Review: Interplanetary Criminal goes from strength to strength, following up on the breakthrough success of a major label production credit for Eliza Rose to deliver his fifth drop for Timeisnow. As you should know by now, low down dirty garage is the order of the day on this 12", with Killa P upping the levels by gripping the mic on deadly lead track 'Gangster Time'. Meanwhile, the subs get centre stage billing on 'MC Tip', with ample space left for Main Phase to spit bars over the top. 'Beat Work' slips a little Dance Mania sass into the 4x4 bounce of the beat, while 'Coming On Strong' amps up that feeling with an absolute monster b-line that will get mosh pits breaking out if you dare unleash it on a proper system.

Review: Like many UK garage-loving producers of their generation, Interplanetary Criminal and DJ Cosworth are happiest when they're creating bustling, bass-heavy blends of classic speed garage, two-step and early 2000s bassline house. It's this hybrid sound that they explore on their first collaborative EP for Timeisnow. They set their stall out with the soon-to-be massive heaviness of 'Trust Me', an A-side roller where gunshot sounds, Mr Oizo motifs, warped bass and low-register stabs ride a rolling speed garage beat. 'Ruff Hyper Mix' adds sampled synth-sax sounds and creepy chords to a bombastic backing track reminiscent of 187 Lockdown's 'Ripgroove', while 'Jumpin' is a naughty two-step affair featuring sampled rewind sounds, high-end Korg M-1 type melodies and more echoing vocal snippets.

Review: Increasingly vital garage label Time Is Now keeps on kicking with this superb various artist six tracker. It recalls close associates like Holloway and Interplanetary Criminal as wells enlisting new names. All shades and sodas are covered here with face mangling jams like 'Mercy' covering the darker end of the spectrum and more sweet and fluid jams like 'Uptown' from Ollie Rant bringing plenty of soul, and a healthy dose of sax. Vocal pumpers from Soul Mass Transit and dubbed out minimalism from Holloway complete this most crucial of cuts.

Review: We continue to be fully enamoured by the garage sounds getting dropped everywhere from the Midlands to Berlin to London. Much of it comes from Time Is Now, frankly, as does this new All Stars collection. It is the fourth in the series and is once more chock full of jams. Soul Mass Transit System & Introspekt keep it deep and seductive, Yemi brings a darker jungle vibe, Daffy's 'Check 1' is steeped in the same sound sources and Groovy D's 'Don'tCareBoutMe' then drops into a slinky 2-step vibe that is full of feels.
