A'Studio - "SOS" (feat Polina - Skylark remix - Nic Fanciulli edit) (6:43)
Tensnake - "Coma Cat" (Chloe Caillet remix) (5:45)
Harry Romero - "Revolution" (House Masters edit) (5:13)
Prunk & Rona Ray - "Keep It Simple" (6:41)
Review: The mighty Defeated has got a fun package on its hands here with some fat disco and house anthems primed and ready for big room summer fun. A'Studio's 'SOS' (feat Polina - Skylark remix - Nic Fanciulli edit) is chunky house with a hooky vocal and rolling groove designed to sweep you up and away. Chloe Caillet then remixes Tensnake's classic 'Coma Cat' into a hands-in-the-air house stomper with epic strings. Harry Romero's sweaty 'Revolution' gets its drums buffed up and well swung by a House Master's Edit and Prunk & Rona Ray steal the EP at the last with their lush vocal house cut 'Keep It Simple.'

Review: Voice Notes is a new imprint run by London underground veteran Toby Tobias with Alphonse. A five track various artist EP, Voice Notes 002 is a time-honoured memorial for its sister label London Housing Trust, that they shut down a few years ago after 10 releases. Featuring tracks by label boss Tobias who delivers some emotive electro on 'Streets Of Gold', his evil twin Alphonse on the UK flava of 'Rujac', plus introducing Dance with the dub techno deconstruction of 'Amber', Rodney Bennett with the classic Stateside deep house of 'Palm Sunday' and Pyramids of Space with the downbeat IDM journey 'Quantis'.

Grant Nelson - "In The Dark" (5:59)
Pontchartrain - "Don't Change It Up" (5:43)
Goddard - "Almasti" (6:11)
Review: With such a star-studded line-up of old and new talent involved, it's little surprise to find that De La Groove's fourth vinyl release is seriously good. It's that good, in fact, that there's no space to go into each and every highlight. Instead, we'll point you in the direction of some of our personal favourites. Check first the breezy and soulful US garage revivalism of Art of Tones' impeccable "So Sweet", before turning your attention to the dreamy, vibraphone-laden deep house sexiness of Cody Currie's "As of Yet (featuring Joel Holmes)". Grant Nelson's "In The Dark" is a fine slab of late '90s style UK garage, while Goddard's "Almasti" sounds like a nu-disco era riff on Pepe Bradock deep house classic "Deep Burnt".

Audio Werner - "Whistler" (8:00)
VICARI - "Somebody Knew" (6:57)
Stevo - "Hanma" (7:31)
Peer Du - "Whereabouts" (6:09)
Review: Stevo is the man behind this newly launched Kioto label and it is said to "draw inspiration from the rich tapestry of Japanese culture." Elements of both traditionalism and modernity colour the grooves and meticulously designed artwork houses the first 12". It's a various artists affair that launches with the lithe and silky minimalism of Audio Werner's 'Whistler.' VICARI offers a delightfully original sound with wispy melodies and punchy kicks that makes for irresistible body music. Stevo's 'Hanma' is blissed-out cosmic tech and this most classy inaugural EP closes with the silky and loopy charm of Peer Du's 'Whereabouts.'

Dan Piu - "Whispers Of Goodbye" (6:15)
Zarenzeit - "We Are All The Same " (4:17)
Review: Deep Inspiration Show Records is back with a second part of its Global Essence Sampler and it is another 12" that offers great nourishment for mind, body and soul. Barce from Spain featuring Roger Versey opens up with some slow but heavy house grovers awash with rugged synth loops. Dan Piu's 'Ocean' is an aquatic and dubby roller for bliss doit vibes, and Zarenzeit taps into dreamy old school Italo house on 'Heard Echoes.' The same three artists appear in the same order on the flip with three other originals which tap into deeper Detroit schools of house, Balearic and electro stylings.

Agather Pher - "Light Shadow" (6:08)
Review: Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas label has released a slew of top-quality deep house and dub techno music since its inception ten years ago in 2014. The label continues to be one of the top labels in Europe currently for deep listening dance music. This compilation celebrates the history of the label and is part one of the three EP's that will honor the Spanish imprint. This brilliant collection features the beautiful 'Tali' by Pablo Bolivar as well as Germany's Iron Curtis dancefloor burning remix of 'Boundaries' by Yarosslav. To close out the first side of the 12", you have the dark and mysterious dub techno gem 'Candelaria' by Krissky. The B-Side is equally as great with Powel's gentle tech remix of melancholy star 'Vine of the soul' by n2Deep. Then you have Anton Lanski who is also featured giving us the emotional 'Never knew her'. Closing the EP out is tech brilliant 'Light shadow' by Agatha Pher. This is a great example of a label showcasing the perfect songs that exemplify their labels sound.

