Before that though they have commissioned some superb remixes of the lead single. One is from Four Tet, whom they say they have always loved for the "meditative but propulsive thing in his music. The restraint mixed with momentum." He pulls off that trick again here with a fine remix, and he also supplies an instrumental, then comes extended club and dub mixes of the original from Ben Watt and Bruno Ellingham.

Dauwd's 'Slam' is stripped back and pulses with acid and Daniel Avery's 'Bell' is languid, melodic and gorgeously serene techno. Willow's 'Willbush' is a skeletal minimal rhythm with some nice wobbly bass weight.

Review: Innervisions continue their exploration of house music's myriad sub-genres with this EP from Berlin-based Ede. The title of the record is instructive, as this breakthrough artist from the label's Secret Weapons series seeks to fuse the unmistakable sound of Detroit with an unabashed pop streak. The vocals are front and centre on these tracks, and they sound absolutely huge when strapped to a stadium-sized remix of 'Do My Thing' from the mighty Dixon on the A1. 'Your Love', 'When You Need It' and 'On My Mind' are equally powerful though, charged with those star-scraping synth lines which make Detroit techno such an eternally cherished sound.

Review: Yore's latest release is a little different. It features Chicago-based producer and sound designer Andrew Emil delivering his own 'dreamix' versions of a trio of little-known cuts. There's an epic, nigh on 10-minute revision of one his own productions as Change Request, 'Sunday's Best', on the flip - a gorgeously bumpin', summery and melodious chunk of life-affirming deep house sunshine with added US garage swing in the beats - plus two tweaks of cuts by (we think) lesser-known acts. His take on Artispure's collaboration with The Remedy, 'Chicago Underground', is a more spacey-sounding chunk of tactile deep house hypnotism, while Emil's take on Elbert Phillips and Andre Esput's 'Sunlight' is a superbly soulful, garage-influenced deep house workout that more than lives up to its title.

Dreamdreamr's emotive 'Zone 4 Booty Call' kicks off the A-side; it's a track that effortlessly fuses elements of deep house, trance, and r&'b, setting the the tone perfectly for an EP not bound by the borders of any genre. The titular 'Body Move' by SY is up next; a no-nonsense house chugger with flourishes of Italian 90s progressive and acid - a perfect modern interpretation of a foundational strand of club music. The A-side wraps up with one of 2023's most exciting prospects Papa Nugs and the vocoder infused, percussive, twisted jam 'Loosey Goosey'. The flip picks up right where the A-side left off with Elfenberg's 'Solarplexus', a cosmic, evolving and psychedelic interpretation of house. After, UK mainstay Absolute offers a 'Devastating Rhythm', a peak time techno floor filler that sounds like a Frankenstein mix of seminal imprints Dance Mania & D'jax-Up-Beats' output - proper gear. Review: For those who've yet to check out his productions, Envee is regarded as Poland's number one producer of underground dance music with soul. This EP sees his make his belated bow on soulful dance music institution Local Talk, with a little help from legendary UKG producer (and all-round studio don) Zed Bias. There are two Envee originals on show: 'Sum Luv', a gorgeous, sun-splashed, modern soul-meets-slow house head-nodder smothered in organic instrumentation and eyes-closed female vocals, and the jazz-funk-flavoured broken beat swell of 'Styrax'. Both are remixed in a club-ready style by Zed Bias. If you are one of those people then get your ears around this superb new various artists 12". YokoO & Zone+ offer one of the standouts with 'Once I Had It"]' which pairs subtly swirling pads with cuddly deep drum loops. Review: Four slices of deep house with a distinctly laid back, R&B flavour to them. 'Brandii' kicks us off in suitably relaxed manner, gorgeous harmonies and female and male voices adding to the irresistible groove and subtle layer of strings. 'Black Sunshine' is faster but retains the light touch approach, whereas 'Chuckii' is built around a sturdier four-to-the-floor kick, although the vocal content is still silky smooth. Closing track 'No!' is woozier and more dreamlike, with almost p-funk synth lines, though the Earl's arrangement leaves the percussive undercarriage that carries the track plenty of room to thrive in too.

