Review: Veteran producer Dev Pandya has been pumping out various slants on the drum and bass genre since the mid 90s. It's as Alaska that Pandya has donned his ambient jungle hat, promising an epic trilogy of Tolkien-esque proportions that began a decade ago with the Virtual Virtuosos LP. Now four years on from Arctic Foundations, Alaska has released the final chapter in The Mesozoic Era. Supposedly composed in sub zero surroundings, tracks such as "Kodiak" and "Viola" will please fans of ambient jungle rinse outs, with Alaska also getting some stunning vocal performances from acclaimed trance siren Kirsty Hawkshaw and Robert Manos. Finally, on "Sample Me #17" Alaska again provides a track comprised of one long break for the budding producers out there to pilfer.

Review: Traditionally, Hospital's Med School offshoot has been used as a breeding ground for future D&B stars, often with a more experimental outlook. Anile, though, is no newcomer, having previously proved his production nous via 12" singles on DSM, Inneractive and Commercial Suicide. Perspective, though, is his debut album, and offers an ear-pleasing mix of woozy workouts, liquid-tinged rollers, cinematic fare (see the brilliantly evocative "Stay With Me") and classically-minded vocal numbers (see the S.P.Y style goodness of "Not The Way (To Run)". Keen to showcase the full breadth of his skills, Anile also serves up a couple of more experimental cuts, with the daring broken beat-meets-jungle flex of "Exchange" standing out.

Review: The long awaited album from A.I, 'Stand Alone' is a thirteen-track excursion into one of V Recordings' finest acts. From the shuffling percussive breaks of entree 'High Tide', through the dreamy ethereal vocal work from D Bridge in stand out single 'Three's A Crowd' to the scintillating summertime sunshine in 'Vertical Drop' (feat. Marky). Notable tracks include the collab with Full Cycle legend, Krust in the ear-battering 'Audio Assault', Jenna G's superb vocal contributions to 'Unforgettable' and 'Blind Eye' (feat. DRS), first seen on Friction's Assassin mix of '09. Tuning into a vintage analogue sound, 'Stand Alone' is nothing short of a painstakingly crafted masterpiece. Outstanding.

Review: There's no denying ASC's work ethic; the Brit-in-San Diego has released a steady stream of albums and singles since 1999, and still finds time to run the lauded Auxillary imprint. Here he returns to Samurai Red Seal, with his first full-length for the imprint since 2012. As usual, he's working at drum and bass's experimental fringes, delivering blends of fuzzy electronics, creepy textures and subtle, pared-back jungle rhythms that arguably have more in common with vintage IDM (the much-forgotten Neotropic project on Ninja Tune's NTone offshoot, for starters) than blistering dancefloor jungle. Few do this kind of murky D&B futurism better, though, and Imagine The Future is a mighty impressive set.

Review: Amazingly, this is the ninth album from experimental D&B veteran ASC. Those who've followed his career to date should know what to expect; an atmospheric and all-enveloping sound that uses traditional D&B rhythms and structures sparingly, instead flipping between clandestine electronica, IDM and shuffling ambience (see the crackly opener "Spheres", which recalls his recent work with fellow experimentalist Sam KDC on the Decayed Society LP). It's a fusion that delivers real quality, from the late night '90s vibes of "Glass Wall", and guitar-laden Balearica of "Oneironaut", to the beatless beauty of "A Song For Hope", technological grooves of "Prometheus", and glitchy oddness of "Stay True".

Review: There's something decidedly bleak, almost heartbreakingly sad, about this collaborative album from sometime D&B producers ASC (head honcho of Auxiliary) and Sam KDC. As with ASC's most recent full-length, the steadfastly ambient The Light That Burns Twice As Bright, it's a moody and atmospheric affair, dealing mostly in FX-laden drones, slow-burn melodies and near-endless chords. At times it sounds like a post-modern take on the drifting ambience of Pete Namlook, at others a weary comment on the current state of Western society. Throughout, there's an odd warmth and emotional resonance that belies its introspective approach. Closer "No Safety Zone", for example, seemingly shimmers with toasty warmth.

Review: While their powers may have waned in recent years, there was a time when each new Autechre release was nigh on essential. This sumptuous box set from Warp revisits that time, collecting together all 47 tracks from their singles between 1991 and 2002. Naturally, it runs chronologically, beginning with their hard, rave-era floor fillers (see "Cavity Job") and early IDM experiments (various versions of the brilliant "Basscadet"), before moving on to the clattering rhythms of the Anvil Vapre and Envane EPs, the smacked-out bliss of Cichlisuite and the dystopian worlds of EP 7. Along the way there are two Peel Sessions, a raft of forgotten favourites and a skip load of cold and weary gems.

Review: Lukas Kozelka has been beavering away on the margins of the drum & bass scene for sometime, quietly building a reputation as a purveyor of trustworthy, floor-filling beats. Here he unveils his debut album, an expansive set of home stereo friendly club bangers. Wisely, he's chosen to pepper the album with smart and upbeat collaborations with vocalist Lady Katee. It's these, most notably the string-laden "Never Give Up", moody "Dark Skies" and Hospital-ish "Where Do I Begin", that really make the album. That's not to say that Axiom's instrumental moments are sub-standard far from it, in fact but their moody paranoia packs more punch when accompanied by such well-constructed sweetness.