Oxigenio (6:03)
Badu Badu (7:16)
Review: Proper deep house heads, this one is for you. Jorge Caiado and Paul Cut combine to soul soothing effect across four tracks for Inner Balance, a sister label of Chez Damier's seminal and similarly minded Balance label. 'The Escape' opens with coy chords that scurry across the cuddly deep groove. On 'Mist' the pads are more painterly as they sweep out over more perfectly lazy yet inviting drums and 'Oxigenio' has a far-sighted gaze to it that will get you lost in a reverie in no time. 'Badu Badu' closes with more subtle funky chord work and the sort of rich musicality that really resonates.

Caramel 3000 - "Super Rapido" (SIRS cut) (9:30)
Sergio Messina & The Four Twenties - "Sometimes Remember" (Calm's Mellow Mellow Acid dub) (5:50)
Pedro Bertho - "Tornei" (feat Mariana Gehring - Feel Fly Estatico Danzante remix) (7:21)
My Friend Dario - "Acid Mosquito In A Summer Night" (DJ Spun It's Rong remix) (9:21)
Review: Don't let the playful, tongue-in-cheek title put you off; this EP does not contain 'Balearic gabba', should such a thing exist, but rather a quartet of largely dancefloor focused remixes of delightful downtempo cuts from the Hell Yeah! Recordings catalogue. SIRS steps up first to deliver a chugging, Italo-disco-goes-Balearic re-make of Carmel 3000's 'Super Rapido', before we're treated to one of Calm's TB-303-laden 'mellow acid' dubs, this time of Sergio Messina & The Four Twenties' gorgeous, soft and sun-soaked 'Sometimes Remember'. Over on side B, Feel Fly delivers a soft-focus Balearic deep house take on Pedro Bertho and Mariana Gehring's 'Tornei', while DJ Spun's revision of My Friend Dario's 'Acid Mosquito in a Summer Night' is a twisted, genuinely psychedelic dub disco excursion.

Review: Union Records was founded by Peppe Citarella in 2017. Since its inception, the label has introduced many artists from all over the world, particularly from Latin America. For its very first vinyl release, Citarella presents two tracks featuring the Masters At Work affiliated India, who lends her unmistakable vocal talents to the spiritual deep house groove of "Tacalacateo" which also receives an uplifting, life-affirming rendition by scene veteran Terry Hunter on his Club World Remix up next. Review: Germany's Bondage Records presents the tenth edition of Bondage Games, featuring four select contributions from some excellent producers in electronic music. On Side-1, Dachshund's 'Keep On' delivers a deep techy house vibe with a sexy loop, perfect for late-night gems. Following up is Sascha Dive & Pornbugs' 'Digital Dusk', a grooving techy house track that sets drives a heady atmosphere. Side-2 introduces Markus Homm, Brad Brunner, and AG Swifty's collaboration 'Take Out', a catchy tech house gem while the compilation closes with Alex Ranerro's 'Gotiva', a deeper, more ominous track leaning towards progressive house elements. Bondage Games 10th edition promises a collection of deep dancefloor grooves, tailor-made for darker clubs. With its diverse range of tracks, this release gives a DJ alot of great choices.

Review: Pietro 'Peter' Macaluso has been around for some time, operating between Berlin and his native Sicily, though remarkably this is the first time his productions have been showcased on vinyl. It comes via Balance Recordings, with boss man Chez Damier acting as 'executive producer'. There's much to admire across the EP, from the suspenseful, alien electronics and slow-build groove of deep Afro-tech bubbler 'Low Pressure (Afro-Acid Mix)', and the light-touch deep house hypnotism of 'Feel Me (Deep Mix)', where DJ Ronaldo-esque synth string sounds catch the ear, to the ultra-deep techno haziness of 'Cantico (Synth Wave Mix)' and the tough, bleeping throb of 'Take It Off (Techno Mix)'.

