Originally released in 1992 as an Italian ambient house track, 'Night Passage' has been resurrected with identical tracklist as the original, which should delight fans.The Underground Radio Mix kicks off the release with its deep house rhythm and nostalgic piano melodies, capturing the essence of the original while infusing it with a contemporary groove. 'Fast City' adds a nice touch of Balearic flair to the EP, offering a deeper and more atmospheric vibe. On the flip side, the Magic Club Mix of 'Night Passage' elevates the track to peak-time dancefloor status with its infectious energy and pulsating beats. Review: He may be based in St Petersburg, a city not known for being a sun trap, but Mikhail Khvasko AKA A Vision of Panorama is incredibly good at making warming, summer-ready Balearic beats. Further proof, should it be needed, arrives via his latest EP for Cala Tarida Musica. In its original form, 'Unconditional' is a terrific slab of Balearic nu-disco/Balearic house fusion - all rubbery bass guitar, smooth bits, gorgeous chords and twinkling melodies. It comes backed with a breezier, breakbeat-sporting 'dub vinyl edit' (an even sunnier and more attractive affair) and an 'instrumental' pass of the more house-centric take. Rounding off another fine EP is 'Shall We', a colourful fusion of jangling house pianos, attractive keyboard sounds and squelchy synth-bass underpinned by a box-fresh, post-electro boogie beat.

Review: You always know what you are going to get from Johannes Albert and that is well-crafted house music with a traditional undercurrent but nothing overly slavish to the history. 'Uhh I Like Your Style' is a nice crosier with a melodic bassline and smooth chords that effortlessly sweep you up. 'The Crust Song' is more laidback and dubby, 'Upstanding' then brings some party vibes with the swirling pads and fist-pumping analogue kicks and 'Maintain The Vibe' shuts down with some US garage flair and nice choppy vocal stabs.

Review: Voice Notes is a new imprint run by London underground veteran Toby Tobias with Alphonse. A five track various artist EP, Voice Notes 002 is a time-honoured memorial for its sister label London Housing Trust, that they shut down a few years ago after 10 releases. Featuring tracks by label boss Tobias who delivers some emotive electro on 'Streets Of Gold', his evil twin Alphonse on the UK flava of 'Rujac', plus introducing Dance with the dub techno deconstruction of 'Amber', Rodney Bennett with the classic Stateside deep house of 'Palm Sunday' and Pyramids of Space with the downbeat IDM journey 'Quantis'.

Review: This third volume of instrumentals continues the faultless Isle of Jura label's deep dive into dub versions and beyond. Side one takes in references from UK street soul and reggae and features two late-'80s tracks by Howard Hill with machine-led rhythms, rudeboy reggae skank and soulful pads. Protek's 'I Love to Dance With You' is a proto-house gem featured in a Jura Soundsystem mix and here it gets a loving re-edit by The Nightlark. Side B includes an instrumental-driven track with spacey FX from The Cool Notes' and Ilija Rudman's 'Dub 4 Love' which is a knowing nod to acid house's golden era.

Review: Fresh deep garage house stylings from B From E, who's able to demonstrate they know how to do it just right. The Danish producer/DJ is evidently a treasured fixture of their label Happiness Therapy, who specialise in this kind of stuff, but rarely find so much talent or passion for the styles condensed into a single six-tracker. Topping up the label's 'Just At Night' series, cuts like 'Nirvana' and Niles Cooper's remix of 'Just At Night' and are shuffly piano-housers on the emotive side, recalling the tearjerking and dub-dued feelings of early house artists like the Wamdue Kids, but with an arguably much defter 4x4-garage flair.

Review: This glorious package of remixes of the BaianaSystem band draws together contemporary Brazilian sounds with plenty of modern dance floor flourishes. A?gua is the standout track from their 2018 LP and is a poem to the bands native Bahia people with the legendary Antonio Carlos & Jocafi. It is perfect material to rework for different settings and deep house don Jimpster does that with his fat bottomed, tropical remix then stripped back dub. Brazilian producer Diogo Strausz joins forces with RNT boss JKriv on the flip for a more drawn out and cosmic exploration that pumps up and down on weight bass and that lovely loose jumble of percussion.

