Review: French multi-instrumentalist and producer Mezerg (real name Marc Mezergue) is something of a one-off - a synthesizer, drums and theremin-sporting one-man band who has even invented his own unique instrument, a combined keyboard/electronic drum kit known as the "piano boom boom". He's perhaps best-known as a live performer but has received plenty of plaudits for previous releases, most notably 2021 debut LP Chez Mezerg. Vol Retarde de 42 Mn is that album's belated sequel and sees the Frenchman develop his existing trademark sound - a musically mixed-up blend of classic synth sounds, analogue electronics, warm basslines and unfussy beats that variously draws influence from titans of French electronic dance music (Justice, Jean-Michel Jarre etc), electro and, most frequently, colourful nu-disco.

Review: Michelle's latest offering feels like a seamless expression of self that captures moments of quiet introspection and sudden bursts of energy with a rare fluidity. There's a tenderness in the opening moments, the kind that builds a world around you without being too obvious about it. As the EP progresses, the energy ebbs and flows, with her vocal delivery and production pulling you in different directions, offering an unexpected balance between reflective depth and danceable grooves. It's a record that feels carefully crafted yet entirely free-flowing, its moods shifting in a way that keeps you engaged without overstating its intentions. A complex yet accessible work, it feels like the mark of an artist growing into her voice, blending textures and emotions with ease.

East At Dawn (5:18)
East At Dawn (Gilbert remix) (6:27)
Paradox Of Automation (5:24)
Ghosts Of Tomorrow (5:42)
Review: Mihail P's 'Multitudes' EP on Analog Concept is a gem for those who appreciate techno with ambient and emotional undertones, aligning with the subtle artistry of Nuron, John Shima, Derek Carr, CIM and Future Beat Alliance. The opener, 'East At Dawn', sets a delicate tone, weaving beautiful ambient techno melodies with hints of electro. Its graceful synths and deep bass resonate with a sense of introspection, creating a lush atmosphere. Another name in this style that is making waves is the fantastic Gilbert. His remix of 'East At Dawn' shifts gears slightly, infusing an upbeat energy and a more tech-focused rhythm while maintaining the Detroit-inspired warmth of the original. On Side-2, 'Paradox Of Automation' balances gentle beats with an intricate, celestial melody. The track's refined production and harmonious layers lend it an otherworldly quality. The EP closes with 'Ghosts Of Tomorrow', a triumphant, melodic composition that feels both uplifting and ethereal, like a final, hopeful transmission from another realm. 'Multitudes' showcases Mihail P's talent for blending ambient techno with emotive depth. Another winner in his discography.

Machines Breathe (Voigtmann remix) (6:14)
Review: Milion's latest EP on HOME//GRXWN is a sharp, energetic showcase of his evolving talent. Blending the raw power of garage with the dynamic edge of electro, this release channels the spirit of underground dance music while pushing it forward. The A-side track, 'Adventure Time', is a standout, layering genre-defying electro beats with euphoric undertones, creating an irresistible blend that's bound to become a regular in DJ sets. 'DALIA' follows and has already cemented its status as a club favourite, with DJs like Dungeon Meat and Enzo Siragusa spinning it to packed dancefloors. It's easy to see why - the track blends garage grooves with a punchy rhythm that keeps the energy high. The B-side shifts gears with 'Machines Breathe', an intricate composition exploring the emotional resonance of mechanical sounds. Voigtmann delivers a remix that amplifies the original's soul, adding his unmistakable groove and funk, to round off a great EP.

Limo Trax Green

Milion - "Tuin Van Bret" (7:31)
Exonym - "Hagring" (4:49)
Dombee - "Brixton" (6:07)
Wodda - "Dark N Stormy" (5:35)
Review: Limo Trax wind down the tinters and shoot us a knowing look through the Wayfarers, as their latest procurement in slick minimal house and techno blares out the limo stereo. This latest addition to their colours series comes in verdant green, and corrals the talents of Milion, Exonym, Dombee and Wodda, all of whom lay down a clacking sonic technic each. 'Tuin Van Bret' exposes the vibe with beeping chords and an injurious party-starting film dialogue sample, as swarthy, silly excitable funk ensues. 'Hagring' marks the A2 with a "gimme dem" sample and moody swells, while 'Brixton' pays homage to the legendary Lambeth area with a speed garage distributary, reminiscent of Serious Danger's earliest movements in the sound. 'Dark N Stormy' perfects this speedy trend, adding expulsive breaks and oozing licks between the four-by-fours.