Gabriel (The Scroll mix) (6:59)
Gabriel (Tamborine dub) (7:13)

Gabriel (Words To Give By) (7:22)
Review: Is there a more positive, soulful and life-affirming dancefloor anthem out there than Roy Davis Jr and Peven Everett's 1996 jam "Gabriel"? As many will be aware, it has long been sought of as a classic, with soulful house, deep house, US and UK garage DJs all championing it back in the day. This white vinyl reissue boasts all of the mixes featured on the original 12". Perhaps the most famous version is the rolling, bass-heavy two-step flex of the "Live Garage" mix that opens side B, but there's plenty to set the pulse racing elsewhere. The driving, jazzy-but-stomping "Words To Give By" version has been annoyingly overlooked over the years, while the "Tambourine Dub" is deliciously sweaty and driving in the best possible way.

Review: House Cookin''s series House Cookin' Wax serves up a sixth delicious collection of trad house sounds here, all from a range of fresh names. DJ Merci's 'Just A Groove' is perfect 90s revivalism with golden, soft focus chords and nice woody beats and hits. Bruno Bar's 'A House Of Music' layers in some pensive spoken words to a nice chord-driven groove that is deep but dynamic. Pat Lezizmo continues on this same deliciously deep tip with more analogue excellence on 'Not In A Hurry', all with a nice dub underbelly, then Reagan Mian's 'Caracole' closes out with a little more bump and grind

Skylax House Explosion III: Under The Ballroom
Lauer - "Bigs" (6:36)
Octo Octa - "Running" (5:29)
Violence FM & The Underground Soulsavers - "Soleil Mauve" (11:41)
Review: Having previously danced "Under the Garage" and "Under The Loft", old pals DJ Sprinkles and Hardrock Striker are now throwing shapes beneath "The Ballroom" on this third and final part of the exclusive vinyl series accompanying their celebratory Skylax House Explosion mix CD. Fittingly, there's a trio of tracks to choose from, beginning with the tactile, loved-out dream house chords, fluttering FM synthesizer melodies and rubbery, retro-futurist Balearic house grooves of Lauer's "Bigs". Octa Octa steals the show with the alternately chiming and dreamily deep "Running" - all eyes-closed synthesizer melodies, elongated chords, cut-up vocals and snappy drum machine percussion - while "Soleil Mauve" by Violence FM and The Underground Soulsavers is an effortlessly good chunk of dreamy, melodious and ultra-deep house.

Review: Part one of Refuge's new La Decima V/A 12" series hears select tunes from select artists, all of whom have made significant contributions to the label's catalogue over the years. Spanning everything from firmly driven nu-disco to scratch n' sniff garage house to Chi-style stompers, we're more than enthralled by this well-rounded resonator. The best of the bunch has to be Demuir's 'Vibez High', which moves unabashed and stringy, its clawing claps, freeze-locked funk licks and scraping open hats painting a vivid street scene set outside the house.

It's a classy deep house outing from the off with Meftah's 'Recognizing Strength In Healing' exploring subtle sound worlds with muted chords and gentle finger clicks. Review: Volcov steers the good ship Neroli towards more of that immaculately curated deep gear you know they do so well. The Inside series reaches part three with another heavyweight cast, leading in with the mighty Fred P on the crisp rhythms and considered chord movements of 'Time Well Spent'. Rest Symbol follows up with a powerful strain of synth orchestration which adds a moody intensity to the record, while Resonating creates a raw, seductive beatdown on 'J707' that will satisfy any discerning outboard house fiend. It kicks off with 'Congalizer,' a high-energy track driven by a frantic guitar line and dancefloor-ready loops from The Funk District which create an irresistible vibe. Their aim was to concoct a soundtrack that "would be able to enter the Gelateria spaces as a protagonist." This compilation series is a diverse one with different flavours fused from the DNA of disco, house, Italo and funk. Review: Prolific producer Felipe Gordon rounds off another tremendous 12 months of releases with a first appearance on Nervous Records' 'Nervous Chill' offshoot, a sub-label dedicated to the deeper and jazzier end of the house spectrum. Saxophonist Paul Shapiro guests on both tracks, adding a touch of emotive, eyes-closed expression to the Colombian's typically tasteful, musically rich house tracks. A-side 'Elisa' is beautiful and attractive, with Shapiro jazzin' away above a tasty mix of squelchy acid bass, twinkling pianos, spacey chords and rolling deep house drums. 'Resonant Memories' is a slightly bolder and denser affair, with lower register sax lines wrapping around more heavily layered beats, glassy-eyed synth stabs and immersive chords.

