Healing Force Project - "Opium"
Review: Acido Records is rightfully gaining something of a cult following akin to the Sex Tags crew it is vaguely affiliated with, though the Berlin based label has its own defined aesthetic approach thanks to the stewardship of founder Dynamo Dreesen. In a week where the label serves up some excellent new produce from the Dresvn pairing of Dynamo Dreesen and SVN, Acido also slip out a second round of their Soundtracks For No Film series. Heavily conceptual in tone and execution, 291out largely contributes this time with a hefty six productions of outer spatial electronics which at times sound befitting of a contemporary Kafka screen adaptation and other times eminently suitable for the dancefloor ("Automobil Club Lugano" in particular) Do check the flip which has Sequencias contributor Healing Force Project excelling with the suitably named "Opium".

3D & Robert Owens - "Known Love" (7:51)
Olivier Giacomotto & Quivver - "Snailblazer" (6:40)
Dave Seaman & Hernan Cattaneo - "Napkin Knowledge" (7:28)
Argia & Jepe - "Salitre" (7:38)
Review: In celebration of their tenth birthday, Selador marks the occasion in style with a four-track collaborative EP, featuring tracks from 3D, Robert Owens, Olivier Giacomotto, Quivver, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, Argia, and Jepe. The opening track, 'Known Love', is a deep, pulasting house tune that feels like an instant classic, perhaps thanks to the soulful, pop-tinged vocals - think LCD soundsystem meets Four Tet. 'Snailblazer', the second track on the EP, takes a much darker turn, with a chugging, EBM-esque feel. Full-bodied and complete with obscured vocals, this is the kind of track to pull out your bag when it's time to really get stuck in. On the B-side, 'Napkin Knowledge' draws on the glistening synths of eurodance, yet still securing the melodies to a grounded bassline and rhythm section. 'Salitre' is the perfect closing track, rising up in a gleaming, ecstatic melody, before delicately returning to ground level. A varied yet firmly cohesive collaborative release - the perfect way for Selador to kick off their 2023 catalogue.

Aatropa & Tephillin - "Bells Jam"
Fabric - "Split Guest"
Herron - "33 Weeks"
Metropolis - "The Great Lake"
Review: After a successful first round that featured the likes of Kassem Mosse alongside Juniper and some lesser known friends of the label, Manchester promoters-turned-imprint Meandyou are back with another various artists release that plumbs further depths around the fringe pools of house and techno. Aatropa & Tephillin deliver the most upfront cut in "Bells Jam", which still lurks in oddball synth flourishes around a chunky thud of kick drum, before Fabric drifts out into ambient bliss. Herron meanwhile plies a long lead-in before blossoming into a dexterous and delicate broken techno formation of the highest order, and then Metropolis cools things back down with a winsome groan of a beatless excursion.

It's Got Me
Minutes Of Funk
Review: 3024's pilfering of West Country talent continues unabated with the rather busy of late Julio Bashmore being swiftly followed by the equally prolific Addison Groove in releasing essential club tackle for Martyn's imprint. Anyone who has indulged in Mr T Williams' recent output for Swamp81 or Tectonic will have an inkling of the current Addison Groove sonic flex, all tightly wound post circa 130bpm 808 patterns, though "It's Got Me" is truly characterised by the disparate sensation of woozy melodic flourishes being diced by the rhythmic swagger. Flipside you get future funk electro odyssey of "Minutes Of Funk" with swathes of purple textures allowed to breath beneath a perma bouncy bass thrust. The midway drop into a bumping house pattern will grab you every time!

Make Um Bounce
Review: In between brief dalliances with Swamp81 and 3024, Addison Groove shows some hometown support with this essential twelve for Pinch's Tectonic imprint. "This Is It" could only come from the sonic palette of Tony Williams, with steppy juke heavy 808 riddims ripping out of the speaker cones at 138bpm amidst a barrage of expertly spliced vocals and rubbery rave bleeps. Amidst the rowdiness, there's a distinct progression to the track which makes it a worthy successor to last year's triumphant "Footcrab". "Make Um Bounce" slips down the tempo scale a notch or two for a more standard 4x4 flex that's brimming with enough bass and rasping percussion to find a place amidst Jackmaster's forthcoming excellent mix for Fabric. Big tip!

