Review: By the late 60s, The Rolling Stones had solidified their claim as the 'World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band.' As the grittier, blues-driven counterpart to The Beatles during the British Invasion, they pioneered a rebellious sound that shaped hard rock and since their explosive debut at London's Marquee in 1962, the Stones redefined rock's attitude by blending raw energy with groundbreaking music. This collection of hits has been restored and remastered from historic broadcasts so fully captures their legacy at the time with live performances from New York, Paris and Honolulu in 1966 to New York's Madison Square Garden in 1972 all featuring.

Review: Punctuation aside, The Rolling Stones set a precedent with Get Yer Ya Ya's Out. At the time, concert albums were still something of a novel ideal, but when the iconic British rock 'n' rollers unleashed this it proved to the industry just how much people wanted on-stage magic captured for posterity. The first live record to hit number one in the UK charts, it was recorded at shows in New York City and Baltimore in 1969, just ahead of the landmark Let It Bleed LP arriving. It also proves the power of a bootleg, with an unofficial record, Live'r Then You'll Ever Be, reportedly persuading the band's then-label, Decca, to cash in on the clear demand for the group's exceptional live show, on vinyl. Captured on their first tour with Mick Taylor, Brian Jones having left, it presents the outfit as they sounded at the very top of their game - energetic, rule breaking, and packed with the soul of blues six stringers.

If you ever wondered what was next for the Rolling Stones, here's your answer. Hackney Diamonds is their forthcoming 26th studio album; the first studio album of original material by the band in 18 years and the final album to feature the drumming of rhythmic fixture Charlie Watts. Kicking off with its first promotional single 'Angry' - a song on which Jagger and Richards implore us not to get angry with them, perhaps owing to the frosty reception the Stones have sometimes received from squarer audiences over the years - the song sets the tone for what is sure to be a Stones completist's favourite and a welcome, high-energy return to blistering blues-rock form.

Review: In 1962, a chance convergence of historical contingencies in Dartford, Kent, would set the stage for the formation of one of the world's best-known rock and roll bands, The Rolling Stones. After Mick Jagger and Keith Richards took inspiration from rock icons Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, not to mention the comparatively sentimental Chicago blueses of Brian Jones and Ian Stewart, the group's had laid the mac for their own sound. The Rolling Stones' love for early blues legends would define their success; this compilation The celebrates those roots, from Muddy Waters' 'Just Want to Make Love to You' through to Chuck Berry's 'Memphis, Tennessee' and Robert Johnson's 'Love In Vain'. Special bonus tracks include the jazz-infused 'Key To The Highway' by Jazz Gillum, further proving Jagger and company's far-reaching inspirations.

Review: Recorded at Off Beat Studios in Leeds in 1987 and later released that same year, Life Time would serve as the debut album from ex-Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins and clarify beyond a shadow of a doubt that the unhinged punk poet didn't need to rely on the compositional machinations of one Greg Ginn to succeed. Produced by childhood friend, Dischord Records founder and Minor Threat/Fugazi/Embrace mastermind Ian MacKaye, and crafted with the first iteration of the Rollins' Band which featured Chris Haskett on guitar, Andrew Weiss on bass and Sim Cain on drums, the material operates as somewhat of a bridging point between the hardcore fury of early Black Flag and the more intense jazz-centric experimentation Rollins was becoming increasingly obsessed with, as many have gone on to refer to the work as post-hardcore meets funk metal. While more in line with 80s hardcore than future albums and lineups from the ever-shifting collective, the album is quintessential in not only mapping out Rollins successful solo endeavours across the following decades, but also cementing his legacy as a fearless innovator with little regard for genre parameters.

This, Where Myth Becomes Memory, is their sixth full length and a high pressure follow up to the widely loved and acclaimed 2018 LP Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It. Once again the band manages to capture the unique energy of their love shows and all is lead by vital and powerful vocalist Eva Spence. She manages to go from hellish guttural screams to much more scene sounds in an instant and allows the intricate songwriting to really shine.

