D.Tiffany - "Sun Trip" (7:54)
Henry Hyde - "Every Day's A Good Day For A Swim" (6:18)
Review: The ever-charitable Needs project continues apace with another stunning cast of characters offering up their dancefloor creations to help a good cause - the environmentally-focused Cool Earth NGO. On this 12", Eris Drew delivers the uplifting breakbeat celebration of "See You In Snow", while Edward takes things deeper with the tripped out minimal house groove of "Mind Loop". D. Tiffany brings a particularly crafty approach to her own drum funk science on "Sun Trip" and Henry Hyde cools things down with the mellow, new age 2 step stylings of "Every Day's A Good Day For A Swim."

Review: Amsterdam's Makez bring their old school unfused house sounds to Adeen Records in collaboration with Balance Alliance on this fresh new 12" which also features a remix from UK mainstay Mr G. 'Do It' brings super smooth chords and a prickly deep house beat that will get any floor going. Then comes 'Close 2 Us' which is even better - lush and lazy chords are draped over pent-up deep house dynamics with gorgeous vocal coos and jazzy keys also bring extra heart and heat to the mix. 'Beat Of Life' is a more busy percussive sound and then comes 'Love You More' as remixed by the don Mr G who brings his signature smokiness and basement house vibes.

Review: Random Factor's 'On The Air' EP is a hugely sought-after classic by those who know. It came on Ralph Lawson's ever-reliable 20/20 Vision and now, as it turns 25 years old, he has decided it is the right time to get it remastered and reissued. 'On The Air' is first up on this fine EP from Carl Finlow and it has serene synths that bring to mind Detroit techno soul over pulsing bass and slick drums. 'Lockdown' has a raw vocoder vocal over punchy drums and twitchy synth stabs and 'Undercurrent' is another weapon that has more than withstood the test of time as it bumps along on funky drums and is overlaid with more playful synth patterns. 'Disconnect' is a crunchy and 8-bit closer with pixelated synths and screwy acid lines. Superb.

Review: First of all, wow, how did this one already turn a quarter of a century old? It still sounds as wildly inventive now as it did back then and is fully deserving of this reissue. '808 The Bassqueen' is a truly mesmerising sonic journey that pushes the boundaries of electronic music with Villalobos's trademark blend of minimal techno and experimental soundscapes. He crafts a hypnotic and immersive mix of intricate rhythms, pulsating basslines, and deft synth textures that defy categorization and showcase Villalobos's mastery of groove and his ability to captivate listeners with subtle yet powerful sonic manipulations. This is the sound of a true visionary at work.

Review: Argentina producer Juaan (Juan Fernandez) has gotten a lot of hype recently for his first handful of first releases. And from the sounds of his latest, he is living up to the hype and then some! The Placer EP is the first EP for the American Sarah Tonin records. Juaan's ability to create some killer electro, breaks and techno is evident right from the first sample of title track. His ability to take the recipe for early 90s and spin them into something futuristic again, is his calling card. It's really hard to tell what period these tracks are from. And to those in techno that means they have that staying timeless power that they look for in picking music. The energy in all these tracks is great for the dancefloor as well. Definitely music to make you dance. Hats off to Juann for being some unique and creating music that pushes the boundaries.

Review: Few labels do minimal as well as Trelik and in terms of artists, Edwards is also as good as they come right now. This perfect pairing opens up with the deeply alluring 'Time' with its woozy pads and smeared chords over warm and rubbery drums. It's a hypnagogic affair then 'Vacuum Tube' has a more menacing air thanks to the wispy and unsettling synth details and clunky hooks. 'Watch Out' brings a more spangled and rubbery rhythm that has colourful details peeling off the beats and last of all, 'Stream' ups the ante with some thudding deep house and widescreen ambient synth work.

Review: Label boss El Prevost makes a welcome return to No Speakers after it's been on something of a break. Thankfully the quality levels remain high here as he kicks off with 'Catastrophizing', a brilliantly bass-heavy cut with broken beats to make you sweat. On the flip, 'Landing' has a more inward sense of reflection with its fizzing synths and deep space atmospheres making an indelible mark. Last of all, the magic of Detroit looms large with a superb remix by Motor City mainstay Kyle Hall. His version of 'Landing' brings some jazzy melodic vibes and one of his trademark deep house and bumping grooves. This is another essential 12" from No Speakers.