Elvira's Katzenfisch (5:40)
Frank's Einsamkeit (5:51)
Review: Audiosex and Hanoben stepped out together on Discos Capablanca back in 2018 with the on-point acidities of Phone Sex, and now they're teaming up once again for this killer clutch of edit tackle for the always interesting Duca Bianco label. Rather than the well-mined stocks of disco and funk that usually get dusted down by edit scavenegers, these two have turned to synth pop and German new wave sounds, coming up with four deep cover, deliciously dishevelled pieces which align perfectly with the brand of acidic club music they make themselves. 'Elvira's Katzenfisch' is a prime case in point - a broad, sweeping slice of synthwave which sounds like it might slide off the reel to reel at any moment, while 'Frank's Einsamkeit' swells into a searing 303 burner for the darkest dungeon dancefloors.

Heavenchord - "Void" (dub) (6:24)
Review: The Greyscale label builds on a fine first EP with a second various artists affair that showcases a fresh take on tech house. Francisco Aguado opens up with 'Vertical Time,' a warm, deep rooted roller for those early evening sets. Giacomo Pellegrino offers a much more heavy and grainy dub techno cit with some deft vocals samples hooking you in. Dubonautik's 'Lost' is a more twisted dub with late night energy and an underlying sense of menace before Heavenchord closes out with the most seductive tune of the lot. It has strident, kicking kicks but drowsy chords and a smoky basement feel that is truly magic.

Chocolate Black Leather (original mix)
Chocolate Black Leather (Brennan Green Acid dub)
Chocolate Black Leather (Brennan Green instrumental remix)
Chocolate Black Leather (Brennan Green beatless version)
Review: Danny Was A Drag King, the delightfully named new record label initiative betwixt Ajello and Hell Yeah launches with a veritable bang! "Chocolate Black Leather" sees the former veterans of the contemporary Italo disco scene team up with it's premier queen, Hard Ton, for a delightfully loud mixture of crisp drums, acidic basslines and schizoid synth arpeggiations - all naturally engulfed in the diva stylings of Hard Ton. Just to add an extra smattering of "you might want to buy this" D.W.D.K. enlisted Brooklyn icon Brennan Green to get busy on the source material - and in a pique of generosity the China Town boss came through with no less than three variants. Whilst all three are tinged with acidic intent to varying degrees it is the full-on wig out of "Acid Dub" that impresses most.

Amir Alexander - "Eyes Open Mouth Shut"
Amir Alexander - "Bittersweet Memories"
Hakim Murphy - "Hazey Plains In Time"
Hakim Murphy - "Chill"
Review: This split EP offers a number of attractions, not least a luscious sound that fixes classic, Detroit style futurism to vintage deep house grooves. There's something particularly galactic about the undulating synths and tight grooves of Hakim Murphy's "Hazey Plains In Time", while the same producer's "Chill" delivers a bubbling journey through warm electronics and tasty melodies. More obviously floor-friendly is Amir Alexander's borderline anthemic "Eyes Open Mouth Shut" - all touchy-feely chords, booming grooves and cascading synth melodies - while the quicker "Bittersweet Memories" evokes images of classic Motor City productions. Impressive stuff, all told.

The Sixteen Steps - "Montgat" (6:46)
His Dirty Secrets - "Structures" (6:15)
Further Reductions - "Another Stranger" (4:56)
Review: BOOM! Our favourites, Cititrax, roll the third editions of Tracks out onto our shelves, and the results are unsurprisingly strong on this excellent various artists comp. It's a mixed bag of skills, as per usual, and the sounds are those of a new NYC, fuelled by a new sort of post-industrial sensibility. Amato Y Mariana open with the tight beats and groove of "Queires Bailar", followed closely by the ominous compositions of the EBM-flavoured "Montgat" from The Sixteen Steps. On the flip, His Dirty Secrets bleeps out some morphed acid on "Structures", and "Another Stranger" from Further Reductions churns out a slow, mild-mannered house experiment with its roots clearly planted in the coldest of waves. Sick.

