To kick-start their new compilation style series, the much-loved imprint has gathered up a quartet of cuts from an eye-catching array of artists. Heist regular Nachtbraker steps up first with 'Banda', an intergalactic-sounding hybrid of tech-house, deep house and nu-disco sounds, before Rob Amboule steals the show with the bleeping electro-meets-twisted electronic funk brilliance of 'Capnhat'. Review: The "Rhythms Of The Pacific" series hears Vancouver label Pacific Rhythms reimagine dance music to aid in vast ocean traversals. Returning with another 12" sampler of material - the tracks are slated for inclusion in a celebratory ten year anniversary comp later this year - we hear Lnrdcroy, Waterpark, Kennedy and Active Surplus bring upper-echelonic, chameleonic beats of the much-less-peggable variety. 'Galaxio Salaxio' moves between dark synth and watery dub, scarcely preparing us for the immersive chordal swims that ensue on 'Coastal Plus'. Finally, 'Blue Beam' incurs an underwater search for coves and water pockets, as jets of pressure escape through riser synths and pufferfish drums.

Review: Frost and Einzelkind's Pressure Traxx captures the evolution of minimal tech house over the past ten years, as the rigour of functional 4/4 gave way to different rhythms and motifs from the wider dance music lexicon. It was a smart move which helped reinvigorate the scene, and while they didn't do it on their own they absolutely fuelled the fire. Ten years in, their label is certainly due a retrospective which stretches out over eight sides of next-level workouts for long blends and marathon sets. The cast of characters hardly needs explaining - from Tobias and Villalobos to Edward and John Dimas, the quality never lets up and in one smartly arranged box set you're going to be gifted with the finest minimal in recent circulation.

Review: Galcher Lustwerk is one of those artists who has a completely diehard fan base. And for good reason, he is an idiosyncratic producer who collides myriad different sounds. Rap, funk, blues, beatboxing, techno, electro and bass are all fair game to him. His fist ever mixtape was a stream of sonic consciousness that has never before been released on vinyl. But now Ghostly International step up and press it to two 12"s, with both black and coloured green versions as well as a CD version available. It was a fine announcement of his arrival back then and still stands apart today.

Review: Fledging but already fine young label U.Dig out of Croatia is back with more final gold, this time from a master of the form in Alexis Cabrera. He kicks off with the mini-epic that is '1997.5', a real head-melting and elastic acid tune that is perfectly deep and rolling for the freaky afters. 'Straight Up' is more punchy and taught, with low-slung drums and crisp hits powering it forward. Last of all things get brilliantly unhinged on 'Microrama,' a kinetic and densely packed cut with flappy snares blaring synths, withering melodies and a true sci-fi feel.

Review: Constant Black is one of the numerous labels in UK artist Burnski's orbit. He's been a man on form on all fronts in recent years and here he snaps up Retrospect for a trio of super slick and funky minimal house cuts. 'Ay-up!' is a cheeky opener with subtle northern welcomes hidden in the mix as the lithe bass and 2-step tinged drums do their thang. It's reet good. 'Schneebly' gets more pacey and balmy, with silky and oily bass and kinetic drum work all underpinned by a sick bass tone. Last of all comes '4 U' which has something of an upright garage skip and downright irresistible groove. These are high functioning, charismatic cuts to pump up any floor.

Review: After 20 years of a restful sleep, the legendary Icelandic Thule offshoot house label 66 Degrees has been resurrected. Three deep cuts exhibiting what is in store for the year 2022.
It begins with "Can Ride", a neo-disco anthem from former resident Justin Simmons. Nifty groove with an acid-bassline - topped with all the razzle and dazzle that is needed to get the dancefloor moving.
The flipside starts with a remastered Raresh secret weapon, a proper minimal percussion-driven groove from Kate & Joan, a side-project of Dole & Kom from the renowned label BCC music. The Detroit-influenced dub house anthem will, without a doubt, be a useful tool for any DJs to get the crowd going.
The second cut on the B-side is from a Reykjavik-based beatmakers Oh Mama. Its wild style sample-based approach caught the label's attention and the result is a worthy debut vinyl release. Hypnotic, sexy and groovy - with a big and dirty bassline.

