Notes: Really nice approach to sequencing from Omni-Tone. The Melodi generates 'semi-random' patterns based on tunable parameters and probabilities. Dial in combinations of scales, pitch range, tempos and so on to create unique melodies.

Melodi generates sequences based on the mood you set so you can create the sound you're searching for- it can be tweaked to create anything from a powerful bassline to a sparkly melody.

GENERATE

1. NEW - will prompt Melodi to generate a new sequence.
2. TRIGGER IN - accepts a trigger to prompt Melodi to generate a new sequence.

CYCLE

1. ON/OFF - determines if the sequence will loop or require retriggering.
2. TRIGGER - button and jack trigger the sequence to restart at the beginning.

TUNE

* While adjusting tunable parameters, the light bar will reflect the current selection. For continuous parameters the light bar shows amount from 0-100%, for quantized parameters the light bar shows steps.
1. SKIP (continuous) - sets the probability that a note will be skipped in a sequence.
2. PLUCK (continuous) - sets the length of the gate, from short plucks to gliding between notes (portamento).
3. TIE (continuous)- sets the probability that a note gets tied to the next (effectively making the note last two clock cycles).
4. TREND (continuous) - sets whether the sequence trends upwards or downwards in pitch.
5. SCALE (quantized) - select the quantization of the notes used in the sequence. Choose from perfect notes, pentatonic scale, diatonic scale, chromatic scale and completely unquantized.
6. RANGE (continuous) - sets the range of notes from 1 to 4 octaves (unquantized)
7. LENGTH (quantized) - select the number of notes to play in a sequence (from 1-16, or infinitely generating at the max position).
8. SPEED (continuous) - sets the tempo of the internal clock, between 20 and 2000 BPM.

OUT
1. GATE - outputs the gate of the notes in the sequence.
2. PITCH - outputs the pitch (in V/OCT) of the sequence.

The Mutant Rimshot is a fully analogue rimshot and clave generator inspired by the rimshot found in the legendary 909 drum machine; a triple bridged-T oscillator coupled with a state variable filter. The clave sound (not a feature of the original 909 rimshot) is achieved by using just one of the oscillators.

Features

Three oscillator modes

Rimshot HI mode brings classic rimshot sounds
Rimshot LO gives a lower pitch range; try playing with the filter on this setting to get low tom and kickdrum sounds.
CLV (Clave) mode uses just one of the oscillators to give you a brighter, higher percussive sound.
A switch on the back lets you select between original and extended pitch modes. Original mode can give you rimshots exactly modelling that of classic machines (in Hi mode), whereas extended mode gives a wider range of pitch, at the expense of classic accuracy.

Three filter modes

Use the lowpass or highpass filter modes for classic sounding rimshots
Highpass and bandpass can give a wider range of clave and rimshot sounds, as well as completely different percussive elements (especially when turning the resonance up!)
VCF IN lets you blend the clave or rimshot with other sounds. Try adding some filtered noise for a more acoustic sounding rimshot, or for pseudo-snare type sounds.

Novel decay and filter mod controls

The MOD DECAY envelope controls the decay of the VCA envelope
The VCF MOD attenuverter allows you to modulate the filter cutoff with the MOD DECAY envelope
Alternatively, a switch on the back lets you modulate the filter cutoff with the pitch-controlled internal VCO, for filter FM style percussive hits.

Notes: The mmMidi is a simple & compact MIDI interface for your Eurorack synthesiser. It translates two independent channels of MIDI note, velocity and gate information to corresponding control voltage signals via either a classic MIDI DIN type connection or as a driverless USB MIDI device.

Notes: The MetaModule Audio Expander (MetaAIO) adds an additional 6 CV/Audio inputs and 8 CV/Audio outputs to your MetaModule patches, via a ribbon cable connected to the main MetaModule. The MetaAIO provides the same high-quality as the MetaModule's Audio/CV jacks (24-bit, 48kHz default, up to 96kHz).

Notes: The P8S8 controller is for those who love those little sliders. The sliders behave like regular pots, so we named the module P8S8 (the "S" stands for the switches).

The P8S8 has eight Alpha sliders with a range of 20 mm. As a speciality the sliders contain LEDs. Their brightness can be controlled and used for any purpose. As long as you don't use the LED registers, the brightness of the LEDs reflect the current slider positions.

At the bottom the P8S8 has eight 3-way toggle switches.