Review: Romy Madley Croft continues to explore her solo career - as seems to be the inevitable prophesied path of of The xx member trifecta - with Mid Air. Collabs with Fred Again and Beverly Glenn-Copeland here thematically match Romy's implicit vision: to exploring the ever-thinning dividing line between heartfelt rave music and sounds for personal, teary-eyed catharsis moments. Edging ever-more into a more party-pop direction (contrastion to her prior projects' enduring indie tinge), Romy gets far trancier with things on the likes of 'Strong' and 'The Sea', even verging on Eurodance in short bursts. Other moments of downtime further express the many angles of Romy's personal ecstasy, citing the project as a dedication to queer clubbing and a mitigation of loneliness.

Review: It feels like Romy's debut album has been a long time coming, but it's absolutely worth the wait. Stepping to one side of the imposing shadow of her band The xx, the world-famous singer-songwriter has taken her time to deliver something sincere and vulnerable which opens up her world and celebrates the places she's found sanctuary. Having worked extensively with production wonder boy Fred Again, writing for other artists, the two finally funnelled their creative chemistry into songs for Romy which now result in a perfect nugget of pop-club with aeons of space for all the feelings to swirl. It's immediate and catchy, but elegant in equal measure, and certain to lodge Romy in the pantheon of modern pop titans for sensitive souls.

Review: The eighth studio album by American folk and country rock singer Linda Ronstadt, Simple Dreams was the best-selling album of her otherwise long career, and at the moment of its release in 1977 was also the second best-selling album by a female artist of all time, second only to Carole King’s Tapestry. From the upbeat ‘It's So Easy' to the poignant 'Blue Bayou’, the album seamlessly weaves Ronstadt’s trademark rock, country, and folk influences while saliently attending us to her gripping alto; her distinctive flutter was emblematic of the great American folk sound of the ‘40s onwards. Spanning everything from ballads to line dances, the album is most notably marked by the lonesome lament ‘I Will Never Marry’, on which Ronstadt imparts the extent of her dreams’ simplicity, and her strength: “I expect to live single all the days of my life."

Review: Linda Ronstadt's Cry Like A Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind marks her return to pop with grandeur and power. Backed by a stellar lineup of session musicians, including Aaron Neville, Ronstadt delivers a collection of 12 quality songs by esteemed songwriters. The album's magnitude is evident in its lush orchestration and powerful arrangements, courtesy of the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. While the grand scale occasionally overshadows Ronstadt's vocals, her refined phrasing and vocal prowess shine through, particularly in her duets with Neville. Engineer George Massenburg's impeccable recording work elevates the album to near perfection, capturing every instrument with clarity and balance. Cry Like A Rainstorm not only heralds Ronstadt's return to pop/rock but also showcases her remarkable musical development, making it a strong contender for the best album of 1989.

Review: Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo vocalist-guitarist Ripley Johnson seems like the kind of guy who's never going to get boring. Having seduced pretty much everyone in earshot with a unique brand of psychedelic country music, earning the kind of cult following that gets you booked for the equally cult, sorely-missed, and utterly legendary All Tomorrow's Parties festival (RIP), he's continued to explore the possibilities and prospects of that sound.

Garden Party is the fourth LP under his Rose City Band project, and is gorgeous and alluring as ever. Apparently Johnson was inspired by long summer days and nights spent on verandas kicking back and enjoying balmy temperatures, and that feeling emanates from the tracks here. A beautiful collection of crooning guitars within lackadaisical arrangements, capable of transporting you to warmer, slower places.

Review: RECOMMENDED
The return of Ripley Johnson, and what a return it is. The man better known to most (confusingly) as Rose City Band, alongside Wooden Shjips and Moon Duo, started this project as an outlet for all the bits and pieces that wouldn't fit in with those two other endeavours. In truth, RSB isn't a million miles from either but wins out in terms of the freedoms it affords.

Rather than finding himself beholden to bandmates and communal touring schedules, instead the Band has always allowed Johnson complete control to do what he wants, when he wants it, and perhaps most significantly, with who he wants. Inviting select players to join in the creative process, it's a wistful and laidback steel pedal guitar groove from start to finish, touching on progressive rock, folk, Americana, blues, jazz and more.

