Soul Seeker (4:33)
Busta Busss (5:26)
U & I (3:18)
Review: Enigmatic Bristol imprint Ghost Phone returns with its fourth edition of paranormal telecommunications. Whether it's G.Phone & M.Don responsible again, who knows? On Ghost Phone 004 we have the bass driven R&B soul power of 'Feelin'' followed by some heady and off-kilter minimal vibes to be enjoyed on 'Soul Seeker' with its stuttered female vocal adding to its hypnotic effect. On the flip, there's the deep dubstep of 'Busta Bass' adding to the variety featured on this release, and ending with the depressive beats of 'U & I'.

Meditation
Cat: EFNC 002. Rel: 04 Aug 22
Meditation (6:05)
Mystique (5:02)
Mind Games (7:41)
Review: It is now over a year since Michigan musical master John Beltran inaugurated the Eufonic label out of Romania. That was a superb reals also we have been keen to hear more and now we finally get to thanks to Kenneth Graham. His EP stays true to its title with deep, dubby and balmy house getting us in a state of mindfulness. 'Meditation' is airy and well swung with a hopeful note of sustained synth work, 'Mystique' is a little more heads down and driving but no less beautiful in the ambient designs and 'Mind Games' then brings some upright techno soul. Classy stuff.

Inkipak - "Betwixt" (6:36)
Gimmik - "Omnicron Acid" (Acid mix) (5:30)
Brian Kage - "City Of Tomorrow" (6:50)
Pop Out & Play - "Corrosive Tongue" (7:47)
Review: The Fourier Transform label outlay an arresting sonic journey on their debut release, bringing together breakbeat, ambient IDM, ambient techno, and prog house under a single banner. Opening with Inkipak's 'Betwixt', we're met with sonorous low-mid square waves and machine-gun-fire breaks, recalling the breathtaking, verging on apocalyptic expanse of a warehouse rave turned laser light show turned warzone. We break from this warring weir with 'Omnicron Acid' and 'City Of Tomorrow' by Gimmik and Brian Kage respectively, which lowers the intensity and sonic flow via spacious atmospheres and dudding percussive pops. Finally, the perfect fusion of the former two moods is achieved on 'Corrosive Tongue', the lead synth on which sounds like just that.

Time Capsule Extensions
Cat: SRWAX 21. Rel: 05 Dec 23
Maps Of Hyperspace - "Beta" (Longer version) (7:35)
Off Land - "Collapsar" (extended cut) (7:07)
Glo Phase - "Fire Flies" (extended 12" mix) (6:25)
John Beltran - "The Descendent" (Longer version) (7:29)
Adriano Mirabile - "Caju" (extended version) (7:03)
Sanderson Dear - "A Place For Totems" (extended version) (6:10)
Review: Sanderson Dear's Stasis Recordings released the original Time Capsule compilation in 2020 - a 20-track exploration of ten different ambient techno artists exploring two ideas each in compact form for a box set of 7"s. Now the label has revisited some of the project's standout moments and offered a chance to enjoy extended versions gathered on a single 12". From Maps Of Hyperspace shaping out atmospheric halls of synth work on 'Beta' to Glo Phase offering some gorgeous, sparkling grooves on 'Fire Flies', there's plenty of ground covered on this release. Of course the mighty John Beltran is a big drawer too, and his typically stellar 'The Descendent' doesn't disappoint in its full extended version.

Review: Variously inspired by space, sleep science, conscious AI, sound art and climate change, GCOM is Tom Middleton's new vehicle for the kind of music he once made with Mark Pritchard as Global Communication. That's not to say that E2 XO, his first album using the alias, is a Global Communication tribute; in fact, for all of the beautiful, intergalactic ambient, neo-classical, IDM and ambient techno tracks on display, there are just as many that doff a cap to Autechre's more intense moments, experimental drum & bass, Rephlex-style Braindance and post-dubstep UK bass. It's an interesting mixture of sounds and styles all told, but one that makes perfect sonic sense when listened to in its entirety. We can't wait to see how Middleton develops the project in future.

Review: Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard created a landmark of ambient music when they released 76:14 back in the 90s. Their Global Communication project was never just about ambient though, and it also coursed through deep house and more besides. In the spirit of progress, Middleton has returned to thinking about the project from a contemporary perspective, stepping forth as GCOM with the epic scope of E2 XO. From stirring orchestral suites to high octane DSP, it's an expansive listening experience that shows Middleton pushing himself into new terrain in the studio. Whether you tie it back to the prior material or not, it's a towering piece of work from an elder statesman of UK electronica.

Review: Igor Arsenjev works as Gradient and puts out an awful lot of music. It's all about deep dives in ambient, dub and techno and is well designed and super seductive for the mind. Greyscale's 25th album comes from this long-time label friend and is his fourth for the label. It is another warm and comforting listen with subtle stylistic shifts that draw you in each time. There are late-night drivers as well as more dance floor-orientated sounds, hypnotic groovers and masterfully minimalistic meditations. The opener itself is a quick highlight with brilliantly designed and rolling drums under smeared chords that set a fine tone for what is to come. A real triumph.

Review: DJ and producer Tim Green comes through to the esteemed Balance mix series, for a whopping 19-track mix blend through techno, house, ambient, breakbeat and electro. Erring towards the ethereal and atmospheric - with all tracks carefully selected for their naturalism - this one marks a return for both label and artist, as the series hasn't put out any new ones prior to this in five years. Meanwhile, it also contains four new exclusives from Green, highlighting his talent at straddling the techno trunk's adjacent branches of minimal, textural and melodic.

Acheron Way (7:11)
Big World (6:23)
Eucal Regnans (6:24)
Reefer Red Gum (7:34)
Review: Grim Beazley translates the mix of chaos and calm of the Australian bush into his new album Big World. It is a fascinating listen that combines "sounds and stories with deep evolutionary narratives" into soundscapes that are both dreamy and meditative. There is a strong emotional connection in these sounds as environmental themes bubble up next to fusions of house and trance that are both old school chill yet futuristic. 'Acheron Way' is the loose-limbed and breezy opener, 'Big World' has deeper Chicago drums, 'Eucal Regnans' has a more celestial electro vibe and 'Reefer Red Gum' is a post-rave comedown.