There Are Tribes Out There (7:37)
Review: Miller returns with a standout EP on NRV, blending deep, groove-laden beats with genre-defying twists. A1, 'Liquid Realm', is a masterclass in early 2000s Nubreaks nostalgia, with driving breakbeats and modern production flair that takes you back while pushing things forward. On the flip, 'Hydrate' shifts gears into a sleek, futuristic soundscapeicrisp percussion, fluid melodies, and a tight bassline that builds and releases tension effortlessly. B2, 'There Are Tribes Out There', dives into a primal, rhythmic space, layering organic textures with Miller's trademark precision, offering a track that escapes easy classification but feels right at home in a late-night set. Miller's ability to navigate different styles while maintaining a unified sound makes this EP a perfect addition to his growing catalogue.

The track lives up to its name with heavy, pounding rhythms that ripple with an epic intensity, drawing listeners into its brooding atmosphere. The Mingers - "Wake Up" (6:46)
Timmy S - "A Trip To London" (6:30)
Review: Endell Street returns with a strictly limited 10" that features some rare gems that were originally produced back in the early 00s by Timmy S. Plenty of heads will know these have been expensive to cop on the second-hand market but now they have been restored and remastered by Yossi Amoyal in collaboration with Eukahouse's Nils Hess. Deep tech house doesn't get more authentic than this with the slick, driving drums and nocturnal pads of 'Wake Up' and the more percussive darkness of 'A Trip To London' both sounding superb.

Review: Ninja Records looks to build on the success of its first outing with a new outing from Miroloja who are brothers and key players in the Parisian underground with great credits already to their name on Berg Audio, Tzinah Records and OLO RECORDS. Their stripped-back but tight sound is laid bare on opener 'Linkblow' with its warm house kicks and wet clicks soon to make you move. 'Morgan' is speedier with some space-tech vibes and a snappier low-end. Closer 'Krazyteora' then explores a creepy late-night urban landscape with some cyclical drums and synths moving things onwards.

Sonora Desert Edge (The Abyss) (bonus track)
Review: Route 77, the third album from Mirror System, Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy's chillout project, offers a serene sonic journey through spacious, dreamy soundscapes. A mellower counterpart to their work as System 7, Mirror System's music blends soft tech-house rhythms with lush electronics and Hillage's signature guitar. With a travel theme inspired by the vast American Southwest, Route 77 is rich in atmospheric grooves. The album features contributions from The Orb's Alex Paterson, Dan Donovan and Marv Brookes, adding to its laidback yet intricate vibe. Standout moments include reimaginings of Manuel Gottsching's 'Sunrain' and Ry Cooder's 'Paris, Texas', which fit seamlessly into the album's flowing textures. The closing track, 'Sonora Desert Edge (The Abyss)', incorporates a poem by Allen Ginsberg, creating a vivid, immersive auditory experience. Route 77 is an engaging blend of ambient trance and chillout music, perfect for deep relaxation or reflective listening.

Acid Galaxy (Arno remix) (8:09)
Flow (6:11)
Review: Ten years have now passed since Modbox (real name Patrizio Rastelli) launched the vinyl-only Castanea Records imprint, an outlet specialising in minimalistic house and techno. Remarkably, this four-tracker from the man itself narks the label's first - and likely only - release of 2024. He begins strongly with title track 'Cosmic Wind', where echoing synth stabs, gaseous ambient chords and spacey electronics cluster around a crunchy tech-house beat and surprisingly funky bassline. It's basically classical tech-house of the sort you'd have heard in the late 1990s, and that's no bad thing. Elsewhere, we get two takes on 'Acid Galaxy' - Modbox's TB-303-speckled deep tech-house original and a more driving, peak-time-ready Arno interpretation - and the intergalactic, off-kilter excellence of 'Flow'.

