The Navigator
Review: Leon Boiler is hotter then hot. His new release on 2PIay is heavily supported by the worlds DJ elite (Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, Above and Beyond, Blank & Jones, Dave Pearce). On this 12" you will find 2 new Leon Bolier productions. On the A-side we got "The Journey', one of the best tech-trance productions of t2006 so far. On The AA-side you'll find "The Navigator", a stunning blend of tech and electro! Tiesto "Awesome track"; Armin Van Buuren " Very strong tracks!"; Above & Beyond "We Love this record, play it in all our sets."; Blank & Jones "Full support"; Dave Pearce "Played it on my BBC Radio 1 show".

Pedro Bertho - "TOITOI" (6:33)
COEO - "Vertigo" (4:40)
Review: It's all about the early 90s vibes on this 12" from Fauvre as four underground anthems from the era are revisited. Forty Wings Dynamo's 'Inversion' has a dubby, dreamy progressive house feel, its epic outlook and echoing percussion inevitably bringing Leftfield's first handful of 12"s to mind, before 'Raveolution' (Acid mix) brings a more jungle techno feel with sliced up breaks skittering around the four-to-the-floor kicks. Pedro Bertho's 'TOITOI' starts side two, nodding to Jaydee's 'Plastic Dreams' with its soulful keys creating magic over a simple, banging techno framework before COEO's 'Vertigo' gets to work with its proto-breakbeat beats and one utterly orgasmic breakdown. Well worth a step back in time.

Parachute Youth - "Can't Get Better Than This" (5:06)
Review: Indie house duo Parachute Youth released their 'Can't Get Better Than This' single back in 2012 and it went on to become a huge international hit. Now they have resisted it after pairing up with Chicago house vocalist John Summit. Renamed 'Better Than This' it becomes a spine-tingling vocal house cut with warm, shuffling drums and subtle synth work. Packed with blissful and youthful vibes and plenty of sun, it is an energetic rework that has a nice touch of nostalgia and a bassline that will lock in any crowd for days. As well as the easy to love new version, the still lush original version is also included on the flip.

Untitled Audio (Nitrous Oxide remix)
Review: Mike Koglin is best known for his UK Top 20 hit "The Silence", released in 1998. Since then the Grammy nominated producer, remixer and DJ has released a string of productions and over 70 remixes in the last 7 years. 'Ultraviolet' is the first collaboration between Anjunabeats regulars Mike Koglin and Mark Pledger. 'Ultraviolet' uses tons of specially recorded live percussion to create a tribal, driving groove. Combine this with some slick trance elements and you have a big-room, peak-time anthem which delivers the goods. POS is part of superstar DJ trio Above & Beyond, and has had a residency at Cream Ibiza this Summer. "Untitled Audio" was the web voted winner on Above & Beyond's radio show 'Trance Around The World', as well as 'Record Of The Week' on Armin van Buuren’s 'A State Of Trance'. Mike Koglin's individual work has spanned extensively across the dance music stream with affiliations with the likes of Above and Beyond, Darren Tate, Smith & Pedger, Sasha and many more.

Review: The Platipus 30 Years 04 compilation is a nostalgic journey through the heart of uplifting trance, celebrating the legacy of one of the genre's most influential labels. Leading the collection is Libra presents Taylor with the 'Anomaly/Calling Your Name' (Granny Epicure mix), a track renowned for its haunting vocals and enduring presence in mid-90s superclubs. It has explored all manner of styles in that time and here settles on a zoned-out and dreamy house vibe from Pale Blue on the new single 'Dive'. It's layered up with gorgeously breathy vocals and steely tech drums that has warm, worming bass down low and subtle chord changes that help elevate the whole thing. Inspired by the book and movie The Late Great Planet Earth, Peru members Peter Kommers, Rob Papen, and Ruud van Es created an album that showcased their creative versatility. Now, for the first time, this collection is available on vinyl, making it number 003 in the Pinguin catalog.

Review: Some techno is hard, some tech is cosmic, some techno is minimal. And some techno, like this EP from PO, is fun and funky. The drums are programmed in a way that gets you on your toes and tapping out various patterns while your mind is lost in the intergalactic synths work. 'The Time' is the finest example of that while 'We Are Wvil' gets a little more stripped back and serious but still has intriguing melodies and inventive bass shapes. Flip it over for further excursions into comics techno with an 80s feel, slap-funk EBM influences and brain-rewiring hardcore.

