This module takes two external sources (patched) from an external other module. It wants a triangle waveform and a square waveform.

The internal analogue circuitry will make you a variety of wave forms, selectable by knob. You can also blend the output with a slicer and a sub harmonic generator on the second channel.

This moduleis a considerable upgrade from a typical VCO. The wave shapes found on this product is the result of using going 15+ years' worth of analogue circuits.

You get two channels of waveform banks. Each can output something separate and different.

There is CV control for the Waveform selection banks, Sub harmonic selection bank, and Pulse Wave Modulation on channel 2.

Does this module require another module?

Yes, you need an oscillator VCO module. Best compatibility is a VCO with triangle wave and square wave.

Notes: What does this module do?

This is a sound generator, specifically, a metallic shimmer generator. This module contains all the onboard processing needed to complete a percussive voice. There is a manual XOR shimmer generator, and a static cowbell like generator. You can also turn those two off, and just use the internal white noise (sizzle).

There is an onboard High Pass Filter with two resonant peaks. One is controlled by knob, the other is selected by toggle switch. Labelled Q1 and Q2. An Auxilary input has been added so that you can process sound through the high pass filter.

There is also a Sweep Knob which internally patches the decay to the high pass filter.

A white noise generator is used to blend in with the shimmer generator. Labelled SIZZLE.

There are two triggers. One is for 'Open' sound. The other is for 'close' sound. Both open and close and have their own decay knob to adjust the length of the audio tail.

Instead of adding an 'accent' control. Both triggers have been made to be voltage variable. 5V triggering is the normal expected input. So a 3V trigger will sound softer in volume. 10V trigger signals will sound louder.

Offset Magic
Along with reproducing the SDE-3000's famous mono sound, the SDE-3 includes a powerful Offset feature to create interesting tones with two simultaneous delays. With one simple control, you can instantly add a second delay to the primary delay for a wealth of mono and stereo colours.

Doubled Delays-Turning the Offset knob up to its centre position introduces a second delay that's 1-100ms longer than the primary delay. For example, if the primary delay is 400ms and the Offset is 10ms, the second delay's time is 410ms. Coupled with the SDE-3's time, feedback, and highly adjustable modulation controls, you can craft deep delay tones unavailable with typical delay pedals.

Timed Dual Delays-In the second half of its range, the Offset knob produces a shorter second delay that's based on the primary delay time. Use the pedal's tap tempo function to determine the quarter-note value for the primary delay. Next, turn the knob to sweep the second delay's time between eighth-note and dotted-eighth subdivisions. This lets you introduce a variety of rhythmic effects that sync with your music.

Multiple Output Modes
The versatile SDE-3 provides output configurations for any stage or studio scenario. Run it in mono for basic setups. Play in true stereo with discrete left/right delays or a panning mode for ultra-wide sounds that move across the stereo field. Send dry and direct feeds to two amps for wet/dry setups. Or mute the direct sound entirely for studio mixing and parallel effect rigs.

Modern Workflow
The SDE-3 offers numerous control options to enhance your performances. Press and hold the pedal switch to enable the tap tempo function. Or use the TRS MIDI input to receive clock sync signals from DAWs, pedals, and drum machines. Connect external footswitches for on-demand access to tap tempo and a hold function for on-the-fly looping. Alternately, an expression pedal can be used to control the Level, Feedback, and Time knobs for delay mix adjustment, wild pitch effects, and dramatic self-oscillation.

Notes: Module A-121d is a special dual multimode filter which can be used for parallel or serial organized dual mono filters. Even stereo applications are imaginable. The filters are based on two special circuits: one with highpass and bandpass outputs, the other with lowpass and bandpass outputs. It's a new filter design that is not used so far in any other A-100 filter module.

We attached great importance to the usability of the manual controls and CV inputs for dual filter applications: for the filter frequencies of both filters a common control (Frequ.) and a difference control (Delta, filter spread) are available. For both parameters even CV inputs are available (FCV, DCV). The resonance (Q1, Q2), the sensitivity of the individual frequency control input (FCV1, FCV2) and the level of the audio input (In1, In2) are adjusted by means of the individual controls for each filter.

The module has a simple audio mixing unit available with the inputs Mx1 and Mx2, and the output MxO. Provided that the mixer inputs are open bandpass 1 and bandpass 2 are normalised to the sockets Mx1 and Mx2. All other filter types are realized by connecting the other filter outputs (H1 = highpass 1, L2 = lowpass 2) to the mixer inputs.

The Fluid Audio Coaxial speaker design is notably different from traditional coaxial designs. Coaxial studio monitors in the 50's and 60's placed the high frequency driver behind the woofer, porting the high frequency through the woofer's voice coil opening. This design effectively used the woofer's cone as the wave guide, or horn. Since the woofer's cone is constantly moving (sometimes dramatically as it plays bass frequencies), there is a significant amount of Intermodulation distortion and audible smearing that happens as the high frequency radiates off the woofer's cone.

The coaxial design of the Fluid Audio FX series places the high frequency device in front of the woofer, secured to a fixed post. The tweeter is mounted in a hard plastic wave guide that allows the high frequencies to flow uninterrupted, so there is no audio smearing from the woofer's movements. By using the on-board DSP, 48 and 36db per octave Linkwitz-Riley slopes not only perfectly blend the low and high frequencies, but are also used to filter out acoustic anomalies inherent in coax designs (as the tweeter does not have a full size baffle to radiate from.) Front-loaded slot port design
The bass-reflex slot port tunes the cabinet to maximize the bass output efficiency of the speaker. It is placed on the front panel not only to directly radiate the bass energy towards the listener, but also for flexibility of placement in your studio.

Updated Tweeter Grille protection
The FX coax design, with the tweeter suspended in the middle of the woofer, is very robust. As such, it provides outstanding protection for the woofer itself. However, the tweeter needs protection as well, this is why we added a small, steel perforated grille to protect the delicate silk diaphragm of the tweeter.