Review: We still mourn the late Phil Asher, so it's great to see someone's still carrying his torch. On this latest release from Neroli, label staple Nathan Haines offers up some formerly unreleased collboarations with the broken beat legend, which he happened to have hoarded prior to the latter's death. The three tracks featured here are nighttime dreamscapes, only tinged with the idiosyncrasies of Asher's production, but which nevertheless epitomise the late great's sound. 'Brother Of Mine' especially does so, with carnival rhythms and blue, rudimentary Rhodes notes underlying its vocal backbone.

Review: Map.ache and Svensol & Bender's Kann imprint has been going string since 2008, putting out a diverse mixture of dancefloor music from some of house and techno's most interesting artists. Once in a while, they like to put out some collaborative works and it's time for the second instalment of their Family Horror compilations. Plenty of fire and new faces on this one, and we're particularly digging Hiver's "Egeo", a cinematic opener with an aqueous sort of feel to it, "Kokobay" by QY and the acidic "Track 6" by Perm. Wild and multi-faced.

Review: Houseworx has been digging deep to collate another fine entry into its Lost Housetracks series. This eighth volume is another treasure trove of highly effective but also nice and characterful cuts that open with the compelling kick drum thuds and dub chords of HMSA's 'Track 3'. Glo My's 'House Por Siempre' brings a little piano chord energy to more heavy low ends and Nicola Brusegan & Carlo Di Roma then up the energy with a nice smooth house groove on 'Chaos In The City.' last but not least us the joyous and uplifting chord work of Pat Lezizmo & Dsitb's 'Sundance' (Sunrise mix). Tasteful tackle for sure.

Out Of Control (LTJ Xperience remix) (8:12)
Lazise (5:20)
Saocraffen (5:26)
Review: Intrallazzi and Dario Piana have been friends and Milanese scene contemporaries since 1981, when they both fell in love with the distinctive Afro-Cosmic sound of local DJ (and later Piana collaborator) Daniel Baldelli. Since then, they have both made records aplenty under a variety of aliases, but this EP on Leng marks their first joint release. The headline attraction is opener (and lead cut) 'Out of Control', a dubbed-out cosmic disco chugger propelled by echo-laden percussion and a deep, low-slung bassline, smothered in psychedelic synth and guitar sounds. Fellow Italian producer LTJ Experience remixes, offering up a stripped-back and acid-flecked interpretation. Elsewhere, 'Lazise' is a TB-303-sporting cosmic shuffler and 'Saocraffen' is a Baldelli-influenced fusion of Afro-cosmic funk and ethereal Balearic sounds.

Waves Of Love (original disco version)
Waves Of Love (Deeper mix)
Review: Italian producer Isoul8 and Detroit bassist Paul Randolph (of Innerzone Orchestra fame) hook up on this rather lush 12" on Japanese imprint Especial. "Stay Stay Stay" is a tribute to Roy Ayers and Don Blackman, with soulful vocals floating over the top of languid, funky bass licks and mellow, twinkling keys. The flipside contains two versions of "Waves Of Love" - with the solid 4/4 thump of the disco version slightly shading it for our money. It was also a favourite in the record box of the late Aaron Carl, and as such the Especial crew have dedicated this release to the much loved producer.

Back Together (Pelati Riviera mix)
M1 Plays House For Me (The Italian Stallion mix)
Review: Black Angus Records founder Marco Sochi AKA DJ Sochi uses the Italian Stallion alias for occasional releases that explore his love of turn-of-the-90s Italian dream house and the more colourful and deep end of the 90s Italo-house spectrum. For the fourth volume in the series, he's flipped the script slightly, joining forces with his Pelati Riveria buddies to rework 'Back Together' - a chunky, nostalgic, trance-inducing peak-time house number piled high with mid-90s synthesiser string stabs, muscular beats and booming bass. He reverts to dream house type with the gorgeous, organ bass-propelled Italo-house colour of 'M1 Plays House For Me', where sparkling piano stabs and kaleidoscopic chords catch the ear.