Review: Ella Guru is a project from the south of Stockholm that features guitarist Tommy Galento (from associations such as OK Star Orchestra and Galento Sound Service) and well known groove machine Daniel Strand from Bike Thieves. Together they bring a lovely Scandi-cosmic twist to deep house grooves having first met back in 2021 at a jam amongst friends. They mix up some Balearic guitar sounds, break waves, fat basslines and rich layers of percussion with classic hose knowledge to make something that straddles many different worlds at once, from the beach bar to the basement club and back again.

Review: Leng Records' 59th release is something a little different: a very personal collection of largely obscure and hard-to-find gems, mostly created by European pop producers in the late '70s and early '80s, from artist and record collector Paul Beckett. Firmly Balearic and sun-soaked in tone, there's plenty to set the pulse racing throughout. For proof, first check Ray & John's 'Day By Day (Instrumental), which sounds like Please-era Pet Shop Boys reclining at a pool party in Rimini, before admiring the space rock/synth-pop fusion of 'Angelo' by Angel'o. Over on the flip, Beckett offers up three more slices of glassy-eyed goodness, with the loved-up deep synth pop of Angel and the fretless bass-sporting wooziness of Eggs Time standing out.

Review: Japan's consistently excellent Edit & Dub label is back with mrs of that sure fire dance floor heat. This latest missive opens with a brace of brilliance from Gino Dentie & The Family. 'Movin On' is as smooth as disco funk gets, with bubbling t0ms and syrupy synths over a slick rhythm section. 'Express' gets a little bit deeper. A meandering flute leads the way up top with flat footed kicks making you move. The flip has high speed cosmic disco funk in the form of 'Voodoo Man' and then more loose limbed sunshine on 'I'm Gonna Dance,' a heartwarming cut for sure.

Review: Cardiff-born DJ and producer Elkka nonetheless presents a 'DJ Friendly EP' here, reaffirming the need to treat DJs humanely and with respect. Review: EEE stands for East End Edits and beyond that, we know nothing about this white label and production outfit. So far they have seven up their own takes on Madonna, Depeche Mode and Kelis, St Germain stye deep house and smoky late night minimal. This is a one-track wonder on one side of wax and it is a thumping and steamy deep house cut with driving drums and swirling pads. A vocal sample is littered through as the crispy percussion adds texture. It's tasteful and well-designed but also set to do plenty of damage to the dancefloor.

Each one offers killer tech house material designed to get a floor bouncing but also hooked in with some smart samples. Review: Mule Musiq has been an ever-present in the electronic underground but has never gone out of favour in the way so many labels do after their initial rise to the top. This new outing for the New Year puts Kasper Bjorke together with El Agua Es Profound for two originals that come with two remixes. 'Pau' is the sort of elegant elecrtronic sound you expect of this label - serene synths and nice clean drums with subtle hooks. The Bella Boo remix bliss things out even further and then 'Andrea' brings some cheery piano chords to a breezy and sunny groove that is perfect for open air dancing under wispy clouds. There is some extra pace to the Longhair Offshore dub for busier dancefloors.

Review: Here comes the Booom!!! Edits label with another sublime selection of deep house burners. This third volume is from the artist who goes by the name of Earls Booom!!! Edits takes the form of four cuts titled 'NEP.' Th opener is awash with smoky pads and sombre chords over a mid-tempo and dusty groove, but things pick up on the second cut with its gorgeous r&b vocals swirling over warm and humid bass and drums as cosmic synth lines rise out of the mix. On the flip, there is a congo-heavy rhythm topped with a deft little r&b hook nice more and the closer brings more pumping grooves but still with a big heart. These are steamy backroom sounds of the highest order.