Review: Italian tech house DJ and producer Bakked is back on the case with another sure shot for his Outban label. Bakked's focus lies on seedy, sinewy tech house informed by Italo and Giallo soundtracks, so there's plenty of ghoulish soundtrack poise and throbbing arp action on the likes of 'Almost Machine'. The synths are thick and gloopy, the drums boxy and brash, and there's all the peaks and troughs you could wish for from a modern dancefloor filler, making this the perfect demonstration of future-past freakery. Look out for the acid flex on 'Abitudine' and the slow tempo sleaze of 'Channel8', which will get the chugger crowd hot under the collar.

Review: Scale Factor is a new label about which we know nothing other than acclaimed French house producer Brawther is the man to kick it off. He takes things back to basics here with some club rocking but still deft and stylish club tools. 'Shire' opens up with spinning hi-hats and solid, thudding kick run though with some bleeping sci-fi synths. On the flip is the more wonky and unhinged 'Aferrafters' with vocal fragments and warped synths running through the slick house drums. Two essential jams for DJs and dancers alike from the cultured Frenchman.

Review: Sushitech is back with another of its sublime vinyl-only projects and this one focuses on the work of Dexter. There will be three 12"s in all that draw together some of the producer's finest moments. He is a truly cult figure amongst those who know and he served up a fresh take on tech, acid, dub and house between 1997 and 2004 when these tracks were first made - if you can find any of those original records prepare to pay loads for them, or else dive into Past Moves I. It has a brace of slick, tightly programmed cuts underpinned by rolling pads with lovely lo-fi pads up top. Heady stuff.

Review: Frame Of Mind has been one of the best techno and house labels in the past couple years hailing from the Netherlands. This is the second appearance for Synaptic Voyager on the label in total. 'Epoch Ten' exhibits a premier example of the quality ambient techno the label has released in recent years. Fans of As One, FBA, Stasis and Sensurreal are sure to gravitate toward this track in particular. The 90s Detroit vibe is here in many respects. 'Ne Plus Ultra' and 'Reverie' are perfect tributes to the lineage there. The robot funk in 'Milestone' is particularly exciting with this early 90s styled foray into UK techno while 'Parallax' gives off a heavy Innovator and early Warp label impressions. If you are a fan of ambient techno then this is a quick and easy pickup.

As ever the foundations are solid on the opener 'Passenger' - smooth drums and bass perfectly sit with one another, but this one really comes alive with the most impossibly subtle but inescapably uplifting little chords that suggest that no matter what shit you have going on in your life, things will be OK. It's a classic amongst many on this label. The drums hit hard, the reversed bassline burn goose old school cool and there gun finger salutes come thick and fast throughout this EP from Mance. 'Checkpoint' opens with the dusty drum shuffles and bulbous bass, then 'The Going Is Rough' is a little more soulful and sweet with its rolling basslines and silky pads. 'Beat 93' closes down with a seriously OG garage sound that takes you back to the mid-90s.

So, too is 'XXX' adding some great Chicago style claps with a great vox sample in "Get on up!". If you like Adonis's 'No Way Back' then you are sure to like that one(who doesn't?!'. For the second side the title track is a more eerie romp into the unknown wild. This track is magnetic! Closing out the EP is '2019' that almost sounds like something that should have been on Metroplex in 1985. Robot-funk of the upmost! This EP is some serious business. Since the start, fellow Sweden producer Dorisburg has been there from the start and has gone on to release on many other quality labels as well. Andakt creates a shimmering and beautiful hazy atmosphere while the groove is equally as magical. This peak time track will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Epic! 'Grottloop' is a bit more grimy in the trenches but rewarding and slightly euphoric feeling. A great dichotomy of feelings surrounds both of these tracks and that's typical of Aniara overall. They take things to a higher level on their releases thanks to their band of strong producers. This EP is a smash!

Glitzy sonic skylines come portrayed on the likes of 'Euro Night' and 'Eternity', with hints of Italo and electro-pop conjuring mental glimpses of high-end fashion houses and handbags, while 'Crashy' revels in a skilful use of speed garage swing reminiscent of MJ Cole's production approach; finally, closer 'Lion, Ne Kaufen' indulges a muted chord sequence for a eventidal rave vibe.