Review: Balam's new single 'Caravana Planetaria' has already been widely tested on dance floors across the world and has reportedly never failed to make a mark. First up on the 12" is 'Caravana Planetaria' (club mix) which rides on raw drums with slapping hits and has darkened vocal loops adding the character next to spangled pads. Review: Celebrated composer, producer, techno talent and ambient craftsman John Beltran is a real Detroit don and now he is back on one of the city's own labels, Motor City Wine, with Volume 4 of Back To Bahia on 7". This one finds him going even deeper than before, starting with 'Laguna', which will soon uplift you with its Afro-Brazilian drums and live bass from James Simonson next to lush keys. 'Just Beyond The Sun' then gets fully Balearic with its mix of sultry trumpet, shuffling and Latin-tinged rhythms and wispy cosmic chords. A real delight.

Review: The original only dropped last year but it soon sold out so here comes a reissue of this gem from Simoncino, known for his nostalgic house vibes, in collaboration with Benedek, a Los Angeles-based producer whose music blends atmospheric synths with elements of Balearic, proto-house, and deep boogie. Review: B2 Recordings is a label run by Greek talent Bengoa as a platform to offer up his own diverse sounds. Here he serves up a new single featuring Pan that is sublime, seductive and deep. The vocals you will recognise from a classic pop hit but here they get all resung in an even more libidinous fashion. The drums roll, and the percussion is loose, and bright but soft chord stabs heighten the mood. Flip it over for an instrumental version of 'Thelxis' that is all about the late-night grooves. Two stylish sounds for romantic moments.

Review: Jurgen Paape has a brilliantly characterful sound and wrote one of our favourite silly records in 'Ofterschwang' some 13 years ago (go check it out, it's brilliant.) We're glad to hear some new music from the long time Kompakt legend and co-founder and once again it's not what you would expect. 'Allein' is a downbeat piece with oriental melodies and gently plucked strings over warm bass. It's not for the club, that is for sure, but the flip side version 'Allein In Italien' sure is. This one is a chugging and brit Italo disco number with retro 80s synth sounds and plenty of joyous grooves.

Review: Anorax has got a vital 10" here featuring a stone cold classic Balearic house tune from Don Carlos in two different mixes. First is the Paradise mix which is as Ibiza as house music gets - the swirling pads, the subtly joyous feeling in the piano chords, the blistered bassline. It all immediately transports you to the White Isle and gazing out to see as the sun sets and the party ratchets up a gear. On the flip is a Lute Mix which brings some more mellifluous melodies and makes the drums a little more bouncy. Both are brilliant.

Review: Don Carlos should by now be known to most house music crate-ologists as Carlo Troja from Verase, Italy -not Euvin Spencer from Kingston town. Alas, confusion still runs rampant over the ambiguity surrounding the Don Carlos name; if only they'd heard just how great this new EP from the former North Italian nuff-sayer truly was, they'd never forget the difference, of course! 'Italian Paradise' is a fresh, still dripping-wet house EP out via Groove Culture; its lightweight organ triplets, electric piano smears, and lens-fogged sunglass strings are what makes it *it*: a more than suitable release for hammock skygazing and/or wooly garment shedding.

Review: Since making her production debut last year, Courtney Clarke AKA CC: Disco has released a handful of inspired and colourful singles which the boundaries between styles. The Lisbon-based Aussie is at it again here. She begins with the sun-soaked ambient shimmer of intro track 'Feel The Peak', where decidedly Balearic classical guitar flourishes catch the ear, before heading towards peak-time dancefloors on the wide-eyed dancefloor synth-pop flex of 'Touch The Vibe', which sounds Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe after a fistful of happy pills. She lays down another atmospheric interlude before going darker and moodier on the psychedelic nu-disco throb of 'Me Gusta Is Dead (Period Pain Mix). The new beat-meets-proto-trance throb of 'Yes Papi (Miami Daddy Theme)' completes a fine EP.