Review: Iceland's Thule offshoot label 66 Degrees was a vital label back in the day. After a 20-year hiatus, it came back strong in August and now follows up quickly with a second superb EP. This one is a carefully curated various artists collection that pulls together some local house anthems new and old. Ozy's 'Sequential Dub' is a super smooth deep house number with lush chord work. Sanasol brings heavier, more raw house drums and grinding bass that will get floors in a sweat. Oz Artists mixes up a raw, mechanical groove with balmy, dreamy pads up top to make for something utterly compelling on 'Atomox; while last of all Terry Cummingz pays homage to dusty Windy City house on his perfectly lo-fi 'Cherry Bon Bon. Classy business for sure.

Review: Long-time quality deep house operator Andy Vaz has a classically inclined sound that is infused with his own European perspective. Never has that been more obvious than with this EP on I'm In Love which assembled some of his best work. Review: New label Autochrome kicks off with good intent - not only does this one come on nice heavyweight wax with a cheeky Homer Simpson logo, but the minimal tech beats are fresh indeed. 'Ritmatic' is all bubbly lines and underlapping bass, with gurgling synths making you move. 'Powermood' then gets more funky, with clipped bass vocals smeared into the arrangement to bring soul and dynamism. 'Mucanue' closes out with balmy cosmic pads swirling around clacking drums. Review: The highly politicised Los Angeles collective Ultra Red re-released their superb A16/A17 12" last year. Both tunes were produced entirely from field recordings made during street protests against the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington April 16 and 17, 2000 and became secret weapons of DJs like Ricardo Villalobos & Craig Richards. Now, 'A16' gets remixed by underground titans Losoul and The Mole into two club-ready groovers. Losoul goes first with a dry and minimal take that is textured and deep with plenty of absorbing atmosphere. Next up, The Mole goes for a more propulsive sound with glistening tech house drums and icy pads. Both are artful reworks that take you on a mental trip.

Review: .Zurich has a small but well formed scene that now bears fruit in the form of this new label, alt?r:alt?r. Zefzeed takes the reins of the first sonic statement with four tracks of sophisticated and deep house and tech. 'A Well Watered Fern' is brain cleansingly smooth with buffed metal synths and liquid grooves. There is a darker minimal march to 'Save The Day' that reminds of Melchior and a sweaty pump to 'Farm That Face' that makes it a standout. 'Fishbed Touring' swings low with tripped-out designs and melted synths.

Review: Costin RP is, to us at least, one of the newer names to emerged from the ever fruitful Romanian scene. Of course he makes minimal for the late night hours, but his own take on it has a little sense of fun and playfulness as evidenced by this new EP on BPLR. 'About Us opens up with a drunken sense of off-balance rhythm and shiny synth leads that never stop evolving. Sit then remixes and brings more defined drum funk to his version while 'Bad Waters' shuts down with some raved-up synth stabs and tripped lines that rise up and down through the mix in nice loose fashion.

Review: Rominimal stalwart Teo Bajdechi aka Sepp presents the next release on London's Into The Woods. The man from Constanta delivers three wondrous tracks on the About Us EP; the title track is the kind of rolling and hypnotic tackle that you've come to know from the artist that's aimed squarely at the main room dancefloor, before heading to the afterhours on the woozy microhouse of 'Kiss'. Review: It's five up for Spanish label Les Enfants who have done a fine job of bringing some colour and personality to minimal, which can all too often be rather dry and abstract. 'Adapt Or Die' opens up with nice fleshy bass rotations and some characterful synth details then 'High Volatility' gets more direct with an acid-tinged vibe and dirty low ends. A Priku remix then smooth stings out and brings some signature cool to 'Love That Keys' and the original is a frantic collage of hurried loops, deep space pads and progressive energy. Bravo by name, bravo by nature.

Review: Sheffield producer Tommy Vicari Jr. offers us a vicarious opportunity to join him on a trip across the UK and beyond, through his chosen vehicle of organic tech house. For some reason he's named his latest compilation LP after the Middlesex pianist Adrian Snell, although the connection between him and releasing label Curtea Veche is difficult to ascertain - the eponymous track on the B1 could provide a clue, as it sounds as though it samples the pulchritudinous piano playing of the great Snell himself. The likes of 'Heart Not Head' and 'Play Misty For Yourself' also espouse great philosophies in the track titles, complementing each of their freewheeling, spiritual tech house attitudes, replete with jiving string movement and lighthearted tonality.