For this edition, 'Singing' cleverly picks out a few lines from Moloko's 'Sing It Back' and turns it into dancefloor devastation. This is sure to be a big hit worldwide. How can it not be?! Things change up quickly with the slow acid wiggle of 'Elastic' that has us comparing it to legendary slow acid tracks like from Jammin Unit. For the second side, 'Sonic Minds' might just be the floor filler of the lot while '2K' is the dancefloor workout monster for the house heads. If 'We Rise' is any indication, Sin Sistema will be a label to buy on the spot.

Review: The Delaphine label has been so strong since it started releasing music just over a decade now. SAM is such a strong producer; we almost feel like you might be sick of hearing us tell you how good he is. 'What Defines You As A Human' leads the charge on the A-side, a pumping burner oozing with quality. 'Lundeborg Winds' adds a few quirky bleeps and squiggles to a really smooth landscape of deep house business. The great things about Delaphine is you never know if you are going to get some deep house or maybe some techno, electro or ambient. But you know it will be quality so you buy it blindly anyways. Sure enough, 'Dive' haas the entire B-side to itself as the techno banger of the bunch. We really like the big Hardfloor type acid sound on this one. Delaphine and SAM always come though!

Review: tINI has always been at the forefront of tech house, often with her own party brand, as well as killer productions and engaging sets at some of the scene's most tasteful parties. Here she steps up to the fledgling Mood Waves label for The View, and EP that finds her stretching herself into all new territory once more. 'Welcome Luz' is crunchy, stomping cosmic tech with sci-fi motifs. 'EX-PECT' has whimsical pads paired with more silvery and metallic drum sounds and after the more mechanical grace of the a-side, 'What's Her Name?' gets loose with rubbery bass and bendy synth leads while '2020' shuts down with some downtempo post club trippiness.

Review: Past Moves III is the final instalment of the vinyl-only series served up by Berlin's ever-well-curated and cultured Sushitech label. It is another essential 12' that packs in plenty of heat from the long-time UK favourite. His records are hard to find and expensive when you do and this collection highlights some of his superbly blended acid, dub, tech and house grooves from back between 1997 and 2004. On this one, you will find a pair of weighty, warm, and dubbed out tech cuts with bounce in the drums and Detroit soul in the pads. Timeless stuff.

Review: Evasive Records are still going strong after an initial founding in 1999. Run by DJ and producer Rob Pearson, a staple figure of Southeast London's tech house scene at its underground apogee, Evasive's take on the style is an authentic, diversive example of the genre's truest origins. Lovable Rogues is Pearson in collaboration with fellow tech pioneer Lee Humphreys; this is their second EP together, a special follow-up release (now reissued), not least since it logically follows on from the very EP that launched Evasive, 'Look Into Your Eyes / Chica / Twilight Manoeuvres'. Made by the pair in the deepest rural German sticks, the 'Interger' EP betrays tech house's early indebtedness to broken beat, acid jazz and electro, the B2 'Thursday' coming as the tricky favourite here.

Review: Thisisnegentropy's fourth outing looks all the way to Bangkok's own DOTT who runs the More Rice Record store in Bangkok and has studio skills to spare. He heads down a minimal path here with 'Dem Swing' a kinetic mix of dry hits and well swung kicks and tripped-out FX. 'Mind Designer' then gets deeper, with more lovely hits this time landing on tight drum patterns that are detailed with whirring synths and chopped-up vocals. The flip side is taken up by 'Trouser In The Heat', a more manic cut with dense percussive layers and edgy synths that never settle and always keep you guessing. Another fine statement from this top Thai talent.

Review: Mega eerie techno from Germany's own Michael Melchner, proving techno can indeed be done differently, not least when its groceries are in season. Active since 2008, springboarding his career with the label and masters of German uniformity and drab, Cargo Edition, Melchner has since flown the nest into further-afield aerations with Paragram, Bloop Recordings and now, Different Times. 'New World Supermarket' truly sounds to be a grim sort, with the title track, together with the ensuing 'The Voyeur', 'Anatomicouture', and 'Kolonne Null', painting a rather anxious, suspenseful and brutalist picture of future grocery shopping. The closing track is something of a cathartic let-up compared to the first three, its pace relatively downtempo and its choice of samples roomy and sci-fi, though the creep factor still ever-so-slightly remains.

