Review: Atmospheric Existence Recordings keep up their annual release rate with label boss Miles Sagnia inviting 1Dan and Bittersuite to join him on only the third release. Newcomer 1Dan opens proceedings with the sprawling soft machine funk flex of "Foundations", a track driven by gutter deep bass movements, steppy syncopation and rich sonic textures that no doubt helped influence the title of the EP. On the flip Bittersuite step forward with the upwards acid dub pressure of "Squeeze In" which steadily accrues an acidic overtone before a delightful left turn into a futuristic mechano soul rhythmic thrust. It's left to Sagnia to provide the final moment with the tightly relentless throb of "Can We Heal Them" that slowly reveals its inner acid brilliance.

Bubbling and acid toned squiggles dance upon staccato hi-hats and choral melodies in the upbeat and sweat sounding house cut "Serenade". Analogue warmth is ever present throughout the "The Silence of Winter", as hypnotic leads and LFO infected synths influence serenely sung vocals and top end EQ twiddles. A collector's must have.

Review: A collaboration between Bristol's Shall Not Fade and London label/clothing line Handy here titled Keep It In The Family. SNF tapped 9th House & Berlin-based Italian Ruff Stuff for some wicked techno tracks, and it's all about the latter doing his best Aril Brikha impression on 'Still Dancing'. Representing Handy we have Bobby Cazanova serving up some bass-heavy sci-fi fantasies on the electro number 'Big Eden' and a collab between Arthur Dudley and Retromigration who serve up some smoky, late night deep house on 'Moodyknight'.

Review: After inaugurating the Bags Inc imprint a little while back, UK bass stalwart Addison Groove and Sam 'Binga' Simpson return with more of their down 'n' dirty exploits here. From the tough rolling jack of "D Question" with its ghetto house samples and hypnotic chords that call to mind Binga's work on 50 Weapons not long ago. More jacked vocals and classic sound of Roland drum machines are explored on the stripped back "Seven Of Nine" and the rather banging "Bashton Valed" gets back to the program in strong and funky hard groove style - with its acidic flourishes and emotive pads.

Review: Belgian DJ duo 2ManyDJs make their music under the Soulwax alias. Whenever they do, it is arresting, seriously quality stuff. For this one the multi-genre mash up artists look to remix 'Cliche' by Charlotte Adigery and Bolis Pupul for the French label Because Music. Their first version is a typically textured, raw, ravey indie-techno workout with rugged beats and sleazy vocals lit up by bright strobes. The EP features an all-3am regular artist cast, three making their debut on vinyl and one making a return to 12' after a 12 year gap. 3am boss Al Bradley opens the EP, while label regulars Carlo Gambino, Ben Dean and Michael Scott all return for the 12". With over 400 releases and remixes between the artists, the EP showcases in-house talent from the label - the emphasis on quality rather than names. Review: Here is the Annual NDATL special edition release, featuring label head honcho Kai Alce. The explorations begins with the smooth and smoky late night deepness of "Thrown Away" ,with its truthful spoken word dialogue. This is followed by an addition by Trackmode boss Brett Dancer on the same side - he provides some proper Midwest vibes on the soulful/bittersweet bounce of "Art". On the flip, it's all about Toronto legend Nick Holder, who has made a welcome return to production here: he serves up the lo-slung groove of "Disco 79'" harking back to his early days of disco loops (think back to his classic One Night In The Disco from back in '96), through to the super slick and emotive "A Black Man In America".

Review: Banfield Audio's fledgling Monochromatic label return following a sterling debut emission from Specter and the label bosses themselves, turning to another under rated US producer in the shape of Amir Alexander. Despite his heritage, Alexander is only now really getting the wider exposure his explosive production capacity deserves and the Chicagoan's contribution here is an incendiary example of just what he's capable of. "Scuzzelbutt!" is Chicago acid house in a similar frame of mind to Larry Heard's prized Gherkin Jerks output, though the TR-led rhythms are precision tooled and crisp to a tee. Banfield Audio maintain their 100% appearance record with a slightly more sedate B Side saunter through classic Detroit deep house that accrues all manner of melodic charm as it progresses.

Review: Global Essence Sampler is a new series from Deep Inspiration Show Records that calls upon a fine roster of international producer talent to serve up one track each and reflect on what deep house is today. For Allstarr Motomusic the answer is smooth and cruising house grooves with elastic basslines and distant vocal wails. Barce explores classic Larry Heard-style cosmic melodic territory with plenty of star-gazing potential, and Zarenzeit's 'Zahara' is another one that floats amongst the stars with lush ambient pads. Jank offers a more dusty, rhythmic house sound for cosy backroom parties, and then come the jazzy melodies and soulful bass noodling of Jan Kincl's '3300 Gratiot Ave.' Magic stuff.

