Review: ***B-STOCK: Record slightly warped***

Multi-artist EPs have all been all the rage of late, though few can boast quite as strong a line-up of artists as this one from dependable French deep house label Phongramme. It begins with a gorgeous chunk of detail-heavy, sun-splashed electronic deep house brilliance courtesy of Abacus (an artist whose discography also contains outings on Prescription, Innermood and NDATL Muzik) and ends with a vibraphone-solo sporting shuffler from the effervescent Byron The Aquarius and Computer Jay ('When The Freaks Come Out'). Sandwiched in between you'll find two more must-have workouts: the bumpin', brilliant and spiritually uplifting 'States of Motion' by Fred P, and a typically dusty, jazzy and warming number by Colombian hero Felipe Gordon ('The Gordon Way').

Deep House
Review: A re-release of the duo's 2003 classic, originally housed on the now defunct label, Vulture, French label Kitsune have done the world a favour in reincarnating this tried-and-tested classic. An expertly-composed track, it comes as no surprise to learn that both Braxe and Falke's musical roots can be traced back to their classical training - Braxe learnt clarinet and cello from an early age, and Falke began his journey into music as a bass player before moving onto production. The pair's deep musical understanding, which goes beyond the tenets of production, can be felt in their instinctive understanding of melody. 'Love Lost', in its emotionally rousing structure and playful percussive elements, is a striking example of the French duo's outstanding collaborative work.

Review: Dungeon Funk lands heavily here with a debut release that sets a good standard from the off. This marks the first time that assured and hardcore deep house heads Dungeon Meat and SlapFunk Records have come together and it is the result of Meat man Brawther hosting a comp on his Patreon channel for aspiring producers to try and impress. From the many entries he received, the four best are served up here starting with Ibiza-based A.M. Project whose 'Flippin' Kicks' has heavyweight kicks and plunging bass. UK-based ADMNTi & Jack Ling offer the quick tech funk of 'Meat Slap', Russia's Fanick brings a trippy breakbeat vibe with 'Watch Me' and Canada's Modal Logic offers 'Space and Science Center', a nice loopy and low-slung banger to close.

Review: Party starting outfit Bizarre is back with another offering of leftfield club cuts. The A-side of this one has been carefully curated by founding members Felon5 & B.Love. Their cosmic house excursion starts with the playful robot funk of 'The Talkbox Track' and then takes in the silky space tech of 'M Is For Muff' which is effortlessly cool. Jhobei & Oliver R then step up with 'What's On Then' which is another mix of warped bass and neon synth lines over popping tech funk and then Love & Charleze conspire to send you home on a nice warm hearted disco tech vibe with their 'IC3D' featuring some super synth expressions.

Review: Get yourself geared up for festival season with some fierce party starters certified with the Glitterbox stamp. Melvo Baptiste leads the charge with 'Sweat', a sizzling disco house stomper with Dames Brown giving the biggest diva energy on her show-stopping vocal. Lovebirds bring unbridled joy on the Philly string swoon and slinky b-line funk of 'Burn It Down', while Art Of Tones & Inaya Day keep it peak time on the sassy strutter 'Give My Love'. Review: Coeur De Glace on DKO Records (DKO 34) delivers four fantastic electro tracks, each with unique influences and directions. Side-1 kicks off with Binary Digit's 'U Want Dis,' an exuberant, high-energy track that pays homage to old-school rave with its lively vocal samples. Fasme's 'Morning' follows, blending smooth electro with soft keys and a whimsical AFX melody for a perfect combination. Side-2 features GGGG's 'La Cueillette,' a feel-good, fun and melodic electro tune. The EP concludes with Mud Deep & Sans-Qui's 'Mesonyx,' offering IDM goodness reminiscent of Rephlex, Squarepusher, and AFX. Coeur De Glaceis a vibrant and diverse collection, sure to delight fans of electro and techno.

Brooht - "All Together" (6:32)
DOTT - "Life In The Alley" (6:57)
Flylov - "Polygonal Funk" (5:31)
Venetia - "The Night" (6:49)
Review: A year after launching via a four-track trip into techno and breakbeat house territory from Aerofunk, French label Silias delivers a belated sequel. There are four tracks on this release, too, though they come from a quartet of different artists. Brooht gets things going with the locked-in rush of 'All Together', where eight-bit synth stabs and retro-futurist motifs leap above a smooth, club-ready groove, before DOTT delivers 'Life In The Alley', an analogue, sweat-soaked house excursion full of foreboding noises, trippy acid motifs and breathless bass. Over on the reverse, Flylov impresses via the bleeping, house-tempo techno-funk of 'Polygonal Funk', while Venetia's 'The Night' sounds like Daft Punk after a night out in the underground clubs of Paris and Lyon.