Review: Veteran producer, radio host and Metalheadz resident Bailey knows a thing of two about darkside drum & bass, having been one of the scene's major players since way back in 2003. Here, he showcases his skills as selector and mixer with Warehouse Music, an all-action throwdown for V Recordings' offshoot Chronic. Bold, ravey, stomping and suitably bass-heavy, it sees Bailey sprinting through a selection of heavyweight rollers from the likes of Roni Size, Saxxon, Crytical Dub, Command Strange and L-Side. Throughout, the old skool jungle influence is clear, and Bailey barely pauses for air. It's that kind of mix - a quick, thrill-a-minute ride through D&B's bolder pastures.

Review: In the two years since he dropped his debut album on Plug Research, Fantastic Plastic, NYC producer Lee Bannon has ditched experimental hip-hop in favour of dark, cinematic moods and crunchy junglist rhythms. It's a surprising move - though, given the interplay between the two genres between the years, logical - but one that seems to have brought the best out of the talented 20-something. Alternate/Endings is atmospheric, intoxicating and inspired, as claustrophobic as it is evocative. It's like soundtrack drum and bass - vintage Amon Tobin with more old skool jungle rhythms, or Wagon Christ circa his Open Mind remix (a Ninja Tune classic, fittingly) - crossed with darkroom electronica. Furthermore, it's really rather good. Bravo, Bannon, bravo!

Review: It seems an age ago that Goldie, LTJ Bukem, Roni Size and others revolutionized the world of drum and bass by fixing jungle rhythms to the sort of sophisticated musicality that proved, beyond doubt, the endless opportunities the genre offered for forward-thinking producers. Spearhead boss BCee remembers, as his latest full-length, Lost & Found, is packed with sparkling, string-laden material that harks back to the halcyon days of "intelligent D&B". While there are bombastic interludes - see the rough, late night flex of "Fatal Attraction" and "Typical Description" - the album's finest moments - the stunning opener "Lost & Found", with its sweet soul vocal from Rocky Nti, and the delicious "Class of '92" - are impressively melodic and emotion-rich.

Review: Summer may be over, but the sun is still shining in the studio of Spearhead Records' founder Steve "BCee" Jefroy. North Point, his fifth full length in six years, begins with a sparkling blast of soulful, sun-drenched D&B, and the positivity keeps on rolling throughout. While there are occasional deviations towards a punchier, crunchier and slightly darker sound (see "Armed & Dangerous" and the full-throttle jungle revivalism of "Hollow Eyes"), these merely add a little variety to an otherwise thrillingly upbeat and musically rich collection. Then again, when you've got the likes of Logistics, Dynamite MC, Riyah and Thomas Oliver lending a hand, you'd expect good vibes to all round.

Review: BCee returns to the scene with his third full length LP, and yes, it's a stunner. If you enjoy intricately woven drum and bass with a deeply rooted feel (designed with the dancefloor in mind), this ticks all the right boxes. Kicking off with the beautiful and deadly "Firebox", there is no let-up in high quality sounds throughout the extensive tracklisting. BCee teams up with LSB and Rocky Nti for the stunning "River Runs Dry", Villem employs the unmistakeable voice of Frank Carter to deliver "I Believe", and the one and only SPY reaches out with the soulful and deeply rolling "It Begins With You". You could be forgiven for bagging this for the top-drawer collaborations alone but of course BCee's own music here is this release's crowning achievement.

Review: Since making his debut in 2014, Moscow-based Bert H has rapidly become one of the rising stars of soulful drum & bass. His punchy, melodic and rolling productions have previously been showcased on a dizzying array of singles and EPs. Here, he finally delivers his debut album, a vibrant and colourful romp heavy on collaborations with fellow Russian soul-junglist High N Sick and like-minded producers Monroe and Silence Groove. He barely puts a foot wrong throughout, delivering weighty but ear-pleasing tunes that offer a superb balance between melodious musicality, attractive dreaminess and funk-fuelled D&B heaviness. In other words, it's a hugely enjoyable first full-length that gets better with every listen.

Review: Producer Robin O'Reilly has form. Under the Big Bud alias, he's been making sparkling liquid drum and bass and deep downtempo grooves since the late 1990s. After impressing with a string of albums on Good Lookin', he set up his own Soundtrax imprint. On Blue & Green, his seventh full-length, he continues the melodic journey that started way back in 1995. He's a past master at starry drum and bass, and here fuses classic jungle breaks and snappy rhythms with sweeping chords, cascading pianos, drifting vocal samples and stargazing electronics. It's a tried-and-tested approach, but one that ensures enjoyable listening. For those of a certain age, Blue & Green is a misty-eyed blast from the past.

Review: With a bulging discography that includes a string of albums on Bukem's Good Lookin' label, Robin 'Big Bud' O'Reilly has clearly found his niche within drum & bass. His sound - a glistening, musically rich take on jungle that fuses the deep grooves of Good Lookin' and disco-funk of Hospital with the fluidity of classic liquid D&B - is never less than gorgeously appealing, as Kool Beans neatly proves. Taking in influences as diverse as traditional Indian music, blues, jazz, classic hardcore and, of course, soul, it merrily skips from track to track with an infectious musicality that holds your attention throughout.
