Tommy Vicari Jnr - "Because You Can't See Dreams In The Light" (5:59)
Tommy Vicari Jnr - "L I W F U" (6:30)
Review: It's been a while since the Albion stable graced our platters, but they're back in style with more of that on-point house music voodoo for the heat of the night. This single is a vessel for the various sides of Tommi Vicari Jr, who rolls out his Czevski alias to deliver a bruising remix of "57 Hertz" by 76-79. It's a reverb-soaked, dubbed out affair with a rock solid rhythm section and plenty of trippy FX tweaking on top. On the flip it's a different story with a similar feeling as we get the straight up Tommi Vicari Jr material in the shape of two killer tracks crafted for transcendental moments of dancefloor hypnosis.

Acasual - "Her"
Tominori Hosoya - "Thinking Of The Days"
Kiddmisha & Apoena - "Dancin"
Jonno & Tommo - "Mystic Feelings"
Review: The latest offering on Owen Jay's Batti Batti label features a cast of characters doing different but equally excellent things within the realm of deep house. Acasual is up first, presenting a reflective tour through lingering chords and swirling pads perfect for rainy spring days, while Tominori Hosoya goes one further with the soul-stirring ambience of "Thinking Of The Days". Kiddmisha & Apoena set light to the B-side with the restrained but utterly on-point depth charge "Dancin", and then Jonno & Tommo round the record out with the sultry "Mystic Feelings", making this a complete package of high grade house music from the heart.

Adesse - "Baayi"
Truss - "Redbrook"
Massimo Di Lena - "You Better Hear"
Review: The ever-correct Prime Numbers series is still going strong, this time bringing together a thoroughly eclectic range of producers to lay down some solid club fodder. Adesse adopts the tenderest approach, bringing a soft African lilt to a subtle arrangement of light drums and poignant chords with the whole A side to drape a deep house opus over. Truss is certainly in no mood to chill on "Redbrook", going for a big room techno flavour that favours rigid beats, acid parps and epic swathes of organ. Massimo Di Lena is on a far more twitchy tip, with a snagging assortment of percussion and some woozy synths that leave one feeling wonderfully dizzy.

Taelue - "Liberate" (7:20)
Afrikan Sciences - "Bass Reeves" (4:22)
Review: Deep house might not be getting the headlines it did a few years ago, but that actually means those who jumped on the hype train have all alighted once again and now only those truly devoted to the form remain. That means we get high quality EPs like this one from Visions Inc. Aleqs Notal takes us on a spiritual trip littered with toms and jazz-chords to kick things off before Meftah gets more experimental with a broken beat, tripped out keys and rubbery bass all sinking you into a state of trance. For those who like it more straight up, Taelue obliges, and as with all Afrikan Sciences tunes, the closer is a masterfully deep concoction.

Chicago Thank You
Waus Music
Review: Tom Trago continues to channel the speaker wobbles of nearby Trouw on the latest edition of his 26 track Alfabet project done in conjunction with Rednose Distrikt's Steven de Peven. Much like A/B the debut Alfabet release, the focus here is on dusted body music that pays homage to the home of house - Chicago! This is clearly most apparent on "Chicago Thank You" with a deliciously off kilter thump the centre piece to a rising groove of frosted textures and hushed vocal urges which builds towards a mid point swerve into key heavy funk. Demonstrating the project is all about variety, the flip brings the urgent drama of "Waus Music" with the familiar 'house music all night long' refrain submerged deep in an epic 10 minute arrangement primed for the darker, dingier, sweatier basement spaces out there. Just wait for those raw kicks to surface. Big tip!

Review: Voice Notes is a new imprint run by London underground veteran Toby Tobias with Alphonse. A five track various artist EP, Voice Notes 002 is a time-honoured memorial for its sister label London Housing Trust, that they shut down a few years ago after 10 releases. Featuring tracks by label boss Tobias who delivers some emotive electro on 'Streets Of Gold', his evil twin Alphonse on the UK flava of 'Rujac', plus introducing Dance with the dub techno deconstruction of 'Amber', Rodney Bennett with the classic Stateside deep house of 'Palm Sunday' and Pyramids of Space with the downbeat IDM journey 'Quantis'.

