers as a very powerful tool for rhythm synthesis.
- Wide range LFO (0.1 - 5000Hz) with variable waveform.
- Shaos - a unique pseudo-random generator based on shift registers with 4 independent outputs, sample and hold and other cool features.
- FX processor with CV control incl. CV control of the entire DSP's sample rate.
- Distortion.
- 2 CV-controlled gates.
- 2 CV-controlled VCAs.
- 2 controllable inverters.

Also, it has MIDI control and synchronization and a lot of smaller modules such as 4 assignable attenuators and 2 dynamic CV sensors for CV generation etc. In general, there are 55 knobs, 11 switches and over 100 inputs and outputs for patching, Eurorack integration, external mixing and processing, live circuit bending!

It comes with 30 alligator clips cables and PSU.

The PULSAR-23 Screw has the same functionality as the PULSAR Turret, but at a much lower price, because we used screws instead of expensive custom turrets (on the first photo the black one with turrets, and the white one with the screws)

Organismic drum machine with screws
Notes: PULSAR-23 is an organismic drum machine designed by Vlad Kreimer.

Organismic drum machine with turrets
Notes: Typically creative stuff from Soma Lab, here in a fresh light green colourway. Four channels of analogue drum synthesis, unique looping trigger generators, pseudo-random 'Shaos' generator and DSP-based effects.

Supplier's Notes:
PULSAR-23 is an organismic drum machine designed by Vlad Kreimer. It has a semi-modular structure and consists of 23 independent modules. PULSAR can be used for the synthesis of percussion instruments and rhythms, bass and melodic lines, effects and sound landscapes, as well as a source of control voltage and powerful analogue FX processor.

Additionally, PULSAR offers live circuit bending capabilities and the use of the artist's body conductivity to create patches and cross modulations. PULSAR continues the line of organismic synthesizers begun by LYRA-8, but now in the area of percussion instruments.

Please note that Pulsar is an experimental analogue synth that means that it has some small noise and bleeds that can't affect your studio production or live performance but can be hearable in some modes. If you need a perfect silence and isolation of sound modules, it is recommended that you use 100% digital hardware.

What's in the kit:
PULSAR-23
PSU
22 multi-colour cables with alligator clips 65cm
8 multi-colour cables with alligator clips 30cm
High-quality handmade bag for transportation

8-voice organismic analogue synthesiser
Notes: Welcome to the world of sound of LYRA-8, the unique organismic analogue synthesiser designed by Vlad Kreimer. "Organismic" means that LYRA uses some principles that lie in the base of living organisms. The way how LYRA's modules interacting between each other and the behaviour of the instrument resembles a live conversation.

LYRA-8 is based on eight generators, which will be referred to as voices.

The voices are divided into four pairs (12, 34, 56, 78). All the pairs are divided in two groups, with two pairs in each (1234, 5678), creating tree-like structure.

The voices can function either in an electric organ mode or in an FM synthesis mode with each of the voices and its envelope acting as a separate FM operator. The voice's impact on FM synthesis will decrease along with the decay of its envelope.

LYRA-8 also has the next blocks:

The HYPER LFO is a complex low-frequency generator, whose waveform is synthesized from two simple LFOs by summation or multiplication of their frequencies. It also has a sync mode. The LFO can modulate the selected pairs of voices and the MOD DELAY.

The MOD DELAY consists of two lines of delay with cross-feedback and a special architecture that enables resonance between the two lines. Each line's delay time can be individually modulated from various sources, including external ones.
