Big Bad Wolf (3:07)
Big Bad Wolf (instrumental) (3:07)
Review: UK ensemble Abstract Orchestra is led by producer Rob Mitchell and has built its name through jazz-infused hip-hop tributes to legends like J Dilla and MADVILLAIN. Their latest cut, 'Big Bad Wolf,' features Detroit MC Guilty Simpson, whose booming baritone drives the track's cinematic narrative. Originally shelved and not put out, Mitchell revived the collaboration by rewriting the entire instrumental. The result is a two-part journey: from eerie, dreamlike strings to hard-hitting live drums, textured synths and reverb-heavy vocals. With lines like 'when a good guy becomes a villain' Simpson's in raw vengeance mode and jay lyrical grit meets with tight musicianship for modern hip-hop orchestration at its boldest.

Minimal House/Tech House
Decorated (7:06)
One In The Groin (8:05)
Skip (feat Delilah) (6:04)
080 Lounge (6:14)
Review: Chunky, cheeky minimal house and techno from Murmurations signee Leo Christopher, based between London and Leeds. Stretching his time between DJing, remixes and original productions - there's a very special Leviticus' 'Burial' remix floating about the ether-net somewhere - one can sense that Leo carefully plans his many productions for a wide variety of impromptu situations. 'Decorated' and 'One In The Groin' each bring humoured but ultimately deep shuffles to the dance, the latter track especially proving "garagey" enough to cater to any given proverbial Room 2. The B strips things back to dubbier territory, with the Delilah collab serving hollowed-out vocals, and '080 Lounge' depositing carefully placed bongo hits and chords across a clacking rollage.

Balearic/Downtempo
Le Reve
Le Reve (Lexx remix)
Review: Now six EPs deep into his catalogue, this artist continues to refine a signature Balearic sound that evokes sun-drenched beaches and late summer evenings. The standout track here is 'Le Reve', a lush and hypnotic piece that channels the spirit of Cafe del Mar's golden era. It opens with warm pads and a dreamy melodic flow that gently washes over the listener. The highlight, though, is the vocal performance from Liza Carrey. Her voice is breathy, sultry and haunting, weaving through the track with a gentle intensity that perfectly complements the mood. For the remix, Swiss producer Lexx steps in and subtly transforms the original into something even more relaxed. A laid-back Latin rhythm with soft percussive flourishes and beachside warmth, turning the track into a slow-burning coastal cruiser. It is a perfect blend of downtempo charm and balearic soul, maintaining the emotional tone of the original while adding a fresh rhythmic touch. A serene and seductive journey.

No Return (2:30)
Path Of Man (3:30)
Review:  Loveland, Ohio's Colemine label offer a 7" indie exclusive on this furtive freshener from house engineer and regularly featured artist Leroi Conroy, returning after his last 45 in 2017 with a sharp double-sider flaunting his rhythmatic flair and deeper verbal intuitions. 'No Return' outlays crisp boom-bap drums wrapped in fluttering flute lines from Michael Sarason (of Say She She) and shimmering harp hallelujahs, courtesy of Cincinnati handywoman Rachel Miller. There's a distinct nod to Dorothy Ashby's work here, but reimagined for a 2025 palette; the flip leads the way to the 'Path Of Man', stripping the bark back to murkier moods, pulling from the darker corners of Conroy's upcoming full-length. He's come a long way since vacationing from the cutting lathe, representing himself in a new soulful and cinematic light, one which is yet raw and unpolished where it counts.