Review: We're promised Mellow Magic and that's precisely what we get, across four tracks emerging from disparate corners of the globe but united in a common mission to provide beats that work on the more relaxed end of the dancefloor. Belgian duo Charlotte & Reinhard of Rheinzand fame kick things off with a slow motion Balearic version of a well known 80s MOR classic. Ollie Loudon's 'L.M.T.' finally makes it to vinyl after long being a secret weapon in Gratts' DJ sets, where handclaps and languid strumming meet a gentle but infectious groove. Flip it over for the more tracky affairs, as Japan's Lily Ko makes an impressive debut with 'Pure Rubber', an original mix of disco foundations and always snazzy but never showy 80s synth play. Melbourne's Biancolato finishes things off with understated deep house shuffling that adds just a touch jazzy keys and dreamy, wispy pads.

Review: As her releases for Aus and fantastic DJ Kicks mix have proved, Cinthie Christl knows a thing or two about classic-sounding, peak-time ready house music. It's little surprise, then, to discover that her Heist Recordings debut is full to bursting with nostalgic, retro-futurist treats. She begins by doffing a cap to the dreamy chords, jazzy synth-bass and rushing piano stabs of turn-of-the-90s Italo-house on 'Won't U Take Me', before reaching for more sparkling, life-affirming riffs on the marginally more driving (and accurately titled) 'Piano Heaven'. Review: Ibiza legend and all round well respected industry man Chris Coco is back with more of his seaside sounds. This time his Mediterranean magic is cast over 'La Guitarra' which as the title hints has Flamenco style acoustics (from Micko Roche) with tropical house drums and heartfelt synths. There is a pair backed and delicious dub also, and then modern disco don Rune Lindbaek comes through with a mesmeric take that is laidback and lush in its design. Last of all is Daniel Braca with a Deep In Brooklyn remix thing brings some fine Latin house styles.

Review: Colkin from Raw Soul and Mauke Club sets the tone on this new FUTUR compilation, which has been curated by Benedikt Meger with a spherical acid house meditation. Peter Seiler's track, a standout from the reissue of his debut album Flying Frames, features Sheryl Hackett's soulful vocals and merges song structure with jazz improvisation. Eoism from Pulse Drift, Undersound, and Inch By Inch delivers low-swung electro flavours perfect for sunset vibes while the B-side opens with Voertuig of Tonal Oceans and Cobra Club who presents a seriously raw acid jam followed by an experimental, jazzy piece, reminiscent of the 90s downtempo era. Review: This 12", a third release from the freshly minted (and relatively mysterious) Private Post imprint, arrives with little or no information about either the EP or the artist behind it, Conny. We think (though it has not been confirmed) that it's the same Conny who put out a fine EP on Krystal Klear's Cold Tonic imprint back in 2018. Either way, opener 'Bongo Groove' is attractive, undulating and dancefloor-ready in equal measure, with heady hand percussion, layered drums, marimba melodies and new age bells rising above a deep, warming bassline and metronomic kick-drums. On side B, he delivers a genuinely revolutionary rework of Steve Reich's American minimalism classic 'Music For 18 Musicians', wrapping elements of that outstanding piece around lo-fi, slow-motion hip-hop beats and trippy electronics.

Review: Dan Piu is a master of minimal sounds whether leaning more towards house or techno. For this latest one on Birds out of Chile, he opens up with some nice balmy pads and hip-swinging claps under tiny 80s keyboards. It's whimsical and dreamy then 'Late Night Beef' picks up things a little with some more driven drums but plenty of celestial synths and 'Ganas De Verte (feat Natalia)' is another balmy and spaced-out minimal house sound for hi-fidelity systems. 'Kammgarn' shuts down with the most direct sound of the lot and some nice dub undercurrents.

Review: Glenn Davis' first outing on F*CLR Music, 2018's "Body & Soul EP", was something of a slept-on gem: a four-track collection of warm, groovy and musically intricate deep house capable of warming the cockles of even the stoniest of hearts. If anything, this belated follow-up is even better. "Namida (Tears Of Happiness)" is both superb and sublime: a spacey chunk of jazz-flecked futurist deep house rich in Latin-tinged drums, Detroit style sci-fi synths and chords that are so positive and life-affirming that you might want to marry them. Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris don the Afrikanz On Marz alias to deliver two top-drawer remixes: a decidedly cosmic, intergalactic "real" disco remake (the "remix") and an even more spacey, stripped-back "Dub". The latter is almost as inspired as Davis' original, which is saying something.