Review: The Model brings great form and function to this arresting new EP on long-running French label Partout. It kicks off with 'I Am Always On Your Mind' which has bright, glass melodies and snappy snares that very much get your attention while 'Crossover' is a more frazzled bit of synth-laden techno with sci-fi motifs and withering melodies. 'Six Days Of Heat' is a slower groove with another big focus on the melodies, this time they are rather eerie and unsettling. Last of all is 'Global' with its smeared pads and dusty drum work.

Review: This electrifying release delivers a dark, immersive journey through the realms of sci-fi and subterranean soundscapes. Side-1 opens with 'Intro', a cinematic, otherworldly prelude that sets the tone with eerie atmospherics. It segues into 'Sarcofago', a compelling blend of alien techno and electro, drenched in shadowy, subterranean vibes that create a sense of unease yet intrigue. 'El Ritual' continues the descent, invoking a hypnotic rhythm that feels ceremonial and enigmatic. Side-2 picks up the pace with 'Ocultismo', an uptempo electro banger that combines relentless beats with sharp, futuristic textures. The closing track, 'Puerta Al Inframundo', is a climactic plunge into the underworld, where deep, resonant basslines and haunting melodies evoke a sense of crossing into uncharted sonic dimensions. This record masterfully balances dark energy with driving grooves.

It's rooted in traditional tropes from the 90s and US scenes starting with the kicking, retro flavours of 'Mi Amor' before 'The Bass Theory' brings on, yep, some more heavy bass-driven grooves. Last of all is the more synth-laden 'Killer Fruit' which is a triumph in drum programming that will enliven any crowd.

Review: Ray Mono steps into his third release for Pleasure Zone, effortlessly blending restrained minimalism with immersive textures. Opening with 'Qqqq', the track introduces tight, rolling loops and a pulsing groove that draws the listener into a rhythmical trance. The low-end growl of 'Ssss' carries a deeper emotional weight, its minimal percussion skittering over layered synths, evoking an air of mystery. As the B-side drops, 'Iiii' unfurls with patient precision, luring the listener into a seamless, shifting landscape. 'Pppp' closes out the journey with its stripped-back dub influence, offering space for reflection while keeping the groove firmly rooted.

Mesmerized (7:28)
Mesmerized (acoustic) (3:00)
Review: An exciting blend of minimal tech house and experimental techno only equalled by an emotionally gripping acoustic version on the second side. The track immediately grabs attention with its intricate layers of moody synths and pulsating percussion. Steffen Linck's evocative lyrics float effortlessly over the atmospheric soundscape, balancing vulnerability and groove. It's a track that speaks to deep emotions while maintaining a steady, hypnotic rhythm. On the Side-B, Monolink presents "Mesmerized (Acoustic)', a beautiful reworking that strips away the electronic elements to expose the raw heart of the song. This acoustic version is a more intimate experience, where soulful vocals and acoustic instrumentation take center stage. The result is a tender, thought-provoking reinterpretation that breathes new life into the track, further enhancing its emotional depth. This release shows off Monolink's ability to blend electronic precision with organic emotion.

The vocal mix kicks off with high-energy big room drums, classic house strings, an infectious bassline, and playful telephone samples while Cratebug's remix transforms it into a hypnotic after-hours cut that emphasises dub echoes while retaining the original's essence. On the B-side, Radio Slave reimagines 'Badman' with a low-slung vibe that blends trippy sounds and vocal traces. Review: Batu's Timedance is about as consistently fresh and forward-thinking as electronic labels get right now. Bristol's Daisy Moon is next up to carry the baton and is fresh off a standout house cut on Peach Discs in June. Here she opens with the precise drum rhythms and glitchy percussion of 'Eclipse' while 'Shadow Of Silhouettes' is a shimming, shape shifting arrangement with daubs of synth, frenzied lines, chopped-up vocals and plenty more all vying for your attention. 'The Abyssal Zone' then brings some dubby broken beats to the fore and 'Meadow Rap' flips the script entirely with some lush downtempo.