Oil Dub
Cloud Suck
Review: London's DJ Ojo makes a strong debut on Pain Management with a shape-shifting 12" of heady, system-ready dub music. Known for his murky and slow-burning take on the form, Ojo takes things deeper here. 'Tongue Tied' rides out on pitch-black sub pressure and a ghosted vocal loop, evoking that half-asleep state between the dance and the walk home. 'Oil Dub' warps percussive elements into a cavern of melted delays and filtered hiss - almost ASMR in its abstraction. On the flip, 'Cloud Suck' stretches out into a near ten-minute reverie: digidub's emotional potential pushed to its outermost edge, sun-bleached, swirling and strangely hopeful. It's that rare kind of low-end music that plays just as well from a stack as it does through headphones, carrying a woozy emotional undertow that feels both bruised and comforting. A masterclass in restraint from one of London's most low-key original voices.

Andrey - "Mirage" (7:39)
Solus - "Steady" (7:07)
Preesh - "Sigansina" (8:03)
Venda - "Voice In Space" (7:46)
Review: History is made, and a flag is firmly staked in the ground, as Evaporate incepts as the first ever Taiwanese minimal house label. Based in the capital city of Taipei, we're shocked that this small but cultural vital island has never before embraced such an essential sound. We're unsurprised to learn, however, that the 2010s onwards drove the relative popularity of genres like trap, dubstep and future bass in the country; these were hyperactively impressive genres that we'd wager retroactively motivated the public to seek out classier styles later down the line, once the dust settled. Hence the beautiful careens of Andrey's 'Mirage' and the fluid nonstop ionisations of Preesh's 'Sigansina'. These guys know that, despite the name, minimal techno relies on a hidden, contradictory core of maximal, jittery restiveness.

Them Things (4:25)
A Madness (5:18)
Not Him Again (4:32)
Review: After a quiet return via Neroli, Domu comes full circle to 2000black with a final statement after 25 years of sonic highs, lows and plenty of reinvention. Haunted by the echoes of jungle's past, Domu steps away for good, he says, with this final outing, which leaves behind three deeply personal tracks. 'A Madness' brims with urgent, sample-heavy energy and signature keys. 'Not Him Again' is a jam with longtime collaborator Robert Marin that plays with tempo and hip-hop norms. 'Them Things' then seeks to capture an elusive feeling and closes an EP that is Domu at his most reflective and raw. The end of an era. Don't let it pass you by.

Sing About Love (4:41)
Review: Over three decades since it first landed like a glitter-covered brick on 90s dancefloors, Haddaway's 'What Is Love' returns in a newly remastered edition i and it still hits like heartbreak in a club bathroom at 2am. Originally released by the Trinidad-born, Germany-based singer in 1993, the track remains an unmatched high watermark of eurodance: emotionally grand, melodically undeniable and rhythmically bulletproof. The remaster elevates the sound without overcooking it, keeping the bass taut and the synths sharper than ever. This new 10" release pairs the remastered 7" and 12" mixes with three more Haddaway essentials. 'Rock My Heart' is all turbocharged joy, while 'I Miss You' slows things down into something softer, almost wistful. 'Sing About Love', a lesser-known cut, benefits most from the fresh polish i suddenly blooming into full pop spectacle. It's a brand new release with one foot in club history and the other in now, reintroducing Haddaway's iconic anthem to a new generation while giving long-time fans the sonic upgrade they didn't know they needed. There's sincerity here that still feels bracing i love hurts, sure, but it also bangs. Put simply: if this is what nostalgia sounds like, we're fully on board.

Art Form (4:15)
Art Class (5:07)
Art School (8:18)
Review: Detroit's Robert Hood returns to vinyl with a techno triptych that distils his vision into something sharp, agile and impossibly refined. Though long synonymous with minimalism, he hasn't sounded this raw in yearsi'Art Form' arrives like a jolt, all jacking 909s and acidic flickers that feel urgent and alive. It's his first straight techno release since 2024, and it pulses with a kind of stripped-down euphoria, framed by Hood's ear for clean lines and stark rhythmic discipline. 'Art Class' deepens the tone, winding through heavier acid modulations that buzz beneath a more spacious arrangement, less confrontational but just as potent. On the B-side, 'Art School' leans into the cinematic mode, pairing sci-fi synth washes with grinding low-end pressure, rolling somewhere between introspection and propulsion. Though the tracks first landed digitally earlier this year, hearing them sequenced here offers a deeper read into Hood's blueprintiacid as method, groove as design. In his own words, M-Plant is about "only what is essential", and these three cuts prove just how much feeling can be encoded in that minimal frame. It's a statement of intent, executed with absolute clarity from one of techno's true architects.