Libino (6:43)
Be Heard (7:22)
Enderman (7:34)
Review: No Art Red is a newly established sub label that comes through with the goods here thanks to a fine collaborative effort from Anotr and Toman. Both of them know how to craft a catchy minimal tune and have done so plenty of times, often topping digital charts as a result. The four bombs they cook up here are nice and stylish, with 'Time' layering jazzy chords and lingering pads over shuffling and deep beats. There is a little more height and bouncy to 'Libino' but it is just as smooth. Things do shift up a gear on the flip, when the vibe gets more sleek and techno on 'Be Heard' and the punchy 'Enderman.'

The Cool-Notes - "Natural Energy" (5:07)
Ilija Rudman - "Dub 4 Love" (Secret Weapon mix) (5:59)
Review: This third volume of instrumentals continues the faultless Isle of Jura label's deep dive into dub versions and beyond. Side one takes in references from UK street soul and reggae and features two late-'80s tracks by Howard Hill with machine-led rhythms, rudeboy reggae skank and soulful pads. Protek's 'I Love to Dance With You' is a proto-house gem featured in a Jura Soundsystem mix and here it gets a loving re-edit by The Nightlark. Side B includes an instrumental-driven track with spacey FX from The Cool Notes' and Ilija Rudman's 'Dub 4 Love' which is a knowing nod to acid house's golden era.

Andrew Ashong & Theo Parrish - "Flowers" (8:55)
Andrew Ashong - "Take It Slow" (7:11)
Andrew Ashong - "The Way She Moves" (short version) (5:21)
Review: At first glance, the pairing of Forest Hill resident Andrew Ashong and Sound Signature boss Theo Parrish would seem strange. But the duo have worked together previously with the Ghanaian born vocalist (and supposed owner of a vinyl collection that would make most record shops look like a car boot sale) lending his soulful tones to Parrish's excellent nine minute plus translation of the Hot Chip and Spiritualised affiliated About Group. Whereas that collaboration was more about Ashong's voice being just one element of a production that was undoubtedly Parrish, the three tracks present on the Flowers EP look to showcase what a talent the Londoner is. Those trademark dust filled stacatto rhythms are present in the opening title track, but they never swamp Ashong's killer vocal delivery, while "Take It Slow" is bonafide D funk of the highest order. After the brutal, divisive nature of Theo's kung fu experimentalism on the Any Other Styles EP, these three tracks show him in a wholly new light and hopefully Parrish and Ashong will be making much more music together.

Strange Visitors (10:13)
Motion Of Attraction (7:40)
The Sacred Smoke (5:53)
Review: As Burek correctly note on their press release for this latest 12", we have become accustomed to expecting the unexpected from Deepblak man Aybee but still this collection of productions as The Bazile Republic is something special. Strange Visitor is the first of several planned releases themed around the story of a strange island, a celestial visitor, and mysterious doctor, and it will be interesting to see how Aybee develops this narrative. With just the three tracks to focus on for now, it's best to judge The Bazile Republic on it's musical merits and Aybee is on inspired form as ever. Few can match him when it comes to bending house music into compelling new shapes and "The Sacred Smoke" is a quite wonderful highlight.

Samo DJ + Tzusing - "Hollabackboi" (3:31)
Review: Munich nu-balearic crew Public Possession broaden their horizons beyond said sensibilities, but instead venture further into oddball groove territory; in this case it's Sweden. First up Born Free main man Samo DJ delivers the low slung funk groove of "Triad Board Meeting" (sounding like some creepy, old midi file.. yet not altogether unpleasant) while Baba Stilz delivers some of the weirdest deep house you'll hear this year on on "Pacific Times" and "Beirut" respectively. But they save the best for last on the explosive collaboration between Samo and Cititrax troublemaker Tzusing on "Hollabackboi", a smashing, pop-inflected curveball that'll flip your mind.

Review: No matter your particular preference in the deep house world, this various artists' outing from Q1E2 Recordings is sure to have something for you. Mike Riveria & Marco Ohboy, for example, tap into an early sound on 'Euphoria' with its big, brash piano stabs and whistles, while A Soft Mist Production keeps it all cuddly and deep with languid chords draped over gentle drums on 'Upside Down Rainbows.' DatSIM brings in some space-tech vibes for a deft rhythm and neon infused sound on 'Influx' and The Rabbit Hole's 'Tail Groove' has a mad double bass sound jumping about beneath frantic jungle breaks.