Review: Since 2019, Taylor Freels - best known for his work as Urulu - has used the Liquid Earth alias to explore the more psychedelic side of his dancefloor influences, frequently doffing a cap to 1990s acid, breaks and progressive house. This time round, you'll hear some of those inspirations, but also nods to the early days of UK garage. For proof, check 'Handy Boy (Casa de Mama Remix)', where cut-up r&b vocal snippets and mind-mangling electronics ride am Armand Van Helden style 'dark garage' groove, and the psychedelic acid-goes-4/4 UKG madness of 'Big Nik's Speed Garage'. They heady and intoxicating hybrid flavours continue on 'Lick of Life (Just A Little Mix)' - all weird noises, odd samples, acid lines and speed garage drums - while 'Clubber's Exit' sits somewhere between weighty Detroit electro and nu-skool breaks.

Review: This unique 12" project showcases the newly emerging talent of students from Alex Font's weekly online music production course, snappily named Alex Font Music Production Course, by offering them their first opportunity to release and promote a record under the Acme label. The EP features a diverse range of sounds which range from N&O's deft and highly detailed minimal tech cut 'Limited Capacity', Malhiot's 'Flynts Dreams' freaky and abstract late night melon twister 'Flynts Dreams' and Travis Barrington's 'Friends & Enemies' which his one to zone you out at 5 am. Review: After a couple of quiet years Ferro's VBX label returns with a bang, as the esteemed Dutch minimal producer links up with none other than Ricardo Villalobos for a run of 'Ferric' jams. Enlightened souls should have some idea of what to expect here, as Ferro's snappy grooves collide with Villalobos' meandering sound collages to create psychoactive termites geared towards twisting out the dancefloor good and proper. This is proper minimal, with the percussion chiselled into fine clicks and pops to leave more space for the trippy elements to weave their magic. The quality comes assured from this new pairing, hopefully paving the way for more collaborations in the future.

Review: Long time friend Akyra from Switzerland (by way of Italy) follows up releases on Blind Vision, WE_R House and Modula Records to join One Of 4, on this latest release alongside Italian compatriot Demi James. Four proper house jams on this one titled 'Akyjam'; there's the dub-tinged stomp of A1 cut 'Funkier Than You' which calls to mind classic Cab Drivers, while the quirked-out minimal house off 'NFSE' follows in suit. Review: With Yoyaku's record shop staff handling A&R, the YYK No Label imprint has become impressively unpredictable. Recently, they've served up 21st century progressive house from Varhat, a killer collaboration between Chez Damier and Ben Vedren and an experimental synth-pop album from People People. Here they turn to Swizz jazz drummer Samuel Rohrer, an artist with extensive experience of delivering hybrid acoustic-electronic tech-house and minimal techno excursions. That's what's on offer here, with Rohrer blending vintage electronics and his own drums and percussion with synthesiser sequences, machine beats and intoxicating aural textures. This approach is best exemplified by the Tangerine Dream-goes-tech-house flex of 'Rewired Paradise' and the sludgy, pitched-down 'Memory Reset', though ambient jazz number 'Into The Void Where Things Go (Part II)' is also brilliant.

Review: Viken Arman is Alone Together on his superb new album for the French label Denature. The artist himself is obsessed with freedom and his sound sits somewhere in a nether region between house, jazz, hip-hop and minimal. Carefully layered and precisely structured as it takes listens on a colourful and kalaedescopic journey through different moods and grooves with plenty of worldly influences, it's the sort of deftly designed album that works both at home and in the club and packs in plenty of profound moments of emotion.

Review: Romanian artists Funky Trip dropped the fourth EP on the Bohrium Records label back in January and despite promises it would not be repressed, it has in fact been repressed just a few months later, but given the timeframe we don't blame the label for wanting more people to have this one. This artist stands out in the Romanian new wave for navigating a vast universe on releases with Rawax, Nazca and Stamp Records. 'Alpha' features a passionate vocal cry thing brings emotional urgency to the dub, percolating beats and synth phrases that loop tightly. 'Dreams' has a more melodic, light and airy feel for the quiet moments. Barac of Moment Records adds his signature touch to the title track, with a smooth rhythm layered with subtle psychedelic influences.