In his third solo release, Moon presents two impressive tracks that both exemplify his raw production style and maintain a consistent groove while blending deep, dreamy sounds with sophisticated percussion. Review: Three outsize rarities on Mr. G's very own Phoenix G imprint (operating since 1999). 'The Lost Tracks 1' hears the man-myth-legend rise from the mounded ashes of a deep house firestorm, where in classic "vaults" fashion, Mr G aka. Colin McBean presents tunes as though they were known sequels. Even so, 'Narcoticz Pt. 2' hardly recalls an original tune by the same name. It's almost as though there's a hidden universe of sound we're only tantalisingly being let in on... With G's driven but distillate deep house sound on fullest display here again, make sure to cop these muted rarities, as they're RSD exclusives and will surely dematerialise quick.

Review: London label Fourier Transform welcome back Rekab (James Baker) and label debuter Mre for 'Ace High'. 'Armadillos' rolls up its chassis for a serious exercise in minimal weight, reconstituting tuned percussions as it trundles along, while Rekab's 'Always Having Fun' posits an ideal life-mode: a steady, direct current of enjoyment, set to hedonically calculated beats. 'Climbing High' rebates the percussions for a subtle lark's ascent in deep acid, while 'Ace' complementarily descends across cross-rhythmic breaks and harmonies.

The title track, 'Mai Tai', kicks off Side-1 with effortless charm, offering a melodic, laid-back tech house vibe that feels perfect for open-air settings. 'Talei' follows, elevating the mood with its chord-driven, lush textures, embodying the essence of quintessential tech house. Review: First released by Snuff Trax in 2015, but potentially recorded much earlier, 'U Won't C Me' is one of Mystic Bill's most potent cuts - an analogue-rich hybrid Chicago deep house/acid house cut which sounds like Larry Heard jamming with Adonis circa 'No Way Back'. This Nu Groove reissue naturally features the long-serving producer's original mix, the original bonus track 'Like a Dream In The Night' (a moody, low-slung chunk of warehouse-ready, late 80s style Chicago deep house) and two reworks of the title track. Stefan Bratz ups the acid house factor, reaching for driving drums and mind-mangling TB-303 bass, while Jake Savage's 'Acid Re-Rub' is a jacking, sweat-soaked affair smothered in red-raw acid lines, cut-up spoken word snippets and a ghostly melodic motif.

Review: 'Solipsism' opens with sleek, futuristic energy where its infectious groove and sharp percussion that locks dancers into its hypnotic rhythm. It's a shinning example in refined minimal techno, balancing precision with raw club energy. 'Street Lite' follows, evoking the spirit of early 90s UK techno with rolling drums and nostalgic synth textures, transporting listeners straight to a dimly lit warehouse. On Side-2, 'Freeze' shifts into heavier territory, driven by a weighty bassline and pounding rhythms that demand attention. It's a raw and relentless techno cut built for peak-time intensity. Closing the EP, 'Glove Box' leans into new beat influences, layering thick synth stabs and mechanical grooves for a gritty yet infectious finish. Drum-heavy and rich in character, this record is all about the old-school techno feel while keeping things fresh. It's a love letter to the past with both feet firmly on the dancefloor, designed for those who crave deep, rhythmic intensity with a timeless edge.

It is, of course, rather good, with the pair once again offering a collection of retro-futurist workouts that blend early 90s house sounds and late 90s tech-house tropes with plenty of ear-catching samples and agreeable melodic motifs. You'll find plenty of fine fare amongst the five tracks on show, from breakbeat house style opener 'Most Perfect' (where a squelchy bassline, floatation tank synths and eyes-closed vocal snippets catch the ear) and Clav-sporting garage-house shuffler 'Track 3', to the organ-rich MK goes tech-house flex of 'Laurent' and the fiendishly sub-heavy 'Body Body'.