Review: Crosstown Revels does a fine job of serving up accessible electronic music that is always built with a leftfield perspective. It is Amberoom featuring Blakkat & BabyGirl who take care of this new single, a vocal house delight that will likely form the centrepiece of plenty of epic tech house sets this summer. The airy vocal is spine tingling and heavenly, the drums deep and the bass warm and rooted to the floor. Lucas Frota & Blakkat remix into a more tribal and percussive style then Radio Slave offers a couple of post rave, old school breakbeat laced versions with dreamy pads that could take you up or bring you back down depending on the setting.

Review: The Cursory EP is the second collaboration between Italians in Berlin The Analogue Cops and UK bass producer Blawan. It's the debut release on a new label run by another Italian duo, Raw People, but what is more notable is that the release maps out new possibilities for that grey area where house, techno and bass meet. "Aurum", with its loose, organic drums, could be easily mistaken for a Workshop release were it not for the wired vocal sample and interplay between the spacey, ambient chords and the arrangement's cheese-wire percussive licks. "Illy" is straighter and more representative of the Analogue Cops' approach, with its filtered groove and insistent stabs underscored by firing percussion, but it sounds functional when played next to "Quarto". The standout cut on the EP is based on a driving but more offbeat rhythm, while viscous acid lines cosy up to crashing cymbals, creating a woozy, edgy feeling. Put simply, "Quatro" is the kind of track that captures lost moments from late nights without making the listener feel uncomfortable. Finally, "Sickle" sees the trio return to dance floor techno, but with a difference. Blawan's input ensures that the rolling rhythm is fluid and less regimented, while the rasping percussion that tracks the building chord is rougher than a Ryanair red-eye out of Berlin on a Monday morning.

Review: DJ Kawasaki fires up his tools and gets to work on a couple of tasty new edits here. The first is a slow disco mix of The Ananda Project's 'Cascades Of Colour' which is lush, low riding and built on loopy drums with silky synths that are finished with some sprinkles of cosmic melody up top. Sublime. Blaze's 'We Are One' then gets a special Fusion Funk Re-Groove mix which has more astral synth work ringing out from a tight and funk arrangement with lush bass lines and nice organic drums.

Review: Tresydos has been doing a great job of shaping out a niche within the minimal-tech-house-trance scene, with the recent spate of vinyl releases solidly firming up the label's vibe. That vibe is crystallised perfectly on the first part of their Number 10 series, where Anderson opens proceedings up with the dreamy but playful trip of 'Synchronize Our Moves' before Velvet Velour takes things into cheeky mid 00s territory with the wriggling samples and catchy synth hooks of 'Yesyesyes'. Babu switches things up with a nudge towards Italo which brings a refreshing twist to the record before Penelope finishes the record off with a quintessential slice of crafty modern era-minimal.

Review: "Classics" releases work best when the material being showcased is either obscure, hard to find or overlooked. Much of the material on this third trawl back through the vaults of Mike Grant's Moods & Grooves imprint ticks all these boxes. For example, Andres' "Just A Player" - a refreshingly loose and bumping fusion of warm disco samples, snappy beats and a killer bassline - has never previously appeared on wax. Then there's the soul-flecked, jazz-house/broken beat hybrid "Fashion Avenue (Remix)" by John Tejada and Leviste, which sounds remarkably fresh despite being 14 years old. As for Brad Peterson's strutting, acid bass-propelled "Trickchords", we're struggling to find any reference to it having been released before. Whether it has or not, it's as essential as the rest of this superb EP.

Review: Get your claves out for the lads... This white hot Detroit label launched earlier this year with this very inaugural volume, back again and reissued by popular demand. All flexing around 116 mark, there's a loose sense of funk coded throughout as we're treated to a range of groove treats. Highlights include the detuned synth hypnosis of Berndt's "Pitchblack", the percussive allure and sub charm of Appian's "For Warm Weather" and the rippling dubbed synths of Segv's "Uhxhxh". A very welcome reissue.

Review: Arriving back in the spring of 2010, the first edition of Halal Prepared from London label Boe Recordings featured Iron Curtis, KiNK and Ladzinski and has remained a 12" the more considered selectors at Juno HQ keep in their record boxes. Primed by Boe as the onset of a new V/A series, it's taken the label three years to decide on what artists to feature on this second volume, with a great online mix series of the same name available for those craving some Halal flavoured house. Smallville graduate Arnaldo calls shotgun here with the playfully named A side hogger "A Shop That Sells Everything But At Twice The Price" filled with the sort of texturally deepness that made his Blank Slate record from earlier this year such a popular 12". Label boss Ben Boe deems the time right to surface with his first original production and "Low Rider" fits snugly in with the refined house aesthetic the under-rated Boe Recordings has developed over the course of it's five years of releases. French producer Anaxander rounds out Vol 2. In fine style with the deep and dubby "Dance Et Cetera" showcasing his percussive chops. Bless up Boe!