Review: Escort's 'Cocaine Blues' is undoubtedly a 21st century disco classic -a peak-time ready riff on Dillinger's 'Cocaine in the Brain' and People's Choice's 'Do It Anyway You Wanna' that has been a mainstay in DJ sets for the last 12 years. These fresh versions do a decent job breathing new life into a familiar favourite. John Morales does a good job of joining the dots between disco and house on his EP opening multi-track remix, while band-member JKriv adds a little more weight and spacey synth noises aplenty on his similarly fine rework. Review: Apparently made in tribute to the legendary Paradise Garage club some years ago, these two previously unreleased workouts are the work of Kenny Summit, Eric Kupper and the late, great Frankie Knuckles. Side A boasts the trio's near legendary (and previously unavailable) remix of Lou Rawls classic "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine". It's a wonderfully positive and life-affirming affair, with the three legendary producers wrapping echoing guitars, warming disco orchestration and Rawls' sublime lead vocal around a deliciously percussive Afro-house groove. The flip features another unseen and unheard gem from the vaults: a loose, groovy and positive soulful house wiggler featuring the seductive vocals of Yasmeen. Terrific stuff.

Review: Toolroom sits at the top of the tree when it comes to big room house music. Mark Knight's label has mastered the art of maximal sounds and this eighth volume of the Tooroom Sampler series is another one that will do plenty of damage. Essel's 'Sweat' is a rigid tech cut with stiff synths and libidinous vocals, then Shiba San and Ayarez get direct with shuffling tech house cut 'Twist It' complete with big skewed synths. Friend Within's 'Pilka' keeps the energy levels high with fizzing synth loops over textured drums and a fat bassline. Maur x Westend and Cami Bear close out with some brighter melodies to get hands in the air on 'Over.'

Review: Fresh from delivering a fantastic, club-focused album on Ninih (the robust 'Dwang'), Remco Hazewinkel AKA Eversines returns to Kalahari Oyster Cult for the first time in three years. He hits the ground running with opener 'Gaze', a moody and acid-saturated slab of nostalgic house-tempo techno full of foreboding motifs and psychedelic electronics, before wrapping winding TB-303 lines and dreamy pads around a rubbery bassline and elastic house beats on 'Fast Fall'. Over on the B-side, 'Affection Toward The Urban Environment' joins the dots between early 90s Dutch techno, Yorkshire bleep & bass and acid-flecked new beat, while 'Wavedash' is a bleep-sporting acid-electro shuffler that may well be the EP's standout moment.

Review: EEE is many things - a huge part of Yorkshire dialect, a rather fun party prescription (apparently) and also the name of a low key but high class label that deals in hand-stamped 12"s that pair fun with function. This 16th such outing is another testament to that. The A-side is a nice deep and dusty tech house cut with cheeky samples that hook you in, and the A-side also has just one track on it and it is built on a chunk y low end, peppered with hits and looping bass and topped with classic vocals Missy samples that you can imagine will do damage in Ibiza the summer.

The boss has been busy putting together a trio of new EPs for the first half of 2023 that showcases a wealth of Mid-West talent. House hero Boo Williams kicks off this one with his typically tight drum programming and party-starting synth work on 'Tickin Clock.' Eric Johnson keeps it raw, deep and loopy on 'Melodic Gruv' then Reggie Dokes brings his signature Atlanta house sound to 'Mother's Child' with its melancholic lead sax and 'End of Time' is a broken beat bliss out.

The boss himself Mark Knight kicks off with a collaborative tune with Crusy: 'Daddy Shhh' is loopy, tribal, full flavour tech with jumbled drums and lots of buffed metal. Huxley's 'All I Need' is one of the UK producers warm house sounds, a smart vocal brings a sense of pain over simple but effective beats. Essel's 'Lennon' then brings peak time energy with strobe-lit synth sequences and churning drums, and Leftwing: Kody, James Hurr & I Jah shut down with 'Music Is The Medication', a muscular bumper with dub-wise vocals.

Review: Toolroom Records are partly responsible for the recent upsurge in jackin' deep house in the early 2020's; this sampler record, the second in their compilations EP series, serves as yet another tour of their grand new deep house estate. Delusions of grandeur are expressed on 'You Are A God' - which, for a track so deitylike, measures itself with rather a lot of restraint - while 'Talking To Myself' contains a vocal sample that is so mouthy and infectious that we really are beginning to believe ourselves to have been possessed by Metatron. 'Mallet' swerves into tribal territory, while ESSEL's 'Try' could be a contender for dance-chart-topper, assuming its piano weaponry is effective enough at swaying the radio pluggers. Joyous stuff.