Review: Infamy, Infamy, they've all got it.... On rotation because this absolutely pops hard and is far too good to be trivialized with an old Carry On quote! 11 years have passed since the artist also known as A1 Bassline returned to his Infamy alias for these two brutalist jungle jams but they still sound shockingly good to this day. Abrasive, choppy, and loaded with tightly coiled energy. This is proper jungle, the way it's always been on Inperspective. Grab this now if you haven't already.

The Joneses - "Love Contest" (Dave Lee extended Disco mix) (8:53)
Street People - "I Wanna Get Over" (Cosmodelica remix) (7:53)
Review: This second instalment in the Spring Revisited seriesia collaboration between Acid Jazz and Ace Recordsioffers two expertly handled edits from across the Atlantic rooted in the fertile legacy of 70s New York soul. London's modern disco institution Dave Lee reinvents The Joneses' 'Love Contest' with his trademark finesse, giving the track a full-bodied groove-up without losing its bittersweet heart. The strings soar, the rhythm section locks tight, and Lee's decades-deep knowledge of disco and boogie shines through in every detail. On the flip, New York-based Coleen 'Cosmo' Murphy brings lush new life to Street People's 'I Wanna Get Over'. With sun-drenched keys, crisp hand percussion and subtle delays, she transforms heartache into late-night liberation. Both sides feel like love letters from DJ to danceflooriclassic soul refracted through contemporary ears, pressed on wax that looks and feels like it just time-travelled from 1979.

Review: Brazilian hip-hop star Laiz follows her breakthorugh Ela Partiu album from last year with a multilingual, percussion-heavy tribute to Jorge Ben Jor & Quarteto Em Cy, threading Brazilian hip-hop through Latin groove, Afrobeat and free jazz. Recorded at Nima Studio in Hildesheim with her 20-strong band dubbed the New Love Experience, the album sits between languages and borders, echoing Laiz's own migration from Jundiai to Europe in 2019. Shaped as much by cultural dissonance as it is by Babylonian joy, the record is sung in seven languages, leaning on lyrical mysticism and transitive instrumental interplay, telling particular stories of heritage, upheaval and diasporic unity.

Deep End (feat J Mascis & Juliana Hatfield) (3:21)
Sad Cinderella (3:43)
Review: Making a long-awaited return this autumn, The Lemonheads are set to drop their first long player - Love Chant - in nearly 20 years. Ahead of a run of Australian shows, they've dropped 'Deep End', a wiry jolt of punk pop with Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis tearing through the choruses and Juliana Hatfield lending backing vocals. Co-written with Tom Morgan, it's full of scratchy charm and late-night cigarette haze, squarely in line with Evan Dando's long history of pop melancholy and ragged sincerity. The single gets a limited 12" release at just 500 copies. On the flip, a hushed duet with Erin Rae: Townes Van Zandt's 'Sad Cinderella', all cracked-glass beauty and pedal steel ache, channelling classic Gram-and-Emmylou heartbreak.

Moonlight (7:30)
Review: Future garage via techno excursivenesses by new producer Loopdeville, whose name sure does sound like a place we'd like to live, London having failed us as of late! On deep purple vinyl first comes 'Celestial Quest', an interstellar undertaking handled with remarkable ease, with little so much as a flickery garage beat and ruminant chords making mellow light of light years. Mihai Pol amps up the danger factor with rogue chord asteroids threatening to pierce the hull; and B-siders 'Nosy Fella' and 'Moonlight' both swerve tactile, with their concussive percussions and vocal murmurations, resounding like unconscious inner workings of the spacefaring mind.