Pily opens the record up with some sneaky acid and sizzling 909 drums set to an electro MO. Review: Minimal production/DJ master Ricardo Villalobos enjoys a renown that lends him just about enough credo to release anything he likes whenever he likes and this latest pair of remixes of Paul Desenne's (in collaboration with Alonso Toro and Pedro Vasquez) 'Isiminaimanin' - the lead track from his gemlike Venezuelan gem of an album, Alzheimer - is a case in point. A furtive legend of the Venezuelan folk underground, Alzheimer, which was released back in 2001, expressed Desenne's talents and tastes, expansive outwards from his own Latin cello home-stretch and into further-afield wildernesses such as the Venezuelan cuatro (small guitar), Hawaiian bamboo clarinet, and electric cello - all instruments in constructing totemic, tribal, conceptual flights of fancy. It's this eclecticism on which Villalobos evidently feeds, with his two mixes expressing both fast and slow minimal-tech iterations of Desenne's mysticism.

'Vision Error' is a refined club tool bristling with metallic energy and a deadly amount of low end presence, while 'Mirage' toys with hypnagogic whisps of melody and tripped out samples. Now he's minting a new label called Odd One Tape out of Italy, and bringing his playful, synth-rich sound with him. There's a nod to Italo and 80s electro in the sampling and throbbing, analogue groove of 'Rhythmistic', while 'Bass Jam' tips more towards the early 00s electro house boom a la Tiefschwarz and Tomas Andersson. 'Urban Whispers' has a more jackin' flavour with some low down sub freakiness thrown in for good measure, and 'Binary Technologies' brings the heat on the B2 with a powerful arpeggio and hard-slapping drums.

Review: A genuine meeting of minds here, as rising star (and Real Gang Records founder) Danny Miller joins forces with long-serving deep, dubby and techy house maestro Jay Tripwire. What's on offer is undeniably alluring: a three-track salvo built around deep, hypnotic, sub-heavy grooves and wonderfully wayward and wonky electronics. The trippy and mind-altering nature of the duo's combined sound is best exemplified by A-side 'Cut001', where lo-fi bleeps, echoing analogue electronics and ghostly chords wrap around crunchy machine drums and deep sub-bass. They opt for an even more sparse, druggy and dubbed-out tech-house sound on 'Cut002', before joining the dots between bleep, Paul Woolford's 'Erotic Discourse' and Tripwire's dub-fired house sounds on 'Cut003'.

Originally released on the cult label Robs records in 1995, Kilowatt's 'The Last EP' is finally getting the much deserved repress. Included is the wicked acid banger 'Loose End' which is a diamond of the mid-90s UK techno sound. 'The End' is another standout track on this release that gives us great memories of all the exciting IDM related techno going on in the mid 90s, with echoes of 808 State from the late 80s too! Sometimes you aren't sure why a record's been reissued, but this one is definitely worthy. Expect these copies to go fast once the old heads hear about this reissue!

He lands on My King Is Light here with a nice and stylish EP that brings dub and minimal to his usual tech sounds. 'Hoarfrost' is an icy and frictionless opener rippled with soft melodies that soothe the soul. 'Hoarfrost' (Meditation dub) is a beatless lullaby, and 'Point Of View' then brings a little more drive but still has plenty of depth to its designs. 'Breeze' is the best of the lot - a nice Bluetrain-style dub-out for the afters.

It is now on the former's Constant Sound that they appear with three fresh new collaborative cuts aimed squarely at the floor. 'The Wine Glass' is most optimal for dense crowds not worried about a little sweat and perhaps not enough foot space on the dancefloor. In fact, they love that! This is that kind of house music where you get happily drawn to the floor. 'Heal Dealer' adds a bit of acid and a beautiful underlying melody that is perfect for eyes closed listening moments. 'Doremi' is the ideal B-side as the deeper side to things, then the title track finishing off in style. Ali brings a great balance of techno and house to his sound. 'Centuconcas' welcomes one contribution each from Claudio PRC, Agi Thoriu, Andrea Ferlin, and Jarpp. Each artist is caught exercising a deeper-into-their-own-pysches dub flavour than usual; PRC's sonic epigraph 'Uraki' is an impressive demonstration, unconsciously driving its sticky chording ricochets unto semi-conscious ears; Thoriu's 'Aressi' follows up with a neat fusion, yielding something between ambient future garage and a deep tribal entrainment; Ferlin's 'Hydra' is far more muted and operational in mood, veering more on lo-fi tech; and to close, Jarpp summons his inner MPC for 'Su Passu Turrau', taking its namesake from a traditional Italian line dance (but in actuality, the track sounds like nothing of the sort, unless we entertain the idea that this is the soundtrack to a line dance beamed in from the future...)

