Shadow Of Love
AME feat CURSES
Cat: IVLP 16S1. Rel: 17 Dec 24
Shadow Of Love (club version) (4:53)
Shadow Of Love (instrumental) (4:54)
Review: There's something unavoidably magnetic about the intersection between ambition and self-awareness and this release, by Charonne, Nemo Vachez, Umberto and T Oceans, knows exactly how to tap into that tension. With each track, there's an undeniable undercurrent of both vulnerability and swaggeriproducers twisting minimal beats into something far deeper, dragging you through shadows with a mix of melancholy and movement. You feel the weight of their collective sound but also their defiant lightness, straddling the line between introspective and dancefloor-driven music. It's a textured, driving release with an ever-present air of mystery.

Sunday (Sitan Klo remix)
Review: Right now, Ozgur Can is getting a lot of attention worldwide with his music. His storming productions and explosive DJ sets have already made him one of the most respected figures on the electro/tech scene, and is touted as being one of the most forward thinking talents, both as a DJ and a producer! His interest for sounds, tones and beats developed during the years as he spent his time listening to everything from trance, house and techno to pop, hip hop and alternative music. This wide musical background is also clearly reflected in his current sound; he has an open mind and is not afraid to cross boundaries and take new paths. His unique and diverse style has resulted in releases on labels like Precinct, Armada & Lost Language and has won him fans such as Paul Oakenfold, Hernan Cattaneo, James Holden, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, & Max Graham. Here he provides Sweden's ACDC imprint with one of his much sought after productions in the form of "Sunday". An electro biased emotional slab of a track, with explosive electronic battle weapon beats & f**ked up striding melodies. This one has had support from the likes of Sasha, Max Graham, Armin van Buuren, and Tiesto to name just a very few. On the flip his "Furry Nipples" production partner Stian Klo takes the track down a fiery progressive journey. A peak time killer that has found love with Anthony Pappa, James Holden, & Paul van Dyke.

Blue Steel
Review: After a two year production break, Alex Carbo is back. Tight beats and trancey accents lead to uplifting moments somewhere between romantic techno and freaky minimal tunes. The title track, "Scorpio", immerses you in a shimmering soundscape with it's pushing echo-chords and soft pads. "Aeon" is a melodic rave-like hymn with a slow, growing synth theme fading excessively into infinity. "Blue Steel" follows with a well balanced mixture of sound effects and percussion.

Lose Control
Cat: GFAB 001. Rel: 20 Jul 06
Lose Control (original mix)
Lose Control (Denis & Jerry remix)
Review: The long awaited follow up to "Give Up The Funk" is finally here, and what better a label for it to be released on then Ian Carey's brand new imprint GFAB Records. Ian Carey's collaboration with Swiss duo The Good Guys has turned in one dancefloor scorcher. On the production tip Ian has wondered into yet another domain, this time into the dirty bass driven electro/house territory, while The Good Guys supply a well written and demanding vocal to sit right on top. Remix duties are taken over by the super hot duo Jerry Ropero and Denis the Menace. Jerry and Denis's mix takes the track into the funky latin piano led vibe perfect for the summer season and sure to be thrown down at every terrace on Ibiza. "Playing on the show" - Pete Tong, "I like it!" - Axwell, "Like the original mix" - Kid Crème, "Yep this is very cool" - Hardsoul, "Both mixes work for me although the main mix takes the prize" - ATFC, "Great electro with the right splash of funk. Will rock the crowd in my sets for sure" - Chris Lake, "Great track - funky but with nods towards the electronic scene" - James Wiltshire (Freemasons), "Feeling this - main mix for me" - Michael Gray, "Really feelin the Jerry Ropero mix.. Perfect for the upcoming summer gigs" - Kid Massive, "Original mix is Hot!" - Mark Brown (MYNC/CR2), "Will certainly be playing this. Strong groovy stuff, Ian with a twist!" - Olav Basoski, "This will rock in bigger rooms. Both mixes are very effective. Will play it out 4 sure" - Sergio Flores, "Big big fan of Ian Carey and Denis & Jerry.. what a package we have here" - Soul Avengerz, "The man is at it again with a deeper dirty sound and we can't get enough!" - Stonebridge, "'I like both mixes, especially Denis & Jerry's. Nice and bangin! Wicked stuff!!" - Timmy Vegas, "Yep feeling it - both mixes" - Warren Clarke.