Review: Here's a collaboration we didn't see coming. Nod Your Head sees talented Columbian house producer and multi-instrumentalist Felipe Gordon join forces with lesser-known beat-maker Brous One, a Germany-based Chilean renowned for serving up dusty hip-hop instrumentals. What's on offer is largely club-ready deep house jams that make the most of Gordon's skills and musicianship, though the beats and grooves are blessed with the instinctive swing of Brous One's hip-hop productions. Our picks of a very strong bunch include the languid jazziness and head-nodding house shuffle of 'Right Away', the downtempo jazz-funk sunshine of 'One For Those That Paved The Way', and the piano and synth-laden house colour 'Here We Go'.

Review: Some of tech house's biggest names feature on this new Defected 12" alongside a trio of more contemporary talents. Butch & Nic Fanciulli are very much in the first category and they offer the happy hosue and big samples of 'I Want You' before new schooler Hannah Wants rolls out a chunky house groove with blissed out Ibiza vocal energy on 'The One' (feat Ara). Archie Hamilton pairs old school Chicago energy with a fresh vocal on the anthemic 'Let The Light In' (feat HQA) then Dutchman Ferreck Dawn shuts down with the crossover dance sounds of 'Better' (feat Jena).

Review: Red Laser Records continue their stellar form with another knockout release, blending Manctalo fire from old hands and fresh faces alike. Frank Butters opens the EP with The Call Of The Wild, a dazzling blast of crystalline synths, thunderous bass, and cosmic effects that showcase his forward-thinking production skills. Bob Swans delivers 'Bodyform4U', a dreamy arpeggiated groove that builds an uplifting, futuristic atmosphere, perfect for igniting the dancefloor. Lone Saxon switches things up with 'Hypersleep' a breakbeat-infused piano gem that oozes nostalgic charm, before Franz Scala and Il Bosco finish strong with Webo, a late-night, tension-filled Manctalo banger.

Review: Sweat It Out Records kicks off their tasty Sweat Sampler series with their first volume, cutting niftily across four exceptionally sweaty bops, spanning tongue-in-cheek deep tech reworks and downtempo disco delights. First off is the dream team of Cid and Havoc & Lawn, whom together deliver a hilariously effective house version of America's 'A Horse With No Name'; this is shortly followed by Saturday Love, Kon and Furious's 'Come Out', a rejigged nu-disco samosa packed with some rare vocal spices; then there's 'Give It To Me' by Marco Lys and Ben Miller, a bass-driven bouncer unafraid of lasershot winddowns, injunctive vocals and risers; and finally, there's Set Mo's 'Could I Be', the anthem of the bunch, whose buildup and drop is alarming, affecting, cumulatively awe-striking.

Forest Electrik - "Circuitry Haywire" (3:25)
Review: Joe Claussell's mythical Sacred Rhythm has to be without a doubt one of the best and most reliable house labels around, and having a listen back through its catalogue immediately made us think that this dude was doing outsider house before the term house had even been coined - that's right, hear this! Residual Three is Joe stepping up under different monikers, first as Teenage Music with the loose, vocal-driven house amalgam that is "The Bargain", followed by "Freedum" on his Forest Elektrik name - a bouncy, synth-heavy dance experimentation - and a completely distorted, near beatless jam under the same name, entitled "Circuitry Haywire". Dopeness embodied.

Coflo, Steve Howerton & Niya Wells - "Ecru" (9:51)
Review: A San Francisco house producer who is taking jazz influenced house music to another level is Coflo aka Cody Ferreira 'Syncopatience' is a stunning deep house release that highlights his signature blend of soulful rhythms, intricate grooves, and rich musicality. Each track brims with personality, that blend clever and creative vocals and lyrics to a deeper level than just for the dancefloor. Side-1 starts off with 'Get Down, Show Love', a collaboration with Fenyan that exudes a hip, jazzy charm. Playful yet refined, it features catchy vocal work and a high-level jazz flair, effortlessly blending house with improvisational energy. Next, Coflo's remix of 'Cee.Side's Elektrify' brings atmospheric depth, wrapping Latin influences around a funky, sultry groove that's as hypnotic as it is danceable. Side-2 delivers Ecru, where Coflo, Steve Howerton, and Niya Wells craft a deeper, tech-tinged house cut with sharp, clever lyricism. Its polished production and layered instrumentation elevate it to a higher plane of jazzy house, demonstrating Coflo's versatility and artistry. 'Syncopatience' has the solution on how merge soulful textures with dancefloor energy in a unique way.

