Review: Formed of vocalist Julian Casablancas, Jeramy "Beardo" Gritter (guitar), Amir Yaghmai (guitar), Jacob "Jake" Bercovici (bass, synthesizers), Alex Carapetis (drums), and Jeff Kite (keyboards), The Voidz may not be the most recognised rock band of the past decade, but in the right circles they've made nothing if not a huge impact. Not least with their startling debut, Tyranny, which hit 50 in the Top 50 Albums of 2014 list compiled by NME. Like All Us Before You is the latest addition to the oeuvre, their difficult third and a remarkable blend of styles. Spanning Neo-psyche, new wave, electronica, and garage rock, but firmly rooted in a fierce form of experimentalism, it's one of those records that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and doesn't let go until you submit to its otherworldly powers.