Woody Bianchi & Pietro Nicosia - "Zou's Song" (feat Zouratie Kone) (7:05)
Review: We're not sure what a Groovebom exactly is, but we can assure you that the head of this Ialian label Luis Radio has you covered. Emphasising constancy and sophistication, the dispositif of Groovebum is as follows: "untroubled by internal strife, untempted by drastic changes of direction, inspired by the long shadows of its own history but with feet planted in the present day and one eye of the future". Remarkable! Their newest comp is a Hammond-heavy hoverer in the vein of deep house, lilting between the leading solo-tastic 'Reach Up' from Radio himself, before the soulful house reactionary motto detourner 'Make Love Great Again' by Deep Roger and Marc Evans, and the closing handpan calypso culmination, 'Zou's Song', by Woody Bianchi and Pietro Nicosia.

Needin' U (Boss anthem mix)
Needin' U (original Mistake)
Review: David Morales made a lot of great house records in the 1990s, but few were quite as commercially successful as 1998's 'Needin' U', a gargantuan disco-house slammer that made liberal use of elements from classic tracks by the Chi-Lites and Rare Pleasure. On this Groove Records reissue, the 'Original Mistake' version - the familiar, filter-heavy disco-house looper that formed the basis of the radio edit - is joined by what many believe is the greatest mix, the 'Boss Anthem' take. Strangely omitted from the UK release in 1998, it's ten minutes of tough, DJ Sneak-inspired drums, restless piano stabs, righteous disco samples and oodles of energy. It's undoubtedly one of the best disco-house slammers ever made and more than worthy of a place in your collection.

Lush (Euro-Tunnel Disaster '94) (8:05)
Walk About (6:22)
Semi Detached (8:07)
Attached (6:54)
Review: Recorded live on September 10, 1993, for BBC Radio 1, this set strips back the studio polish in favour of raw, surging energy, breathing new life into core tracks from their Brown Album era. Their explosive 1993 John Peel session was a broadcast that captured the UK rave pioneers at their most visceral and unfiltered. The versions of 'Lush 3-1', 'Walk Now...' and 'Semi Detached' found here are looser, leaner and more urgent. 'Lush' in particular throbs with a relentless momentum, shedding its original texture in favor of a tougher, more improvised drive. It's a perfect showcase of Orbital's gift for live manipulation, transforming structured studio pieces into kinetic, spontaneous soundscapes. This reissue boasts newly commissioned artwork by Intro and aligns with the legacy of the Peel Sessions as a proving ground for boundary-pushing talent. Critics and longtime fans have praised the EP for its intensity and fluidity, supporting Orbital's status as live innovators. Radio Sessions is a nostalgic artifact and a reminder of how thrilling and forward-thinking Orbital's sound was.

Age Of Chance - "Time's Up (Timeless)"
LFO - "LFO" (Leeds Warehouse mix)
Alice D In Wonderland - "Time Problem" (Techno Speed Work)
Review: Belgian label Music Man Records continues its deep dive into local club history with a standout 12" drawn from a wider retrospective on Destelbergen's legendary Boccaccio club. This release centres on the early house and techno that defined its Sundays-an alternative narrative to the better-known New Beat story. The A-side opens with Steve Poindexter's 'Computer Madness', all skeletal drum patterns and jacking minimalism, before UK crew Age Of Chance explode with 'Time's Up (Timeless)', a proto-rave anthem remixed into cut-and-paste chaos. On the flip, LFO's self-titled 'Leeds Warehouse Mix' drops like a techno blueprint-bleep-heavy, bold, and unmistakably northern. Closing the set is Alice D In Wonderland's 'Time Problem (Techno Speed Work)', a hyper, squiggly take on acid techno that feels like a high-speed trip through late-80s futurism. With selections curated by Olivier Pieters and Stefaan Vandenberghe, this 12" captures the rawness, friction, and thrill of a scene that still resonates across Europe's underground.

