Reflex III
Reflex III (hand-stamped 12" in hand-stamped sleeve)
Cat: Telomere 018. Rel: 01 Dec 22

Deep House
Acid Groove (6:40)
Skullgroove (5:26)
Xruise Control (5:58)
Booby Trap (8:51)
Review: Audio Reflex is a project from an artist also known as Anderson, Audio Research Council, Moon Driver and Purple Celestial amongst other names. The chances are, if you're into tech house, you'll have grooved to one of their tunes at some point across one project or another. After a couple of volumes on parent label Wex, now Audio Reflex drops a third slab of jams on Telomere Plastic with the express intention to take you deeper. 'Acid Groove' is not a 303 tweak out, but rather a psychedelic voyage through teeming flora and fauna driven by a springy beat, while 'Skullgroove' swerves any gothic implications for a lush cascade of soft-focus melodic tones and snaking, trippy percussion. 'Xruise Control' switches things up with a trance-licked Balearic cruiser for the sunglasses crowd, and then 'Booby Trap' slips down into a slinky, funky configuration with some choice guitar licks and wiggy pings and plongs to get those limbs greased and flowing on the floor.

As It Approaches
Cat: TELOMERE 0202. Rel: 11 Jul 23

Minimal House/Tech House
Baenglund - "Funk Inspector" (5:46)
Aspetuck - "As The Fog Rolls In" (6:01)
Anderson - "Aquabound" (6:45)
Watch Patrol - "Wandering In The Garden" (5:24)
Review: There's an abundance of crafty, ear-snagging gear coming out on Telomere Plastic these days and the steady stream of VA releases are a handy window into some of the freshest operators in the more creative ends of minimal tech house. Baenglund is having a jolly time of it tweaking out the freaky synth riffs on 'Funk Inspector', while Aspetuck creates a teasing, strung-out after hours sound which tips towards electronica on 'As The Fog Rolls In'. Anderson brings a little trance influence to the crooked groove of 'Aquabound', and Watch Patrol softens the edges with an acidic bubblebath on 'Wandering In The Garden'.

Earth & Heaven EP

Deep House
Beyond (3:50)
Science Of Magnets (4:57)
Chroma (5:42)
A Special Place (7:17)
Tethys (7:00)
Review: Telomere Plastic is a new and limited edition sub label of Wex that has a firm focus on stripped back and heady minimal and tech house grooves. They're putting out a flurry of releases in a short space of time, but we're not complaining, because they're all well worth your attention. ESB is behind this one after previously should out outings on Echovolt, Leftroom and Heart To Heart. He has his sights firmly set on the future here, with 'Beyond' being a nice and slippery, synthetic and shiny mix of synths, hits and bass, and other highlights like 'Chroma' being warm, cuddly moods and grooves.

Plyfe EP
Plyfe EP (hand-stamped 12" limited to 150 copies)
Cat: TELOMERE 008. Rel: 22 Feb 21

Breakbeat
Loopo (6:00)
Plyfe (6:06)
Raarup Jam (6:00)
Vlob Tool (5:47)
Review: Eversines has enjoyed an interesting career to date, switching between intriguing electronica experiments (see his blissful collaboration with Carolina Eyck, the sumptuous Waves), and more rugged, intoxicating dancefloor workouts (a fine 12" on Kalahari Oyster Cult). This time round, the Amsterdam-based producer is in club-focused mode. He begins bu surrounding a rubbery breakbeat with broken modem electronics, twisted acid lines and deep bass on 'Loopo', before reaching for spacey pads and bubbly lead lines on sci-fi brekas special 'Plyfe'. B-side opener 'Raarup Jam' is hypnotic, odd and otherworldly in the best possible way, while 'Vlob Tool' is a bongo-laced trip into percussion-rich deep techno.

Remember Your Days
Remember Your Days (hand-stamped 12" in hand-stamped sleeve)
Cat: TELOMERE 0203. Rel: 19 Dec 23

Deep House
Hiroyuki Kato - "Black" (9:48)
Six Dreams - "Static Es" (5:18)
Ty Serna - "Going Out Of Business" (6:42)
Sherman C - "Once U Pop" (3:39)
Konerytmi - "Aikapiste" (4:19)
Review: Telomere Plastic asks you to Remember Your Days with a new six-track various artists EP full of delightfully designed club sounds. The melodies on Hiroyuki Kato are impossibly pure and delicate as they rain down the face of the shuffling drums of 'Black' while Six Dreams offers a complete vibe flip - the crisp and kinetic electro of 'Static Es.' Ty Senrna gets into a twitchy mutant tech house groove on 'Going Out Of Business' and Sherman C's 'Once U Pop' is an acid-laced breakbeat gem with a brilliantly tongue-in-cheek vocal sample that runs right through it, and Konerytmi shuts down with the silky drum breaks and sci-fi piste of 'Aikapiste'.

Sanaton EP
Sanaton EP (hand-stamped 12" in hand-stamped sleeve)
Cat: TELOMERE 017. Rel: 01 Dec 22

Electro
Orava (4:46)
Orbitaali (4:51)
Sattumuksi (4:54)
Ilta (4:59)
Perhonen (4:44)
Sanaton (4:29)
Review: Konerytmi is on fire right now. He has served up plenty of good 12"s on labels like Infiltrate, Eudemonia Germany and Russia's Electro Music Coalition. His take on electro is cinematic and serene and now he takes it to Telomere Plastic for six more sublime cuts. There is wonky acid bass to 'Orava' while 'Orbitaali' is all about corrugated bass-funk and slapping hits. 'Sattumuksi' is all shiny melodies and future cosmic worlds then 'Ilta' slows it down for a more hypnotic roller. 'Perhonen' gets lively with some old school breaks and last of all is the most heartfelt and melancholic cut 'Sanaton.'