Jalal Ramdani, Miishu, Ahmed Sosso - "Tolo" (FNX Omar remix) (6:41)
Review: The Moblack Gold series is a tried and true source of high-quality deep house with a sharp, modern finish, and this fourth volume welcomes some fresh names into the fold. Kadosh's 'Never Too Late' is a driving but simultaneously brooding piece for those moments when you want the party to get a little reflective, while the Caiiro remix of Sparrow & Barbossa's 'Amore Profundo' maintains the temperature while amping up the feels with a heart-rending pairing of vocal and strings. Paco De Rosa's 'Mi Amor' is a slender, sexy slice of minimal deep house with some vivid percussive embellishments, and then FNX Omar's remix of Tolo finishes the record off with a dramatic workout revolving around Ahmed Sosso's distinctive vocal.

Review: Freerange is a workhorse of the global deep house underground and it has recently cast itself out on a trip through the different cities of the world. City To City: Johannesburg looks to a country that has long had its own unique and thriving deep house scene and enlists some of its best talents to offer up some fresh sounds. KaySoul's 'Icey Baby' is soulful and sensitive, SculpturedMusic's 'Midnight Talk' has deft pads shimmering over soft kicks, SizLeCaude's 'Far Apart' rides on a nice Kai Alce style bassline and the flip side offers another trio of musical and percussive late night smooches. Lovely stuff.

Review: Planet Orange are making their name with bright and bouncy VA releases, and on their third excursion, the crew behind the fast-rising Planet Orange imprint has decidedly to take us on an interplanetary expedition beyond the stars. Kelper straps into his spacesuit and steps up first, peppering a chunky, retro-futurist deep house groove with synth-marimba stabs and suitably spacey chords, before T Jacques reaches for a Korg K1 organ bassline, shuffling breakbeat blasts, sci-fi bleeps and rubbery bass on 'Spruce Caboose'. Elsewhere, Pete Melba wraps psychedelic acid motifs and star-fall electronics around a bustling house beat on 'El Hombre', before Accented Measures sets us 'Adrift in Space' in the company of starry-eyed bleeps, effects-laden vocal snippets, dubbed-out motifs, chunky drums and elastic synth-bass.

Review: Sole Aspect's fifth release brings together some of deep house's finest with some stylish grooves designed for the club. Chicago's Vick Lavender goes first and brings all 20 years of experience to his gorgeous 'Stratosphere'. Miami-based Electric Pickle resident Puma then offers pad-laced deep house daydream 'Defining Moments' which has a nice sombre feel, and hugely consistent Melchior Sultana then lays down more of his sunset sounds with shuffling drums and melted pads on 'Arcade'. The fast-rising, Brawther-tipped Daniel Chavez then shut down with 'FM Freeez' which is classic Detroit house with a late-night twist.

PDN - "CTNFTT" (Lego Reedit) (5:17)
Review: The third volume in Colpo Grosso's edits series amounts to yet another slinky slice of sensual post-Italo disco sundries. With each original artist and track title on the record respectively lent a three-letter and N-letter abbreviation, we'll leave it to you to piece together the puzzle as regards to whose source material is being reworked here. On this occasion, the hired hands are Massimo Voci, M.B. Funk, Wandevogel and Legowelt, each of whose takes on the various steam-downs and sweat lodgings of the genius genre that is Italo amount to four farther, slammingly sexual condensations of the sound. Our fave has to be Vandevogel's version of 'PRNDLCS', which starts out dramatically downcast before launching into a well-placed implantation of baritone sax and *bonne brisse* vocals.

Review: Italy's Planet Tapes come back with a second sizzling various artist offering that journeys far and wide out into the electronic sphere. Liquid Earth gets the engine going with balmy astral pads and deep space motifs before Primary Perception takes us 'Back To The Old Skool' with some tiny drum programming and nice low slung bass that wants you to party. Two Opposites layer up some heady melodies and crisp tech drums to send you home feeling good.

Review: After originally dropping on 7" in edited form back in early 2022, Sophie Lloyd's wonderful gospel-disco sing-along, featuring righteous lead vocals from Pauline Taylor, finally makes it onto a 12".. The full-length take on 'Angels By My Side' - all rubbery disco bass, sustained organ chords, punchy horns, cut-glass strings and Taylor's awe-inspiring vocals - comes accompanied by two fresh re-rubs from Detroit duo Floorplan (AKA minimal techno originator Robert Hood and his talented daughter Lyric Hood). They first serve up a bouncy, non-stop gospel-house dub full of cut-up vocal snippets, hands-aloft piano stabs and stomping drums, before throwing their arms skywards on a similarly loved-up, full vocal remix.