Maximiljan - "Break FM" (5:58)
Review: Tobias Holzel and Daniel Napolitano's Rough stable cook up another special vinyl only V/A ensemble and the results are every bit as delicious as you'd expect. Sinnmusik's Georgi Barrel takes the first bite with a chugging Theo Parrish style groove washed in minor key mysticism. Dub Jamz continue their Tuff Jam mission with the UKG 4x4 flavoured "Pushin'" while Thomas strips us right back to the root notes with a jazzy heads-down odyssey. Finally Rough's latest family member Maximilijan continues to prove his position with a reflective, piano tinkling groove that blushes with raw breakbeat charm. A cut above.

Crazy (Manoo & Francois A main mix)
Crazy (Manoo & Francois A Deep Journey mix)
Crazy (Charles Webster Slightly Slower mix)
Review: Deep soulful house record "Crazy" was originally released in the summer of 2010 garnering high critique all round. It's back again in its final stage of evolution, progression and reinterpretation with three new remixes from Manoo & Francois and Charles Webster. Manoo & Francois offer a main and deep mix, each as expertly executed as the other with contrasting styles. The main mix allows the sultry vocals to shine as a Balearic beat moves elegantly behind. "Deep Journey" initially focuses on the percussive and metallic drum rhythms, but slow glittering piano keys come forward to take centre stage, the down trodden lyrical style simply encouraging its beauty. "Crazy" gets a soulful and aurally decadent make over from Webster; poignant, moving and engaging it's a fitting final tribute to the original.

Never Saw You Coming (DJ Spinna Galactic Soul vocal mix)
Never Saw You Coming (Franck Roger vocal mix)
Review: A debut on Seasons Limited for Black Coffee, the South African house don who was one of the early success stories of the Red Bull Music Academy. This one's gonna get attention thanks to the presence of a bumping remix from premier US producer DJ Spinna, but that's not to shift the focus from the original version of "Never Saw You Coming", which lays down a simmering soulful emotive house groove that's the perfect accompaniment to vocalist Tsepo's haunting refrain. Spinna's Galactic Soul Mix lifts the whole track towards the sky, flushing the rhythm with soaring synth patterns that wash excellently over the vocals and raw percussive thrust. Veteran Parisian DJ Frank Rodger hogs the B Side with a gloriously clopping refix that's driven by infectious panned synth work.

Eythl & Flori - "Tanqueray"
Review: Formed of music Freerange physically lost forever in the Sony Music warehouse that burned to the ground during last year's riots, the Out Of The Ashes 5LP boxset did a remarkable job of representing the 150 release strong back catalogue and it made for little surprise that it swiftly sold out. Those Freerange fans not counted amongst the 250 lucky owners of that boxset can find solace in the label's decision to release those five plates individually, commencing with this triple hitter from Blackjoy, Tony Lionni and Ethyl & Flori. A 12" that perfectly encapsulates the diverse house sounds to found on Freerange, Blackjoy's infectiously bumping disco houser "Untitled" lines up on the A Side, while the flip has the previously digital only Deetron take on Lionni classic "Precious" battling for your affections with Ethyl & Flori at their swinging best with "Tanqueray".

There's something of the aesthetic to The Legend Of Gelert that brings to mind those North Yorkshire pranksters. Review: You'd expect a collaboration between Columbia-based fusionist Bosq, Ibibio Sound System's horn section and vocalist Kaleta to be pretty darn good, and 'Song For Ehi' most certainly is. Inspired by a combination of classic Edo-funk, Afro-disco and reggae disco, the A-side original version delivers a near perfect mix of timbales-sporting dub disco grooves, reverb-laden lead vocals, Afro-funk guitar licks, Afrobeat-esque organ licks and punchy horns. The track's inherent dubbiness is further explored on the flipside revision, which adds extra layers of percussion and the kind of breathless dancefloor weight that marks out the greatest dub disco workouts. In a word: essential!

It is Brine who kicks off with spraying acid synths and clicking beats that are deep but impactful. Daughters & Sons then sink into a lush and dreamy Italo-house reverie and Manuold brings some prickly beats and old school acid to his lo-fi house. The smoky and basement styled house continues on the reverse but it is Glove Hands who steals the show with a dreamy downtempo lullaby for late night lovers.