Review: Passed Out On A Persian Rug might be the best names a label we have heard in a while, as well as being the perfect way to any big weekend. Once this one is lined up on the decks though the party will be far from over - Hayedeh's 'Gol Vajeh' brings exotic vocalisations over deep house beats that get you in the zone. Shahyar GhanbarI's 'Forbidden' is another steamy and enthralling house cut with depth and soulful synth craft. There is playfulness in the chords and funky bass of Shahram Shabparesh's 'To Mitooni' and Hassan Shamaeizadeh's 'Telesm' closes with crisp, breezy tech.

Review: Apiento is back on World Building with another excellently soul infused deep house gem that builds on the much loved "Things You Do For Love" 7". Subtle acid flecked bassline snakes in and out of the crisp drums as buttery smooth, heartbroken lyrics up top get you where it hurts. It's hugely sophisticated and absorbingly understated. Apiento & Tepper's dubbed out version recalls the early work of the one and only Larry Heard before a beatless Padapella closes things out for those who want to really make a dramatic emotional statement pre, mid or post-set.

Review: The French brat pack are back; Around7 and Joss Moog are a couple of Phil Weeks' proteges and they turn in some sweet disco edits here. They just so happen to own the label too. Around7's "Live At Fillmore" sounds so awesome; is it possibly a Moodymann/Norma Jean Bell edit? Moog's "I cant Say No" is some proper disco house deepness. On the flip, they've got some newcomers in the form of Paul Cut with "Heaven" a loopy soul-funk cut up and Hatelate with "The Boogie Show" which is pretty sweet, who did he sample on this one again? Reminiscent of "Working Nights" era Trus'me.

Fresh off dropping the excellent Ulterior Motive LP, Metalheadz switch it back to matters of a 12" nature with this killer double upper cut of moody rollers from crew members Arp XP, Nitri and HLZ on the METHXX series. Up top Arp XP & HLZ collaborate on the prime slab of 97 style D &B that is "Good Old Days" watch out for that ghostly saxophone wedged deep beneath the finely cut drum edits and twisting bass. Hakim Murphy - "ES1"
Review: Philpot's Traxworx series got off to a blinding start earlier this year with the dust down from Roman Rauch and label regular Ike and it looks to be quite the promising endeavour if the line-ups remain as strong as this second duel featuring Arttu and Hakim Murphy. Neither artist really needs a formal introduction here and both are well suited for the floor focused nature of this series. Arttu is first up with "Can't Get Down" a collaboration with Kaye that bounces along with loose and deadly intent - if you liked the Geeeman stuff on Clone you will love this pappy, especially when that sax comes in! On the flip Innerspace Halflifer Hakim Murphy goes for the abstract approach on "ES1" which features some superb drum edits.

Review: Whisky Disco invite a trio of fresh faces to their ever-growing talent troupe for the Disco Darling EP. Andy Ash takes the lead with a loopy, strutting slice of sample-laced house that wouldn't go amiss in a Mark Farina set while Vincenzo De Bull & Halve Soul lower the tempo, invite us on a Balearic picnic and insist we gobble up huge chunks of Sade's "Cherry Pie". Deeper into the EP we find firm label friends Rabo & Snob laying down a velvet bed of Rhodes and vocal harmonies before the final label newcomer JP Source plays a slo-mo game of sample patty-cake with loopy disco mischief.

Review: Ralph Lawsons'20/20 Vision label has done a fine job of evolving and re-emerging after its 20th anniversary and is now serving up cutting edge sounds from fresh new artists once more. It has done plenty of good work in the world of electro recently but here it goes back to deep house from a fine rabble of artists. There is a slick bump n funk to the opener before warped cosmic tones and neon colours define the speedy deep techno of Harrison BDP's 'Dirty Mochyn.' On the flip are some more of those breezy Adam Pits beats and Keisuke's 'OK Taiko' then brings an early, percussive house vibe that takes us back to late 80s Chicago.

