Review: Like many UK garage-loving producers of their generation, Interplanetary Criminal and DJ Cosworth are happiest when they're creating bustling, bass-heavy blends of classic speed garage, two-step and early 2000s bassline house. It's this hybrid sound that they explore on their first collaborative EP for Timeisnow. They set their stall out with the soon-to-be massive heaviness of 'Trust Me', an A-side roller where gunshot sounds, Mr Oizo motifs, warped bass and low-register stabs ride a rolling speed garage beat. 'Ruff Hyper Mix' adds sampled synth-sax sounds and creepy chords to a bombastic backing track reminiscent of 187 Lockdown's 'Ripgroove', while 'Jumpin' is a naughty two-step affair featuring sampled rewind sounds, high-end Korg M-1 type melodies and more echoing vocal snippets.