Meri EP
Meri EP (hand-stamped 12" limited to 150 copies)
Cat: TELOMERE 006. Rel: 20 Oct 20

Electro
Algoritmi (4:28)
Meri (6:02)
Taika (5:34)
Hejastus (5:44)
Review: Whether you know him best as Dr Floyd, Juno Laine or one of the many other aliases he's had over the years, Russian-in-Finland Kirilll Junolainen is a remarkably prolific and consistent artist in the contemporary electro sound. His recent Preset album Sahkomusiikki is a fine example of this, as is this very special 12" on Telomere. Four cuts deep, each one showcases a different side to Kirill from his most playful ('Algoritmi') to his most stern ('Hejastus') by way of his most laidback and slinky ('Meri') All analogue soul and only essential ingredients, while his output is maximal, the sonic make-up is always perfectly minimal.

Mielenohjain EP
Mielenohjain EP (hand-stamped 12" limited to 150 copies)
Cat: TELOMERE 011. Rel: 22 Feb 21

Electro
Kemia (4:19)
Kolme-Nolla-Kolme (4:36)
Mielenohjain (4:39)
Siluetti (4:07)
Postipankki (4:41)
Mikrosiru (4:46)
Review: Strap in for some high octane business right from the opening beat here. 'Kemia' is acidic electro that rides on bumping drums and has coruscated 303 flashes lighting up the night skies. '
Kolme-Nolla-Kolme' is similar but amped up to 11 and twisted even more, then 'Mielenohjain' is all restless gurgles, pinging kicks and hissing hi hats. Electro-funk doesn't get much funkier or more than authentic than on 'Siluetti' while 'Postipankki' brings a modern ghetto aesthetic. 'Mikrosiru' is another high class tune that will keep you on your toes. What an EP.

Minimal House/Tech House
Morning Confusion (6:12)
The Snuffles (6:07)
3rd Line (5:57)
Where's My Sofa (6:05)
Review: Keeping a close eye on your dancefloors, Neighbourhood Watch Patrol is the civic-minded mystery artist at the heart of the Telomere Plastic operation. "Morning Confusion" is their second EP in as many months and once again sees the shadowy outfit join the dots between chunky tech-house, acid and electro. Bold, thickset basslines and crunchy beats are the order of the day on side A, where hip-wiggling, all-action opener "Morning Confusion" is quickly followed by the low-slung tech-house box jam that is "The Snuffles". Over on the flip it's all about electro/tech-house fusion, first via the gently pulsing, deep space shuffle of "Third Line", and then the crystalline electronic riffs and funky acid bass of EP highlight "Where's My Sofa".

The Telomere Connection (hand-stamped 12" limited to 150 copies)
Cat: TELOMERE 00. Rel: 20 Oct 20

Minimal House/Tech House
Sherman C - "Bubble It Up" (6:11)
Rural Red - "Wax On Wax Off" (6:59)
JD Typo - "Dancefloor Between" (7:03)
Anderson - "Glider Girl" (7:16)
Review: Telomere Plastic is a limited edition Wex sub series "sharing electronics from all around the spectrum." This first missive is a strong various artists release, The Telomere Connection, featuring sounds from Sherman C, Rural Red, JD Typo and Anderson. It's a lithe and synthetic affair that kicks off with bendy tones and warped pads while 'Wax On Wax Off' is a more drum-focussed grover with rippling kicks and sci-fi details. The future facing 'Dancefloor Between' gurgles with soft acid bubbles and 'Glider Girl' rounds out in bumpy fashion.

The Beginning Of The End
The Beginning Of The End (limited hand-stamped 12")
Cat: TELOMERE 0201. Rel: 13 May 23

Techno
Vinaya - "Fansy Organ" (7:05)
Synaptic Voyager - "Self Destruct Sequence" (6:36)
ESB - "Keio Acid" (5:59)
Vonsuck - "Unemati" (5:04)
Review: Wex Records celebrates the end of its Telomere Plastic series with a five-part vinyl release looking into the work of four artists each, firing the starting gun with this new V/A-er from Vinaya, Synaptic Voyager and company. Neat, raw and melodic techno adorns each side; 'Fantasy Organ' remains heavy on the echo and jazzy, stuttered Hammond organs - while 'Keio Acid' hums with undulatory sizzly energy, happy with its wonky indeterminacy.

It's Where You At (5:53)
Trial & Error (5:34)
Brake It (5:52)
Operation (5:41)
Review: Justin Pakzad releases music under a lot of different aliases as well as his own name, and his Watch Patrol project is one of the best. Continuing a fruitful run with Wex sublabel Telomere Plastics, this third Watch Patrol EP strikes a sweet spot between spooked-out minimal, elegant electro and synthwave. 'It's Where You At' adheres to a solid house groove but it's largely defined by moody analogue-sounding synth lines, while 'Trial & Error' deals in a springy break-embellished beat with a garage-y bounce and more dystopian sound shards setting the tone. 'Brake It' deals in a slow and low strain of machine funk for darkened souls, and 'Operation' offers up a trippy construction with deftly sliced drum loops and ample atmospherics.