Henry Hyde - "More Days Inside" (8:17)
Henry Hyde - "Wading Through" (6:52)
Review: As the London-based NorthSouth Records enter their fifth year they also arrive at their tenth release. After a run of artist EPs NSR returns to the split format to deliver four tracks from two of the label's founding members; Sam Bangura and Harry McCanna. On the North side we hear Sam's first cuts pressed to vinyl for the imprint. Shining with his characteristic sound of bubbling melodies, refined grooves and tied together with a growling low end, 'Jaspe's Groove' and 'Marble Leg' are two driving tunes aimed straight for those facemelting late-night moments.

Heading down to the South side we catch Harry working again under his alias Henry Hyde. 'More Days Inside' starts things off on something of a mellow tip, whilst still being a functional track for the dance floor. 'Wading Through' on the other hand offers up shuffling percussion, spacey synth plucks and one of Harry's signature squirmy, swarming basslines. It's an EP that showcases some of the signature NorthSouth sounds and who better for it to come from than two of its own.

Alex Banks - "Be The One" (feat Elizabeth Bernolz)
Onra - "Blast"
Henrik Schwarz - "We Are Bankrupt"
Brandt Bauer Frick - "Jungle Love" (feat Vic Mensa & Om'mas Keith)
Review: As the title suggests, this sampler is the second 12" shaped accompaniment to Modeselektion 3, perhaps the most diverse compilation yet from the Monkeytown stable. Indeed the four artists featured here are testament to that with Monkeytown newbie Alex Banks lining up with veteran German artist Henrik Schwarz, multi instrumentalist troupe Brandt Brauer Frick and the always excellent Onra. If you are unfamiliar with Banks work, this sampler is a great introduction with his opener "Be The One" a potent synth fest that is worthy of Moderat. The tempo switches up in fine style for Onra's slack jawed future boogie fest "Blast" whilst the flip sees Schwarz indulge his poppier tendencies with "We Are Bankrupt" and Brandt Brauer Frick team up with Vic Mensa & Om'mas Keith for the excellent "Jungle Love".

Review: Friendly Monster is a new label that's so far only released the one record, a three-track various artist 12". They've done the same for their second offering, only giving Bendy & Hristo and Free Association a side of real estate each. Combine elements of New York disco with new wave, no wave, minimal wave, whatever wave, and Bendy & Hristo's own edit to their track "Love Contest" has all the makings of a swooning floor filler. Meanwhile the B-side has more of an Arthur Russell element to it, with flashes of Queen, indie rock, rock and cosmic disco mixed in. Two tough and sensual cuts on the one record.

Review: Compost Disco come through with their finest release to date with Kasper Bjorke indulging his inner boompty to great effect. Along with the recent Super Bacon collaborative EP with Tommy Barford on Mirau, this release suggests Bjorke has plenty to offer when focusing on house and techno productions. "Go Away Song" features the sweet vocal talents of compatriot Danish Josephine Philip atop a stripped back techno bump beefed up by pulsing bass. Some deft 80s style hip house scratches add a element of light hearted musical ingenuity before the drop into a truly evil three note bass stab which is countered by the lucidity of Philip's voice. Additional remixes come in the shape of a Wareika effort that embellishes the minimal snap with an oddball jazz sheen. On the flip Danish newcomers Holtoug add to their growing reputation with a remix that marries the musicality of Noze with an infectious house bump whilst Bjorke's dub version makes you miss Philip's voice.

Review: Tracks from SoYo veterans The Black Dog and UK techno upstart Happa feature on this fifth and final 12? in the Bleep Green Series. Launched in 2012, The Green Series saw Bleep jointly curate a succession of contemporary techno with acclaimed photographer Shaun Bloodworth and design collective GiveUpArt. Launching the series with productions from The Analogue Cops and Karenn, The Green Series has maintained a focus on the Berlin school of techno with subsequent editions featuring music from Cosmin TRG, Lucy, Steffi and Objekt. Although there was no initial hint that The Green Series was a limited affair, this fifth edition puts the series to bed and features two distinct generations of UK techno in The Black Dog and Happa. Despite the difference in age and experience, both sides of BLP-GRN 005 edge the listener into the darker realms of techno, with Happa continuing to display a penchant for the rougher industrial sounds on "Red Place".