As always in the DROID universe, it can be patched as whatever comes to mind, but looking at this module, it's almost imposing to be used as modulation sequencer or ADSR controller.

(Delay And Reverb)

Motion Pictures combines lush delay and reverb with intuitive, powerful controls within a 10HP module. Choose between a crisp digital delay or a warm analogue delay and pair it with a spacious, large-hall stereo reverb. Delay and reverb levels can be adjusted independently, allowing you to use them separately or together. The delay time can be controlled using a knob, tap tempo, or CV. You can even send opposing CV signals to the tap tempo and delay time for glitchy, pitch-bending, rhythmic effects. Additionally, CV control extends to the feedback, delay, and reverb levels, providing greater flexibility. Motion Pictures offers rich ambient sounds in a compact design, combining delay and reverb in one module to optimize rack space while preserving sonic depth.

Notes: The SetonixSynth Marsupial is a new dual filter design based around the re-issued AS3350 filter IC, originally used in rare synths such as the Synton Syrinx, Crumar Spirit and Rhodes Chroma but never widely utilized. Normalization between the control inputs and a Series/Parallel switch makes it simple to dial in a huge variety of unique and musical filter sounds.

Notes: Random rhythm generator

Joey is a Eurorack module that generates random gate sequences. It is the offspring of Skippy (Kaona's polyrhythmic sequencer), without simply copying it: it's a very straightforward module that provides unexpected yet controllable sequences.

It offers three main modes:

Random

For random triggers controlled by an internal speed or an external clock.

Fractal

A unique algorithm sprinkled with 5% chaos, creating evolving and surprising patterns.

Euclid

Generates four different Euclidean patterns for complex and evolving rhythms.

Each mode has three adjustable parameters set via a clickable encoder: speed, a mode-specific parameter (probability, fractal root, or Euclidean pattern), and gate length. An external gate input can take over to synchronize speed. A PLAY/STOP button instantly suspends or restarts the gates.

Notes: The QSlider black is an analogue CV source with four 60 mm faders.

The control range of the four sliders can be defined with two min/max controls.

The Min controller determines the output voltage at zero position of the slider and the Max controller determines the output voltage at the end position of the slider.

The slider now regulates between these two voltages. This allows you to restrict the control range and still have the entire control path of the slider available.

The reverse voltage is available at a second output socket (min and max are reversed). This means that the slider can also be used as a crossmix fader.

Two common channels can be operated unipolar or bipolar. The voltage ranges are 0..+10V or +/- 5V.

The output sockets are located on an extra 4HP panel for mounting at any point (with approx. 40cm long connection cable). This means that several modules can also be mounted seamlessly next to each other.

Notes: Another iconic Buchla module gets the Eurorack reissue treatment courtesy of TipTop. The 242t is the brand's unique voltage-controlled clock and trigger module, generating pulses based on a 4x12 matrix.

The Buchla and Tiptop Audio 242t Programmable Pulser is a reissue of the time-event-based generator from the 1970s 200 series. At its center is the Pulser, a voltage-controlled clock oscillator with a wide frequency range, extending up to audio frequencies, numerous outputs, and start/stop controls. The Pulser drives a programmable matrix with three rows of up to 12 stages: (A), (B), and (C). Use it for stereo, use it for two signals, use both channels in sequence, but please let your signals go towards the light and put it to use! Don't make me beg

Notes: Introducing the HATS808, a drum module that brings the classic TR-808 closed and open hi-hat sounds to the Eurorack modular synth format. This module includes features like independent accent levels, a high-powered gain stage, dual input pulse-shaper, and adjustable Filter Q and VC-Q knobs for additional tuning.
The HATS808 uses six analogue square wave oscillators to create its signature sizzling sound, maintaining the unique metallic character of the original. The original "choke" circuitry is fully implemented but can be disabled if needed. The high-powered gain stage allows for further sound harmonization through distortion and clipping. Notes: Introducing the Cortisol Legend: a spiritual successor to one of my early designs, the Steroid Legend, it presents as 4hp of white hot saturation and hairy distortion, and features manual control over two op-amp driven gain stages, with a diode saturation control in the middle, giving you precise control over distortion ranging from smoldering saturation all the way into utter rail-to-rail fuzzification.