Review: JKriv & Co. at Razor N Tape serve up possibly their biggest release yet, if this one is anything to go by. The first edition in the label's brand spanking new Family Affair series features the pairing of legends Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca on 'Days Of A Better Paradise' kicking off the A side, before Saucy Lady's late night boogie-down biz on 'Passport To My Love'. Flip over and you're treated to a seriously lo-slung cosmic disco dub on Misiu's 'Love Me Do' and finally Clive From Accounts tells it straight up on the acid jazz joint 'It's Not That I Don't Care'.

Review: Whoever is behind the Discotecas series has certainly got access to some seriously good re-edits. As with its predecessors, volume six in the series lands with no info about the identity of the editor (or editors) involved. Whoever it is, they've done a bang-up job - as inspired opener 'Perceptive', a deliciously dubby and spaced-out take on a hybrid electro/proto-house gem from the mid 1980s, proves. The retro-futurist fun continues on 'Kazbah', a fine revision of a brilliantly odd, breakbeat-fuelled Arabic acid record, while flip-side opener 'Bass Instinct' sits somewhere between bleep & breaks and early speed garage. Closing cut 'Ask a Dream' is arguably the best cut of all: a sublime slab of saucer-eyed early deep house of the kind that should probably be listened to as the sun comes up.

Review: Discotecas kicks off a new label devoted to tidy disco edits. This one opens up with the brilliantly sleazy 'Disco Steel' which is all about the rickety drums and filthy bass down low. It's one that is sure to work the club into a real peak time lather. There is a strong Blaze-style deep house vibe to 'Love to the World' with its low-slung beats and bass and snaking bassline overlaid with seductive spoken words. The vibe completely flips for 'Any Day Disco' which brings tropical vibes, Latin flair, wild percussion and a shuffling samba rhythm to close things down in colourful fashion. A fine first EP of edits.

Review: Marking the sixth release for Balearia Records comes this four-track 12" single 'Playa d'en Bossa', a cosmic house shuffle set amongst the stars as drums rumble and drift about amongst the airy ambience. To complement the DJ Fede offering is three extra servings from their Italian peers, the Baldelli & Dionigi rework that directly follows being extraterrestrial contact that Fede's original voyage has resulted in. Rattling bass with synths crossing paths intermittently, set in an undeniably retro-futurist soundscape. Track three takes a lightspeed trip straight back to earth, calling upon the warehouse rave with its controlled techno channelling sprinkled amongst laid-back downtempo grooving. Track four sends us off with a Claudio Tosi Brandi vocal edit with deep house leanings that's sure to be a favourite with listeners.

Review: DJ Fede has our minds turning to warmer climates, longer days and sun-kissed parties not only with the artwork but also the sounds of his new 12" on Balearia. 'Santa Eularia Des Riu' is the one original single and is a delightfully deep, dreamy sound with muted sax lines up top, chords that ripple and melt away and organic percussion that brings that 70s hint of Ibiza hedonism. A Midnight dub mix ups the pace only slightly, then the Jovonn Forest remix brings a subtle deep house dynamism to proceedings before the Atmospheric Sunset version cuts utterly loose and lays back gazing up at the flame-red sky.

Review: These two classy producers, the former Norwegian and the latter from Switzerland, team up for a raw, heartfelt slab of underground house on Sex Tags UFO. Fuelled by weekly live jam sessions and arranged with pure instinct at Casa de Fett, this four-tracker feels organic, impulsive and gloriously unpolished i house music as a feeling, indeed. The opening cut hits immediately with a heavy bass presence, a jacking 909, swirling pads and an irresistibly uplifting melody. It's simple, efficient and laser-focused on the dancefloor's emotional core. Track two eases the vibe into a sunrise groove, weaving a classic Ibiza guitar into its dusty hardware pulse i loose, warm and full of promise. Flipping over, the third track dips even deeper. It's sentimental yet driven, with shuffling percussion and dreamy pads creating a bittersweet late-night atmosphere. The final track is the EP's toughest i a rough-edged acid house burner that brings grit and urgency without losing the duo's charmingly off-kilter touch. Throughout, DJ Sommer's slick studio craft and Burger Man's wonky sensibility merge into something greater than the sum of their parts.