Review: With Pattern Gardening, London-after-Leeds imprint Wisdom Teeth yank out an extra gnasher we didn't know we had. As has always been the case, label heads Facta and K-Lone could be said to have curated and curetted a new compilation from the joint dentist's chair, exacting a 22-track root canal with periodontal precision, nearly doubling the size of their V/A ambit since 2024's Club Moss. But on this selective six-track sampler for wax, we've only a further sanding down of a much larger minimal, micro and tech house selection; here's gummy textures and maxillary moods by Polygonia, rRoxymore, Lurka, Sub Basics, and newcomer Jichael Mackson. Clarity and sound design are top priorities, as is the ideal of whitened teeth flashed by the poolside. Snappy, Rhodesy, watery.

Review: This new one from Stefan Ringer on his FWM Entertainment combines two distinct releases in one: 3 tracks from his 2021 Meta Music EP and his darker alias Black Sued's 'Rogue' EP. It's a yin-yang journey of sound that shows his range and quality. 'Monotone' pairs signature deep chords and soulful vocals and distorted bass with minimal drums, while 'New Plan' is a driving, rhythmic workout of persistence and groove. 'YIA' offers meditative chords and affirmations set against a thunderstorm backdrop and the flip, the title cut explores shadowy jazz textures with a mysterious groove, 'Maze' marches forward with urgency and layered rhythm, while 'Deep Dirt' closes with gritty, broken-machine chaos. Together, these EPs make for a powerful emotional and sonic contrast.

Review: Trax Records mainstay and Chicago "Queen Of House Music" contender Screamin' Rachael surfaces with 'Disco 3000', a rawhide vinyl-only blast of acid-soaked Chicago grit, limited to just 150 hand-numbered copies. This 12" pushes her punk-inflected house legacy into tougher, sci-fi terrains, looping in longtime Trax affiliates for a three-track session that cuts deep. Side A opens with 'Bitch (D BEAT Long Version)', a stripped, percussive thumper with Trax's A&R in the driver's seat, followed by Marcus Mixx's warped 303 meltdown 'Acid Trip - Unending Journey Mixx'. Flip it for DJ Chip Chop's chaotic 'Disco 3000 MEGA MIX', stitching wild-eyed moments from Screamin' Rachael's earlier LP into one breathless rush of clattering, drum-machinic squelch.

Count Down (2:16)
Corporation (3:42)
Review: This sizzling Hammond B-3 laced two-sider from Tommy Sims is a funk-infused gem that would make legends like Jimmy Smith and Brother Jack McDuff do a double-take. Bursting with soulful groove and rich, swirling organ tones, each side delivers brilliant vintage jazz-funk. The lead track lays down deep, bluesy riffs over tight drums and nimble bass, while the flip brings a more playful, upbeat vibe with sunny and infectious swing and crisp solos. Classic organ-driven soul-jazz never sounded better and this is proof that the mighty B-3 still reigns supreme when placed in the right hands.

Hak Dellali (4:27)
Hak Dellali (Voodoocuts remix) (4:48)
Review: Madrid-based Sinouj blends Mediterranean roots with contemporary jazz, funk, rock and West African rhythms on this wonderful new 7". Their inclusive approach brings together influences from flamenco, Iranian classical, soul and modern jazz, all of which can be heard here in music that feels both global and uniquely theirs. Their latest release reimagines 'Hak Dellali,' a North African classic popularised in the 80s by Tunisian and Emirati artists. Sinouj transforms the song with Moroccan chaabi beats and Tuareg blues-rock energy, and it has become a staple and standout of their live shows. A psychedelic remix by Berlin's Voodoocuts adds a club-ready angle.