Review: Scott Fraser and Timothy J Fairplay's Crimes Of The Future label has had quite the banner year, ushering in various projects from the pair as well as seeking out like-minded contemporaries such as Perseus Traxx. The latest Crimes of the Future release introduces Bulb, another project bearing the label founder's finger prints along with a high profile third colluder in one William Burnett. Apparently laid down at WT Records HQ in the spring of 2014 whilst Fairplay and Fraser were committing Crimes in NYC, Bulb is a bold offering from the trio with two extended dancefloor workouts taking a side each. "Light It Up" pairs ghetto techno breaks with something from wayward Kosmiche studio experiments in deepest Germany, whilst "Dimmer Switch" plunges into a world of psychedelia and cavernous cave dwellings thanks to some dark ambient synthesis and stabbing drums.

Review: Oh yes, we love it when Theo represses some of his most sought after tracks and this one is particularly well-timed. Leron Carson is still an unknown figure, a kid who used to make viciously raw and futuristic techno tracks in the late 1980's! "China Trax", alongside the rest of his tracks on a different Sound Signature double 12", is totally ahead of its time and if it was truly made in 1987 then it is nothing short of amazing. Of course, it's not just the year it was made in that's interesting but also the fact that it's music without an age, able to be appreciated by any generation of techno freaks. Theo's own "Insane Asylum" on the flipside is also pretty monumental; rigged beats, off-kilter grooves and that familiar spontaneity so heavily associated to the label.

The original has been a key part of many of the best DJs' record bags for decades and now it gets a contemporary twist. Chandler brings his signature soulful keys and pounding kick drums - all using the same hardware that was used on the original, we're told, while singer-songwriter Troy Denari adds his new vocals to the track. Their innovative 'Jazz Was Dancing' has a monologue about jazz over jazzy keys and live-sounding jazz drums so in a word, it's jazzy. Saison adds some more bumping drums and swinging grooves to their remix and on the flip, Japan's Yuichi Inoue offers a deep house sound that also explores jazz, but in a more seductive way on 'A Night In The Room.' Sebb Junior's 'As One' is last up and slows things down with a more sensuous late-night sound full of heart.

The Willers Brothers - "Don't Slip" (7:01)
Review: Since the We_r House label appears to be jointly run by Berliners the Willers Brothers and Cinthie, it seems fitting that both artists make telling contributions to the imrpint's second 12". Cinthie handles side A, serving up both the early Morning Detroit techno hypnotism of "Control" and the chunky and tactile, U.S style deep house bump of "Palm Trees in Wedding". The Willers Brothers' "Goes On and On" offers a return to the locked-in dancefloor hypnotism that marks out Cinthie's EP opener, albeit with a few more dreamy melodic elements to entice the deep house heads, before those tuneful, warm and atmospheric vibes are further explored on the skipping New Jersey vibes of closer "Don't Slip".

Brian Harden - "String Vibe"
Sean Deason - "Beautiful 1"
Review: D3 Recordings offshoot D3 Elements is only three releases deep, but already their releases are reaching "must check" status. Following their recent release of a superb EP from US deep house veteran Brian Harden, the Paris-based imprint offers up something a little different - an EP of gorgeously deep and melodic flavours that joins the dots between head-nodding instrumental hip-hop and floor-friendly 4/4 fare. There are plenty of surprises, too, including techno stalwart Terrence Parker delivering a flute-heavy downtempo head-nodder, some gorgeous beatdown from Detroiter Mike Clark, and a thrillingly string-laden chunk of deep house bliss from the aforementioned Harden. Recommended.

Mental Remedy - "Noi" (The Scratch Piano mix) (8:47)
The Bayara Citizens - "Kulimba" (3:04)
Residue - "Eno" (Under The Influence mix) (11:06)
Review: Joaquin 'Joe' Clausell's Manifestation project started life as a CD featuring early and work-in-progress versions of some of the New York based DJ/producer's most inspiring and intriguing tracks. Since then, he's delivered a couple of coloured vinyl EPs featuring extended takes on these tracks. There's much to enjoy on this third (and likely final) chapter in the series. First up is a near 12-minute version of Mental Remedy's spiritual house gem 'Noi', where expansive, improvised piano solos twinkle away atop a lo-fi drum machine rhythm and starry synthesizer chords. It's followed by the kalimba and Marimba-heavy delights of The Bayara Citizens' blissful 'Kulimba', while side two boasts the weighty, dense, sweaty and insanely percussive 'Under The Influence' mix of Residue's 'Eno'.