Review: The latest release from Rose City Band continues their tradition of sun-kissed country rock, blending effortless momentum with an undercurrent of darker tones. Led by Ripley Johnson, the band - featuring Barry Walker, Paul Hasenberg, and John Jeffrey - creates expansive, rhythmic music that's as much about groove as it is about atmosphere. The release balances the joy of uplifting moments with the inevitable presence of shadow, reflecting the duality of life. From the highway-bound optimism of 'Lights on the Way' to the emotional resolution of 'The Walls,' the music unfolds like a sunset drive, a journey through both light and shade.

Review: Rose City Band's Sol Y Sombra is a radiant blend of sun-kissed country rock and introspective melancholy, led by guitarist/vocalist Ripley Johnson. The album captures the joy of creation while acknowledging the ever-present shadow in life, with Johnson embracing both light and darkness. Backed by pedal steel guitarist Barry Walker, keyboardist Paul Hasenberg and drummer John Jeffrey, the band conjures an effortless momentum, infusing each track with lush melodies and rhythmic drive. Tracks like 'Lights on the Way' and 'Evergreen' exude Americana bliss, while Walker's pedal steel adds a shimmering layer to the album's expansive, sunset-drenched sound. Johnson's introspective lyrics and soulful guitar interludes, paired with special guest Sanae Yamada's synths, elevate the album to a deeper emotional level. The closer, 'The Walls', beautifully features the band's blend of exploration and catharsis. Throughout Sol Y Sombra, Johnson expertly balances familiar sounds with subtle evolutions, creating a journey that celebrates both light and shade. It's a heartfelt and resplendent album, filled with timeless grooves and reflective moments.

Caoilfhionn Rose's third album, Constellation, marks a mature exploration of nature's beauty and the power of music in a post-COVID world. Rooted in folk and jazz influences yet forging a unique sonic space, Rose blends piano, synths, and live instrumentation with ambient samples and futuristic production techniques. Collaborators like Jordan Smart from Mammal Hands and John Ellis of The Cinematic Orchestra add depth and texture to the album's ethereal soundscapes. Producer Aaron Wood's ambient samples enrich tracks like 'Rainfall' with layered intricacy. Rose's experimental approach, guided by husband Rich Williams, results in a collage-like album, where songs evolve organically through collaboration and creative exploration. Constellation shows Rose's willingness to push musical boundaries while staying true to her introspective lyricism and melodic sensibility. It's an album that invites listeners into a transcendent journey, weaving together elements of tradition and innovation with captivating ease.

Review: If you've ever seen the smash hit Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon then consider Caroline Rose's decision to invest in a new sleeve. Trace the singer-songwriter's history back and you'll find early work heavily influenced by, or indeed completely existing within, the country scene, guitar-twangs and melodrama abound. By 2018 she was clearly eying up a transition on the album 'Loner', and then two years on she's finally cast aside the badlands sounds in favour of something altogether more glossy and mainstream chart-friendly.

Her lyrics still have warmth, honesty and wit. And 'Superstar' definitely packs melodrama. But this is unashamedly pop, dancefloor moments, stadia-filling crescendos and synthesised element are everywhere. At its darkest and most innovative are the whirring anti-harmonies of 'Command Z', with those affected vocals. Next track 'Back At The Beginning' is perhaps the funkiest, while the sweetest comes from sugar-coated uptempo number 'Do You Think We'll Last Forever'.

Review: Rosetta Stone, one of the most enduring bands from the influential second wave of gothic rock, returns with a brand-new studio album called Under the Weather. Known for their dark romance and chiming guitars, the new album stays true to form with lush keyboards and an undercurrent of sinister nostalgia, thanks to bandleader Karl North. Fans can look forward to pre-release singles and a significant media blitz to accompany this album, their first in 4 years. Formed in the 1980s by Porl King and Karl North, Rosetta Stone initially captured the jangly-guitar sounds of gothic rock. Their big break came after supporting The Mission on tour. The band later transitioned to a more electronic sound before disbanding in 1998. Now, gothic mastermind Porl King is back with an album that promises to transport fans back to goth's heyday. Like their namesake, British goth legends Rosetta Stone were pivotal in bridging the gap between the first wave of gothic rock and the emerging underground scene. Their music brought a romantic element to a dynamic era of black fashion and experimental freak culture.

