Kiss Him Goodbye
Cat: PLP 001. Rel: 09 Nov 20
The Belmont Shadows - "Kiss Him Goodbye" (3:29)
Wilson D N - "Kiss Him Goodbye" (2:18)
Review: The first Premier League Pressing features one of the best known tracks in popular culture. The Belmont Shadows beef up an acapella version of 'Kiss Him Goodbye' where you'll hear the drummer get wicked over cuts and beats from one of the top DJs of the west coast. On the flip, we have a tough breakbeat-heavy Latin version by Wilson D N that has never been on a 45.

Why Don't You Go Home
Why Don't You Go Home (translucent red vinyl 7")
Cat: FNGR 005AJX 6325. Rel: 26 Mar 24
Dianne Ward & The Kevin Fingier Collective - "Why Don't You Go Home" (2:43)
The Kevin Fingier Collective - "Cocktail De Medianoche" (2:43)
Review: Due to persistent demand and soaring prices for the original pressing, this reissue of 'Why Don't You Go Home' on striking red transparent vinyl could not be more essential. Featuring the dynamic vocals of Diane Ward, the title track delivers a powerhouse performance echoing the King and Federal r&b sound. On the flip side, 'Cocktail De Medianoche' serves up a delightful blend of Boogaloo and Northern Soul, a cherished favourite among aficionados of Latin grooves and Uptempo Soul. With two phenomenal tracks, this reissue promises a perfect double-sider experience! for lovers of soul.

If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely)
Geno Washington & The Ram Jam Band - "If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely)" (2:40)
Stuart Smith - "The Drifter" (2:55)
Review: Geno Washington & the Ram Jam Band were an U.K. based soul band, active between 1965 - 1968. Born William Francis Washington in Evanston, Indiana, Geno joined the airforce marching band and, after leaving high-school, was transferred to England - a week before his 18th birthday. His previously unreleased session recording featured here is 'If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely)' Also featured is 1965 Northern Soul number 'The Drifter', another unreleased Pye recording originally recorded in America in 1965. It was released in the U.K. the next year, where it was covered by English-Canadian Long John Baldry.

Sunshine

Sunshine (4:24)
The End Of Our Love (2:19)
Review: American jazz singer and actress Nancy Wilson is still going, having accrued a queenly quantity of releases to her name ever since the late 1950s. She has recorded over 70 albums of jazz, soul, pop and r&b, not to mention an uncountable barrage of original ingles; among her choicest is Sunshine, which we'll have you know doesn't happen to be a cover of the Roy Ayers original. Instead, Sunshine is a more-than-sophisticated soul-jazz piece, opening with futuristic filter-swept synths and emerging into slinky lyrical ode to the unparalleled feeling of loving you, as opposed to anyone else.