The Bayara Citizens - "Elektrik Afrika" (Talking Drum demo) (5:54)
Review: There is something of an irony to the name Joaquin Joe Claussell has given this new Manifestations series on his own Sacred Rhythm label. Why? Well he is a master of long form remixes, tunes that go on for ten-minutes plus and take you on involving trips that at least seem never-ending. Anyway, Long Versions EP 1 it is, and a fine one it is too. There are jubilant carnival house sounds packed with percussion from Mental Remedy, Kalimba showcases that take you deep into a tropical jungle from The Bayara Citizens and more airy, heady deep house from Alejate and afro-drumming excellence on a second tune from The Bayara Citizens.

Forest Electrik - "Circuitry Haywire" (3:25)
Review: Joe Claussell's mythical Sacred Rhythm has to be without a doubt one of the best and most reliable house labels around, and having a listen back through its catalogue immediately made us think that this dude was doing outsider house before the term house had even been coined - that's right, hear this! Residual Three is Joe stepping up under different monikers, first as Teenage Music with the loose, vocal-driven house amalgam that is "The Bargain", followed by "Freedum" on his Forest Elektrik name - a bouncy, synth-heavy dance experimentation - and a completely distorted, near beatless jam under the same name, entitled "Circuitry Haywire". Dopeness embodied.

Review: The eighth release on Sccucci Manucci sees the imprint pack a hefty eight productions that traverse various house sounds from around the world onto two slabs of handstamped wax. From Coeo's bouncy and vocal track through to Mella Dee's dark and distinctively UK-centric track the label has tried to explore the sheer wealth of production talent on offer at the moment.

Review: Set phasers to smooth and take another starry-eyed trip into the finest contemporary deep house on the market, as deepArtSounds return with another refined and elegant VA release. Cosmic Twirl and Reekee open the A side up with the pattering percs and jazzy leads of 'Hope', while Owen Jay offers up something uptempo with a little Latin heat in its joints. Trans Of Life keep things light and airy with gorgeous piano cascading over soaring string pads on 'Shhh' and Sofa Talk offer up a heavy dose of neo-soul funk for all those who carry a torch for classic West London broken beat.

Review: 20/20 Vision and Crazy P continue their long and fruitful relationship with a fourth volume of carefully curated and super-fresh new cuts as part of this fine ongoing series. Scandi-disco don Ray Man opens up with typically lush cosmic melodies and loose-limed nu-disco beats with more than a hint of funk. Tigerbalm then heads into a tropical oasis with 'Cosmic Union' (feat Joy Tyson) which has Afro rhythms and steamy vocals bringing the heat. Ruf Dug shows his multi-genre chops again with 'Vape Quarter Rhythm' which is part proto-house cut and part dreamy Italo bliss out with rave whistles and hands-in-the-air chords. Ibiza's Tuccillo closes out with one of his signature Balearic gems in 'Siroco', which is as breezy and carefree as cocktails by the sea at sundown.

Creative Swing Alliance - "In My Arms"
Thrilogy - "Arctic"
Review: Late last year the Wolf Music crew launched a dedicated vinyl only series in triumphant fashion with the double dose of Red Rack' Em that was In Love Again. Evidently looking to maintain a high profile for this new endeavour, the second release in the series features the talented duo that is Creative Swing Alliance! If you've shaken a leg at a recent Wolf Music gig you'll no doubt be familiar with "In My Arms" from Pabs Valentine and his fellow Creative Swinger Steven Joyce Ames, a sublime arrangement where percussion rattles away with just a hiss of distortion, complemented by filtered M1 stabs, a beefy bassline and some fierce vocal hooks. Heading up the B Side is Wolf cub Thrillogy; don't be put off by the chilly title, "Arctic" is actually all about the warmth that resonates from those huge synth lines.

Ryan Crosson & Aquarius Heaven - "Head Above Water"
Review: Joining forces with producers outside his Visionquest hometown, Ryan Crosson showcases a pair of collaborations that further tap into the sleek and sexy funk of the label he runs. "Angel", penned with the Tale Of Us boys, is an urgent mover with peppy drums and searching dashes of synth clipped into dynamic and ear snagging arrangements. "Head Above Water" reaches for the moody vocal talents of Aquarius Heaven, going for a techy construction that keeps the beat minimal while the melodics come in subtle pulsing tones that create a deeply hypnotic concoction perfect for the blurry end of the night.