Review: Breaking from his directorial duties, American cinema auteur Eli Roth (Borderlands, Knock Knock, Green Inferno) stops by the CAM Sugar sound studio for a rare double 7" LP, pinching listeners by the ear and dragging them along a forbidden trail along the gothic, red-lit path that is Italian soundtrack legendariness. Drawing his selections here from a wealth of Italian B-movie expertise, not to mention ownership in his own collection, the contemporary horrorist has chosen 20 delicious but still downright saucy disco, bossa nova and psych tunes here, centring on the Italian Sexy Comedy softcore era of 1969-81.

Review: American splatter horror director Eli Roth curates a spicy and seductive collection of Italian soundtrack gems, offering a deep dive into the rich and often scandalous world of Italian softcore and sexy comedies from the 70s and 80s. With tracks spanning disco, funk, bossa nova, and psych, Roth draws upon the compositions of iconic Italian film composers like Stelvio Cipriani, Bruno Nicolai, and Riz Ortolani. Highlights include Cipriani's infectious 'Nude Odeon (Ritmico Funk)' and Ferrio's sultry 'Quando Vuoi Con Chi Vuoi.' The collection, which also features rare and previously unreleased tracks, pulses with a heady mix of erotic tension and playful grooves. 'Amori Stellari' from Don Powell, with its cheeky synth-laden intro, adds a spacey touch, while Gianni Ferrio's 'La Musica E' effortlessly evokes the seductive atmosphere of 70s Italian cinema. Whether it's the funky disco beats of 'Avere Vent'anni (Disco)' or the dark allure of 'Il Sesso Del Diavolo,' each track feels like an invitation into an intimate, forbidden world. It's a soundtrack for lovers of cult cinema, irresistibly bold and full of character.

Review: Claire Rousay's Sentiment, her first release via Thrill Jockey, is an audacious leap into a unique blend of folky emo and experimental soundscapes. This ten-track album showcases her fearless creativity, combining Midwestern emo guitar tunings, plucked arpeggios, and Auto-Tuned vocals with her signature ambient textures. While it may initially seem disorienting, this eclectic mix reveals its depth and charm upon repeated listens. 'Head' stands out with its stark, minimalist vocals reminiscent of Julien Baker, while 'It Could Be Anything' channels the emotional intensity of early Pedro the Lion. Another great song, 'III,' aligns closely with Rousay's recent work, offering a cohesive blend of her experimental and melodic sensibilities. 'Lover's Spit Plays in the Background' pays homage to Broken Social Scene and echoes Phoebe Bridgers' introspective style. Sentiment is an ambitious and adventurous effort that challenges listeners to embrace Rousay's genre-blending approach. This album is full of raw authenticity and emotional resonance that make it a rewarding listen for those willing to dive into its intricate layers.

Review: Swedish pop rock duo Roxette were one of the country's breakout acts in the genre. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of their third album 'Joyride', Rhino Records have seen to a due repress in a plethora of formats, including single LP, 4xLP, and even a limited orange marble vinyl version. Remembering the proto-balearic ballad-belters' monumental rise to number 1 on the Billboard 100 chart in May 1991, this album initially sold more than 11 million copies, setting a record previously not achieved by any other Scandinavian act. This version, however, also adds a whopping 35 new and unreleased bonus tracks; check out the night-riding, cutthroat bit that is 'Hotblooded', which was initially intended to take the place of 'Joyride' as the album's lead single.

Review: The 1982 glam-rock swan song for British rock group Roxy Music sees another limited reissue, a departure from the more edgy and abrasive sounds the group went for prior. The word that people constantly use to describe 'Avalon' is mature, in multiple senses of the word. At its core, the record is sensual and seductive make-out material, a 10 track package pining on romance named after the fantastical romantic gesture of King Arthur's body being sent to the titular island. It's plain to see why 'Avalon' is the band's most acclaimed and influential project, spawning off other New Wave acts like Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran and Tears for Fears. 'More Than This', the title track, has stood the test of time and is still playlisted and cited as one of the greatest British New Wave tracks of all time. 'Avalon' is accessible, seductive and, without doubt, a classic.

