Claro Intelecto - "Signifier" (6:19)
Lowtec - "Dat America" (6:48)
Review: Styrax's alphabetized Specials series reaches its fourth volume (or Styrax I / Styrax J to use the correct parlance) with four typically sumptuous examples of archival house. 154's delightfully fuzzy "Daze" opens proceedings, which will cause much misty eyed reminiscing for anyone who indulged in the 2004 Delsin released album Strike it first appeared on. Alongside it, Damon Lamar's luxuriously paced "Rising Sun" is borrowed from Tetrode Music, its intoxicating swirls of kaleidoscopic textures every bit as potent as when it first surfaced. The flipside tracks are naturally in a similar vein with some 2003 bounciness from Claro Intelecto complemented by "Dat America", Lowtec's 1999 jam for the Playhouse imprint.

Review: "Rubber Chunks" is Luke Vibert's latest emission under the Ace Of Clubs tag, a moniker he first used back in 2002 for the Paperplane imprint. This righteous four tracker keeps Vibert firmly rooted in the slowed-down acid territory that's marked out some of his best ever material. This First Cask release is dazzling.

Defunkt Dialekt - "Take Aim" (4:25)
Lectro Cod E - "Don't Want No Smoke" (5:18)
Review: The second volume of the Alien Transmissions series is another mighty fine various artists offering. It kicks off with some darker, acid-laced electro that has menacing bass and kicks so booming your eardrums will tickle. Hatch's 'Future Sounds Of A Laundrette' has all the loopy clatter you might expect of a tune with such a title and Defunkt Dialekt then layers up the most rustic sounds, prickly hits and squealing synths into something utterly arresting on 'Take Aim.' Last of all is the high-speed intergalactic electro workout that is Lectro Cod E's 'Don't Want No Smoke' with its crisp boom-bap and coruscated bass.

Review: Parisian label 39 Records presents its first vinyl release. 39REC01 introduces several upcoming European producers, presenting a four-track journey across house breakbeat and tech house from France to Romania. On the A side you've got some groovy minimal house courtesy of Admo on 'Roger T' which is perfect tackle for the warm-up or afterhours alike, followed by Mosleo who serves up some lo-slung acid breaks on 'Roots Secours'. Over on the flip, Llip takes you to a higher state of consciousness on the rolling main room tech house of 'Boards' and finally Sanpe has you sorted for proper mood music on his deeply emotive offering 'The Dip'

Adriatique - "Patterns Of Eternity" (Sebastian Mullaert remix) (13:34)
Stereocalypse - "Lace Star" (Siamese Soundsystem remix) (6:55)
Luca Ballerini - "Amore & Psiche II" (Eduardo De La Calle remix) (7:11)
Review: Two years have passed since Adriatique founded the Siamese label. Naturally, the Zurich duo has decided the time is right to get some fresh remixes of classic cuts from the imprint's rapidly expanding catalogue. Fittingly, the A-side is taken up by Sebastian Mullaert's fine rework of Adriatique's "Patterns of Eternity", which maintains a fine balance between early morning deep techno hypnotism and drifting late night melodiousness. The Siamese Soundsystem's rework of Stereocalypse's "Lace Star" is a much more rolling techno workout, rich in bubbly electronic motifs and ear-catching shaker percussion, while Eduardo De La Calle's version of Luca Ballerini's "Amore & Psiche II" is deep, low-slung and mesmerizing.

Zobol - "Data Wars" (5:01)
Review: Exit Planet Earth continues its exploration of the world of electro universe with an expansive, extended six track EP, featuring The Advent x Zein Ferreira, DeFeKT, London Modular Alliance, Konertymi and Zobol. The Advent, whose weekly Gardening Club residency in the mid-90s helped to drag electro out of the realms of the retro and back into the future, team up with Zein Ferreira for a Kraftwerk-on-speed extended mix of 'CarpeDiem', before London Modular Alliance's more moderately paced but still squiggle and bleep laced 'Lump of Coal' plus a 'beats' breakdown for the DJs. The B-side brings us the acid-powered 'Pulssi' by Konerytmi, the bouncy, breakdance-friendly 'Radar' by DeFeKT, and the relatively pure, optimistic sonics of Zobol's 'Data Wars'. Thumbs up all round.

Review: For its seventh release, southern Italians Obscura Music return to welcome exciting new talents and core label acts. Head honchos Agents Of Time venture down an electro route with "East Coast", as do the ever impressive London Modular Alliance on the hypnotic "Buck One". Man of the moment Aussie Jensen Interceptor channels classic Drexciyan aesthetics on "Manix" before homeboys and label staples Hiver come through with the slinky and hypnotic tech house of "Stasys" and Detroit veteran Kris Wadsworth makes a surprising appearance with some slow burning minimalism displayed on closer "Abroad".

Vinicius Honorio - "Diamond Dust" (7:18)
Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano - "Limitless" (6:46)
Review: More big guns for the main room (at peak time!) courtesy of tried and tested experts Drumcode - and they sure aren't messing around on part four of the sixth instalment of their A sides series. Tuscany's Luca Agnelli serves up the pummelling and furious DJ tool "Hypericum" while India's finest techno export Arjun Vagale continues to make waves with his dynamic sound and "Liquid" is no exception, as it electrifies your senses with rapid fire rhythms and mental synth sequences. On the flip, London's Vinicius Honorio serves up the tunneling and hypnotic journey that is "Diamond Dust" which has the potential to appeal to a wide cross section of techno DJs and their respective styles - loved the mesmerising Jeff Mills style chime melody on this one. Finally, two of the label's staples team up for what you could only expect as massive: Neapolitans Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano with the slinky late night tech house of "Limitless".

