Review: The Smile's latest remix compendium is a striking one, with two eminent producers reimagining tracks from the British rock band/Radiohead offshoot's latest and third album, CUTOUTS. This remix-set takes the core of the band's genre-blend sound, from art rock to experimental electronica, and contorts it into yet another division of volatile allotropes, this time welcoming light show IDM extravaganzist James Holden and East Kent musician Robert Stillman. Both versions are full displays of productive talent, humanisti, but still cognitively vector-mapped out in digi-space ahead of time, mirroring the abstracted, rather listless and amoral lyrics heard in the title track ("And your force means nothing...")

Review: Sacred Mushroom's debut is a blues-rock gem that shows the raw energy and talent of the Cincinnati-based quintet, led by Larry Goshorn and his brother Danny Goshorn. While their name might hint at psychedelia, the album leans heavily into blues traditions, paired with tight arrangements and flashes of rock ingenuity. Originals like 'Catatonic Lover', have an infectious energy and intricate chord progressions reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane, while 'All Good Things Must End' delivers a soulful Chicago blues waltz enhanced by Rusty Work's spirited harmonica. The funky opener, 'I Don't Like You', brims with dynamic harmonies and sharp guitar work that sets the tone for the album. Review: Deep Valley is a new collaborative work by Australian artists Seaworthy aka Cameron Webb and Matt Rosner and they came together for it during a week-long residency at Bundanon Art Museum in New South Wales. The property which was gifted to the Australian public by artists Arthur and Yvonne Boyd in the 1990s offers a unique landscape along the Shoalhaven River and is surrounded by sandstone cliffs and diverse wildlife. Drawing inspiration from Boyd's belief that "you can't own a landscape," Deep Valley combines the inspiration of that setting with environmental recordings, guitars, piano, and electronic processing all of which aim to highlight the transient nature of ecosystems and encourage you to reconnect with the sounds of nature.

Review: Bridging the gap between guitar-driven rock and ambient techno - they would later become the first artist to bring guitars to Warp Records - Seefeel skillfully blended electronic loops with post-psychedelic basslines, mermaid-like vocals from Sarah Peacock and intelligent percussion. Their debut album for Too Pure in 1993 was both ahead of its time and timeless, offering a quiet revolution of repetition and downtempo somnolent soundscape, a record that remains beautifully undated. Tracks like 'Imperial'. 'Industrious' and 'Charlotte's Mouth' demonstrate Seefeel's knack for using guitars as electronic complements, layering hypnotic smears of feedback with Peacock's intimate whispers. The eight-minute opener, 'Climatic Phase No. 3', floats with barely-there percussion and a lazy, dreamy melody, while 'Filter Dub' delivers a sublime, drowsy bass line perfect for slipping into sleep. The album's structure leans into drone and quirky ambience, creating an experience more akin to a dream state than a traditional rock record. Quique feels proto-IDM, a precursor to the ambient-motorik noise-pop aesthetic that artists like Tim Hecker and Mouse on Mars would explore. Seefeel's early work remains a blueprint for electronic experimentation, demonstrating that the band's forward-thinking approach helped define a genre that continues to defy easy categorisation. Quique is not just a product of the 90s - it's a sonic vision that still feels fresh and boundary-pushing today.

Review: Beggars Arkive assume starting marks, as they gear up to release a reduxed edition of Seefeel's Quique, a remastered and the first-ever vinyl pressing of the expanded 1993 LP by said model musos of ambient shoegaze. Originally released on Too Pure, Quique was a frissonic fusion of shoegaze, ambient and dubby electronica, which, by their light touch, gave rise to a sensitively otherworldly sound, betraying a mastery in the margins. Mark Clifford's intricate production, paired with Sarah Peacock's steam-on-the-windowpane vocals, produce pulsations and textures like no other, as heard on 'Climactic Phase #3' and 'Industrious'. The Redux Edition expands the original album from nine to 18 tracks, making this the original record's doppler; Seefeel's reflection in the mirror waving back at them through time.

Review: Ignore the typically self-depreciating title - when the 'same old bollocks' in question happens to be a set of songs that changed the world irrevocably, they can have all the reissues they want. Capturing the notorious London punk monarchs on their first foreign live outing, to Paris in September 1976, this double album presents pretty much the whole of their only studio album Never Mind The Bollocks thrashed out in adrenalin-fuelled fashion, with the addition of three other lesser spotted tracks. This trio, namely a suitably snarling cover of the Monkees' 'Stepping Stone', plus originals 'Did You No Wrong' and 'Satellite', are worth the admission price alone, with the latter's delightfully nihilistic polemic ("Lookin' like a dirty lavatory/There ain't no bid for your chastity") proving unmissable. Review: Infamous, ill-fated and iconic all in equal measure, the Sex Pistols US tour of January 1978 has gone down in the annals of punk history as a chaotic state of affairs. Mismanaged by their team, stuck on a label only interested in their prowess for generating headlines and performing night after night to crowds more curious than engaged, the resulting jaunt would eventually lead to the band's total implosion. After years of these live recordings being distributed in piece-meal form, the recordings from this tour have finally been accurately sourced, re-sequenced and now delivered as individual live LPs with this pressing coming from their show at the Longhorns Ballroom in Dallas, Texas. The sheer exhaustion, frustration and oncoming burnout are evident through these feral performances, almost as if hearing the once youthful pioneers imploding in real time. Currently undertaking a costly world tour accompanied by former Gallows vocalist, Mr. Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes himself standing in for the now MAGA touting John Lydon, it's the closest fans will likely ever get to experiencing the Never Mind The Bollocks era, with these authentic real thing recordings coming in at a close second, delivered from the familiar comfort of your turntable.

Review: SFJ, formerly Sunglasses For Jaws, introduces 'Drifting', a nine-tracker tracing one duo's evolution from humble beginnings in a friend's shed to a fully realised studio in East London. The London duo blend lounge, experimental and groovy 70s influences with a modern edge. The offbeat 'Computer Spiritus' brings a quaint curiosity about it, while 'Chasing' prefers a fader-happy vignette in funky, action-sequent frequencies. Only the latter half of the record provides any longer extension, 'Bad' being the baddest of them all.

Review: A krautrock/punk funk/no wave/post disco hit-fest from the prolific American-born/London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Shawn Lee. Lee, who was the drummer in the now disbanded Welsh band Carwyn Ellis & Rio 18, has made an album that's a left-field indulgence for sonic wanderers. There's a strong Neu! or Can feel to the opening and closing tracks - the bookends, if you will - so these songs are a homage to late 60s and 70s experimental music, but as invigorating as the golden generation's attempts. Elsewhere, 'Lost In London' has more of a new wave feeling; it's like a more hypnotic Gang of Four. And 'Lost In Tokyo' is a really smooth number, so the perfect soundtrack to when you feel like you can take on the world.