Euphoria EP

Mikey's Attic (6:42)
Euphoria (7:10)
Strike (6:44)
Lush Void (6:28)
Review: he North Macedonia label Pirka releases its fifth album and features four excellent tracks by the longtime producer Vincent Casanova. Things begin with the addictive melodic burner 'Mikey's Attic", which has a great balance of being futuristic with being retro enough to get everyone to the dancefloor. 'Euphoria' is bit more reserved but deeper. The track sneaks up on you as rhythmic elements continue to change and evolve under this excellent bassline. The track is carefree and fun that makes for an enjoyable time. On Side two, 'Strike' is more up-tempo jam that we cannot get enough of while 'Lush Void' might be our favorite of the bunch. This spacey romp into the cosmos is not only beautiful but it feels in constant motion like you are on a magic carpet ride. This EP has something for everyone!

Lasting Memories (original mix)
Lasting Memories (Snake Sedrick dub)
Lasting Memories (Dedicate To MB mix)
Review: The original mix starts off very melodic and soothing, but then it takes your off to another planet. Quality production work was spent on every split second of detail. The bass drive is one which will not let you go. The vocal opens your soul and this is why this is a global sounds at its best. Then there is the Snake Sedrick dub and that also starts off very melodic but more aggressive. The Dedicate To MB mix has an Ibiza type of feel. It's very touching, and has lots of emotion. You can easily imagine yourself sitting at a beach, having some wine and reflecting on life while this version takes your breath away with something most tracks don't have today. This release is about real music and feeling. Cassino & Laben are both from Italy. Their ways met in 1999, while they were working as DJ and PR in the same club. Right from the beginning, their friendship, the same way of thinking, the same feelings about music turned into a real passion. The mutual understanding between the two turned out to be highly positive and driven by an uncontrollable will to do something tangible, they began their plan called Cassino & Laben in 2001. They collaborated with the Flash Brothers, Lemon8, MAS Collective and on this release they join hands with vocalist Marina Puglisi.

Luke Chable vs Shiloh - "Sentrino"
Shiloh - "Face" (Furry Nipples remix)
Review: Brothers Colin and Justin Moreh are the 2 peas that form the Shiloh pod. Shiloh signed to Electrofly (Baroque Records breakbeat sister label) in 2003 and their debut single "Will U Ever Come Around" blew up instantly receiving massive support the received from the likes of Sasha, Tayo, James Zabiela & Adam Freeland. This lead to them being requested by Annie Nightingale to compile a mix for her show BBC Radio One. Their records have topped hype charts and record shop sales charts the world over since Shiloh's full length album is the result of 18 months hard work, and features a plethora of original recordings on CD1, alongside some exclusive remixes & collaborations on CD2 which sees the guys teaming up with the likes of Luke Chable, Ozgur Can (Furry Nipples) & David West. Shiloh's huge mark on the industry in such a short period time has been cut deep! The album has already enjoyed massive support from the worlds DJ elite, and tracks taken from this album have been licensed to recent compilations from Paul van Dyk's (Politics Of Dancing 2) Dave Seaman (Renaissance) Luke Chable (Addicted) and has also just been license to Sony's new Playstation Game "Eye Toy" game. The album is currently "Album Of The Issue" in DJ Magazine (issue 415 ), and received glowing reviews in all other UK press... 5/5 EQ mag, 8/M8 M8 Magaizne. This first 12" sampler features to massive collaborations from the album. First up is their monster battle with prog god Luke Chable with big pulse chords that have had the likes of Sasha, Digweed & Van Dyk All over it. On the flip they give us their dirty electro workout "Face" in the form of the Furry Nipples remix (aka Ozgur Can & Stian Klo) & it is clearly a massive electronic anthem here. "Canadian proggy/breaks duo Shiloh's debut album "Bleed" is well worth checking out and here the duo give a flavour of a couple of tracks on the album with a collaboration with Luke Chable" - IDJ Magazine.