Review: Basel-based experimental labels Amenthia Recordings and A Walking Contradiction join forces for their first collaborative release here in the form of the Flash Crash/Hack Crash EP. Both labels are known for pushing boundaries within their close-knit creative circles and this one features Agonis' heavy stepper and Konduku's whirlpool of low frequencies on the Amenthia side, while Lemont continues the low-end, tripped-out vibe. Varuna represents A Walking Contradiction and delivers swampy, slow-motion sounds in their signature style. This release embodies both labels' commitment to daring, unconventional electronic sounds.

Review: Fresh off the back of Cryptographic's intense 'Echo' release comes this fitting V/A from the ever-intriguing Swiss experimental 170 label Re:st. Music to realign our Covid-ravaged chakras to 'Re:align' introduces three new names to the label; Alternate Current steams out of the gates with a dub techno juggernaut 'Borrowed Language' while Dreadmaul & Tobe:n whip a rhythmic stampede that's screaming to be unleashed on a big system with 'Homunculus'. Flip for two slightly more cosmic tales as label founder LCP gently pats us down with the trickling lolloping loops of 'Off Limits' before Books signs us out with the sparse and skippy 'Cosine'. Refine your alignments.

Luis Malon & Seb G - "Extasis Nebular" (5:45)
Jamie Leather - "Strange Commodities" (5:31)
Review: The Hyperdrive label is back with a third outing which once again offers up some exciting and forward-thinking new artists. Anderson's 'Sweet Psylow' kicks off with some psychedelic synth loops over crisp tech house drums that hark back to the 90s prog heyday. HearThuG's 'Back To The Future' is a darker sound with whistles, snappy snares and eerie chords and Luis Malon & Seb G then combine for the bouncing techno rhythms and acid-laced pads of 'Extasis Nebular.' Last but not least, Jamie Leather's 'Strange Commodities' is a surging cosmic techno trip with dynamic drums and perc and majestic leads. This is another fine release from this young label.

Abdul Raeva - "Celestial Body" (Venus mix) (6:38)
Review: Gestal is leading the way in the Estonian scene and now it rightly continues its anniversary celebrations with a third volume of vital VA cuts. Anderson opens proceedings with his 'Stalactites,' a nice leggy electro cut with a heavy drum and bass combo but plenty of astral details. Things get more kinetic and travel much further from the blue planet on the superbly slick and serene cut from Long Island Sound, while Baby Rolen gets down and dirty on twisted bass and slapping drum hits that make you jerk. There is a much more dreamy vibe to Abdul Raeva's 'Celestial Body' meaning things close on a perfect emotional note.

Review: Polarity keeps on the early pressure and quality it has shown over its first few releases with another searing EP that is aimed square at the floor. A quarter of different artists contribute to the '4 Intense Stories EP' and Giuseppe Angeloro opens up in bristling fashion with 'Sequenza Libera' a coarse acid workout. Cedric Dekowski's 'Roayal' has a more trippy take on techno with its unusual sci-fi energy and Luca Piermattei's 'Aerial Silk' has you in freefall as the synth sequences ride up and down the scale over mechanical beats. Thilo Dietrich shits down with a nice techno stomper with plenty of warped lines.

Anonym - "Go Deeper" (Kenny Larkin remix)
Soulmate - "Set Fire To My Feet" (Chez Damier Set Fire To My Feet mix)
Leonel Castillo - "Stone Peace" (Delano Smith remix)
Review: Sushitech finally unveil the second round of Tessera remixes and they've really gone to town here with contributions from Chicago and Detroit heavyweights. Kenny Larkin takes over the A Side with a superlative remix of Anonym, infusing "Go Deeper" with some vintage Motor City soul via deep organ flourishes and searing strings. This is more than matched by Chez Damier who adds some real bump to the drum programming of Soulmate's "Set Fire To My Feet", retaining the bassline throb but replacing the hopeful mood with something altogether sleazier. Finally Leonel Castillo's subaqueous exercise in filtered jazzy deepness is given a soaring once over from Delano Smith, who adds some weight to the groove and introduces delightful chords for good measure. Essential stuff!

All the bad boys are here, including Answer Code Request with his very singular brand of techno, The Corner man Anthony Parasole who has now become synonymous with the Berghain sound, Norman Nodge, Milton Bradley aka Alien Rain, and a few lesser known producers such as Lockertmatik and FBK. Lockermatik - "M_Lock 4"
Ryan James Ford - "Arthure Iccon"
Review: All hail Dettmann! Having included a veritable swathe of unreleased material from artists affiliated with his label on the excellent Fabric 77 earlier this year, Marcel Dettmann has done the right thing and issued the majority across two 12"s released this week. As is the case when granted the chance to own these cuts, it's interesting to see if they retain the power and intensity they conveyed when utilised by Dettmann within the context of the mix cd. In the case of "Transit" and "BB 1.0" from Answer Code Request and Norman Nodge respectively, that's a resounding yes! The latter's production is a particularly potent slab of lysergic sonic dementia that the more adventurous selectors will be playing for years to come. Dettman's A&R skills are on full display with cuts from Stefan 'Kryptic Universe' Schindler's new Lockermatik project and newcomer Ryan James Ford.