Since only 100 copies were available direct from the producer, it was effectively a private press EP of machine-powered club cuts from his personal archives. 12 years later, he's decided to reissue it and make it available to a wider audience. This is a very good thing indeed, because the material is - to quote a certain fictional broadcaster from Norfolk - top class. Check first redlined EBM-meets-Chicago house opener 'L'apparzione', before submitting to the early Larry Heard style excellence of 'Fuck the Machines'. Over on side B, 'You Know This Groove' is a solid chunk of Rhodes-smothered, Detroit style deep house dustiness, while 'Stay Forever' is a spacey, squelchy and star-gazing slab of intergalactic house futurism.

Review: Portuguese label Bosom Ltd invites us back in with a new EP from Paul Neary that gets deep into some abstract minimal and tech sounds worlds. 'Lemonade' opens up with ghoulish voices and grubby basslines topped with modulated synths and Villalobos style keys. 'Lizard Lounge' is just as much from the underworld with its dark sounds and freaky FX marbling a weird vocal, then 'Hotels & Jam' rides on detuned and off-grid chords, warped beats and underlapping bass. A Leanca remix speed things up but is no less out there.

Review: Paul Neary's 'Lemonade' EP offers four playful minimal tech house cuts that ooze energy and charm. Side-1 kicks off with 'Lemonade', a bass-heavy, minimal groove that's both catchy and irresistible. It's the kind of track that locks listeners in with its infectious rhythm. Following that, 'Lizard Lounge' keeps things slick and techy, delivering a groove that's as smooth as it is hypnotic. On Side-2, 'Hotels & Jam' brings a bouncy, fun-filled tech house vibe, perfect for keeping the energy alive. The remix by Leanca takes things up a notch with a more twisted, playful spin, pushing boundaries while still maintaining the EP's core essence of lighthearted minimalism. Overall, 'Lemonade' is a standout release, filled with memorable grooves and techy finesse that will light up any minimal tech house set. Released on Bosom Ltd Portugal, this record is packed with fun, quirky grooves reminiscent of sets by Ricardo Villalobos and the legendary Paxahau parties during DEMF.

Review: Lisbon veteran Nebulaee makes his debut on Carpet & Snares, delivering four tracks that blend organic arrangements with quirky vocal samples. With a distinctive style that recalls the likes of Spencer Kincy, Nebulaee crafts tracks that balance minimal house vibes with a slightly eerie twist. Walking basslines ground the groove, while nimble percussion adds movement and energy. The harmonies shift from cheerful to creepy, drawing listeners into a playful yet slightly unsettling atmosphere. Every track here feels like a journey, with carefully layered sounds and a mischievous, ever-evolving tone.

Review: Like a Michelin starred chef, Neurotron - an alias you would much more expect to come from the world of drum & bass given its semantics - mixes up just the right amount of serval different ingredients in this classy new EP. There is jazz, deep house, acid, techno, electro, dub and probably more. The opener is a deep one with lovely melodies, 'Alone' is a more club ready sound with smeared pads and acid, 'Hunting' bangs the box in Detroit fashion and 'Woodward' is a blissed out dub house groove that oozes charm.

Review: The Nexus 21 'Mind Machines' album finally sees the light, bringing the shelved UK techno classic to eager fans. Originally recorded in the early 90s, these tracks capture the essence of Detroit-inspired UK techno, fusing raw energy with British flair. Standouts include 'Nexodus' and 'Everything (No Statues),' with Motor City talent Marc Kinchen and Anthony Shakir lending their touch. While only two tracks saw official release back then, this album unearths unreleased gems and alternate mixes, showcasing the duo's groundbreaking sound that influenced both Nexus 21 and their rave-alter ego, Altern 8. A long-awaited landmark.