Purple Fruit (Spirit Catcher Jammin' mix)
Review: The 7th release on Twisted Frequency comes from London-based minicab driver Anil Chawla, who delivers a killer piece of twisting tech-house. This is just a tiny bit darker and more mysterious than Anil's past productions on Saved, Berwick Street & Duty Free, but still has that warmth and quality. When this came on the TF speakers, it was an instant winner and we just had to get it on the roster! On the flip we have Belgian disco-funk gurus Spirit Catcher who have turned in a belter of a track in the form of their Jammin' mix, which provides a funkier take on the track whilst maintaining the killer, slightly acidic bass stab from Anils original. The Jammin' mix is a more musical journey than the original so there is something here to cover the funkier and darker side of tech house.

Review: Impressively wide and etheric new minimal / prog tech house from Italy's Toto Chiavetta, who returns to Mind Against's HABITAT sub-imprint with 'My Eyes Are Falling'. Rarely do we hear progressive house artists indulging such futuristic sound-palettes, if not for the fact that such sonic and textural detail often naturally spurs artists into more abstracted explorations away from dance music. But Chiavetta reins this impulse in, and keeps firmly rooted in the dance world by way of mega-surrounded breath-voices (courtesy of singer Trenton) and stratospherically catchy synth evaporations. Everything here, too, from the unpredictable, grid-flouting synthwork of 'The Sacred Space' to the ensuing remixes of the title track, sounds just as exo-worldly as the occult lifeform portrayed on the front cover.

Metaphoorical Nihlusiions (5:33)

No Way (5:54)
Review: The new four-tracker from Chicaiza through Kimchi Records is decidedly impressive, finding reams of emotive expression in a knowing, but well-wrought gaudy-trance rawness. We clock we're in for a trippy one from the off; 'Frgil Bodies' hears an opening vocal natter with the intonation of a leprechaun under the influence of some lab-bought compound; and not long before the crudest of crude yet rudest of rude drum flows ensues. Then 'Metaphorical Nihlusiions' follows with a continually janky, but frankly wicked still, tunnel-toss through noetic synth flicks and gurglingly good bass groundings, throwing shade on false nihilations in the process. The understory opens up considerably with 'Shinobi', with trophic psychic layers and bushwalking sproutings-forth, culminating in a canopied trance lead atop. Finally, 'No Way' flushes an excess of chitinous, skin-shedded beats and leftover bass nacres, depositing them on the forest floor like lap-up fruits ripe for the taking.

Descent (Nicolas Bacher remix)
Review: For this summer Felipe and Nicolas Bacher's very own Supreme Entertainment is definitely one of the imprints you should have on your musical agenda. Vienna's enfants terribles keep the faith to their credo of presenting fresh sounds of innovative artists from all over the world. One of those guys is Ireland's Chymera. After putting his hands on the remix for the last Titanium 011 he's now giving his long awaited debut on Supreme Entertainment. He seems to be a sort of sound chameleon, always ready to have a surprise in store. But there is one constant in his work: every tune is rocking like hell! Consequently it's more than understandable that Josh Wink signed Chymera to his label Ovum after hearing this release!
'Descent' is a true monster tune! An impressive deep and catchy melody, a drum setup full of pressure and of course a great production work are the ingredients for Chymera's awesome tune. This one is not only devastating the floors, it's staying in the dancers' minds for hours! 'So Now It Ends' is what the dark coloured voice announces in the beginning. But there's no need to fall into depression, because "There's a light in the end of the tunnel". This key message is only the starting shot for an exciting and incredibly varied production with charismatic spoken words, perfectly timed breaks and that Chymera trademark sub bass we all love him for!

Persefone's Whisper (6:35)
Review: Some would deny that sound could be at all malevolent, or carry an innately evil intent. Greek techno producer Cirkel Square may think differently; his latest red-label EP for Ukrainian imprint Jerelo makes the argument quite clear that since sound does not exist without an ear to receive it, and a subject to perceive it, all sound is thus subjective. Its emotional contents are as contingent on the presence of a human mind as is the capacity to hear the sound itself: if we hear a sound, we cannot avoid ascribing it an intention. Cirkel Square, meanwhile, refrains from bad philosophy of this kind and draws on Ancient Greek mythology to inform his tutelary four track EP, each of which is named after the Greek gods of time, hell, war and hell again. The Greeks believed in four "sinister harmonies", and Cirkel Square has finely tuned each track to conform to each of said grave frequencies, to harrowingly electric effect. It's not all doom and gloom, though: make it to the end for the calmest balm in sound there is here, 'Persefone's Whisper'.