Review: Unknown-Untitled are back, and primed to expand on their "music comes first" label concept, whereby (or at least, this was the case when the UK label first started) the artist info is revealed in the record sleeve and available to the listener only after purchase. The trademark approach seems to have relaxed a bit, with this 12th topup to their various artists series hears every name checked from the init, besides the artist behind track 2, who's simply billed as 'Unknown Untitled'. Otherwise, Son Of Philip catalyses a crisp start to a dutty night with proper hardstep intelligence on 'One Burn', while DJ JM responds with downwards kick impacts and self-surveilled textural swish on 'Shoplifting', and Ciel brings 'Memento Mori', a wonky 150ish jungle-juke flex to round off.

Give Me Your Love (Love Song) (3:22)
Give Me Your Dub (dub mix) (3:22)
Review: Curtis Mayfield's tender falsetto and political lyrical activations made him one of soul's most distinctive and influential figures of the 70s. Addressing civil rights, urban life, and Black identity with rare grace, it's little wonder that his catalogue has since proved a goldmine for reinterpretation, where 'Move On Up', 'The Makings of You' and 'People Get Ready' continue to inspire covers over generations. Here, howsoever the decision was made, do Soul Shepherds reshake a less-known Mayfield favourite in dub, 'Give Me Your Love', a dark-horse ode to good lovin', originally track 6 on the soul star's great soundtrack to the pimpin' 70s film Superfly. "It's true, you're such a gun / Make my lungs sigh" go the brusque lyrics, proving the sensuousness of Mayfield's broadly applicable approach to love.

Macumba De Oxala (7:40)
La Danse De L'Esprit (feat Lalin St Juste) (6:43)
Review: Nicola Conte and Nico Lahs, both Bari-born producers pushing the boundaries of underground Afro-Latin and jazzdance, hear the warmest of intros through their friends over at Schema Italy, their sound pivoting a careful Newtonian balance between presence and nostalgia. The roomy but distant highs of 'Macumba De Oxala' contrast strongly yet subtly to the hifi plinks and percs of 'La Danse De L'Esprit', on the latter of which we hear visiting production fellow Oaklandian Lalin St Juste add an ancestral vocal magic. This first EP is only a start, with a second 12" and a resultant double LP planned.

Finance Or Romance (4:12)
Body Wave (3:20)
Review: Some cynics say there's no romance *without* finance, but the one hit wondrous German funk and soulers Thirty Two Soul Band begged to differ. A formerly unreleased lowrider soul beauty from 1975, 'Finance Or Romance' was shelved for nearly half a century, but now it finally steps out of the vault and chooses love. Woozy horns collide with a plaintive groove that could've easily lit up any Eastside cruise: "what's it gonna be, what's it gonna be?". On the flip, 'Body Wave' also resurfaces for the first time since its scarce 7" run, a sultry midtempo cut, dusty fidelity intact.

Review: Matti Turunen is no stranger to Vortex Traks as he had previously dropped music here and appeared on the label's very first release and also later as part of Morphology. This, however, is his solo debut and it's a classy exploration of melodic electro. 'Tharsis' kicks off with lithe synths and sheet metal sounds flapping in a stiff cosmic wind. 'Pavonis' is deeper and more heady, 'Arsia' is built on neck-snapping drum patterns and 'Ascraeus' rides on plaintive pads. Last but not least is a collaboration with Dora Gray, 'Daedalia', which is an ambient-laced delight.

Review: PAX-AM is the brainchild ofJacksonville singer-songwriter and author Ryan Adams, originally dreamed up during his high school years as a DIY cassette label for home-recorded genre experiments. Though those early tapes never left his inner circle, the name stuck. It's been a sandbox for Adams' prolific output ever since, blurring lines between alt-country, punk, classic rock and tape-hiss pop, all under his naive yet total creative control. Now, in homage to his favourite ever recording artists - many of whom you will likely recognise from the track titles alone here - Adams sings atop the altar, dirging covetously over the best of the Rolling Stones, Daniel Johnston, Bon Jovi, Oasis and Bob Dylan.