As for the diodes, the Cortisol Legend has two flavors on tap: Steroid Legend-inspired diodes and genuine, Cold War-era USSR-made Germanium diodes from the far reaches of Europe. These diodes are getting increasingly hard to find, but have been known for their warm and fuzzy characteristics by guitar pedal enthusiasts for years. Here, you get the genuine article, for as long as they can be reliably sourced.

In addition to having control over the saturation depth, the Cortisol Legend offers an additional control parameter: Eustress and Distress. Roll off the edge and noise a bit with a Styroflex-capacitor filter which varies with saturation depth, or leave no edge unjagged with this setting.

Speaking of noise, this thing is LOUD, so you may want to have an attenuator such as the psATT on hand, unless of course the loudness is exactly what you want. Hand in hand with the overdrive and distortion comes, of course, beautiful new harmonics added to anything from single waveforms to samples, sounds and entire mixes.

Various diodes will be available at different times, but all variants are ultimately limited - all Germanium diodes used in these are new old stock from the Cold War, and one day they will run out.. Expect individual modules to have a bit of their own character.

Notes: A rock-solid all-rounder of a VCO, the Cycle 5 is a triangle-core oscillator with morphable wave shapes as well as conventional sine, triangle, saw and pulse outputs. Switchable octaves and 5th transposition make the module even more user friendly.

A small Eurorack oscillator that packs a punch: that's the best way to summarise Cycle 5.

At its heart lies a refined high-stability triangle core voltage controlled oscillator (VCO), with performance matching or exceeding that of much bigger and costly oscillator modules.

Instead of a coarse frequency knob, a 7-position octave switch is provided. This in combination with a perfect fifth transposition switch and factory pitch tuning, makes Cycle 5 an exceptionally straightforward and musical VCO to use: simply centre the fine tune knob, and the module will be instantly tuned to reference C.

Meanwhile, its dual precision volt per octave inputs add a great deal of versatility. For example, one could be used for pitch sequencing and the other as a generic exponential FM input, or both sequenced together for transposition effectsithe dual inputs serving as a built-in precision adder.

Sporting all the classic waveforms, ranging from sine wave, triangle, saw and square/saw, as well as a hard sync input and low frequency oscillator (LFO) mode, Cycle 5 makes for a real workhorse VCO. The novel trigonometric waveshaper results in a very clean sine wave, ideal for sub bass duty.

Cycle 5's highlight however, is its vari-wave feature. By adjusting the vari-wave knob, the waveform on the matching output will smoothly morph from sine, to triangle, saw, square and finally a very narrow pulse. The vari-wave parameter can be CV controlled, up to audio frequencies for some intense timbres.

Equally at home as a modest modulation companion to big VCOs, as being in the spotlight in miniature or polyphonic systems, Cycle 5 might just be the most multi-talented tiny analogue oscillator yet.

Bandit is a fun combination of band-pass filters, VCAs, and routing options.

It serves multiple functions including equalizer, crossover, multiband VCA, 4 band spectral mixer, and spectral external FX insert point.

Notes: The SD909 adapts the iconic TR-909 snare drum and noise generator for use in the Eurorack modular synthesizer format. Tiptop painstakingly tested the module in their lab to sound like a fresh machine coming off of the assembly line back in the 80s. On top of the original circuit, Tiptop have added new features that expand the palette of what can be produced with this analogue circuit.

The sound of the SD909 consists of two main sections: the binary noise generator and two modulated triangle oscillators. The oscillators provide the low end punch while the noise makes up the upper sonic spectrum, resulting in a combination that makes the 909 snare sound so rich. In the SD909 module, the noise generator and oscillators are variable and voltage-controllable, pushing the circuit beyond its original boundaries, offering new sounds and many variations of the original tone. The panel also has markings to guide setting the knobs to reproduce the vintage snare sound of the original machine.

Just like the other drums in this series, the SD909's high-powered output gain stage allows further enhancement of the sound through distortion and clipping. Notes: Reverse-engineered from the original machine, the BD909 is an identical recreation of the original all-analogue drum circuit of the TR-909. Tiptop have added additional controls and synthesis features that turn this classic circuit into a chest-pounding analog bass drum laboratory - all tightly packed into an 8HP module. The BD909 sound differs from the BD808 in that the main sonic energy is centered in the mid to low frequency range (as opposed to the low frequency range of the BD808). This frequency range gives the needed headroom allowing your bass lines to deeply fill up the low end while the kick drum rides on top - creating a clear and punchy mix.