Review: Slinky nighttime acid tech from Cirkel Square, laying down his debut 'Outside The Dome' EP for Subwax. Despite the title's focus on the hemispherical exterior, this is actually a two-track study on both the inside and outside of said dome. We begin life inside the hydroponic homestead, with surreptitious trance-acid and dimly lit pads suggestive of a secret plot to escape. The B-side's 'Outer Limits' responds with a more excitable jaunt, though by no means has our escape plan been scuppered by the authorities, with the mood continually driving, techy and methodical. Two remixes from Len Lewis and Magnus Asberg only add to the edge-of-your-seat excitement.

CK - "Lock" (6:26)
Ben Boe - "Neighbourhood Quasar" (CK remix) (6:06)
Review: C.K. is a Danish producer best known for his work in 2 Bit Crew and Regelbau, but he's more recently been focusing on his Private Recording System label, which strides into its ninth release with a little outside input from Ben Boe. C.K. himself leads on the A-side with 'Lock', a solid house-geared workout with plenty of immersive melodic threads tipping the vibe towards the proggy end of things. Meanwhile on the flip Boe's 'Neighbourhood Quasar' gets the remix treatment from C.K., who flips it into a bouncy, 909-powered jam for dancefloor dreamers the world over.

Scale (Kontra remix)
Scale (original mix)
Review: Clubbervision with the latest offering from the Pangea imprint. "Scale" is a chunky helping of progressive house, with moody synth sweeps, delayed female vocal snippets, crisp peaktime beats, and a steady house bassline all contributing. Blue Haze goes for a more percussive take, with drums and sweeping filters to the fore, while Kontra try a slightly deeper approach while keeping it uptempo enough for the main room crowds.

Review: The project Clubworxx is lead by German DJ artist Michael Bracher and is produced by Jerry Ropero, who rocks the clubs world-wide with several big tracks and remixes. Michael Bracher’s career started over 20 years ago and he successfully entered the international DJ business. He and Jerry Ropero are working together for several years and now they are glad to present their release called 'Tanga Strings' on a label of their hometown Hamburg, Kingdom Kome Cuts. Their first two singles "Keep On Swinging" and "Singing In My Mind" hit the houseclubs worldwide. Together with their friend Ollie Goedicke of KKC they are undefeatable.

Commerce Above All Else
Foundation (Fade Out)
Poptones
Review: As you might expect from the Frozen Border camp, there's nothing but proper, no-nonsense techno to be found on this EP from Joe Cocherell, who appeared once before in his entire career on Frozen Border 08. The first track works around a dry arrangement of finely balanced percussion, planting itself firmly in the DJ tool camp with its unflinching precision. "Foundation (Fade Out)" is a little more dramatic with its central melodic hook rising and falling in intensity, but it's "Poptones" that should have people freaking out with its beautifully resonating chimes playing out in a circular fashion.

Back 2 Deeper (Samio's Drummed Up dub)
Review: With a succession of releases and compilations for Yoshitoshi, collaborations with the likes of Hernan Cattaneo ("Behind The Music") and remixes of Narcotic Thrust, Roger Sanchez and Lil Louie Vega under his belt, Dean Coleman has established himself at the forefront of the US house and progressive scene. "Bak 2 Deeper" is probably his best work to date. Deep, dark and clubby, this little monster will hook you with its infectious vocal and gorgeous piano riff. Early support from Deep Dish, Sasha, Anthony Pappa, Way Out West, Chris Cargo, Hernan Cattaneo, Steve Lawler & more. Yoshitoshi favourite Samio provides a twisted remix. This one is gonna be huge!

Review: Written & composed by Javi Colors & Javi Pardo, 'Mediterranean Soul' is the new production of Javi Colors in association with Cannus. Nobody can explain better the Balearic feeling then Javi. His past productions like 'Back About Love', 'Nanga' 'Sleepwalker' and 'Alessa' are just a small example. This release also includes a remix from the outstanding DJ/producer D-Formation (Beat Freak).

Review: 'Oxygen Levels Low' is the new EP from Colyn, and it's a strict lesson in sci-fi progressive house and trance, being the next to hit the experts of releasing in that style, Afterlife. Neo-electroclash abounds on the emotive 4x4 banger 'Wait For You', while robotic-heavenly broken beat slowly emerges on the strangely cinematic cuts 'K1427' and 'Lightyears'. A glossy, technical and grandiose new EP.