Review: Hot on the heels of its digital release comes the fifth top-up to Melody Of The Soul's repertoire. The actual melody of the soul has an infinite song, unending as the universal spirit that unites us all; any representations therein can only be incomplete and numbered, though this four-track home-in is more happy to revel in this limitation, and find a kind of ethereal beauty in the fact. This time focusing on the production efforts of Proff, his progressive number 'Three Sisters' takes centre stage (the album cover is its namesake) and fundamentally proffers a kind of May Day queenly house, with rounding, ascendant female vocals bounding about the mix like a circlet - or coven, even - of magical sisters incanting a rejuvenative dirge.

Review: For fans of downtempo electronica and deep techno, the renewed activity from enigmatic Scottish producer Pub has been a welcome treat in recent years. Seminal releases have been reissued, including 2000's Summer 12", and now we appear to have a logical follow-up in the form of Autumn. It's not clear whether this is an archival dig or something freshly brewed, but it shimmers and dances with the same vitality that has always marked out Pub's music as something truly special. There's a joyous lilt to the melodic composition here, but not without that melancholic undercurrent which has always defined the emotional impact of Pub's considered, elegant take on home-listening electronics.

Review: It's been 21 years since the release of Push's "Universal Nation", a spacey and hypnotic trance classic that first featured on the top selling "The Real Anthem EP". Given that '90s trance classics - and, let's face it, "Universal Nation" is a stone cold classic - are now all the rage again, it seems a perfect time for Bonzai to reissue it. You'll find the Belgian's original mix on side B, with Dutch Drumcode dude Bart Skils delivering a contemporary A-side revision. He retains Push's original fluttering high-register refrain, replacing the backing track with a rambunctious, full-throttle groove that sits somewhere between big room techno and neo-trance.

Together, they have produced a 100% recyclable record which, we're told, uses 60% less energy costs when compared with traditional vinyl production methods. Musically it bangs, too. Saoirse kicks off with a chunky techno cut with dazzling melodies and Pugilist fires up an electro spaceship and heads off to the future with 'Gluttony.' Reptant is in more rueful mood on 'The Last Laugh' and there are still three more cuts on the flip with the highlight being the percolating beats of 'Flex.'

Review: Future Romance's Collector II release is a futuristic trek into through the realms of melodic trance and techno, featuring four melodic tracks by different distinct artists. Solee's 'Euphoria' takes trance into the future with a smoother, more reserved approach, toning down the over-the-top elements for a refined experience. Paul Angelo & Don Argento's 'Harpe' delves into a deeper style of trance, characterised by snappy percussion and growling basslines, with influences from goa trance. On the flip side, Drumcomplex & Frank Sonic's 'Ultra Hex' offers celestial-sounding techno that builds euphorically. Closing the EP, Off Night's 'Definition' presents the most peak-time trance track, with epic and big-sounding elements. If you are looking for the future of the trance and neo-trance, check this out this EP from the birthplace of the genre.

Review: Mario Piu is a tried and tested techno workhorse who has been at this since almost day once. He started in the golden days of the 90s and still keeps on turning out the jams today. This new coloured album on ZYX brings together some of his best bits from over those years. Some are originals, some are remixes, all of them are detuned to remind you of his great contribution to the scene as well as light up clubs all over again. Of course, his most successful tune was a real club classic, the 1999 single 'Communication', which is included here.

Review: Posthuman, the duo of Richard Bevan and Joshu Doherty present the latest full length release on their Balkan Vinyl imprint titled Requiem For a Rave, where they get nostalgic about their teenage years growing up in Scotland and the north east of England. The album conjures up memories of raves in the fields, cassette recordings of pirate radio stations, mixtapes, strange warehouses, strobelights and dancefloors. Indeed you can pick up on these sentiments throughout the album, from the ruffneck ting of opener 'RMX', to the cavernous tunnel vision of 'Fontalic', the acid trance euphoria of 'Proof & Fade' and the early '90s rave throwback of 'Rushing High'. Prepare to go all the way back.