The BD909 includes all the controls found in the original: Attack, Decay, Tune Decay, Accent, and Level. Tiptop have gone beyond that and added controls that further increase the palette of sound this circuit is capable of. First off, a tuning control knob has been added for the oscillator and included its own CV input and attenuator that let you tune the 909 kick with your bass lines. Next, control knobs have been added for the tuning attack and extending tuning decay. Each one affects the other, allowing for intuitive and interactive sound shaping, opening Z8000 up numerous "sweet spots" and provides the ability to center the energy peak at different parts of the sound. Finally, Tiptop have offered additional punch and distortion by giving complete control over the internal waveshaper, which allows you to overload the waveform manually or with voltage control.

Beginning with the classic and pure sound of the 909 kick, these additional functions greatly expand the BD909's flexibility and let it create powerful analogue bass drums that range from soft and smooth to punchy and aggressive - and everything in between.

CYMBL909 is a dual voice module containing the TR-909's original Crash and Ride circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and was designed to sound like a fresh machine coming out of the assembly line back in the 80's. On top of the original, Tiptop have added some great new features that expand the sound palette of what can be produced with these two voice circuits.

The original circuits use a combination of low-fi 6-bit sound samples that pass through a series of analogue elements that provide envelope and filtering to the source sound. The CYMBL909 module adds manual and voltage control of the sample's analogue tuning section creating tones which range from heavy industrial at the low end, to the original crash/ride sound at the mid range, and bright hats-like sounds at the top end. Modulating the tune with an envelope, CV sequencer, or LFO makes interesting sound bending effects, which can be applied either in or out of sync with the triggering of the sounds.

Just like the other drums in this series, the CYMBL909 high-powered output gain stage allows you to further enhance the sound through distortion and clipping. The HATS909 is the TR-909's original Closed and Open Hi-Hats circuits adapted for use in Eurorack modular synthesizer format and was designed to sound like a machine coming fresh off the assembly line back in the 80's. Improving on the original, TipTop have added some great new features that expand the sound palette that can be produced with this small, powerful module.

The original TR-909 circuit is made with a combination of low-fi sound samples that pass through a series of analogue elements to provide envelope and filtering to the source sound. The HATS909 module allows for manual and voltage control of the sample's tuning, which provides anything from crushed hats and short ticks to the original sound and anything between. Designed to be a highly customizable connection matrix, 3DVCA packs a boat load of utility into a small 6HP package. Four VCAs share the three macro controls: X, Y, and Z. As a group, they shape incoming and outgoing signals and emulate the coordinates of a point in 3 dimensional space. This allow the VCAs to work together in a mono, stereo, or quad configuration and accomplish a variety of mixing, crossfading, and panning functions.

3DVCA is designed to be used in the following functions:

Each output has a dedicated SUM input which allows an external signal to be automatically mixed into the output signal. This allows 3DVCA to daisy chain both with other mixers and other 3DVCAs. For example, you can create a full mono, stereo, or quadraphonic mix by plugging the output of each 3DVCA into the sum inputs of the next 3DVCA in the chain. Using this method, a set of 3DVCAs can create a fully voltage controlled and decentralized mixer which ties together anything from a small skiff to a monster synth.

When 3DVCA works as a crossfader or panner, the X and Y parameters follow an equal-power curve that keep output signals at the same volume no matter how many inputs are mixed together. This is in contrast to the Z parameter which follows a linear curve to always behave predictably with external modulation sources. All inputs are fully DC coupled in order to work with modulation speed signals as well as static DC voltage sequences; this means that 3DVCA can handle any sort of signal that you throw at it. All op amps in the device employ rail-to-rail inputs and outputs to enable the largest headroom when mixing many different signals together.

Notes: Module A-121d is a special dual multimode filter which can be used for parallel or serial organized dual mono filters. Even stereo applications are imaginable. The filters are based on two special circuits: one with highpass and bandpass outputs, the other with lowpass and bandpass outputs. It's a new filter design that is not used so far in any other A-100 filter module.

We attached great importance to the usability of the manual controls and CV inputs for dual filter applications: for the filter frequencies of both filters a common control (Frequ.) and a difference control (Delta, filter spread) are available. For both parameters even CV inputs are available (FCV, DCV). The resonance (Q1, Q2), the sensitivity of the individual frequency control input (FCV1, FCV2) and the level of the audio input (In1, In2) are adjusted by means of the individual controls for each filter.