Not to be confused with their compilation album of the same name, we get a glimpse into the performative habits of a band whose touring schedule had them visit Japan, Europe, Australia and the US. From the title track all the way through to 'Editions Of You', the band's 9-strong lineup on this live album is tireless, making their way through a gargantuan setlist with ease.

Review: Stranded is the third album for Roxy Music, and most notably it was the first after Brian Eno had departed. It was also the first album on which Ferry shared songwriting duties with Andy Mackay and Phil Mazanera, and so it captures the band in that moment of transition away from synthesiser sparkle towards a fuller, more rockist sound. The pianos and guitars pile on, creating a more driving sound even on the softer tracks like 'Just Like You', but there's still a thread of the unusual tucked away in every track - that curious magic which made Roxy Music such a vital force in 70s music.

Review: For Your Pleasure was Roxy Music's second album, and the last to feature Brian Eno before he sprang off into his illustrious career in ambient and experimental electronic music. Released in 1973, it found the band able to spend more time in the studio experimenting with their sound, which results in some unique ingredients not found elsewhere in Bryan Ferry's band's legacy. From the surrealist phasing treatment on the end of 'In Every Dream Home A Heartache' to tape loop effects applied elsewhere, it's an adventurous peak of early 70s rock, now lovingly remastered at half-speed for your audiophile pleasure.

Career highlight songs like 'Out Of The Blue', 'Prairie Rose' and 'All I Want Is You' sound better than ever here, doing justice to its comparatively pessimistic sound. It's still got that Bryan Ferry-ish, romantic aristocratic vibe, though!

Review: Royal Blood's debut was a smash hit, and its globe-conquering success notably hasn't led them to make an avant-jazz record for this follow-up, nor to stray too far from the amp-abusing template it set out. Nor indeed does this record live up to its title, despite spending much of its 35-minute duration chronicling the downfall of a relationship, Nonetheless, the Brightonian duo remain possessed of testosterone-driven power and brass-knuckle boisterousness to slay ten lesser bands, and 'How Did We Get so Dark?' is another masterclass in the creation of riffs big enough to fill a canyon.

Review: British rock twosome Royal Blood had a famously speedy ascent, with their self-titled debut album appearing little over a year after the duo started working together. That album is now ten years old, hence this lightly expanded anniversary edition. The original ten-track album - a raw, rugged, energetic and at times insanely loud fusion of red-raw metal guitars, Ben Thatcher's thunderous drums and Mike Kerr's yelped vocals and booming bass - remains as thrilling and jaw-dropping as it did a decade ago, making it a genuine British alt-rock classic. This time round, we also get six bonus tracks (B-sides and EP bonus cuts), an alternative remix of 'Ten Tonne Skeleton' and a quintet of live recordings from 2015.

Review: Released in 1992, Untitled marked Royal Trux's third album and solidified their status as pioneers of the lo-fi genre. This album transitioned the duo, Neil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema, into a constantly evolving collective of musicians. As part of Fire Records' remastered series, Untitled comes pressed on white vinyl with updated monochrome and silver artwork. Stepping away from the dense layering of their previous work, Twin Infinitives, Royal Trux embraced a raw rock 'n' roll aesthetic filled with the deformed grandeur of their influences. Drawing from their experiences and subconscious "radio stations," the eight-song collection weaves together twisted melodies and memories. Hagerty's gritty blues roots complement Herrema's seductive yet snarling vocals, capturing a sense of intimacy akin to a night at the Chelsea Hotel, where the characters of the 90s swagger through their lyrics. Tracks like 'Junkie Nurse' delve into themes of addiction and redemption, reflecting a hope that even the most broken individuals can help each other. While some noise elements persist, Untitled showcases a clear shift toward songwriting, revealing Royal Trux as a stunning indie rock band that continues to resonate with a transgressive generation and influences future duos like The White Stripes and The Kills.