Review: If you came of clubbing age in the mid to late 00s, there's every chance you'll be transported back to halcyon days hearing this monster reissue. Danish singer Ida Corr hit it big when she teamed up with Fedde Le Grand for one of those remixes which eclipses the original. 'Let Me Think About It' is pure pop-club perfection, but it's no bright and breezy affair. This is dark and dirty house music of the highest order - if you loved it the first time around, you're going to love hearing it again, and if you get to play it to a crowd who are unfamiliar, you're going to make a lot of people lose their minds with one flick of the fader.

Cumulative Collective pome with the joyous and life-affirming jazz sounds of shuffling house delight 'AskaFara'. Takahiro Fuchigami's 'Strange Acquaintance' floats through the cosmos on jittery melodic details with crisp percussion and warming Rhodes chords. Sadan - "Creamster Shake" (7:01)
Flashbaxx - "Gold" (7:11)
Review: More 'Goodies' from the classy Cabinet label, as the imprint's occasional multi-artist EP series reaches its fourth instalment. Berlin scene stalwart Daniel Paul kicks things off with a fiendishly sub-heavy, garage-flecked and deliciously dubbed-out edit of Da Kick Squad's 'Do This Gig', before Attilan provides a pleasingly spacey, deep and rolling house revision of Daniel Paul and DJ Trike's 'Rollo'. Over on the flip, Sadan's 'Cremaster Shake' peppers a deep, dubby bassline and loose-limbed tech-house drums with intergalactic synth sounds, while Flashbaxx's 'Gold' effortlessly joins the dots between woozy, sun-soaked deep house niceness and the crew's usual disco-tinged synth and guitar sounds. In other words, it's a genuinely high quality collection that's all killer and zero filler.

Review: Cabinet is one of those labels that has been turning out the tuned for years and the quality level somehow never seems to dip. This latest 12" opens up with a Daniel Paul edit of Da Kick Squad's 'Do This Gig' which is slick tech with hints of Melchior's smooth sound design. Daniel Paul & DJ Trike' 'Rollo' (Atitlan version) is another perfect example of nailing a sweet and hypnotic house loop and just letting it run for days. Sadan's 'Creamster Shake'is a more trippy and lithe affair with some playful melodies and Flashbaxx's 'Gold' is a deep, late night and candle-lit sound for romantic and intimate spaces.

Review: Now that Heist Recordings is 10 years old, label bosses Dam Swindle have decided the time is right to launch a new series of EPs featuring big tunes and sought-after classics from the imprint's archive. Fittingly, volume one begins with the track that opened the label's debut release - the classic US deep house style bounce of Dam Swindle's 'The Breakup' - before we're offered the chance to savour the organ-rich, hands-in-the-air positivity of Scan 7's brilliant 'The Best Is Yet To Come'. Review: Monday Morning is back to roll out some more lush house depths with a second EP, this one featuring founder Manuel De Lorenzi in the company of his pals Giacomo Silvestri, Freddie Wall and Fichs. 'Sun-Rise' is a nice gritty but vibey opener with percussive skip and dry hits. Takahiro Fuchigami - "Outer Heaven" (5:35)
Review: Stefano De Santis kicks off Ten Lovers' new 'Best Of Various' release with 'Murk'; as the name suggests, this is indeed a dark workout from Rome's finest. The tone is set thereout for a thoroughly varied V/A, blending every curious hallmark from jazzdance, G-funk, Chicago house and progressive. The opener is a muted but no less expansive start, establishing the broken, one-beat-eliding, live-drummy mood that is then heard throughout. Batavia Collective's 'Rearview' thematically harks after an unconscious joy, considering what can only be implied, not stated, by way of a gorgeous, what sounds to be largely live, modal synth squeezer on which the slowdown is the real highlight. Future Jazz Ensemble's 'Over The Rainbow' is by far the most challenging, blurring any woulda-been established lines popularly splitting 'live' and 'electronic' with a reverb-drenched generative fill workout, while closer 'Outer Heaven' from Takahiro Fuchigami, hailing from Fukuoka, rounds things off on a note of Hancockian jive.

