Sarufaromeo & Papaverhof - "Acid Nihonshu" (5:18)
G303 - "Live Long & Prosper" (5:07)
Paul Renard - "SO36" (5:23)
Review: Acid Sessions Vol. 3 is another white-knuckle journey into the world of acid with five top talents in the field all pushing their own limits. Acidulant opens with "Serpentacid' featuring hypnotic 303 grooves and relentless energy, then Sarufaromeo & Papaverhof deliver 'Acid Nihonshu' which blends atmospheric depth with chaotic acid vibes. G303 takes you beyond with 'Live Long and Prosper,' an interstellar anthem filled with cosmic acid and resonant grooves. Paul Renard closes with 'SO36' which is all about the fat rhythms and powerful dancefloor drive. Long live acid is what we say.

Review: For its seventh release, southern Italians Obscura Music return to welcome exciting new talents and core label acts. Head honchos Agents Of Time venture down an electro route with "East Coast", as do the ever impressive London Modular Alliance on the hypnotic "Buck One". Man of the moment Aussie Jensen Interceptor channels classic Drexciyan aesthetics on "Manix" before homeboys and label staples Hiver come through with the slinky and hypnotic tech house of "Stasys" and Detroit veteran Kris Wadsworth makes a surprising appearance with some slow burning minimalism displayed on closer "Abroad".

Mud Deep & Sans Qui - "Mesonyx" (5:21)
Review: Coeur De Glace on DKO Records (DKO 34) delivers four fantastic electro tracks, each with unique influences and directions. Side-1 kicks off with Binary Digit's 'U Want Dis,' an exuberant, high-energy track that pays homage to old-school rave with its lively vocal samples. Fasme's 'Morning' follows, blending smooth electro with soft keys and a whimsical AFX melody for a perfect combination. Side-2 features GGGG's 'La Cueillette,' a feel-good, fun and melodic electro tune. The EP concludes with Mud Deep & Sans-Qui's 'Mesonyx,' offering IDM goodness reminiscent of Rephlex, Squarepusher, and AFX. Coeur De Glaceis a vibrant and diverse collection, sure to delight fans of electro and techno.

Blame The Mono - "British Bully" (5:26)
Jadzia - "Lurkur" (4:37)
Ghost In The Machine - "Treachery" (5:45)
Umwelt - "Undercurrent" (5:26)
Review: One result of the pandemic when we all embraced slower tempos and more lush electric music is the inevitable reaction to that and rise in harder and more direct sounds. This blistering techno EP is a testament to that on French label Rave Or Die with four cuts of breakbeat-infused, guitar-licked dance floor weaponry. Blame The Mono's 'British Bully' kicks off with some contorted guitar lines and brutal breaks, Jadiza gets more hardcore with distorted synths and slapping hits and Ghost In The Machine then lays down slamming and dark drum energy on 'Treachery' before Umwelt closes with a panel-beating techno head-wrecker.

Philipp Boss - "Lava" (5:56)
Griezman - "Decheterie" (8:27)
Martyne - "Zoober" (6:26)
Bodin - "A Walk In The Park" (6:15)
Review: Not On Earth's first release sold out in quick time - unsurprising given the reputation of Frankfurt based founders Bodin & Jacob. Their second is a various artists affair that shows off some of the talents they have unearthed, while Bodin also reappears with "A Walk In The Park." It's a brilliantly militant cut with clipped, marching beats and rasping bass squelches, and elsewhere Philipp Boss opens the EP with the slippery electro rhythms of "Lava". Griezman's "Decheterie" is an uptempo bit of proper first wave tech house a la Terry Francis. Closing out this more than handy EP is the hard edged electro-tech of "Zoober" from Martyne.

Ruckus (4:47)
Jodey Kendrik - "Thanx" (5:56)
Gavin Masih - "Unknown Track 1" (6:55)
Monika Subrtova - "Alata" (7:08)
Review: Furthur Electronix's first two Furthur Journeys Into compilations tune plenty of heads and shift plenty of copies. The third one keeps the quality levels high with more explorations around the periphery of underground electronics. Chris Coco opens with a soothing synth sound before Jake Slazenger brings crystalline synths and abstract modulations to the mid-tempo '168B.' There is more pace and twisted acid energy to Global Goon's untitled contribution and then old school jungle comes to the fore on the super stylish and atmospheric Gavin Masih cut. Monika Subrtova's 'Alata' is a serene and widescreen ambient synthscape that brings things to a suitably poignant close.