Review: Perhaps the most abstract, clangorous and genre-defying entry in the formidable Royal Trux catalogue, 1990s Twin Infinitives is a sprawling, tactile odyssey punctuated by Neil Hagerty's acerbic guitar stabs and Jennifer Herrema's sleazy vocal free association. Through the thick squalling gauze witch Hagerty and Herrema superimpose on each track, ghosts of A/B song form emerge and disintegrate, with blues licks and disarmingly gentle croons offset by rumbling mechanical loops and sonic shrapnel. It really feels like the ground zero, the most amoebic and uncompromising launchpad for what would become the Royal Trux sound. Highlights include the Henry Flynt-esque 'Ice Cream', the cavernous flute peals of 'Osiris' and the rollicking, fuzz-damaged 'Glitterbust'. One of the best from one of the best!

Review: Rozi Plain's latest album might be her best yet. It is a spellbinding affair on Memphis Industries which she has said is "thinking about the often silent fight within us. Trying to come good, trying to not be bad. Feeling judged and judging ourselves." It is a showcase of her hypnotic songwriting ability that bristles with the rawness of the bustling Bristol DIY scene from which she came. The deceptive simplicity to each track means each tune is stripped back to its most core and potent components. It all adds up to a great record.

Review: A lot of bands have mystery and mythology surrounding them. Few can command the same level of interest as Rudimentary Peni. The British anarcho-punks have been going since 1980, and in that time put out just four albums and a handful of EPs. Oh, and a live recording from a gig in Derby, England, in 1993, released 12 years later by Sheffield Tape Archive.

All of which is besides the point when you realise how hard it is to find any photos of any band member, and how little they've courted press or anything tied to the music industry at any point in the past 40 years. Cacophony is their second LP, landing in 1988, and straddles nosebleed metal, tough garage rock, mind-melting punk, and some stuff we can't really think of words for. Frantic, fun, and more than a little mad.

Review: Uglier than their profound peers in Crass; British anarcho/aggro/noise punk outfit Rudimentary Peni were an equally vital staple to the scene. Their second full-length 'Cacophony' marked their return following the first of several extended hiatuses, and served as a cataclysmic 30-track nightmare of avant-punk chaos, directly inspired by the works of cosmic horror visionary H.P. Lovecraft. With elements of spoken word, concrete noise and feral bursts of hyper-intense noisecore energy, this is punk at its most gothic, ambitious, intricate, ugly and experimental, while simultaneously serving as the group's most challenging work yet finest representation of their demented sonic ethos.

Review: Recorded in 1992 but not officially released until 1995, Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric would serve as the third full-length album from London anarcho-punk underground legends Rudimentary Peni, and their first since 1988's acclaimed and unhinged Cacophony. With the majority of the material penned by primary songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Nick Blinko while sectioned in a psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983, much of the lyrical subject matter details Blinko's delusions including the idea that he was "Pope Adrian 37th" - a reference to Pope Adrian IV. Pushing their chaotic abrasion even further leftfield than ever before with art-punk experiments into trance-inducing use of unsettling repetitions including the pseudo-Latinised phrase "Papas Adrianus" (Pope Adrian) looped continuously throughout the runtime, this macabre masterpiece has become a holy grail of outsider art and avant-punk, whilst being out of print for years. Remastered from the original tapes by Arthur Rizk and reissued by the committed souls at Sealed Records, who slowly appear to be repressing the entire RP back catalogue, make no mistake that with evident eagerness and hype within the core fanbase, these twisted beauties won't stay around long.

Review: The much-anticipated fifth studio album from Rufus Du Sol, known for blending organic and electronic sounds, sees the Grammy-winning trio once again delving into familiar themes like love, heartbreak and euphoria across 15 tracks. This new record, featuring previously released singles 'Lately' and 'Music Is Better', marks the band's first new material in three years. Their latest single, 'Break My Love', shows the band's signature style, where smooth vocals from Tyrone Lindqvist weave into a hypnotic electronic backdrop. The track evokes hope and emotional depth while maintaining the group's dreamy, electronic soundscape. The accompanying retro-inspired music video, directed by longtime collaborator Katzki, adds a playful twist with a heist-themed storyline, reflecting the band's creative evolution. Inhale / Exhale represents a new creative phase for the trio, who describe this era as focusing on the joy of creation in the present moment. Fans can expect a mature sonic journey that carries forward the emotional highs and lows that have made RUFUS DU SOL a beloved force in the global electronic scene.