The module has a simple audio mixing unit available with the inputs Mx1 and Mx2, and the output MxO. Provided that the mixer inputs are open bandpass 1 and bandpass 2 are normalised to the sockets Mx1 and Mx2. All other filter types are realized by connecting the other filter outputs (H1 = highpass 1, L2 = lowpass 2) to the mixer inputs.

Notes: The Mutant Rimshot is a fully analogue rimshot and clave generator inspired by the rimshot found in the legendary 909 drum machine; a triple bridged-T oscillator coupled with a state variable filter. The clave sound (not a feature of the original 909 rimshot) is achieved by using just one of the oscillators.

Rimshot HI mode brings classic rimshot sounds
Rimshot LO gives a lower pitch range; try playing with the filter on this setting to get low tom and kickdrum sounds.
CLV (Clave) mode uses just one of the oscillators to give you a brighter, higher percussive sound.
A switch on the back lets you select between original and extended pitch modes. Original mode can give you rimshots exactly modelling that of classic machines (in Hi mode), whereas extended mode gives a wider range of pitch, at the expense of classic accuracy.

Highpass and bandpass can give a wider range of clave and rimshot sounds, as well as completely different percussive elements (especially when turning the resonance up!)
VCF IN lets you blend the clave or rimshot with other sounds. Try adding some filtered noise for a more acoustic sounding rimshot, or for pseudo-snare type sounds.

Novel decay and filter mod controls

Notes: The SAMPLYR module is a sample player module, that plays sample files from a microSD card.

The samples are simple 8-bit mono WAV files. Features of the module are:

The sample files are organized as simple folders on the micro SD card named "A"..."Z" and per folder files named "0....wav, 1....wav, ..."

Included with the module is a micro-SD card with some demo samples; and each buyer will receive an update for the factory samples, made by the sound designer "empty vessel" exclusively for the SAMPLYR module (provided as download later this year).

The SAMPLYR module is of course not a hi-fi, high quality sampler module due to its 8-bit design. It has the flavour of the early samplers like EMU II, Fairlight CMI IIx, Ensoniq Mirage... The typical, recommended sample rate is 16000 Hz. these samples can be pitched up by approx. 1 1/2 octaves max.

Beyond the 8-bit resolution, the samples can be also encoded as uLaw and aLaw; in this case, the resolution is true 10 bits. For converting your existing samples, the open-source audio editor "Audacity" is great for the conversion and editing process.

Note: The SAMPLYR module is a sample player only; it doesn't offer recording of audio.

Notes: The Flexshaper is a highly versatile module when it comes to modify evolving voltages in other directions and levels.

Five settings allow you to fold/expand/clip/compress/invert partially or completely any CV or audio signal.

Birth of the product

The idea of the Flexshaper comes from a feature in the Oberheimr Matrix synthesizers called Tracking Generator.

This signal processor was part of the modulation matrix and meant to be virtually inserted between modulation sources and destinations in order to change the shape of the controlling signal.

The Flexshaper applies the same concept using the same 5 shaping points. However, it goes beyond Oberheim's implementation on two main aspects:

It goes fast enough to process signals at full audio rate
The 5 points are dynamically adjustable (CV) in real-time
Besides, the Flexshaper can process adequately bipolar and unipolar Eurorack signals, even changing them one another.

Focused versatility seems an oxymoron when describing the features that led to the design of the Mixwitch.

With only a pinch of mixing, inverting and controlled switching, Klavis Electronics brew up a plethora of combinations and uses.

This is voltage processing magic!

The Mixwitch design comes from a frustration with attenuvertors (bipolar attenuators-inverters) whose off (neutral) position is difficult to retrieve, especially in live situations.

Klavis went for a digitally-controlled analogue path where polarity inversion would be at the touch of a button. So, the usefulness of attenuating/inverting can be realized by turning the pot down, swiftly pressing the inversion button and reopening the level. The zero level is where you expect it, with the pot full down.

Once a clean polarity control was established, a mute function was added, offering the benefit of pre-adjusted pot settings ready to be activated at will.

The next step was to bring something extra, useful and creative. There are plenty of analogue switches controlled by a clock; but arbitrarily selecting an input with a voltage is less known. Having both control capabilities combined with Klavis' specific mixer features creates a unique fusion: welcome to the Mixwitch!