Demarkus Lewis kicks things off via the carefully crafted disco-house release of 'TGIF', before Federfunk slams down the jazz-sampling peak-time punchiness of 'We Keep It Groovin' and Jazzmik offers up the funky deep house bounce of 'Get Him Outta Here'. As Goes The Sun (Simon Garcia Headhunter remix)
No One Get's Left Behind (Konstantin Sibold remix)
Review: Giving Flowers & Sea Creatures the dancefloor edge their sound has always hinted at, Yellow is the final piece in this lush, soul-entrenched deep house puzzle. The original rides with a lolloping two note bassline that you could imagine The XX trembling over. Remix-wise Simon Garcia gives it an Innervisions-style deep techno facelift with added flourishes of cosmic synth flutters. Konstantin, meanwhile, focuses on the live aspects of the original with a powerful bassline and spellbinding needles of acid. Don't get left behind...

'Ciao Italia' Bonus Quattro, Cinque and Sei continue to connect two generations - the trailblazers of the early 90s and those continuing the legacy today, with a futuristic perspective and renewed energy. Bonus Sei includes classic tracks from legends like Doni & Leo Young, Pastaboys, G.P.M., Steve Mantovani, Dan-E-Mc, Daniele Mad, along with unreleased material from newer Italian artists such as Hiver and Feel Fly.

Johannes Beck - "Rendezvous"
Review: For their seventh release, Leipzig imprint Kann Records present Family Horror, a sumptuous double twelve selection of tracks from label holders, close friends and beloved artists. Proceedings commence in suitably deep surrounds via Dorisburg, a key part of the Aniara Recordings family who've arisen with such aplomb from Gothenburg of late. "Emotion" proves to be as captivating as anything they've done to date, with snatches of delicate vocals emerging from a glacial house throb and unfolding into something deep and warm. Elsewhere Chicago leaning ruffness from Sevensol & Bender on "Molly" is matched by Even Tuell's excellent "Dramaqueen" - an experimental track dominated by gaseous clouds of analogue bass. With further contributions from Efdemin, map.ache and Johannes Beck, this is a release that impresses upon first listen but truly captivates after repeated play.

Review: Detroit mainstays Drivetrain and Blaktony are next up on Soiree with some high-octane but soul-infused machine music, while Funtom and Hughes Giboulay appear on the flip side. Drivetrain gets to work with the jerking loops and turbocharged chords of 'Hyperlock' while Blaktony's 'Butt Naked' sinks into a deeper late-night and more dubbed-out house vibe. Funtom's 'Wisdom' brings a great lightness of touch in the wispy pads and scuffed-up drum patterns, then 'Kickin That Feelin' has a more exuberant but still deep feel with subtle chord joy and deft acid.

Karim - "In My Mind" (11:15)
Review: Running Back chief Gerd Janson has an encyclopaedic knowledge of house music, so it's no surprise that he's reissue picks (showcased on the 'Double Copy' series) are always top drawer. He begins this must-check label sampler by serving up the Chicago deep house deliciousness of Earth Boys' 'Destination Heaven' (a 1997 Roy Davis Jr co-production smothered in jazzy electric piano solos), before treating us to a synth-strings-propelled slab of Motor City deep house brilliance from 1993, Family of Few's 'Intervoles'. Over on the flip, there's a chance to savour the dense, bleeping, early morning hedonism of Dummy Head's 1992 classic 'Been Waiting You' (a Swiss-produced cut featuring guest vocals from NYC deep house royalty Jovonn), as well as the angular electronics and crunchy drums of Rob Mello's 1997 cut as Karim, 'In My Mind'.

Review: Toolroom sits at the top of the tree when it comes to big room house music. Mark Knight's label has mastered the art of maximal sounds and this eighth volume of the Tooroom Sampler series is another one that will do plenty of damage. Essel's 'Sweat' is a rigid tech cut with stiff synths and libidinous vocals, then Shiba San and Ayarez get direct with shuffling tech house cut 'Twist It' complete with big skewed synths. Friend Within's 'Pilka' keeps the energy levels high with fizzing synth loops over textured drums and a fat bassline. Maur x Westend and Cami Bear close out with some brighter melodies to get hands in the air on 'Over.'

Review: For their first release, the team behind the freshly minted Up The Stuss label have turned to occasional Salty Nuts founder Fabe, a Mannheim-based producer who has also released on FUSE London in the past. His trademark style - think funk-fuelled electronic basslines, swinging tech-house drums, colourful chords and quirky melodies - is evident throughout the EP, from the old school U.S garage-influenced bounce of bleeping tech-funk opener 'One Take in the Booth' (where he gets on the mic and showcases his rarely heard singing skills), to the equally funky, chunky and rolling closing cut 'Running'. The EP's two other tracks, the late-night tech-house shuffle of 'The Stamp' and bassline-driven looseness of 'Stai Con', are also well worth a listen.

