Review: Los Angeles trio Acetone were one of the most quietly influential bands of the 1990s, blending elements of country, folk, and psychedelic rock into a unique sound that was all their own. Fans of Duster, Mazzy Star or Slint - but for whom a lilting country twang is also a necessary ingredient in the listening pie - will be sated. 1992-2001 collects the band's entire discography, including their legendary album If You Only Knew, which has been out of print for years. Sensitive, plodding and occupying only the haziest of backwaters of memory for most, highlights from this eerie LITA throwback include the tracks 'Germs' and 'Midnight Cowboy'. But all the tracks do the job, to be honest.

Review: Viva La Revolution indeed. The Adicts tore out of England's east coast, and specifically Ipswich, and immediately made an impact. Asked to change their name by Sire Records in a bid to appease the charts and TV bookers - although, oddly, one of the options was apparently The Fun Adicts, which raises more quandaries - Rockers In Orbit captures their huge sound in all its glory. Recorded live at Alabama Halle, Munich, Germany, depending on which way you're listening first impressions invoke breakneck punk, motoring metal, and even the romance and commanding power of The Cure at their loudest and most dominating. Ultimately, though, these guys just sound like The Adicts. A questionable reference point we can only assure you is meant as a total complement. Not a band people will forget in a hurry.

Review: The sixth album by American scene/screamo band AFI hears a timely 20th Anniversary reissue here. Hinting at a more gothic direction and an abandonment of their former footings in hardcore punk and horrorpunk, we hear Davey Havok and co. move through fast-paced punk and spitty vocals as ever, harking back to a much earlier time (2003) in which this genre sadly held more weight. Like a high school drama plunged into a nightmarish vampire apocalypse, the blend of sounds here are perfect for a late-night Twilight or Buffy binge - with sad piano interludes interspersed with grungey axe washouts and ruminations on hopelessness and despair.

Review: Alive Cooper's 1971 classic Killer was his fourth studio album during a truly unstoppable period for the Detroit rocker. He clocked up consecutive platinum-selling albums as well as five Top 40 hits such 'I'm Eighteen,' 'School's Out' and 'No More Mr. Nice Guy.' This reissue comes alongside a reissue of the 1972 album School's Out and has been newly remastered with the addition of rare recordings and previously unreleased live performances. This one topped out at #21 on the Billboard albums chart and featured hit singles such as 'Under My Wheels' and 'Be My Lover' as well as a prog-rock-inspired epic in the shape of 'Halo Of Flies.'

Review: The Allman Brothers Band's final concert, performed on October 28, 2014, at New York's Beacon Theatre, is now being celebrated with the release of Final Concert 10-28-14, available as a 3xCD box set. Curated by Warren Haynes, the remastered recording spans 29 tracks and includes a 16-page booklet with exclusive photos and liner notes. The concert, divided into three sets, shows the band's extensive legacy, featuring classic tracks like 'Mountain Jam', 'One Way Out', 'Statesboro Blues' and 'Melissa'. Founding members Gregg Allman, Jaimoe, and Butch Trucks were joined by Haynes, Derek Trucks, Marc Quinones and Oteil Burbridge, making for a lineup that masterfully honoured the band's roots. The Allman Brothers Band's signature blend of southern rock and blues. This is a fitting farewell to their storied career with both nostalgia and exceptional musicianship. The final track, 'Trouble No More', closes the set and the band's legacy on an emotional note.

Review: America is a legendary rock trio that burst onto the scene in the early 70s with their iconic debut America (Friday Music 9001), featuring the hit 'A Horse With No Name.' Their success continued with chart-topping singles that led Warner Records to release their first best-of collection, History/America's Greatest Hits in 1976. Produced by George Martin, the album included hits like 'Ventura Highway,' 'Tin Man,' 'Sister Golden Hair' and 'Lonely People.' This multi-platinum compilation is now available for the first time on Translucent red vinyl with fine mastered from original tapes by Joe Reagoso that preserve the warmth of their classic original tracks.

Review: A new standard black 5xLP box set to complement an alternate bicoloured deluxe version; The American Analog Set's formative first three albums - The Fun Of Watching Fireworks, From Our Living Room To Yours, and The Golden Band - are here gathered together under the name New Drifters, making up a great account of experimental breadth of the late 1990s Texas scene, and its utlimate expression in the work of this fivesome set of slowcorers. We hear a long take, as the band deliver a slow burning power-of-three for local monopolist Emperor Jones, all while quelling the thrums of fin-de-siecle angst by way of soft-sung tenors, emo catharses and sawn-off math rhythms. Notably but disputably described as "sloth kraut", there's a sepia-toned feel to the whole thing, but it's anything but lethargic; rather, it's beautiful. Remastered from the original analog tapes, this early-career spanning 5xLP box includes lyrics, photos and ephemera from the before times.
