This new young label certainly does and now offers more ways to have just that sort of experience with a leftfield Balearic 7" from Viscardi & Il Duo Magnetico. On the A-side they layer up 80s synth sounds with Italo melodies and vocals into a bright electronic disco beat that is perfect for late-night or early-morning sessions. On 'Jamba Club' on the flip, the vocals become more steamy, the moods more exotic and tropical with a funky bassline leading the way beneath plenty of superb retro-future chords.

Review: Artless Cuckoo has coaxed a second release out of Ghia here and it's another stunning following the highlight collectable and sold out first offering. This one delves into Ghia's past and presents a super limited 7" with two unreleased recordings from 1985: At The Hilton. The group was made up of Lutz Boberg and Frank Simon and they later joined with singer Lisa Ohm and these tunes are taken from an old archive of tapes. They are brilliantly delicate and unassuming, with lo-fi drum machines, wispy chords and deep celestial pads all taking you on a gentle cosmic jazz trip.

Review: GIM Records is a brand new label that makes a superb start to life with this debut release. It's a limited edition EP from the Italian pair 'HP' or House Pleasure. They offer up three effortlessly cosmic grooves that take us on a trip through the stars. There is a motorik kick to 'Mare Imbrium' (part 1) that starts off in sleek fashion with delightful melodic patterns, then 'Mare Vaporum' has a more broken beat with rubbery bass and funky lo-fi and dry hi hats akin to the Mood Hut crew. 'Mare Nectaris' is star-gazing deep house with dusty aesthetics and dreamy chord work. The two remixes head off into ambient and then deep dub territory. Deffo a label to watch on this evidence.

It is an album on Sacred Bones awash with eerie synth strings that are offset by De Olivera's German vocals. Drums echo the sounds of the early Cocteau Twins and the shimmering synths take you higher. It is a low key work with plenty of lo-fi aesthetics but one that makes a grand emotional impact. 'Hanging Gardens' is a real favourite with its moody backdrop of wooly synths.

Review: Japanese keys wizard Hiroshi Sato recorded many albums across his career, bringing the vibrant sound of synthesis into earshot with his earliest albums in the late 70s. Orient was his third solo album, released in 1979 on Kitty Records in a pitch-perfect daydream of AOR goodness. Tracks like 'Son Goku' sum up the persistent appeal of Sato's music, fusing the smoothest compositions with some playful sound design approaches, which show he was having fun with the studio gear beyond writing exquisite melodies. Elsewhere, he had fun going into full freak mode with the madcap ear candy of 'Donkama'. If you can't get enough of that era of Japanese synth pop, this reissue is an absolute must.

Review: There's always been something cinematic - or at least suitably epic - about Alex Schauffler's Superpitcher productions, and in recent years they've got progressively more widescreen. With Hollywood, the Paris-based German's first Mule Musiq outing for three years, he's gone the whole hog and delivered something akin to a soundtrack to a 40-minute movie that exists only in his imagination. Split into two "chapters" of 20-minutes each, it's a gloriously warming, sun-soaked affair that slowly builds via waves of melody, effortlessly gorgeous chords and thematic hooks before the introduction of a hypnotic, subtly evolving deep house groove. As chapter two progresses, it does something similar but in reverse, becoming ever more blissful until it reaches a sublime ambient conclusion. It's a genuinely stunning piece of music all told.

This time he welcomes Ghia for a second outing following the sold out and hugely desirable first one. This one comes in the form of a full length album featuring some previously unissued songs and lots of the group's signature downtempo synth pop sounds. Review: Drawn from a soundtrack Barrott was commissioned to write for the Japanese documentary Johatsu -The Art of Evaporation, this release explores ideas of living simply and focusing on kindness, grace and gratitude. Opening track, 'Kyoto', ripples into focus, floating through a blue-sky dreamscape and punctuated by hazy choral vocals. Another standout track, 'Icarus', is a jazz-electronic fusion piano piece, merging traditional instrumentation with a softly encompassing clarinet solo. Review: While all of NuNorthern Soul's releases are delightfully warming, sun-baked and mood-enhancing, the label's latest release - a new EP from imprint stalwart and long-serving American producer Marshall Watson - is especially impressive. Musically, it's sun-bright and sonically enveloping, offering a calming and colourful bath for the head, heart and soul. Review: There is plenty of psychedelic colour to this latest EP from the Spanish Baffling Noise label. It appears to be the first release from Numbat who has a love of long, winding, slow-motion synth patterns that weave their way in and out of deep, dubby, stylish drums. That is certainly the case on 'Southern Exposure' (Hybrid Man remix) while 'Amalgamate' is leggy house music with happy melodies and 'E-Break' then heads off through the cosmos on solar winds, trippy melodies and warm drums. 'Southern Exposure' is a chubby, dubby, sludgy techno head wrecker in its original form.

Review: Emotional Rescue has had this reissue in the works for a while, but it was delayed by the sad passing of Steve Coe after the rerelease of The Ganges Orchestra's The Dream. Finally, though, the right time has come for this one to be bacon the racks and it is a much-loved reminder of Coe's wizardry in the studio. Review: Back in 2017, Damon G Roddick - yep, Dam-Funk himself - unveiled a new project on Music From Memory, Garrett. Since then, he's delivered two albums of evocative, melodious and, by his standards, melancholic synthesizer music that add a picturesque, almost Balearic tinge to his usually forthright synth-funk sound. Here he presents what he says is the third and final installment in the trilogy, once again painting colourful, emotive musical pictures with little more than a bank of vintage synths and a couple of drum machines. As you'd expect, it's as on-point, entertaining and enjoyable as its predecessors, delivering the kind of attractive, sofa-friendly synth sounds that are guaranteed to put smiles on stressed and miserable faces.

Review: Javi Frias has earned a solid reputation as a producer on the international disco scene since he began releasing his edits and reworks back in 2015. However, this year, during confinement, he decided to put editing aside to unleash his creativity and start recording his own productions, playing with synthesizers, electric pianos, syncopated basses and tribal percussion, and the result is this 'Sunset Disco EP'. A collection of songs that take us to a summer sunset on a beach in paradise that represent a huge leap in the career of this artist. The A side begins with 'Give Love', a hedonistic and melancholic disco song, followed by 'Noche Tropical', with Balearic overtones and reminiscences of a Caribbean party.