Review: Lempuyang's third offering is an outstanding split release between Steve O'Sullivan & Hydergine, label bosses for Mosaic/Bluetrain & Ranges. In 'Binary Riddim' Steve delivers a two-part dub track spanning >13 minutes, seriously heavy in the low end; melancholy strings in the first half, progressing to outright menacing chord stabs in the latter. A versatile track offering something for both warm-up and the dancefloor. Complimenting on the flip are 'Mystic Light' and 'Lunar Eclipse' from Hydergine. Deep, dubby atmospherics meander over a weighty 909 kick on B1. Subtle minimalism a la Terrence Dixon, pitched down on B2. Essential release!

John Beltran - "Return To Nightfall"
Review: Dutch label Delsin's 100th release celebrations continue, albeit in a typically understated fashion, on this fifth instalment. BNJMN's beautiful but brief opener "Dive" sets the scene for the release as does the dreamy but serene "Radio's Mutterings" by Herva. While the pace picks up on Delta Funktionen's "Petrol", a fusion of robust broken beats and dreamy chords, the overall tone here is mellow and melodic. This is audible on Bleak's "Keep Me Close", where dubbed out drums and a trancey bass prevail, and on the standout track from John Beltran. The US producer may be known primarily for his home-listening sounds, but on "Return to Nightfall" he copper-fastens his dreamy, melodic textures to a pulsing, hypnotic groove.

And then it was put to one side as the label focused efforts on full artist releases for the most part. 2015 has already seen the label issue some fine material from Laguna Ladies and Your Place Is Next, we now seen the return of Backyard Impressions lead by Axel Boman! The tat-heavy Studio Barnhus man "Has Something Bad On My Mind" apparently and that manifests in a clipped blues-infused house track hoe down. The big man's 'Transformation' is a smooth and chord-laced house roller that has a more reflective vibe than his usual party-starting offerings. Atlanta don Kai Alce's 'Love Exists' is a heartfelt house romance then the long-time partnership of Owen Jay & Melchior Sultana douse us in star-gazing chords on 'Soul Expression' that leave you feeling refreshed. Hector Ram's 'Morning Sun Vibes' then uplifts with beautifully gentle piano chords.

Review: Super Spicy Records continues its run with great releases, with this second instalment of the Super Spicy Recipe proving a great compilation with big names of the disco scene rubbing shoulders with some super talented newcomers. On A1, we have Boogietraxx and Monsieur Van Pratt teaming up for the fantastic 'Sigueme', that brings a Latin flavour to the table, followed on A2 by Mexican disco master Hotmood and Italian star Gledd combining their superpowers to bring the maximum jazz spice to the recipe via 'I've Got Jazz'. On the flip, Greek edit master C. Da Afro salts this dish with some 'Ultrafunk', while last but not least, we have French duo Djeko & K'You applying some extra spice with 'Money Don't Spend Me'.

Saturday
Review: Despite his young years, Alex Ridha now stands as highly respected member of the electronic community - a go-to man if you will - and here he teams up with fellow Berliner Housemeister, part of his ever expanding label's roster. An insistent kick-snare combo builds up "Shizzo" with some subtle almost-Prodigy style crunchiness to the synths which rise and distort almost beyond control until they fall back into a dark sweat-drenched 3am groove. The abrasive synths coupled with the white noise builds mark this as a halfway house between the electro house BN is known for and Chirs Liebing style stadium techno. This shares the A Side with "nBaxx", with sparse ping pong percussion twisted around a broken beat, occasional rave stabes and cleverly chopped female vox. "Saturday" greedily hogs the whole flipside, with Housemesiter and Ridha opting for a stripped back Chicago house style vibe endowed with quirky bleeps, squeaks and sonic squiggles.

