Review: The crew behind that monumental Ilo edit which you will have heard if you stepped in a club any time over the past year come through with a new label called Lo Fi Edits, with this debut offering brandishing five super spacey disco edits for the price of a ten bag. During the trip expect to be plucked from reality with the same tight guitar string picks of Kikroko's "Man This Is My Girl", look forward to some serious robotic struts on the Italo classic "Takin' It Straight", prepare for a savvy string massage on "Space Sentry", anticipate a sloppy bass kiss upside your chops on "Boogieasy" and be sure to receive the loopy, filtered funk finale that is the "Makin Love To The Music" sucker punch. Wow.

Review: Eagles & Butterflies has had plenty of notable tunes over the years. No doubt that is why he gets the nod from Gerd Jansen's legendary Running back label to offer up Retropolis Vol 01. It is a four-track EP that shows off the producer's well-realised sounds. The title track is the real standout - 'Retropolis' brings electro-styled synth work with brilliantly future retro euro-disco energy. It's packed with hints of Italo and is sure to light up any club scene. Says the producer of the EP, "Retropolis is the past meets the future. I love influences and technology from the past and making music that sounds like it could be from a time yet to arrive." Mission accomplished.

Review: Since launching in 2014, Disco Segreatha has done a great job in unearthing and reissuing Italian disco gems from the late70s and early 80s. Their latest offering takes us back to 1978 and the sole solo release from Lele Patha, the exceedingly hard-to-find 'Stripiz'. Typical of Italian disco of the period, it's a quirky and pleasingly off-kilter affair, where an, organic disco groove is laden with fuzzy synth sounds, breathy male vocal snippets, swirling electronic chords, mazy organ solos and Candido style hand percussion. The release is also notable for a surprise B-side remix, courtesy of Marcello Giordani, which brilliantly re-imagines the cut as a throbbing, drum machine-driven slab of early 80s Italo-disco excellence.

Review: Rome's Andy Romano is welcomed into the Bordello family with his long-awaited debut release, 'Monday'. The tracks it consists of were shelved for more than ten years, said to have floated between a handful of DJs after its first confidant, Andrea Confrancesco, chose a different path in his creative career by becoming a professional illustrator. An excellent example of naive, nigh-lo-fi new beat, but no less punchy and galactic, 'Monday', 'Loredane' and 'Cyber Black Spaceship' are a veritable trident of watery, retrofuturistic, catchy wonderment.

Review: Ultra-watery, ultra-space-age, ultra-vocoded and ultra-limited-edition new Italo disco wax from the folks over at Archeo Recordings. Engineered and executed in the style of an oldskool space disco cut - one which bears the same cover-artistic hallmarks - it's also a crossover electro/Italo release. Produced by Manu Archeo and remixed by Pellegrino in full progressive house stylee on the flip, this is a beautiful replication of the electro-disco essence.