Review: Picture a utopian twist on Akira, and you might land close to Nick Nikolov's vision for his NKLV project. With a nod to classic house elements, like bright piano riffs, he blends in the finely detailed sound design of IDM and ambient, adding a playful, French touch-inspired groove. Tracks like 'Speak to Me' and 'No More' dive straight into expressive, textured soundscapes, while the title cut 'Inbetween' radiates with serotonin-charged energy. Mixing the quirky beats of Basement Jaxx with KiNK's raw pulse, Nikolov crafts an escape filled with soul, spontaneity and unexpected joy.

Review: The second release from Diggers Society Records features NND, who is renowned for both his compositional talent and his skills as a selector. This EP is a real journey through NND's diverse musical landscapes and his rich musical background. The A-side is defined by dark atmospheres and deep, powerful rhythms. On the B-side, a track inspired by the iconic soundtrack of an '80s cult TV show shines bright and is followed by a celestial production that transports you to otherworldly realms while blending nostalgia with a modern techno touch.

This vocoder-soaked synth extravaganza gets the Dutch touch with remixes by I Venti d'Azzurro Records' own Eddy Mi Ami first up and then and Savino Deejay. Review: Noreen is a cult name for those who know - a producer who had his own unique take on minimal and dropped some real low-key classics. Nearly two decades after its initial release, his album Our Memories of Winter now gets reissued so you can relive its blend f early 2000s electronica with Norken's unique mix of minimal techno, house and British IDM. Featuring all 12 original tracks, plus the inclusion of 'Df23' and 'Flirt', this is the first complete vinyl version of the album. Lee Norris's sound evokes nostalgia and warmth with atmospheric emotional techno. Influenced by luminaries like John Beltran and Autechre, this one remains a real gem.

Review: Following outings on Eudominia and Who is Paula, Carsten Fluck and Lucas Lejeune bring their Not Even Noticed project back to Craigie Knowes. Like their last EP on the reliable Scottish imprint, Beneath The Surface has both eyes firmly fixed on peak-time dancefloors. Our pick of a very strong bunch is opener 'Hidden Ground', where razor-sharp TB-303 acid lines, dreamy chords and misty-eyed female vocal snippets ride a rolling techno groove. The quality level never dips throughout, with the warm but spacey tech-house hypnotism of 'Whopper', the deep acid house hedonism of 'Hibiscus' and the electro-fired supernova that is 'Under Your Radar' (whose acid lines are wonderfully insatiable) all hitting the spot.

Test
Review: This release delivers an electrifying journey into acid and electro techno. 'The Program' opens with an uptempo, busy rhythm that pulses with excitement. Its sci-fi influences are clear, with acid-driven melodies and a compelling sense of urgency that keeps the energy high throughout. On Side-2, 'Test' takes a darker, more subterranean turn. The pounding beat anchors the track, while spacey, atmospheric elements create an immersive environment. The production is tight, with deep, resonant layers that pull the listener further into the track's world. Both tracks showcase a mastery of tension and release.

Review: We didn't see this coming but we're very much delighted it has: the peerless dub techno don Steve O'Sullivan with a full length of past triumphs and unreleased gems on Nina Kraviz's always adventurous Trip label is always going to be worth hearing. The Brit stretches his legs and pulls out all the stops here to cover plenty of ground while reaming true to his signature sound design excellence: bouncy, minimal but strobe-lit cuts like 'Kesk', twisted 90s techno sounds like 'Grun', barely-there IDM-adjacent sounds like 'Groente' and ice cold dub cuts like 'Botala'. A real masterclass.

Review: REPRESS ALERT!: Fletcher and Steve O'Sullivan have often worked or appeared together in the past so it makes sense that the former now invites the latter to be the first person to release on his newly minted and always sure to be worth checking Social Currency imprint. They take the reins together across floor-focussed cuts that are marbled with deep pads and introspective sounds. 'Cold Calling Blues' is warm and airy with smoky vocal sounds and precision dub techno drum loops, 'Midnight At 1:30' hits a little harder but is still zoned out and serene and 'Shatner's Groove' takes on subtle deep space moods with deft pads and spoken word additions.
