The Age Of Love (Charlotte De Witte & Enrico Sangiuliano remix)
The Age Of Love (Jam & Spoon Watch Out For Stella mix - 2021 Remaster) (6:47)
The Age Of Love (Solomun's Renaissance remix) (8:11)
Review: Charlotte de Witte & Enrico Sangiuliano come together to serve up a very personal remix of the hugely influential self-titled classic by Age Of Love. The latter artists originally wrote their best-known track in 1990, shortly after which it became an instant favourite on the global trance circuit. Now specially mastered and reissued once again in 2024 after an initial run in 2021, we're met with three exclusive remixes on this version: one huge-room interpretation by the aforementioned dance giganames and two further deep cuts by Jam & Spoon and Solomun, the former of which also appeared alongside the original and hears a remaster.

Review: "Remembering is not the opposite of forgetting," Casey MQ sings at the start of Later that day, the day before, or the day before that, his new LP and Ghostly International debut. It's a phrase fittingly misremembered from something the LA-based, Canadian-born composer came upon, as he spiraled into unconscious and subconscious-led writing sessions at the piano. Musing on the joys of the selective-amnesiac tendency of the creative flow state, MQ makes riveting use of classical-synthetic composition - piano parts run through copious effects chains, vocal parts run through subtly humanised, formant-shifted and note-bent pitch correctors - to produce a sublime amnestic union. But to forget is also to forgive: hence the word 'amnesty' and its common root with amnesia. This is a profoundly forgiving record, with 'Grey Gardens' and 'Me, I Think I Found It' finding a profound space of acceptance for the days coming and going, for solitude and for new leaves uncovered in amnestic carvings-out and turnings-over.

Review: By the time they released Raumgleiter in 1998, Der Dritte Raum were already legends of the German techno-trance scene. This all-time classic album from the breakthrough years of the sound also saw the project move to a major label - Virgin - but now it's being brought back home to Harthouse, the iconic Frankfurt imprint which first nurtured the sound. The scope of the album is wide and playful, teasing ear catching synth lines which keep the mood fun and freaky, not least on the likes of 'Bedruck', while there's an epic tone to standout trance monster 'Hale Bopp' thanks to the cascading arps and relentless forwards thrust. Of its time but wholly relevant in the current zeitgeist, this is the kind of 90s techno reissue that makes perfect sense.

Inaccesible (5:57)
Desmadre (6:14)
Matrix Dance (5:51)
I've Been Watching U (5:31)
Review: Oscuro Femenino is the first release for both Desiree Falessi and Influencia Records, an EP is blending of up-tempo styles like electro, techno and trance. 'Inaccesible' is a powerful, driving, keyboard driven anthem, te main synth line harkening back to classic electroclash of the late 90s - think International Deejay Gigolo Records - with a darker, new wave underlying influence as well. 'Desmadre' is more of an 80s influenced electro that has more of a street breakbeat to it but still sounds fresh and new. For the second side, 'Matrix Dance' is primed for dancefloor destruction. This very catchy track builds to a dramatic crescendo. Lastly, 'I've Been Watching U' ends the record on perhaps our favorite of the bunch. This spacey track finely walks the line between electro and breaks while the bassline draws you closer in. Overall, a great debut dance record for this artist and label! Looking forward to hearing more!

Review: Age Of Love is celebrating its 15 Year Anniversary with a bumper collection of music. It has been presented across three different vinyl samplers, with this double album being the last one of the lot. It's jam packed with uplifting trance of the sort that emerged at the turn of the millennium but is now very much back in fashion with everyone from new-school techno heads to old-time raves. They don't come much bigger than the Fragma opener 'Toca Me' which is then backed up by the likes of Sander Kleinenberg's 'My Lexicon' and DJ Serge & Pascal extended club mix of Monotone's 'Monotone'.

Communication (9:34)
Communication (part 2) (9:38)
Communication (part 3) (8:28)
Review: The 25th anniversary edition of Armin van Buuren's Communication on translucent purple vinyl is a treat for fans and collectors alike. Featuring all three versions of the iconic track on one 12" record, this release offers a nostalgic journey through van Buuren's early career. The original 1999 version, alongside Part 2 and Part 3, shows the evolution of the composition over the years. As a cornerstone of van Buuren's discography, Communication remains a fan favourite and having all three versions on vinyl is a special addition to any collection. Each version gets updated to fit with the times while not losing the essence of the track in the slightest. With only 1000 copies available, this anniversary edition is a must-have for fans of trance music and Armin van Buuren's legacy.

Review: Given Sven Vath's unique and long-standing career in techno, it's fascinating to think about what he was playing in the early years of the Dorian Gray and Omen, two pillars of Frankfurt nightlife. This unique retrospective looks back over the 80s and early 90s, touching on the early EBM, new wave and industrial sound Vath first came up through, capturing the early wave of Detroit techno and Chicago house, the first whispers of European trance and techno and lots of curveball selections in between. It's an exuberant, eclectic view into one of the most flamboyant selectors out there, and whether you're a fan of Vath or just love the era, these are three CDs bursting with incredible music.

Oasis (10:32)
Wiedergeburt (7:31)
Review: The irresistibly catchy 'Oasis' by YOMC is a trance anthem that encapsulates the euphoric spirit of the late 90s scene. Released in 1997, YOMC, the German trance duo consisting of DJ Kai Franz and Lars Handler, crafted a timeless piece that resonated across dance floors globally back then, and will now it has been reissued. The track is defined by its uplifting melodies, driving beats, and ethereal atmosphere which mean that 'Oasis' became a staple in DJ sets and remains a nostalgic favourite among trance enthusiasts. It's a real tear jerker that very much chimes with what is going on in trance today.