Review: Brixton-based David Agrella returns after the success of his Baby Ford-remixed 'Modulo 02', with two tracks and a nifty remix of each to boot. 'I Felt It Coming' is a heady peak time track, with Underground Resistance-style drum machine handclaps and an addictive synth hook and all the suspense and drama of a Stephen King horror tale. Domenico Rosa's remix turns that frown upside down, converting it into a perky, cheeky and altogether lighter workout that nevertheless will keep feet on the dancefloor. 'Reflexion Nocturna' (Priori remix) kicks off the B-side with fizzling dub techno stealth, subtly embellished with a smidgeon of 'Funky Drummer' breakbeat, while Agrella's original closes proceedings with head down, echo-set Leftfield-style prog house skank. Not for nothing is this chap known as one of the techno scene's fastest rising new names.

Theme For What
Geek Groove Odyssey
Out Of Mood
Review: Pressure Traxx secures the sounds of acclaimed minimal master and Romanian mainstay Dan Andrei on this fine new 12", Clockworks. The title track opens up and is coarse and rich in texture, with slapping hits taking centre stage while languid guitars slowly garner your attention. 'Theme For What' is another unusual one, this time with trippy melodies and tumbling drum loops, while 'Geek Groove Odyssey' layers up pulsing bass and bleeping sonar synths into a serene cosmic trip. 'Out Of Mood' is another tense tech cut with edgy synths keeping you in suspense as the dark drums march on.

Sunrise In Ukraine
Rosco
Review: Partisan is back in action with more of that crafty electro-tinged minimal pushed by label founder Anthea in her razor-sharp DJ sets. Ildec is at the helm for this new release on the label, employing his considerable array of synths and applying them to punchy, infectious workouts for the club while maintaining a necessary sense of fun. ‘003000009’ is a cheekily spooky cut primed for those moments you want to creep the dancefloor out a little, while ‘Sunrise In Ukraine’ is a bouncy, acidic joint to get bodies jacking deep into the night.

Stripped
Stripped (M Groove mix)
Review: The latest on Djebali's label comes from M High, who knows exactly how to step up to the flavour of Parisian minimal tech house Djebali has made his name on all these years. 'Try To Make' is a perfect opener, riding on a sweetly swung groove with heavy, subby bass down low and Mood II Swing style dub chords chopping in up top. 'Othirty' is a more delicate affair with some psychedelic sound sweeps which really elevate the track into exciting new realms - something which could send an after hours dance spiralling. 'Stripped' locks back into that heads-down bounce from the first track and then the 'M Groove' mix of the track slips some extra funky percussion into the blend to make it a sassy strutter for the ages.

Zaha Zhivai EP

Minube - "Zaha Zhivai"
Minube & Rebreanu - "Bro Disch Tut"
Minube & D I N - "Wormhole"
Minube & Andrey Djackonda - "Can't Stop The Time"
Review: Purple Print's musical universe expands once more here with a ninth outing on wax and a fine various artists selection to mark the occasion, with Minube appearing on each of these collabs. It's a wonky and afterparty-tinged minimal jaunt from him in solo mode to open up with as 'Zaha Zhivai' gets you locked into a slinky groove. He then inks with Rebreanu for the marching bleeps and squeaks of 'Bro Disch Tut' and with D I N he makes 'Wormhole', a dry and dusty final tech shuffler before a fine work with Andrey Djackonda in the form of the abstract funk of 'Can't Stop The Time' shuts down.

What's That (Refix) (7:05)
Review: It's hard to keep up with the hugely prolific output of UK don Burnski and his several different labels these days but one thing is for sure - Pilot keeps on serving up the goods. For its 15th release, the tech and minimal focussed label welcomes Robin Graham who opens up with the lively and colourful synths of bustling groover 'Check Me Out'. 'Spark Plug' is more business-like - the dry drums and hits overlaid with retro chord stabs that amp up the crowd and 'For You' then gets loose and funky with some twisted and sugar synths over garage-flecked beats and 'What's That' (Refix) offers a jumbled percussive sound full of dynamism.