Review: RUFUS DU SOL's forthcoming album Inhale Exhale is a masterpiece that transcends genres, reminiscent of Powderfinger's Odyssey Number 5 yet distinct in its own right. This Australian trio, brimming with talent, has truly outdone themselves, delivering an album where every track is a winner. Each listen reveals a captivating journey of synths and ingenious beats, with impeccable track ordering enhancing the experience. For newcomers, 'Pressure' is a standout that demands attention, showcasing a brilliant 80s-inspired bass hook. Review: This cult classic disco album is now a full four decades old, so what better time to reissue it in a special 40th Anniversary Edition? Spittle Dependance out of Italy have done that here and it is an alluring listen all these years on that kicks off with the proto-house sounds and echo-laden slow-motion grooves of 'Fire' before 'Sexual Desire' get tinny and analogue and cold, 'Marry A Bad Girl' plays with some more colourful synth sequences and nice deadpan vocals and 'It's Not Too Grand' is a real low slung disco chugger. A wonderful album if you ask us.

Review: A 1996 classic brought back to life with a new, enhanced vinyl experience. Opening with the title track, the album presents a blend of prog-rock with more streamlined, radio-friendly elements, which defines much of the era. 'Driven' stands out as a high-energy, guitar-heavy track, while 'Virtuality' brings an electronic edge to their sound, embracing the technology of the time. This 2XLP release allows fans to revisit the album in rich analogue quality, offering a fresh perspective on Rush's evolution during the 90s, with the complex musicianship and dynamic range that made the band iconic.

Review: Rush's 1989 release marked a clear departure from the synthesiser-heavy sound of their mid-80s albums, returning to a more guitar-driven approach. Alex Lifeson's intricate riffs shine through tracks like 'Show Don't Tell', while 'The Pass' layers introspective lyrics with melodic finesse. Geddy Lee's basslines feel taut and precise, anchoring the dynamic interplay between his vocals and Neil Peart's inventive drumming. The production captures a sense of clarity, allowing the band's technical prowess to shine without unnecessary embellishments. It's a turning point in Rush's journey that bridges their progressive roots with a leaner, more direct sound.

Review: Rush's Roll The Bones reissue for 2025 brings this 1991 classic back to vinyl with a fresh coat of audio enhancement. Kicking off with the energetic 'Dreamline,' the album effortlessly blends progressive rock with more accessible, radio-friendly sounds. Tracks like 'Bravado' showcase the band's refined songwriting, balancing introspection with their signature musicianship. The title track, 'Roll The Bones,' with its groovy bassline and playful lyrics, remains one of the band's most memorable moments. Review: Prog rock legends Rush have a die-hard fan base who love to spend hours debating about which is their best album. They might not always name this one but it is generally regarded as up there amongst their finest hours with a bigger variety in the structures of the songs, the melodies and the sounds created than before. The Canadian group released it in September 1991 having recorded it earlier that year. It proved a commercial success for the outfit reaching No. 3 in the United States, No. 10 in the UK, and No. 11 in Canada. It always won awards for its cover art and is noted for its return to guitar-driven songs.

Rush 50 (Super Deluxe Edition) (limited 7xLP box set + 4xCD + book + graphic novel + inserts)
Cat: MRY 1660121. Rel: 20 Mar 25
Review: Rush 50 is a career-spanning, 50-track anthology celebrating the Canadian trio Rush's breakneck journey in prog rock, virtuosity and "philosophical rock". Available in five configurations - this one being the 7xLP Deluxe Edition - this collection includes seven unreleased tracks, including the band's debut single 'Not Fade Away' and a live recording from their final concert in 2015. Distilling in as effective a manner as possible the full 50 annual yards of Rush's evolution - from their early days to full-throttle stadium rock grandeur - Rush 50 is also made up partly but significantly of unreleased live performances from 1974 and their final 2015 show, nestled next to hits like 'Tom Sawyer' and 'The Spirit Of Radio'. A 104-page book, new artwork, and a graphic novel helps further detail the band's history.