Review: Brazilian Fabe has been at the heart of the evolution of house and tech in recent years. His kinetic, high-impact sound has brought freshness to the new school and continues to do so now with this EP on the young but promising Les Enfant label out of Spain. 'Hyped By Light' is a perfect embodiment of his sound - garage-style percussive precision, clipped but bouncing kicks and great vocal samples. 'Jabba The Hot' is another one to sweep you off your feet, 'Heading To NL' is darker and more stripped back but no less potent and 'Pankow Plastic' shuts down with a little cosmic energy. Pure dancing tackle of the highest order.

Review: Blkmarket Underground Music Party Edits is a sub-label to the influential Blkmarket, an esteemed label and event series in New York. Contrary to what that catalogue number might indicate, this is actaully their second release and has Facets at the controls. First up is 'Computers' with its raw and snappy analogue drum sounds and late-night synth details. 'Time Of War' is another full-fat blend of analogue drum thump and driving synth motifs, 'Talk To Me' has crashing cold-wave synths and deadpan vocals and 'Paranoia' has loopy vocals and moody atmospheres for freaky dancing. 'Lies' and 'Dub To Destruct' shut down this varied and retro-tinged EP with jerking rhythms that will do plenty of damage.

Between You (extended mix) (6:17)
Review: The London-based band, known for their post-industrial fusion of live drums, synthesisers and noise, deliver a high-intensity release with 'Between You'. On Side-1, the original mix is a relentless, driving forceipowered by a pounding rhythm, heavy chords and a dynamic structure that builds with raw intensity. The track's weighty sound and electrifying energy make it a true floor-filler, perfect for dark, sweat-drenched dancefloors. Side-2's extended mix stretches the tension further, amplifying the track's industrial undertones and deepening its hypnotic pull. The expanded arrangement allows the rhythmic propulsion to breathe, enhancing its body-moving power. Blending elements of coldwave, darkwave and experimental techno, this record highlights the band's ability to craft visceral, high-impact electronic music that bridges the gap between raw post-industrial energy and contemporary club sound.

I Think I Like It (4:28)
Mars (3:55)
Review: For those too young to remember the days of glitch-house and electro-house at the turn of the noughties (think Herve, Switch, Claude Vonstroke etc), Fake Blood was one of the true masters of the style. He released a swathe of big records for Cheap Thrills and others, with the two tracks collected here - both of which date from 2009 - being the biggest. A-side 'I Think I Like It' is a superb example of the style, with the producer expertly cutting up a pleasingly silly and over-the-top disco-pop number and turning it into sweat-soaked, hands-aloft gold. 'Mars', meanwhile, gains its dancefloor power from a frankly filthy, mind-altering bassline-turned-lead-line, around which crispy drums, breakbeats and Mylo-esque synth stabs make their presence felt.

Review: Tried and trusted UK underground favourite Alex Falconer launches new label Ba Dum Tish here with more of his highly effective club cuts. As always he spans the spectrum and draws from house, garage and techno for this one with opener 'Twenty Three But Written As Numbers' bring sleazy low slung drums, garage swing and gun-finger rudeness. 'One For Codi' is a more tightly coiled percussive house jam and 'Ok Thursday' gets more dirty once more with a cheeky, clipped house vibe and big chord vamps. 'No Turn Unstoned' brings bubbly melodies to a smooth cruising house groove.

Review: Sound Metaphors keeps it as deep as ever with a reissue of this classic from Franco Falsini. It's a quality EP that opens with the mysterious and exotic synth colour of 'People In Orbit' with its dusty retro breaks and psychedelic feel. 'Un-Flanged Transition' is another edgy sound that has no real analogue - it's an intense astral adventure with ever-changing synth leas and a real sense of unease. 'Midnight Tremors' takes things down a notch and is a carefree cosmic house jaunt with mellow synth magic and 'Ray-Tracing Sauna' is another sun-baked closer with wonderful arps drifting up into the heavens.

Review: Those pesky Swedish pranksters Studio Barnhus always like to surprise and subvert with the music they make and release and it is fair to say we never expected to find FaltyDL on their well regarded label. It finds the accomplished New Yorker paying homage to deep house while also updating the classic template. 'Our House Is Barnhus' is run through with serene strings as the paddy drums uplifting you and sprinklings of percussion keep things classy. 'Gut Punch' is the one though - a steamy and deep cut that channels early Prescription and Pepe Braddock into something beautiful.