F Phono - "We All Love Electro Dance" (5:04)
Review: The second release on RPX16035 takes us back into the beating heart of full-fat electro with a cast of emergent talents bitten by the machine funk bug. Digregorius is up first with 'Aurora Maia', a schlocky slice of twisted synth lines that draws parallels with labels like EYA and Partisan. Gianluca Pellerano has a definite video game soundtrack influence lingering over his track like he's battling an end of level boss. Marco Biagioli has a thumping 4/4 focus at work on equally spooked out 'Gate 5' while F Phono finishes the record off with the Italo-tinted 'We All Love Electro Dance' - a track title we can all get behind.

Review: Dutch label 030303 is, unsurprisingly given the name, all about acid sounds in various different contexts. This time out they line up four artists and set them free with their Rolands. Freek Fabricius opens up with a portal to another dimension where bight harmonies and shattered melodies, computer game sound effects and bust bass all happily coexist. Geel Acidvarken's 'Birdhood Acid' is a more slow and meandering acid meditation. Bohm gets busy on a nice electro trip and Piepiep's 'System 100' is a nice tripped out wander through downbeat electro bliss.

Boiling Bubble
Disobedience
Biomatic
Review: France's Gaugain brothers have built up an impressive discography as G-Prod since making their debut in 2013, in the process releasing music on such established imprints as R&S and Brique Rouge. Here they bring their deservedly high reputation to Fourier Transform, a recently launched imprint. Interestingly, the EP launches not with their original mix of warming, melodious electro number 'Boiling Bubble' (you'll find that later in the EP), but rather a sparkling, surging, sun-kissed and breathlessly life-affirming Reedale Rise remix of the same track that's genuinely brilliant (like much of the Liverpool-based producer's work). Elsewhere, 'Disobedience' is an ambient-influenced chunk of ultra-deep house, while 'Biomatic' is an acid-splattered deep electro treat.

Beelzebub Rising (8:31)
Walk On By (4:45)
Review: Acid Machines Vol 1 by G303 is the latest release by the long time Dutch label Zodiak Commune and these four tracks, combined, add up to one heck of a wicked acid techno record. 'Acid Dropping' is a crushing piece of acid trance. 'Power Corrupts' is a breakneck speed techno killer - you've got to love the classic Belgium sounding doom to it, it takes us right back to 1992. ' Beelzebub Rising' is a nasty breakbeat heater that is sure to pound down some doors when played loudly. The Squarepusher like 'Walk On By' adds a nice comedown IDM touch to the close of this vinyl. This release includes a poster and is limited to 200 copies only.

16 Hours (7:21)
Review: REPRESS ALERT: UK techno stalwart Russ Gabriel has proven himself time and time again in the deeper corners of the genre, not least at the helm of the seminal Ferox label. Recent appearances for the likes of FireScope and Rawax have equally affirmed his position at the forefront of his field nearly 30 years after first emerging. The standard is no lower on this new release for Subconscious Algorithms, which kicks off with the Detroit-styled delights of "Photoa" before melting into the mellow brain food of "End Of Doubt". "Dromedary" brings some luscious acid sounds into the melodic mix, and "16 Hours" completes the set with an elegant trip through pin-prick electro for the after-hours set.

You Don't Matter
Review: Cult Scottish electro producer Galaxian has been lurking in the shadows for a long time, only now receiving more recognition in the wake of the electro upsurge. This signing to Helena Hauff's ever-brilliant Return To Disorder is a fine case in point, bringing the one-time Stingray collaborator to a broader audience base. It's good to see Galaxian hasn't diluted his future-shock sound one iota, leading in with the sci-fi noir cinemascope of "Paradise Engineering" before swerving into the heavily reverbed astral plane of "Mutual Arising". "Life Force" meanwhile pings into ever more psychedelic territory, where P-Funk's wildest inclinations meet with electronic futurism, with thrilling, original results. "You Don't Matter" ends this startling record on a brutal note, all snarling acid lines fired off at breakneck pace.

Mechanistic Control Fantasies (3:28)
Terminal Phase (3:02)
Review: Following fine releases on Shipwrec, Natural Sciences and Return To Disorder, masked electro/techno misfit Galaxian (real name Mark Kastner) makes his first appearance on Ilian Tape. The Glasgow-based producer starts in suitably big fashion via "External Observer", where what sounds like an orchestra of synthesizers gets to work over a skittish, bass-heavy electro beat, before exploring more dystopian dancefloor pastures on the moody, alien-sounding and otherworldly "Fuzzy Clouds Of Potential Existence". On side B he gives his out-there interpretation of early jungle ("Coming Up For Air"), batters a broken computer into submission and makes electro gold out of it (the slightly melancholic "Mechanistic Control Fantasies") and soundtracks the end of days (or possibly Brexit) on weirdo closing cut "Terminal Phase".