Clever four-channel utility module designed to make it easier to achieve perfect oscillator tracking and transpose CV signals. Also includes some neat quantising and portamento features.

The CalTrans solves issues encountered when playing tonal music with a modular system: tracking problems, curves unrelated to Volt per octave ratio, limited octave range, cumbersome transpose, ...

The CalTrans corrects and expands the range of troublesome VCOs and brings V/Oct tracking to anything that oscillates.

Besides calibration, the CalTrans offers live play features. Each channel can be quantized and any combination of them transposed jointly.

A pair of rotary encoders with detent allow an precise selection of octaves and semitones.

VCOs whose tracking doesn't go high enough to follow the leader will see their pitch repositioned in their highest possible octave so that the global harmony is unaffected.

You can add a pinch of portamento and glissando to each channel and save the whole in user presets.

Firmware 1.17 offers:
* User editable input scaling to match sources that don't generate perfect 1V per octave signals.
* Complete rewrite of the main processing with higher precision.
* ... and the unavoidable fixes and tweaks ;-)

The high-efficiency PWM dimmers run at high frequency, ensuring flicker-free and noise-free operation. Additionally, extensive line filtering keeps your Eurorack power supply happy and clean.

Not limited to just manual control, both dimmers also feature control voltage (CV) inputs, turning the connected lamps from simple light sources to voltage controlled audio-visual spectacles.

While the use of the included BNC LED lamps is recommended in order to keep power consumption low, halogen lamps may be used as well. Provided your power supply is beefy enough, up to 6 W of power may be drawn from each output. This even makes it possible to drive 12 V LED strips, truly making your patches shine bright.

Notes: CIRRUS is a real-time granular processor for audio signals. This module is a 100% adaption of Mutable Instruments' Clouds module, a well known module in the Eurorack world.

The incoming audio signal is divided into separate short particles of selectable size, pitch and shape; these so called "grains" are then recombined in real-time in various assignments and by different algorithms, resulting in interesting, moving textures. This is even more intensified by allpass filters and a reverb, so even a short input pulse results in a huge wash of sound.

The audio processing works on up to 32kHz sampling rate in stereo and 16bit resolution for input and output (and can be reduced to 16kHz, 8bit mono for an increased sampling time of 8 seconds). Even with a mono input signal, a wide stereo output is simulated by randomly panning grains and the reverb.

A freeze button freezes the audio buffer and the sonic qualities can still be explored with the parameters in real-time..

All parameters can be CV controlled, of course.

Notes: The "uMM" combines a MIDI merger and two independent THRU distributors in a module that is only 4 HP wide. All sockets on the module are in MIDI TRS-B format.

At the heart of the two-input MIDI merger is a small, powerful ARM processor with plenty of buffer memory. Two MIDI streams are mixed to one output and can also be tapped via an additional second output. Two LEDs signal the operation of the merger: one LED indicates MIDI activity at the inputs, and a second LED warns of too much data at the inputs.

The second group of functions consists of two independent, separate MIDI THRU distributors. The MIDI data at the respective MIDI input can be picked up and distributed at the three THRU outputs. If required, a 1-to-5 distributor can be created from the two units by connecting an output of the left group to the input of the right group.

Notes: CV Random is a random CV generator with 4 types of randomness and a triggerable sample-and-hold function.

Sliders allow you to set the internal clock tempo (RATE), shape the probability of triggering (PROB), blend old with new values (RND) and set the shape of all four random outputs (SHAPE).

RATE

Sets the tempo of the internal clock. The CV input below the slider adjusts the clock rate, with 1V/oct calibration when the CV attenuverter is 100%. Upon each clock trigger, the RATE slider light blinks, and there is a chance for the internal random source to generate a new value.

PROB

This probability is set by the PROB slider, and if a new value was generated, the PROB slider light blinks and a pulse is emitted from the TRIG output.

RND

When the internal random source generates a new value, it mixes the previous value with a random value, with an amount specified by the RND slider.

SHAPE

The SHAPE slider sets the shape of all four random outputs. At its lowest position (0%), all outputs immediately jump to the new random value (the target value) when the clock is triggered.

At non-zero positions, the outputs interpolate between the previous and the target value, using a different behaviour for each output.

