Review: Skint cull four of their biggest hits from last years fifteenth anniversary comp for this twelve inch that demonstrates the breadth of their output. Side A pitches Tiga's classic 07 electro reworking of Tomas Anderson against the industrial techno pressure that is Dave Clarke's "Dirtbox". On the flip you get a reminder of when MSTRKRFT were actually quite good with their thumping rework of Goose which is an uneasy bed fellow for X Press 2's chart bothering deep house collab with David Byrne. These tracks have been out of print for ages so it's nice to get another opportunity to grab them on vinyl.

Review: New music from Morgan Geist will always be celebrated thanks to his role in Metro Area, and more recently Storm Queen, and the New York producer is certainly on effervescent form with this debut 12" under his new project The Galleria. The four track Calling Card 12" finds Geist calling on the spirit of freestyle, club dubs, razor-edits and bubblegum-pop R&B there is something immediately satisfying to each one of them. Hyperdub artist Jessy Lanza provides some thrilling vocals to both original versions of "Calling Card" and "Mezzanine", the latter is a particularly sweet proposition, and Geist also contributes some superb '80s style dubs.

Stop Messing With My Love

Review: Upstart producers from Boston J Paul Getto are a duo with a knack for direct, funky house cuts that slide in neatly next to label peers such as DJ Sneak on their new home with Guesthouse. The lead track "3000" is actually a more sensitive cut with plaintive keys, chord progressions and a smooth shuffle, but on the flip things get properly bumpy. "Need More Music" slices up disco in a floor-burning mixture of jacked up beat, pumping bassline and filtered build-up / break downs. Likewise "Stop Messing With My Love" waves its horns loud and proud, keeping the funky guitar licks rolling throughout and the vocals coming in bold and brassy in that jubilant disco-house style.

Review: Mike Gill who has already featured on Roots For Bloom teams up with Taymor Zadeh to bring us the Coppin' A Feel EP featuring a John Dimas remix. The A side "Coppin' A Feel" brings us hard hitting groove with a hypnotic vocal line carrying the track. Loose percussion and bold tom drums really cement this to work on any dance floor. The B side cut "The Message" is a more rolling groove with a strong Rhodes line that features later on really making the track evolve. John Dimas takes "The Message" and takes the atmosphere up a notch, with slick cut up vocals. This one will work in the early hours.