Review: Dirt Crew's popular Deep Love series returns for a fifteenth time, with another all-star cast of label favourites and special guests providing a quintet of smooch-friendly deep house treats. Brame & Hamo kick things off with the twinkling pianos, soft focus vocal samples and jazz-flecked beats of "Triple Treat", before Nachtbraker pushes the acid bass up to 11 on the cosmic rumble of "Catch Up". Homework's "Pliester" is a warm and woozy delight full of blissful electronic pianos and US garage influenced chords, while Voyeur impresses with the bumpin', jazz-flecked deep house soul of "The Long Way Home". It's Local Talk regular Kyodai who steals the show, too, with the loopy, off-kilter shuffle of "Tleflicht".

Review: French Pedro Winter aka Busy P is the former manager of Daft Punk, current manager of Justice and many other electro acts, label head at Ed Banger and still active producer. Here he presents his first new music under this moniker in some four years over a pair of 12"s. The first one, 'Track Of Time' is made with the talents of Haich Ber Na and Shay Lia. It is a prime electro house cut of the sort he has dealt in his whole career. Boosting the package are three remixes courtesy of the legendary Masters At Work aka Kenny Dope and Louis Vega.

Review: When you need to get that massive and heaving tech house sound of Summer on The White Isle, you best look no further than Gruuv, Saved or indeed Material Series. Mihalis Safras' esteemed imprint now serves up Leeds up and comer Josh Butler (with Hauswerks) on "The Horn"; a huge and rolling effort which chugs away energetically with all the bump, shuffle and roll you need. "The Horn (dub)" like its namesake would suggest; goes for more of a hard and dubby techno rendition for fans of the Fachwerk/Colombage sound. On the flip "The Hottest Sound" gets back to the real business you were expecting; this one's a right party starter with sunny, hands in the air, party vibes rocking' out stylishly and diva vocals. Finally "Time Creeper" is druggy, peak time business with booming bass and dubby elements and all topped off with a huge drop to get those headrushes in full effect

The Candy Dealers - "Train Of Thoughts" (6:13)

Jevne - "Moderize" (Asad Rizvi remix) (7:15)
Review: Native Soul Recordings has been around a long old time in dance music terms and now it looks back over some of its finest works with this first in a new series of Best Of comps. Music writer Harold Heath is first up with 'Slipstream,' an effortless smooth late-night house cut with introspective chords and silky pads bringing real depth. The Candy Dealers get more lithe and elastic with the spraying bass and jumbled percussive house of 'Train Of Thought' and last of all, Asad Rizvi remixes Jevne's 'Moderize' with a funky little bassline and chord vamps that keep you on edge. A tasteful package of timeless house grooves.

Review: Munich's Public Possession keep on with their new wave Balearic aesthetic ever so nicely. This time by getting some Aussie larrikins on board. First up is Carpentaria aka Sydney's Tamas Jones and Paul Harmon. "Gadget Messiah" with its infectious bassline, creepy but catchy operatic vocals equally startling synth horns that somehow grow on you, a lot! Next is "Der Inder" with its epic analogue synth arpeggio and lush strings sounding rather reminiscent of an eighties film score. On the flip there's Hysteric, getting all Italo on us with its dark vibes and that gritty EBM style bassline on "Arabian 1" with as the title suggests: some exotic instrumentation floating on top of it all. The seductive vocals of "Arabian 2" and its intense strings workout is pretty killer too..

After their last track together "Real Juice" & the best track "The Acid", they delivery a solid EP with 2 funky tracks directly in line with their influences. Maybe "Sorry James" is sample from a disco classic (find it!) used by Sneak on Strictly! Still, sub-bassline & vocoder voices here, Chris & Hector have done a remix themselves for this EP! Minority dub like old Frisco track with perfect drums!

Cheyenne's Comin' - "Come Back To Me"
Hanson - "Take Me To Your Home"
Review: Blackcat repress this 2009 45" and its spread remains as broad and beautiful as it did five years ago. "Come Back To Me" takes us back to 1976 as Native American soul girl Cheyenne's rich, gut-driven delivery tops a seriously tight funk cake that's flavoured with blistering horns and crisp guitars. "Take Me To Your Home" takes us even further back to 1973. Taken from their debut album Now Hear This, it's a sparkling, jazz-tinted psychedelic slice that harbours some seriously warm keys. Guaranteed to remain broad and beautiful for a long, long time to come. Grab it while you can.