Golden Armageddon (10:04)
Review: Although largely unknown outside of underground electro circles, Mark Kastner AKA Galaxian consistently serves up some of the most on-point experimental and club-focused electronic music around. It's a bold claim, for sure, but one that's backed up by the high quality tracks showcased on the Scottish producer's first EP for Natural Sciences. A-track "Golden Armageddon", for example, is a thrilling, nine-minute electro ride that brilliantly alternates between sweeping, cinematic style melodic movements and fizzing, acid-fired sections that are more intense than a late night beating from a far-right thug. Elsewhere, "Ride The Spiral" joins the dots between Drexciya, early UK bleep and weirdo IDM, while dystopian closing cut "Psychic Purification" is a Rephlex style "braindance" monster.

70100 (6:07)
Review: Some all-Italian electro action here, as Nicola Laporchio AKA Cosmic Garden joins forces with Lunar Orbiter Program regular CEM3340 for four tracks of intergalactic dancefloor fun. They begin with a spot of "Psychoanalysis", a veritable all-action affair in which melancholic motifs stretch out atop crunchy beats and an aggressive, Drexciyan bassline, before flitting between deeper and darker sections on the similarly forthright "31 Seconds". "Square Wave" sees them opt for a more robotic sound - think tumbling, crystalline lead lines and fizzing analogue bass - while "70100" brilliantly combines the twin attractions of off-kilter electro-funk grooves and shimmering, deep space electronics.

Review: It's five up for the Future Tones label and taking charge for this latest 12" is Jorge Gamarra feat Ecstatic. Gamarra has been featured on plenty of different labels up to now, always with quality levels remaining high. Nothing changes here as 'Tricky' kicks off with a bit of tech house intrigue - unresolved loops and freaky sounds. 'Illapa' is a more dark and turbulent space-tech workout and 'Universe' then bumps on big drums with taught synths and 90s motifs while closer '52598' spins out on bleeps and warped pads that are heart of the dance floor perfection.

Review: The I Was Never Here EP is said to possibly be the last ever offering from Gameboy, which is sombre news as this has been a superb series that first started 15 years ago. Sakskobing Russia has the pleasure of serving it up and once again, tune tunes from Ibrahim Alfa Jnr, an artist from London, are fresh indeed. His take on electro on busy and melodic, with melancholic and pixelated chords marbling the forlorn and slow-motion electro of opener 'Waking The Others.' 'In Dreams' is another insular cut with crisp hits and glassy melodies like no other and 'Visions & Memories' then gets choppy with busted up beats, scraping perc and all manner of hits.

Review: Gauss is made up of Chicago's Natan H and Owen Jay, the main man behind the Batti Batti label and countless other high grade deep and leftfield house and techno variations. The vibe is crisp and machine-powered on this collaborative EP, which follows previous appearances on Hizou Deep Rooted Music and Contrast-Wax, leading in with the punchy but mellow electro excursion "Maximum Entropy". There is a shuffle at work on "Bimodal" but still the Detroit influences are at the front and centre of the mix. "Piecewise Dub" veers off into spacious, experimental territory where the beats come second to the strafing synth work, and then "Dweller" finishes things off with some bare bones machine funk.

Review: To mark the passing of three decades since he established the now iconic Environ imprint, Morgan Geist has decided to reissue the label's long-deleted debut 12" - a solo EP that was just his second release. At the time, Geist had yet to develop the disco-leaning but naturally synth-heavy trademark sound he's become renowned for. Instead, he was investigating the stargazing potential of Detroit-influenced techno and jacking-but-spacey house. Check first the lightly bleep techno influenced excellence of 'Sands' and the more driving, upbeat and jacking 'Airpour', before diving deeply into the percussively rich deep techno wonder of 'Smear'. To complete the package, we get a suitably cosmic, pitched down ambient techno revision of the same track by The Connection Machine - back then a duo who had just released a fine EP on Planet E.

Review: Russian label Samizdat follows up its notable first release with a second 12", this time from Genning. It is classy and sophisticated outing all the way with this one as opener 'Stair To The Sky's Rooftop' soon sets you off on a trip to the stars with its slick rhythms and glistening celestial chords. 'Window To The Dub' follows more of a tech house template with loopy drums and bass that rumble up and down and 'Summer Lighting' then zones you out on some lovely pads and frictionless drums. Last off all is 'Mystic Lakes' which takes off on balmy pads and plump, cuddly but dynamic drums.

Review: Into The Deep Records is a Paris-based, vinyl-only label run by Arthur Lastmann and Step Daw. It presents a reissue of Nu Ambient Grooves by Chris Zippel aka Genuine, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its release. The productions were originally released on Bavarian imprint Ninetysix Sounds back in 1997 and is full of quality downtempo, IDM and acid sounds. Opening up with the psychedelic sunrise breaks of 'Clearing The Past', it soon leads into the sunset on the chilled beats of 'Wandering Around, Lost'. Over on the flip it's all about the emotive electro futurism of 'Playground'.