Review: The latest 12" from long-running Sahko offshoot Keys Of Life is the first of two split 'Balearic' releases from Sex Tags man DJ Sotofett and SUED co-founder SVN.. Sotofett's "Current 82" is a thing of rare beauty; an ambient house inspired chunk of lucid, mid-tempo dreaminess full of fluid chords, subtle, loved-up melodies and early Italian deep house bottom end. SVN continue the deep theme whilst doffing a cap to techno on flipside "Dark Plan 5". Their chords and pads are every bit as life-affirming as Sotofett's - even if they are a touch on the bittersweet side - but the accompanying up-tempo rhythm has a more ready-made dancefloor feel. Either way, both tracks are superb.

Simply one of the finest and most loved-up house records of all time, it sounds as magical now as it did way back in 1991 - as this reissue proves. You get all three mixes from the original 12" in remastered form: the much-played 'Paradise Mix', a perfect blend of undulating acid bass, gorgeously dreamy chords, bouncy piano riffs and sax lines; the atmospheric, slowly building brilliance of the sublime 'Sax Ambient' version; and the organ-rich, woodwind-sporting Italo-house chunkiness of the 'Flute House Mix'. Review: The Not An Animal label, which rose out of the "debris left uncleaned from London's infamous Bad Passion parties" arrives at release number 20 here and a fine one it is too from Donald's House and DJ Chrysalis. They open up with the prickly percussive prog of 'Pound Bend' with its warped lines and glistening snares. The Apiento remix is a snappy one with more synth patterns layered in before 'A Curious Warmth' strips it back and gets a little more deep and dubby with a mix of abstract sounds and aching vocals. 'Tingler Ring' closes down with a Balearic late night feel.

Review: Miami's Dancefloor Records, founded by British expat Jeffery Collins, looked to the growing club sounds emanating from Chicago and NYC and this series of reissues on Emotional Rescue concentrates on the label's early releases. From 1991 originally, Eighth Ray is said to be a project by a group of musician friends who went on to release under various pseudonyms. 'Axis Of Love' is the zeitgeist of a golden era in Italo house sounds, emotional and uplifting to the max. Over on the flip, the spaced-out and bumpin' NYC house influence on '8th Ray' has a sound that many modern producers try to emulate - massive bassline on this one so be warned!

Review: Leipzig-based Eira Haul takes his tech house sound forward with a fine outing on genre-specialists RAND Muzik here. 'Pocari Sweat' manages to combine the stuff, compelling drums of tech with more balmy and silky synths that bring great dynamics to the groove. It's spaced out and pacey then 'Tectona' kicks on with some bouncing bass and kick combos, sci-fi motifs and smart vocals worked in to bring the soul. 'Root Synergy' zips along with a sense of cosmic space travel that can easily get you locked in and zoned out and then 'Beach Haze' shuts down with a more heady, deep vibe, tropical synth details and a steamy atmosphere for late-night back rooms.

Review: Blair French is the next quality artist to make their debut on the increasingly vital MotorCity Wine imprint out of Detroit. He brings hints of Balearic as well as signature smoky deep house from the 313 to his work here. 'Ancestarians' (Physical Mix) also has pan-African influences, jazzy melodies and rich organic percussion while the Spiritual Mix is all about going deep into ambient bliss. 'Champagne Kiddie Pool' then looks even deeper into the musical niches of South America with dembow rhythms overlaid with lively claps and cosmic chords. Last of all is 'Sandbox Fossils with driving bass from James Simonson and guitar from Ryan Gimpert.

Review: We don't know much about the freshly minted Worm Records, but we can tell you that proceeds from the imprint's debut release will be donated to the Livetolove campaign, which raises funds for food banks. The EP itself is a corker, with a mix of rising stars and established heads providing genuine dancefloor goodness. Bristol-based Gallegos kicks things off with 'Rockin', a deliciously dreamy fusion of Balearic deep house loveliness and snappy, Chicago house-influenced machine drums, before long-serving producer The Mole goes deeper, smoother and jazzier and the wonderfully tactile 'Festern'. Over on side B, Tartan Records chief drops the extra-percussive, off-kilter drum workout 'Booster', while Ruf Dug drops a previously unheard rework of his Italo-disco inspired fave 'Manctalo Beach'. Top stuff!