Adam Collins - "I Can Not Forget"
Darren Harris - "Pulsar"
Hinode - "Till 9 AM"
Review: The Low Money Music Love imprint marks its third release with a trio of artists who appreciate the more melodic, warm end of the tech house conundrum, each offering up a unique take on smooth and seductive late night jams. Adam Collins is up first, and his "I Can Not Forget" comes on with a touch of Peter Kruder earthiness in its live drum sounds, while the vocal makes sure it's a track that commands attention. Darren Harris takes a more gutsy approach with the chunky bass ripples and weighty keys of "Pulsar" coming on all Glenn Underground, before Hinode ups the tempo with a taut but equally deep box jam peppered with hypnotic synth lines.

Combo Guarajeo - "Alamo" (2:08)
Hermanos Vargas - "Oye Mulata" (3:23)
Review: For their latest release, Mexican reissue specialists Discodelic take us back to Alajuela, Costa Rica, in the mid 1970s, and the sweltering, cross-cultural fusion works of the Vargas brothers and their short-loved Combo Guarajeo. Our pick of an extremely strong pair is A-side 'Alamo', a sweet and jangling take on Latin funk blended with distinctive Guaguanco and psychedelic soul influences. It's humid, colourful and classy, and original copies of the record it first featured on are almost impossible to find. There's a more straightforward, central American take on Afro-Cuban music on side B, which we think - but have yet to confirm - has never previously been released. It, too, is a treat for the ears.

Conjunto Media Luna/Mumbia Y Sus Candelosos - "Bogotokio" (feat Hydro As BNJ) (3:20)
Mumbia Y Sus Candelosos/Conjunto Media Luna - "Cumbia Teriyaki" (3:30)
Review: Conjunto Medialuna's latest album on Little Beat More is a direct trip to the heart of Bogota's rich cumbia scene. The record blends traditional rhythms with psychedelic influences driven by the Colombian accordion and ecstatic percussion that is so strongly associated with this style. These are two of the jams from it, but frankly you should also check out the full LP. It's a tribute to the guacharaca and the lively street parrandas where each song explores new interpretations of classic sounds. Featuring collaborations with N. Hardem, Mismo Perro, Son Rompe Pera, MC Hydro and Japanese-Latin percussionist Muupy, Noches de Medialuna, it transcends cultural boundaries and joins the dots between traditional and modern urban Latin music which is now so hugely popular around the world.

Review: PRSPCT Recordings proudly presents the "Future Filth EP". This is a very strong double pack loaded with the rawest drum & bass around. The EP kicks off with a monstrous collaboration between Counterstrike and Eye-D entitled "The Grind". A monster filled with filth that makes you want to grind your teeth on the streets. On the flip Catacomb unleashes "Gut Wrench" - a nasty futuristic crawler with an actual gut-wrenching bassline powered by running hard-edged catabeats. "Last Call" is Limewax at his best. Amazing edits, creepy basslines, mental subs and complete darkness. Finishing off the EP is "Joshua's War". This is pure filthy Dutch tech created in the Goes-Noord studios by PRSPCT family members Eye-D and Hidden. Support comes from Audio, Evol Intent, Tech Itch, Dylan, John B, Black Sun Empire and more.

Review: The team behind upstart imprint De La Groove has done a fine job on this compilation style extravaganza, which features tracks from an impressive selection of hotly tipped producers. Highlights include the bouncy, shirts-off loop-disco of Cody Currie's "ACE, At The Point of Collapse", the super-groovy, jazz-flecked deep house warmth of Demuir's "Let's Get In It", the effervescent sweetness of Black Loops' summery roller "French Affair", and the fluttering flute solos of Hotmood's goodtime jazz-funk revision "Voyage To The Onda". The purest expression of jazzy, smoky deep house is provided by COEO, whose clarinet-sporting "Azzurro" is probably our pick of a very strong bunch.