Internal random clock source

Whenever the clock activates, the RATE slider's light flashes. At the same time, there's a chance that the internal random source will create a new value, depending on the PROB slider's setting.

If it does create a new value, the PROB slider's light flashes too, and a pulse comes out of the TRIG output.

External IN & TRIG inputs

If the TRIG input is patched, the RATE slider is ignored, and the internal clock is only triggered when an external trigger is received. The PROB slider is used to filter this trigger by applying some probability.

Self-modulation

Thanks to a switch in the back of the module, you can normalize the LIN output to the 4 CV inputs and adjust the amount of modulation for each parameter with the attenuverters.

This adds another layer of randomness to your results, enabling more dynamic and unpredictable outcomes.

SHAPE Outputs

The STEP output jumps to the new value in one step at 0% SHAPE, and divides the transition into 16 steps at 100% SHAPE.

The LIN output immediately reaches the new value at 0% SHAPE, and takes the whole clock cycle to do so at 100% SHAPE, staying constant in between.

The EXP output shifts exponentially, becoming linear at 100% SHAPE, with its pace adjusted by the SHAPE slider.

The SMTH output transitions smoothly, with the speed controlled by the SHAPE setting, holding at the target until the cycle ends.

Perform a variety of mixing and sound design duties ranging from subtle brightness and clarity adjustments to low-end rumble removal, boosted low-pass filtering and sweep EQ.

In the default tilt mode, turning the control knob clockwise simultaneously boosts treble and cuts bass. Turning anti-clockwise boosts bass and cuts treble. These boosts and cuts are pivoted around the mid-range. With the control knob at 12 o'clock the frequency response is neutral.

With Baxandall high-shelf mode enabled, turning the control knob clockwise past 12 o'clock introduces and gentle high-shelf EQ weighted around the upper mid-range. Turning the control knob anti-clockwise results in a wide high-shelf cut with subtle bass and mid-range adjustments.

Patching the channels in series allows for radical sound shaping and band-pass responses. Each channel provides up to +/- 8db of low and high-frequency gain control, summing into a low noise output stage. Hot input signals over 15vpp are saturated by active Zener diode clipping.

Mixer section

Each channel has the following:

Stereo or mono - Each channel can be treated as a stereo channel or a mono channel with two summed inputs.

CV inputs for both panning and level control

Two send buses - You can route each channel to one of two send buses. Each send bus is stereo. You can choose if you want the send to come before or after the level/panning controls.

Mute - The mute has both latching mute (up) and a momentary mute (down). The mute uses a capacitor to slow the turn off and on of the mute action. So it is mostly click-less, but you may find an occasional pop.

Cue bus - You can route each channel to the cue bus.

Expandable Mixer Series

Bartenders can be cascaded to create 8ch, 12ch, or 16ch mixer. The main level is what is sent the main level control can act as a group control.

Barbacks can be added to add 2ch to your mix. Barbacks can also be cascaded enabling up to a 16ch mixer configuration.

Send-VCA can be added for CV control of the level of the send.

DVCA, Cast Iron, Mingles, and USB-2CH can all be connected with Dupont cables (aka female to female breadboard cables) via pin headers on the back of the modules. Connecting the in and out pins will send/receive the audio into the next module.

Notes: The TBD module is a multifunctional DSP (digital signal processing) module that includes more than 30 different synthesis and audio processing plugins. It is a collaboration project between CTAG Kiel (an academic working group of Kiel University of Applied Sciences), instrumentsofthings.com (who produce this module for Eurorack) and tangiblewaves.

The module looks quite simplistic with it's only three knobs and three buttons, but the power lies in the web based user interface for editing and storing the parameters. For editing, the module is connected via USB to your computer and a small software tool running here is the bridge to the editing of the parameters via your web browser. IMPORTANT TO KNOW: When the editing is done, the module runs autonomously, without a computer!

Up to 10 favourites can be stored on the module and be chosen by the CONFIG button.

Dynamic control of the modules' parameters works via the two CV inputs and two trigger inputs (which are linked to two buttons), and two knobs are also available for live tweaking parameters. The assignment of inputs/knobs to actual parameters is done in the web based user interface.

Please note that the TBD module has mono audio input and output (compared to the Eurorack version which is stereo); plugins that do stereo audio work also in the AE TBD, but only on one channel. ("Why only mono?" you might ask; the limitation to mono is due to licensing agreements to keep the module price in the usual AE range.
